Mine came out pretty rare and bloody and my husbands was more well done than it should've been. Our server immediately recognized this and had an additonal filet made "on the house" and had my steak cooked a bit longer. Mine still came out less than medium but at that point I just wanted to eat. We both tried the au gratin potatoes, not a fan. The taste was sort of like beer cheese for some reason. We made reservations on a Friday night at 6. There is plenty of parking out front. We were sat immediately. Our server was friendly and attentive. We started with two appetizers. Coconut Shrimp and the Cuban Egg rolls. Both were tasty and I would order both again. After looking for a last minute place to eat while passing through brooksville, we settled on Chop Block Grill. Located in a strip plaza, with a large parking lot. The restaurant itself is small and quaint with limited seating, so better to call ahead for a reservation. It was late and almost closing time when we arrived, and didn't have a reservation. Regardless, they seated us anyhow. Super great service by both the host and our server. Even the manager came over and said hello and shared some info about the restaurant and how it was started. Let me start by saying Portion sizes are great! Usually with steakhouse prices, the portions don't add up. But this is not the case here! I could barely finish my meal on an empty stomach, little enough with the appetizers I ordered. Let's talk food.. BEST coconut shrimp I have EVER had! They are served with a coconut cream sauce that is to die for! Shrimp are fresh breaded and not saturated in grease. The Cuban egg rolls.. yum!! And full of meat! The apple butter glazed pork chop was so juicy and tender with a nice hint of apple. Pork chop.. more like pork steak! And those Caramelized red onions.. great touch. Especially added onto the salad... Baked potato came with a great selection of fresh toppings to load it up. Back to the salad.. phenomenal. I saw this Yelp review, and the food looks great, but I definitely came underdressed, and I do apologize to Jami and the staff. We stuck out like hillbillies. Jami is a local of Brooksville and took care of us Saturday night and was an absolute sweetheart. I ended up ordering off their seafood menu on the right side and got one of their specials in the red snapper, and had seasoned up the way Jami preferred. all of the food is cooked when ordered, so it did take a little longer than usual, but it was worth the wait and absolutely delicious. My food: Fish: 9.4 Broccoli: 9.0 Asparagus: 7.8 (that's my fault I should have asked for them well done) Andi: She said her food was 5/5 stars. What a pleasant surprise . Running errands and decided to stop for lunch. From the outside it almost looks closed but once inside it's a wonderful experience. Lunch menu is very diverse. Hubby had a French dip and I had a Cobb salad that was full of fresh crisp greens with bacon , grilled chicken, hard boiled egg and tomato. This eatery is in an uninteresting strip mall, but do not judge a book by its cover. When you enter, it is a charming ambiance, art on walls, pleasant jazz music. Kaitlyn was our very attentive and friendly server. Two ordered the Tuesday lunch special - burger (cheese extra) fries and iced tea for $7. Do you remember Ponderosa Steakhouse? Well, IMO, it's been resurrected in Chop Block Grill...except the prices are WAY higher. I've seen so many good reviews for Chop Block, I was anxious to try them. There were issues (petty, really), and some are described below. Bottom line was that my ribeye was less than 1/2 inch thick and full of fat. And I would argue that it wasn't even close the 12 oz that was advertised on the menu. The taste was okay (brought back memories of Pondersosa!), but for $39, I expected a little more. Well, a lot more actually. My husband's strip steak, at $40, was decent tasting, but, again, I would bet not the 10 oz that we paid for. Our dinner, at close to $150 with tip, was lackluster at best. Broccoli was good, rosemary fries were a little under cooked, bread sticks were okay. Wine list was underwhelming. We won't be back. If you're still reading, and care, below are my nitpick comments... I tried calling when they opened for a reservation (per their website), but wasn't able to get through; got a busy signal for over an hour and a half. We went anyways, figuring we'd go somewhere else if we couldn't get in. The manager (I assume) said they were having phone issues, and seated us in the hallway right away. There wasn't a drink menu on the table, and none was offered, so my husband went and got one. His wine was served in a water glass because they "ran out of wine glasses". How does that even happen? It was a nice water glass, but still. Our table was wobbly. Not the kind of wobbly that can be fixed by stuffing a few napkins under a leg. I think the table top needed to be screwed onto the base kind of wobbly...see video. I realize that the restaurant business is very competitive, and costs have gone up substantially. But because it is so competitive, I would think that little things that make a difference in a dining experience that don't impact your daily costs (like service, decor, etc) would be a top priority in obtaining and keeping customers. Next week ordered the Steak salad and it did not disappoint the Steak was cook to perfect temperature and the greens were fresh as well as the strawberries and balsamic dressing was fresh and flavorful. Ordered three burgers and the Cajun grouper. Brought one burger out with the bottom bun, burger and cheese, that's it. Everything else was missing. The bacon, lettuce, onion, tomatoes, pickles and top bun were brought out separately in a dish. The Cajun grouper was not cooked all the way through and was very salty. Had to send it back to finish cooking. The sweet potato fries were good. Service was not the greatest. They could have been having an off night, but most likely will not return. We pulled into a super sketchy looking strip mall with many of the places out of business. The windows of the restaurant are tinted so you can't see in. We thought it was suspect but went in anyway and sooooooo glad we did. Very nice chill, slightly upscale vibe inside but still casual. The prices were not bad at all. An appetizer, 4 drinks, 2 entrees and a desert was $169 before tip and let me say the food was sooooo worth it. Wow. Everything was amazing. Crab cake app was insanely good. Let me start with the decor, THERE IS NONE! It is poorly lit, and uninviting. Absolutely delicious! We went on a Friday, and were lucky that we got there early enough to get a table. We were advised that they were reservation preferred. Went for Valentines Day and the food was wonderful! We had an early reservation due to my husbands work schedule and there were not a lot of people when we went in but the were full when we left.
