Like many people, I've been working from home over the past year due to lockdown from COVID-19…read more Luckily I already had a desk at home, but my chair is from IKEA and not super comfortable. I finally decided to buy a professional office chair and Herman Miller is one of the top brands. Their Aeron chair is very popular because it is ergonomically designed and highly customizable. I was pretty sure that I wanted that chair, but the old fashioned part of me wanted to sit in one before purchasing online. I could only find one place in the Seattle area that sells new Herman Miller chairs and that is Design Within Reach. I was confused about the relationship, but Herman Miller owns Design Within Reach, so this is like their authorized showroom/retailer. I visited the store on a Sunday morning and I didn't have an appointment or anything. I went straight to the office chairs, but they also have a lot of other furniture (couches, tables, etc). The Aeron comes in three different sizes and they had one of each. A salesperson named Gary helped me and he was excellent. I already did a lot of research on this product and I could tell that Gary clearly knew his stuff. He did a great job of checking on me/answering my questions but he also gave me time and space to just sit and think about it. In the end, I'm really glad that I went to the store and had Gary help me place the order. I ended up making a couple of different decisions on the options than I would have otherwise. If you work for certain companies (Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon, etc) you get a discount, so definitely ask about that. Otherwise I believe they have a 15% off sale twice a year. I received my chair about a week and a half after I ordered it. It is really a cool experience. They ship you a huge box, but you just need to open one side and then roll the chair out (it comes completely assembled)! I am happy with my purchase and I would recommend it to others.

He greeted us with a warm welcome, but left us alone to browse for a few minutes. He approached my wife and me after we had some time to look through options and commented that it seemed like we were looking for a dining table and coffee table. That casual comment let me know that he was perceptive and wanted to be helpful. It naturally opened up a conversation about our furniture choice, color scheme, and he got to understand what we were looking for. Kieran was friendly and not pushy, helping us visualize what different chairs would look like with one particular table, and informing us of our options and timelines for in-stock items. Thanks to his input, we were able to pick out a coffee table and side table that will look amazing in our new house. We look forward to getting his advice for picking out more furnishings in the future!

When practicing safe food snobbery, I will always go to this store first!…read more I was recently looking for a place to order a John Boos board. I wanted to find a place in the Seattle area that had these in stock since I was worried about time constraints in shipping. I called the Boos company directly, and they told me to try contacting Bargreen Ellingson and Sur la Table for locations in my area that carried their stock. I called Sur la Table, but they did not have the cutting board I was looking for since it was a custom order item. Next, I called Bargreen Ellingson. I was directed to a customer service rep. The rep informed me that they did not have them in stock, but they could place an order for me. They said it would take 7-10 business days to arrive, and shipping would be $35.95 for ground shipping to come to my home, or $34 to arrive at the store. I complained that I could get it through Amazon for free shipping, but Amazon's site said it would take up to 4 weeks to arrive. So, I decided to go with Bargreen Ellingson. After discussing the price with the rep, I was immensely pleased! Their price was about $90 cheaper than Amazon! Sure, I had to pay for the shipping, but it was still much cheaper! Frankly, I was skeptical about the price because it seemed too good to be true. I got that "aroo?" look on my face and quizzed her to verify she was talking about the same cutting board I was talking about. I couldn't believe it. I asked how that could *possibly* be the right price, and she said: "Well, we buy these things in bulk, so we get a pretty good discount." No exaggeration there, sister! Ultimately the rep offered the shipping to my home for the store rate - $34, so I was a very happy camper. About 15-20 minutes after placing my order, I received a call back from the rep. She was very apologetic and said the item was a custom order item, and would take 4 weeks plus shipping time. She wanted to know if it was okay to proceed with the order, and I told her it was fine. It was a little disappointing that I would have to wait that much longer, but it was somewhat to be expected since Amazon had the same disclaimer. Seven days after placing my order, it arrived! 4 week, schmore weeks. Pfft. It was just as promised, and $60 cheaper than any place I could find online! All in all: great service, great prices, exceeded expectations = WIN! You gained a big, big fan, Bargreen Ellingson!
