I try to like this place and go back occasionally but it is average at best. Burgers are OK but they argue with you about leaving off the fries! The onion rings always taste burnt. It's uncomfortably cold in the winter and cold in the summers. They put so much dressing on a side salad you can barely eat it. This was my first visit to Flip Side. We had to wait just a few minutes for a table. The restaurant was clean and the server was friendly and quick. They do offer a vegetarian burger but oddly all the fried foods were cooked in lard. Not very vegetarian friendly, especially because I noticed the mention of lard in the fine print. My son has an intolerance to meat and this would have spoiled our day. The beer selection was pretty good. I really felt this was rather overpriced for a burger with no side. Been here a few times and there's almost always a wait due to the small seating area. This particular visit we joined the waitlist before showing up, which is great because it can become a very long wait. We checked in with the hostess when we arrived, we still had to wait for a little but then our place in line kept getting pushed back. When we addressed the hostess again why this was happening, she said she had called our name and no one responded but in fact she had not called for our party. She didn't want to take any responsibility for the mishap but got us the next available table. We stopped in for brunch and are huge fans! The service is great, they asked if we wanted a booth, table, or bar seating. Our server checked in with us multiple times. The ambiance inside is really mellow, great music and sports on TV. The outdoor seating area looked lovely as well. The food was the star though! We got a breakfast pizza, YUM. Drove into town for a work meeting and looking for a great spot for burgers on cheeseburger day. The options by my hotel were Wendy's McDonald's caliber, so I let Yelp help do the looking for my solo adventure. Came across this recommendation despite it being a bit further away. After some additional research, found that they were featured on Unique Eats. I tend to shy away from establishments featured on tv but I wasn't left with many options at 8:30pm on a Wednesday night in Hudson. Thankfully, when I drove up, there was no line, there were a few tables and I was seated quickly. The place is definitely small, but there are various height tables and a long bar. Lighting was a bit dark but it was an awesome atmosphere. A good clean burger bar place. Since I was eating solo, I did not feel like that there was eyes on me nor was the waitstaff overly trying to service me. The waitress took my beer order and I had a struggle to decide between the Forester or the signature One Red Door...of course she had a solution - one red door w/mushrooms- BOOM amazing! The burger was fresh, delicious, tender and made to a perfect medium temperature. The Brie date added a nice creamy sweet texture that balanced the beef well. The aioli was missing that bacon flavor despite me seeing the bits but that didn't bother me. The menu is a la carte, so getting a side of sweet potatoes was in order but I left like 75% behind...it was definitely a shareable. These were thick, not too sweet, CRISP outer shell, and perfect middle. I hate that I wasted the rest of the basket but that burger was soo delicious and filling. I truly never leave a fry behind but I had to, it was sad for me. It did come with a horseradish mustard sauce but it wasn't flavorful and lacked the horseradish punch, but the fries were great naked so I wasn't disappointed. I hate that it will potentially be a LONG time before I come back to the area but this place takes first place for burgers in my book. read more

Went here on a recent weekday with several coworkers after a nearby site tour. Located in the heart of downtown Hudson, this is a hip little pub with really good, sloppy burgers. The happen to have a specialty milkshake that caught a few of our eyes...made NY Cheesecake style. How the heck can you pass that up?!?!? We ordered and waited for the fireworks to begin! Being my first time here, i felt it my duty to order one of their most well known burgers...the Green Eggs & Ham. In a word, it was delicious! Cooked just under medium (would have preferred a little closer to mid-rare) it was topped with grilled prosciutto, sauteed spinach, a crispy parmesan patty, basil-infused mayo and topped with a fried egg. I can see you drooling over there...get a hold of yourself! For the table, we split orders of fresh cut fries and also onion rings. Gotta say that the rings were not my favorite as they were overly breaded and lacked any kind of kick. It was served with a spicy dipping sauce similar to what you'd get with a bloomin' onion. The fries however, were crispy, well salted and just perfect. And last, let's not forget that milkshake! It was decadent, smooth, creamy and filled with chunks of actual cheesecake and the added chocolate sauce swirl kicked it up a notch even higher! The look of the place is really nice. The drinks were cold and the burger was delicious (except that the kitchen forgot 2 of the ingredients). The $8 mac and cheese was also incredibly bland. Just some generic cheese sauce on noodles. It would be so easy to make that a really good dish if it wasn't so boring. Have you even heard of salt? What I really don't like is the fact that the staff wasn't required to wear some sort of uniform (even jeans and a polo). The problem with that is it leaves work attire up to the discretion of the employee. All but a few looked completely sloppy and not dressed to serve customers at an establishment like this. The staff also lacked a good degree of professionalism. The group of them stood around talking, doing nothing, and even had their backs to customers. It looked like there was no management present to make sure the place was running well, or they just didn't care. Very poor customer service. My lovely wife and I had been to 'FLP SIDE' year's ago and had to wait to be seated for what felt like FOREVER! Fast forward to last night, we used their new sign in feature on Yelp (new to us) and we're seated as soon as we walked in! It was awesome! We even got a great parking spot. The chairs we're comfortable, table location great, noise level fine, and wait staff responsiveness and thoughtfulness perfect. Had dinner tonight. Food was very good but service was very poor and this is not the first time. Seems to be a recurring issue here. Server didn't even put in our appetizer order and then gave it to us at the end of the meal and apologized. She was very inattentive and we waited a long time to get our order in, our drinks, and our meal. We had to flag down another server to find out what was going on. We never got our second order of drinks so just canceled them. She blamed the bartender which I doubt. I can understand having one issue, but it happened over and over as far as the service went. Pretty disappointed this time around. Used to be called one red door now replaced with Flipside. Order a margarita pizza but upon arrival it was pretty much bread with marinara. Very little cheese and some pieces didn't have any, no basil, no tomatoes, no cheese slices and so on like they had previously. My partner got a meat pizza and it also had very little cheese and was dry, since it had meat toppings he ate it anyways but also was unsatisfied. Ambiance was ok, I don't know that was remodel about the place since it looks exactly the same. Will give it one more try before deciding to cross it off our places to go eat. read more

Delicious burgers! my husband got their jalapeno something burger and I don't remember the name of it but it was supposed to be on a spicy side and it wasn't however it was delicious and he really enjoyed it. I got their lamb burger and it was phenomenal. Our bartender was nice and the place did get packed a little later in the evening. I'm giving this place four stars and not 5 because the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Bathrooms are a huge deal. I was turned off by the fact that they had dial hand soap instead of an actual soap dispenser. It was definitely unsanitary with that portion. Will definitely go back to visit and might even try a different location. read more

The beer selection is great and food is solid. Only complaint is the burgers are slightly small. Fries are good. Rings are good. I am not a frequent reviewer on these sights, but I felt compelled to write after our amazing experience at the Flip Side in Hudson. We had a fairly large group that included several kids, but we were seated almost immediately. Our waitress was very sweet and was extremely accommodating! We all enjoyed our time together as well as our meals. My main reason for posting this review is because of the absolutely amazing follow up service we received from Cat the manager. My husband left his prescription sunglasses on the table and we didn't realize it until we were back home in Colorado. We called the restaurant hoping to have them mailed to us at our cost. Cat went above and beyond her responsibilities and mailed them back on her own dime. We moved away from Ohio 24 years ago... with all of the negative news that we are subjected to on a daily basis, it's nice to know that Hudson is still home to some of the best food, and nicest people we've ever met. Came here for lunch on a Saturday. Flip Side itself is carry out only, but the restaurant next door, One Red Door, has their menu. Clearly same owner, but why limit seating capacity by combining 2 restaurants? Curious. Ambiance of 1Red Door: casual, wood everything, nice, comfortable. I liked it. Service: for a half empty restaurant, you would expect service to be better. Our server never came around to refill drinks and just did one table touch early in the meal. Service should be better. Food: the burgers are amazingly good. And I think that is the first time I ever said that about a burger. The patty itself is very flavorful and not overly thick. Decent thickness so not thin, but definitely on the thinner side. Makes it easier to eat. Bacon super crispy. Chicken sandwich just decent. Properly cooked, but needs to be jazzed up to be more than just a chicken sandwich. Onion rings. I really liked the flaky batter. Not what you expected. Tiny bit of a spice level too.
