My first visit to Float, probably my only. Not for bad reason, but healthwise. I highly recommend FloatSA. The employees are super. Very helpful, calming & kind. When you come & check in, you sign a release - not a big deal, just legal stuff. They take you to a private room, with an adjoining bathroom & lockers for your personal stuff while you're being pampered. After you change & put on the comfy robe, trust me - it'll fit anyone. It was very big, but warm & comfy! They have a bucket with flip flops, or bring your own (I'd hope?). They walk you to the massage chair next. HOLY MOLEY!!! I need one if those chairs in my home. (But, alas, I'd be a hermit then. ) You're in the chair for about 15 minutes. Afterwards, they show you the lounge area. Next is the part you've been waiting for - the floating. They give you the instructions before leaving you to shower, then float. This is where my experience went wonky. I have asthma, & sadly I can't be in steamy places, or deal with really moist air. So, while it's not steamy, the air was just heavy. I ended up having to get out of the pod, get back in & try to relax. I ended up spending my time just focusing on trying to get a good breath. I shallow breathe anyway, but this & my OCD, made me focus too much on what I didn't want to focus on. I did looooove the total darkness, & the float. I got out very relaxed. So, it was a total success for that purpose, & that is the intent. Afterwards, I showered, as instructed, put the robe back on & sat in the lounge for a bit. Doodled in one of the journals, & had a cup of tea. All relaxed, I went & got dressed to leave. Spoke to the employees about the military discount & PTSD sessions they have, & was very interested. But, after thinking about my breathing so much, I realize it's not for me every month. However, they also do massages! So, I'm looking at the massage membership. First impressions are lasting. Easy to book an appointment online even though it was my first visit. Jessica is so amazing. Her motivation alone keeps you intrigued. She did a complete walk through of FLOAT and explained everything so that I could understand it better. I initially went in for the infrared sauna but after arriving, I decided to try a float as well I started with the infrared sauna for 40 minutes and baby it was the best ever. Unlike a steam/dry sauna my body slowly heated up. It was very relaxing that at the end, I did not want to leave. After the sauna, I sat in a relaxation room with massage chairs. The chairs were top of the line. From the foot massage to the body massage again another experience that was worth writing about. The float was not my thing. I did try it and lasted longer than I expected. Not that it was bad, I was unable to relax because I am claustrophobic. I really did try and will take my sister-in-love there so she can experience it. Eventually I will work up to it, because I really want to experience it all. They have everything you need. We had schedule two services arrived at the time we were told, we check in and they confirmed our two service. They took us back and had us change. We waited in lounge for a bit while they said they would get us the releases to sign. When they came back they said our service was not for another 1 1/2. They then informed us they booked one of our services and that we would have to wait for that 1 1/2 but could fit us in an 1 hour for just 30mins of a 50 mins service at no charge. At this point we were very upset that we had planned our day around this time for us to sit there for that amount of time. They should had let us know before we changed verse waisting our time. They turned what was supposed to be a relaxing and positive experience the complete opposite. read more

I messaged Jeremy and he was able to accommodate without any hassle! For our first time float, it was surprisingly relaxing. My husband got me a voucher for a spa day. It included a 60 min massage which ended up being 40 mins. There is a large clock that showed she started at 1130 and ended at 1210. I asked and was told the extra missed time was for the prep time. I don't see how that would remove 20mins. Other places if they start late they end late and I waited 30 mins for my next service. The float experience was good. The water turned cold and I felt it hard to breathe after 40mins and got out. The salt water made my skin feel soft after. The lady who helped me in between sessions was polite and helpful. I guess cause of covid they removed toiletries so bring your own if you need any after you shower. Overall experience was ok. I'd rather soak in my own tub and get a massage where I get my entire time paid. Also, masks are required during the massage which was fine facing up but downward was uncomfortable. Masks will still be required here after March 10th. read more

Wow, this was incredible - hands down the most relaxing, rejuvenating, and unique experience I've had in San Antonio. Your experience begins as soon as you walk in. There is a private dressing room with a locker that is personalized with your name, a fluffy robe, and every detail thought through to make your experience great: make up wipes, lotions, kleenex, combs, flip flops, etc. Someone really took the time to ponder what could make a client comfortable and more relaxed, and they thought through everything. Then I headed for a session in the infrared sauna, which I LOVED. I don't even particularly like saunas because of how heavy the air gets with moisture, and that does not happen in an infrared sauna. The air is crisp but warm and the heat relaxes every tense muscle in your body as soothing nature music plays. There is also a mini fridge with water and cold, wet towels (again, continuing the trend that the owners/staff really thought through every aspect of the client experience). I highly, highly recommend the infrared sauna. Then came my float session. I did not want to leave! I could have floated forever. It begins with a soothing massage chair (also, I never knew massage chairs could be so incredible - it massages your feet, calves, back, head, arms, hands) with tranquil music and lighting. From there, I entered the pod, which felt like an outer space experience and your body becomes weightless as you float. You can't tell where your body ends and the water starts, and you lay in a pitch black space just flowing with your thoughts, your heart beat, and your breathe. For anyone that gets claustrophobic, there is a light that you control, the pod is very roomy, and the pod is very easy to open from the inside. I'd highly recommend floating in darkness if you can. Overall, a perfect experience. I would not change a single thing, nor is there a single area for improvement. I will be back regularly, and have told all my friends to check it out as soon as possible. As a pro tip, the first time you book, you should get a reminder email and text the day before your float - if it does not come through, give them a call! I've been wanting to visit FLOAT since they opened up just over a year ago. I used to live in the area and am super excited that San Antonio has such a top notch facility. The experience was 100% class from the start. I should note that I'm not super educated on float therapy and was very curious about what my reaction would be. The facility itself is immaculate with no expenses spared. Your FLOAT experience begins with a short waiver on a tablet and a quick change in the common changing area. You will have the changing room to yourself and place your belongings in a locker that locks with a key that you retain throughout your experience. On to the good stuff. First, you'll spend fifteen minutes in the most exquisite massage chair of your life. Seriously, this thing is extreme. My float was great, but the massage chair may have been my favorite part. I think that would likely change after I float for a few more times and I get used to floating. Relish your time in the chair! Next you'll be escorted to your pod (or cabin) room where you'll shower before your float. You'll take another shower after your float. Now for my own experience. I didn't know what to expect, but tried to go in with an open mind. The owner gave me some tips and pointers for common ways to position myself in the pod. I'm 6ft, 205 lbs and had plenty of room to float without touching the sides. I won't say that I hallucinated during my float, but my eyes definitely were playing tricks on me. At one point I thought I saw lights (none were on) and also saw shadows dancing, even though this was in an environment void of both sound and light. I hope to go back again sometime and absolutely recommend you give FLOAT a shot. There are multiple float therapy businesses in San Antonio, but I believe you'll find this location to be the best in SA. This was a different experience, compared to the traditional spa. Would recommend trying it out. The guy at the front was nice and helped us get settled in. Helped ourselves to a cup of tea. I wouldn't do this again, since I felt nauseated during the time in the bubble thing (where you float). Maybe it's because I ate sometime before - idk. The temperature of the bubble thing also contributed to my nausea...it was warm and humid. I couldn't relax at all. Everything was clean though. My very first float experience was awesome!!! Hands down I had such a great experience. Jessica was the one who basically was my hostess for the evening. As soon as I walked in, I signed a waiver via the iPad and then she walked me to the locker room where I was able to undress and put on this comfy robe! You float nude so you make sure to take off everything before putting on the robe. There are some clean sandals that they offer as well to walk around in. They have lockers with a lock and you keep the key with you in your robe pocket. They also offer many styling products for your hair and lotion for the body! I love that they have markers on the vanity set to leave a special note on the mirror if you would like :) I definitely left my note! From there Jessica was waiting for me in the hallway where she showed me to a relaxing massage chair room! I had no idea this was even included in my float! The massage chair was heaven and it was a 15 min massage. After that lovely surprise, she took me to my float room where there was an overhead shower as well as complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Before you go into the float pod, you must shower off. There was also a head float if you wanted one as well as ear plugs to keep water out of your ears and some petroleum jelly in case you have some cuts or just shaved to keep your skin from stinging. I got in and away I floated! Wow! Super relaxing! There was a spray bottle with water inside just in case you get the salt water in your eyes along with a towel. You can control the lighting inside the pod. I kept mine off and kept the pod slightly open because I got a little warm while inside. There is music that plays when your session is up and then I got out to shower again. Then walking out the the main area, I made myself some hot tea and organic honey :) My experience was sooooo amazing! SO HAPPY I DID!! The front desk assistant, Jessica, was super friendly and explained the entire process. You get a private room with your own shower and pod. Soak for an hour in a pod full of epson salt at perfect temperature! Your body just automatically floats , no pressure points, no discomfort. It's as if your in a cloud. I love every single thing about this place! For an hour and a half every month I get to just relax and forget the stress. Sometimes I can really get deep in my head and it's a great "universe bonding" experience. Other times are lighter and just relaxing. Sometimes I even sleep in the pod! The main thing that will keep me going back is the service here. I have never felt rushed at all. The first and only time I went was about two weeks ago on Friday 3/15. I scheduled a 60 minute massage, and a 60 minute float afterwards. The float was great. Well it was slightly terrifying, but that wasn't their fault, that was my head because it was the very first time I was doing such a thing. The girl that walked me through it (Julie) was absolutely fantastic. She made me feel super comfortable, answered all of my questions and then took the time afterwards to talk to me about my experience during the float. She was truly great. In terms of the changing room and float room, they were all very clean, and full of everything you needed to make your time there great. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is because of the massage. I love massages. It's my favorite thing to do for myself because I'm often stressed. The massage I got at Float was mediocre at best. It was very upsetting how sloppy and all over the place it was. Her massaging technique was nonexistent, she skipped body parts, and paused constantly (maybe she was doing energy work on me, but, even if that was the case it sure didn't help my energy one bit). Her draping technique was poor too, and I just felt more stressed coming out of that room than going in. If you need to truly check out and relax - Float! It is essentially forced relaxation. If you meditate at all, you will be surprised at how quickly the sensory deprivation pod will take you to that zen/peace place you achieve while meditating. The music that they play at the begging literally makes you feel like you are being transported to another galaxy! I had to really focus on not thinking about Star Wars. :) the point of the Float is to turn off the noggin, so attempting to turn off and tune out all thoughts is the goal and that happens!! I was worried I might feel claustrophobic, but I did not at all. When I was told some people fall asleep, i thought there is no way I am falling asleep in this thing, but guess who was snoring before then end of my session - this girl!! The massage chairs you get to lounge in prior to the massage are worth the price of the service alone! Best massage chairs I have been in. I gave it four stars only because of the location. I wish it was on the north side or in Shavano/castle hills area. I hope they are able to get the clientele I feel that will love this service in their current location. The facility is top notch. Tip - if you have a big purse - the lockers are a little tight. Tip 2 - bring deep conditioner for after the float - the salt water is very very drying to your hair, and if you color your hair - be aware that salt water can and will fade your hair color. Everyone is amazing and friendly! The owner personally guided us through the first experience. The inside of this place is gorgeous and calming as soon as you eat in to really set the vibe. You are guided to the changing room to get in your robe and put away your stuff in a secured locker. It started with quiet time in the most amazing massage chair that also used compression inside a calm dark room with relaxing sounds. Then you are shown the room you can relax in afterwards to process coming back and I suggest you use it. You may not realize it right away your first time but you will need that time to transition to the chaos of the world. The most important and exciting part is getting to your private pod room. You will be provided everything you need to shower and get the most out of your experience. I suggest using the provided earplugs. As someone who identifies as claustrophobic, the pod was intimidating at first. Thankfully, I was shown that I was in complete control and it cannot be locked or secured shit. It is MUCH BIGGER once inside than it might initially appear. As a 6 foot 3 man I had plenty of room and felt comfortable. Once you get settled in, let your whole body relax and focus on releasing all of your muscles to float like you are in space. When you are ready turn of the lights for the best experience. It's worth it. When all of your senses are nullified by the experience that's when the REAL experience begins. Relaxing music plays to let you know it's time to come out of your meditative state and rinse off in the shower. Transition in the relaxing room you were introduced to earlier and then find yourself in a deeply relaxed state for at least the rest of the day! I will definitely be coming back often! Wow. This experience blew me away. Or grounded me. Or both. When I convinced a girlfriend to "float" with me I wasn't quite sure what to expect. And then when I pulled into the parking lot I was admittedly a bit skeptical (it's in a little strip mall) but I told myself not to be judgy and go inside before I made a decision about the place. I'm so glad I did the reception area is cozy and calming. The women's locker room area is well-stocked with toiletries and comfortable. And while we didn't take the time to sit in the reception area it was well-thought out and cozy. You can read, draw, color, drink tea, and/or just be. The rooms with the pods and cabins are brand new and clean. I have strong feelings about rain-head showers (I hate water coming straight down on my head - it's inescapable!) but the water was warm and the area for showers was big and open. The experience itself is wild. It took me about 20 mins to relax and I hate water in my ears so I had to make adjustments to my ear putty but once I got settled it was beyond dreamy and the time passed too quickly. I was in the larger cabin and I couldn't feel the sides so it truly felt like I was floating in space. And to my sheer surprise, this time to myself, for myself was far more healing than I expected it to be. Quiet and dark and alone and floating in the nude was a hard concept to wrap my head around but y'all it's incredible. And so necessary during this time in the world where disconnecting from technology and media is nearly impossible. My girlfriend and I both bought the 3 float passes and I woke up this morning and meditated for the first time in my life. Who knew? Do it, you won't regret it. read more

Today my husband and I floated for one hour in our own pods, and it was amazing! We changed into robes, and started with a deluxe chair massage for 15 minutes. I could have stayed in the chair all day! Then we were taken to each of our rooms, provided an in-depth tutorial/tips, etc. and the hour began. You shower before getting in, and there is light music playing. The music slowly fades and you fall into a deep relaxation float. It is zero gravity so you literally feel weightless. After the float, there is hot tea, etc. and a nice lounge area. We will definitely be back soon! read more

Today was my first float ever! First of all, I would've given 5 stars because the service from Brandon was excellent. He made me feel comfortable and was very thorough in his explanation for everything, being that I had never floated before. Though I learned today that floating is not for me, I'd still give this place a good rating because the atmosphere is very wonderful for people that do enjoy it. Prices for infrared saunas and pretty darn great, too! The only reason I gave four stars is because there was a short black curly hair inside the wall of my pod and I have long straight brown hair and I got a little grossed out but just ignored it since it wasn't in the water. But then, as I was in the water with ear plugs in, I could hear banging and moving from outside. I kinda freaked because I thought someone was knocking on my pod but it was just coming outside my room. Nothing to complain about but I just thought it said in the pamphlet that there will be zero sound and not exactly the case just for anyone who'd like to know. This was my first time floating and it was amazing. I walked in not knowing what to expect and Julie quickly put my mind at ease and explained everything that would be happening. After a quick change into a robe and flip flops in the dressing room Julie led us to the massage chair room. It was amazing. There were stars and a moon on the ceiling to help you drift away while getting your entire body including hands and feet massaged by the chairs. After about 15 wonderful minutes Julie led us to the float room to explain what we should expect, the shower process, and how everything would go. After a quick shower it was time for the float. I laid in the pod, shut the lid, and switched off the light inside; nervous of what was going to happen next. The music shut off and the lights in the room turned off. I began feeling overwhelmed because of the darkness and the deafening silence. I switched the light back on in the pod and trying to recompose myself. This was supposed to be relaxing and I am fine. Nothings going to happen. After a few more minutes with the light on I finally reached over and cut it back off. With my mind finally relaxed I began to drift off. I could no longer tell what was my body and what was the water. I felt as if I were in space with no gravity. It was amazing. The next 60 minutes were the most relaxing of my life. I felt as if my body had been reset. Once the music came back on and my time was up I showered again, was led back to the changing room where they had EVERYTHING needed and more to get ready. Julie then led us to the lounge where we could relax, draw, read, anything! I tried Kombucha for the first time and looked at all the local artists pieces they had on display. Once I left my body felt as if it were glowing. Because of the relaxation I got, the hospitality of Julie and the inviting-ness of the entire place, I will definitely be purchasing a monthly membership. If I could give 10 stars I would. Going to Float is an amazing experience from beginning to end. The staff was very professional, and set me up for a massage and an hour float. The spaces in Float are so beautiful and zen, I was instantly transformed and impressed by the beautiful details everywhere. My blood pressure lowered just going into the massage room- I was surrounded by tons of candles and soft ambient music. Amazing massage! All the details are considered and everything I needed was there- from a soft bathrobe to a nice cup of tea in the lounge area afterwards. The owners have truly thought of every detail. There is a nice variety of awesome local art for sale which I really liked seeing. The floating experience itself was something that was both exciting and calming. After the massage, the staff took me to my pod room and explained the process. I showering off I got into a "pod". The pod looked like a little space ship!!! I focused on my breathing and achieved a sense of floating in space that was unbelievable!! I have already made an appointment to come back. I learned about floating and sensory deprivation from listening to Joe Rogan. But I never had the opportunity to do it until now. I heard about Float from some friends on Facebook, and I scheduled my appointments with Float through their website, which was pretty easy. Lots of good info as well. I got the tour from the owner, Jeremy, who is really friendly, laid-back, and easy to talk to. He answered all my questions without any hesitation. He even told me a lot of the theory behind floating, and then how to experience your first float and what to expect. The place is gorgeous inside! Jeremy and his team did a great job. There's a locker room to change in, a lounge area when you finish your float, and some beverages to sip on. I was completely satisfied, so I booked two more appointments.
