I don't think I've ever had a bad beer at DCBH, which is no small feat given the wide range of styles they do. I like pale ales, particularly hazy IPAs, and they've had great ones--but they also have great wheat beers, and porters, and sours. There's usually a kumquat beer on the menu. It's great, too. Really. The interior is spacious and well-lit, and on days that the weather permits, the roll-up doors to the patio and sometimes to 7th Avenue are open. It's a great place to hang around with a beer and write, and probably a great place to hang around with a beer and actually be social, if you're the type who does that. The service is always friendly, fast, and generally above and beyond. Worth special note: DCBH has always had a restaurant counter that's a separate business, and they've on (I think) their third one, Uncle Fatty's. They're really solid, delivering not only pub staples but sometimes surprising specials; it's some of the best food I've had at any brewery. They need to be open later on Thursdays. So: it's good. However, I ordered a pizza from the place in the brewery. It was the most unappealing and disgusting pizza I've ever had in my life. It was clearly a low-end store bought frozen pizza that was burnt and hard as a rock. Tasted absolutely disgusting and wasn't even cooked evenly. This was worse than gas station pizza. We only ate one slice and threw the pizza away. Absolutely nasty and such a waste of money. Again, we definitely won't be back. From service, or general professionalism from the bartender to completely awful pizza - the overall experience was 0 out of 10. Sad to see since the brewery used to be great.

The tour of the brewery was quite informative, with our guide mentioning the process, the devices, history, and how they work with other independent breweries to partner and not compete. The only competition are the big ones like Anheuser, Coors, etc. The brewery area was small and the tour lasted 45 minutes, but very informative and interesting. After the tour, I tried a stronger beer called the McStagger, which was very good, smooth, and boozy. I was definitely happy! The tour was 10 bucks and well worth it. The staff are friendly, and they are happy to chat with other customers if they are not too busy. The drinking area has an ample amount of seats, with outdoor seating as well. It's quite lively, and there was a guitarist playing music as well. It's located at the Plant Street Market. Crooked Can serves great beer and has a very good tour for a wonderful price. The staff and atmosphere has great vibes, and I also enjoy the entertainment offered. Nearly everything in the brewery has been reclaimed and repurposed. They had a vision, and they brought it to life beautifully. Some noteworthy details include the bar top, which is made from wood that is over a century old, and the front of the bar, which features reclaimed door panels sourced from all over. The furniture is also reclaimed, and the unique touches throughout the space seem endless. They also have a quaint outdoor space and multiple rooms to gather in. The beer was enjoyable, and they host events throughout the week. I also noticed they regularly feature food trucks, making it a great spot to gather with friends and family. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and hope to stop by again soon.

The tasting area is very small so I chose to do a flight instead of my original plan of tasting. I did 4 pours for just under $10 which was a good deal. I took my flight and sat out back enjoying the beautiful day while a guy playing violin (the entertainment for the afternoon) played. I ended up buying a bottle of Honeymoon to bring home at $18.99. I also tried Duet, Blueberry Pie and a Raspberry. The Raspberry was my runner up. I thought it was neat that they had a whole back store with single selection of beers and ciders for the non wine drinkers at a reasonable price. I'll go back when my besties come to visit and try again as I feel this place has potential for another star .
