Cozy nostalgic place with cool decor and dark vibes. Good strong drinks and funny service. Seating is nice we had a group of 6 and got acquainted in a dark corner booth lol. It was a good time- you'll need a code I'm not sure how we stumble across ours but hey talking to people and being friendly usually does the trick.

Visited Red Headed Stepchild Speakeasy behind the "Floppy Disk Repair" sign for a fun night out with some friends. We loved how you tell the doorman a code to enter, and the intriguing 1980s to early 2000s horror movies vibe (even the bathrooms are decorated with bloody handprints and a special ode to the Shining). Deciding what to order was difficult given the extensive menu and unique options. The description for each drink was a nice touch. The menu doesn't list prices, but our group's drinks were typical Austin cocktail prices (around $16). Our group all ordered different drinks and we enjoyed each one. I will note that it is a small space and can get pretty packed, with shared tables and some groups standing. Because of this they were also out of a few of our top picks when we visited. We did have to bust out the phone flashlight to read the menu, as it was very dark. But the employees were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed visiting this unique speakeasy.

Very fun place. A perfect speakeasy. Dark and strange. Interesting drink names. Even the bartender had a speakeasy vibe. I'd go again. I loved the chain curtain you had to walk through past the door.

I've been coming here for years and it's always such a vibe. This is small intimate space with unique cocktails and fabulous service. The music selection is always on point and I love bringing friends here to expierence everything they have to offer! Must have the code to get in. This time I tried a Espresso martini and i've got to say it was probably the Best one i've ever had! 10/10 recommend this spot!

Cool spot, you need a passcode to enter. Luckily the bar next door gave it to us. I enjoy speakeasy's like this. With crazy drink combination. I got the lean in my cup, its real sweet but very good. Really dark inside i needed a flashlight to see the menu the bartenders are nice and the ambiance is a vibe they have music playing.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect and you def need the code to get in. After entering the code (and it working!) walked into the venue which is very cold. Almost freezing, so bring a sweater if you're not a fan. There was one other party there, that departed shortly after our arrival, so we had the place to ourselves. This was around 5 on a Thursday so definitely not prime time. The decor is like chainsaw massacare meets a production crew. Very dark lighting, had Jaws playing on the vintage TV. Drinks were all pretty raunchy which made for an enjoyable ordering process cause you couldn't help but laugh. The bar tender Steve was great and the drinks he made delicious. He was friendly and answered all our questions about the history of the bar and the backstory for the decor/drinks. Typical pricing around $20 or so for a dink but hey, you're paying for the experience. And it was an experience!

The bartender was knowledgeable and kind. The ambiance is chill. And the drink, the most important part, was delicious. I got the Woo Girl and it was very balanced and perfectly sweet!

This place is so cute! You have to have a code to get in and it changes often. This is a great location for a "hidden" spot. The Redheaded Stepchild is very red and cozy with macabre decor and thoughtful drinks.

My friend from out of town brought me here for a couple drinks and I must say this is such a cute and exclusive spot. The bouncer was super nice and does a great job of keeping the potential troublemakers out. I will say the drinks are on the pricier side however, the presentation is 10 out of 10 and the service here is superb.

Floppy Disk Repair is a *great* speakeasy in Austin. It's fun & quirky - the type of place to take out of town guests. It's not that you'd become a regular and spend all evening here. Rather you'd make it a part of your itinerary for the evening; it has a cool character with great craft cocktails matched with hilarious names. Worth stopping in. But you'll need to get the door code... ;)

Tricky lil spot to get into but delicious cocktails and fun spooky vibe inside! We were lucky to have a bartender give us the code at a bar nearby and sat at the cute swing chairs while ordering our drinks. I got the Ashley Madison - passion fruit mezcal cocktail - super good and has a lil spicy bite at the end and a yummy peach ring on it as garnish! Would definitely order again My fiancée ordered the choke me cocktail and it came out with a little skull on top and smoke sparked up for the cocktail - a little show as well lol Ngl drinks are a bit pricey so we only had one round but it's a fun spot to check out! Love the shining references - floor / bathroom set up!

The place is decorated pretty cool (there was a funky smell though) and there are two "swing" seats at the bar. There aren't too many tables so it's nice and cozy and dark. We were there on a weeknight so it wasn't packed. Many locals came in and out to talk to the bartenders which made for a chill environment. Would be a nice spot to hang out at if you were good with beer. We didn't care much for the cocktails but the menu was full of interesting drinks.

Loving the vibe at Red Headed Stepchild!

My wife and I had heard about The Floppy Disk Repair Shop (aka The Red Headed Stepchild) but last night was our first opportunity to get the code and get in. The speakeasy was rocking with a DJ pumping out crazy music. The bar staff were so attentive and the drinks were great! Layton Smith came over and talked with my wife and I, got us signed up to get the code each month. We will definitely come back and bring some friends! The entire experience was 5 stars! Can't wait to come in again!

I can't remember whether it was described as dramatic as it showed up, but let me tell you there was drama! It was served in a flaming skull, garnished with beautiful flowers and fresh fruit, and filled to the brim with God knows how much alcohol and juice, but it was a time! To heighten the experience, he sprinkled something in a shaker and the flames just erupted! The whole restaurant stopped and I cackled! The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there.
