I tried their vegan incredible Dave and after a long wait, I was finally able to indulge in the sandwich. I was truthfully underwhelmed with my sandwich since the vegan chicken in the sandwich was really soggy and had a bit of an odd taste. My wife was not impressed either with her sandwich either. It's a unique place with a unique theme. Not many people were dining in so you can expect plenty of peace and quiet. Ordered at the Hudson location last night and never again. Went to the Macedonia location months ago and was very disappointed with its quality and freshness, especially for the price. Thought I would give one more chance and ordered the original Dave's Cosmic sub. It is supposed to have prosciutto on it and there was a tiny, I mean tiny piece. We also ordered the chicken bacon ranch sub and just ok.. For the money, definitely not worth it. They have gone down hill will not be trying again. read more

Unbelievable I'll start with that, I look forward to working in Hudson so I can eat at Dave's no longer with that got a crazy Dave which I often do literally last year I ate one from there and it was amazing as usual well today ordered one and night and day difference. Idk if they don't know what ingredients are supposed to be on a crazy Dave or what but zero fresh garlic zero pepper flakes and so little cheese it might as well have been without and as for the meat if it was 1 ounce that's it tops about the only thing that wasn't skimped on was the cosmic sauce, total rip off horrible sandwich compared to a "real" crazy Dave ya got me once NEVER again. It's in downtown Hudson. The traffic and location make it hard to get to it. The service was good nothing special. The choices were interesting. This is my first time here but my mom has her usual and she likes it. It's a decent sub shop. The only drawback back is the traffic and parking. read more

Today I got a corned beef sub at Dave's in Hudson. The overpriced sandwich was dry, tough and chewy. It tasted like it was sitting out for hours. I will never order it again. Got the big dave and meatball with extra pickles. Big Dave had inedible pieces of chewy hard meat. I didn't get the normal pickle with my sandwich. The extra pickles I ordered are soft and weird dark color. They are usually crisp and white. Seems like a totally different place. read more

My family and I love Dave's. Been going for years. Love the food. Love the people who work there. It had a been about a month or so since we were last there. We went a couple nights ago. The food was TERRIBLE. Bread was stale and hard. A couple the sandwiches were wrong to begin with. Didn't recognize anyone working there. Seems as though they are under new management/ownership. They use shredded cheese on their subs which is strange and I don't care much for the rolls either. Dave's has been my go-to for 25 years, a must-visit place when I'm back in town visiting relatives and friends. I've been to several locations and always enjoyed the fun vibe, good food, and good music. Sadly, the menu has changed so much that I don't recognize it anymore. Several of my standard favorites were gone when I was there six months ago (Dave's All American, for one,) but I picked something similar enough that was just okay (roast beef with hot peppers and hot pepper juice, which was too spicy for me.) When visiting last week, the menu had changed again. No roast beef to be found, but hot steak sandwiches? I was openminded and tried one, but it was just not that good. My friend got a corned beef sandwich, which at $15 was a stretch, but it came without any toppings! She had to pay extra for sauce and coleslaw for it, which was crazy given the already steep price! Their subs are definitely one of a kind and very original. I have yet to be disappointed and I am always trying something new. For the price, and it does not matter the location, the subs are rather small and could use more to fill them. Like in the 80's--Where's the beef? First time having Dave's Cosmic Subs, and my anticipation was running in overdrive. I looked at the behemoth menu, the cashier was impatiently waiting for my order, so many words, so many subs. I panicked. "What should I order I said?" She recommended the "Turkey". I got that for my daughter. I reluctantly went with the "Peace Steak", but only because I felt the pressure of other patrons behind me who were also impatiently waiting. The portions are quite small compared to other sub shops. My brand new sweatshirt was covered in special sauce. The "Turkey" sub was dreamy. The "Peace Steak" was a dud. Not sure how I feel about Dave's overall, it definitely didn't live up to the hype. Dave's is a solid local chain. It originated in Chagrin Falls, and any Ohioan will tell you that a trip to get a Dave's sub is an NEO right of passage. In truth, I'm not like a die-hard Dave's fan, but I do like the #18 with the Italian sausage. The Dave's Marinara sauce is soooo delicious, and when it soaks into the bread it basically creates this hot mess that's really tasty and requires approximately 100 napkins. Its pretty much the only sandwich I've had at Dave's that keeps me coming back. I need to give major props to this location. Usually, this sandwich takes 10+ minutes to make at other locations (which they disclose), but for some reason, its always ready in just a few short minutes in Hudson. Not sure why, but it just comes out super speedy. Love the decor in this Dave's (and all Daves'). You can't beat the retro-hippie-vintage-music inspired vibes, which radiate in the form of hand-drawn art, records, and vintage posters. This is sort've the way to my heart... good music. Dave's Cosmic Subs are consistently delicious and made-to-order! Not as freaky fast as Jimmy John's but at Dave's, the same person who starts building your sandwich also adds the finishing touches! Dave's has a distinctive taste--I think because of the special sauce. I always order Dave's Veg-Out or the Height-Ashbury--both are vegetarian. My daughter's fave Dave is the turkey Tom while my son, a red meat lover, enjoys the Super Dave. You can order any sandwich with white or wheat, toasted or not, and short, medium or long. You can get a fountain drink or more specialty soda pop or sparkling or coconut waters in the fridge. You can eat there, although at noon it can get pretty crowded. read more

My review is for takeout only. My cousin was raving about the sandwiches here so we got sammiches for 8 and gobbled them up back at home. I had the Dave's Veg Out and was concerned about "smothered in Dave's cosmic sauce." I shouldn't have been. It was a tasty sandwich and was well dressed and not drowning. I had a chance to eat at this place a while back and the menu offers a staggering amount of choices. I ended up trying several different items over the course of a couple of weeks in the area and I can say that this place is definitely a great sub place. They offer a really really good Italian sub. The couple of times I was here the staff wasn't all that friendly but they weren't rude either. The place is decorated like a hippies paradise which makes dining there very interesting and unique. To really appreciate this place you should not only read the reviews but also look at the pictures of the subs themselves as they show just how great (and unique) the food here really is. If I lived in this area I'd have this place at least once a month for lunch no doubt. read more

Please excuse this jaded view from a sub guru. I like the shop theme but I've never found graffiti works with food places. Gives the look of grime and dirt...think subways, train yards, rat-infested abandoned buildings. Their menu is fun. I ordered a Haight-Ashbury in honor of Garcia's 76th birthday yesterday. Bread was real good as were the fresh ingredients but I'm holding it up to an east coast sub and it falls a bit short. On size mainly and therefore ingredients that can fit into it. I highly recommend any sub with Dave's Cosmic Sauce on it. It's kind of like a creamy Italian sauce and soooo good! If you want a really fresh tasting sub, my go to is the Turkey Dave. Dave, you personally humilliated me and my family yesterday accusing us of trying to steal chips. You yelled to your cashier, "Did she pay for those?" I will never step in any of your shops again. Hey, maybe don't accuse your family patrons of stealing, maybe help your staff instead of soliciting franchises and maybe don't go OCD on your cashier as to where the tickets should go. Mediocre subs on white bread that are overly expensive. I don't get why everyone likes it. My 2 little boys wouldn't eat theirs, and Subway & Jimmy Johns are 2 of their favorite restaurants. I was hoping to give a good review. Price points are the concern: Very expensive. $7.75 for 6 inch. There is no 12 inch on the meatball, so if you order that, you will be getting (2) 6 inch sandwiches which is over $15.00. They did not tell us this on the phone. The veggie sandwich also $7.75 not so good. There was a spice on it that was very salty. What about lettuce, tomato and mayo? Would have been so much better. The meatball was good. But the price on this is way too expensive. The store had no business on a Tuesday night. This used to be a great place. The 23.00 total really floored us. We could have gone out to dinner. Decided to try this out on the basis of the Yelp reviews. I have to say that I was underwhelmed. I had heard that the menu was a little overwhelming and I was charged with picking up lunch for myself and the wife. I decided to look online first and get our order ready. I stepped up to the counter and ordered the subs by name and was immediately told that I needed to order by number. I hadn't even looked over at the menu board and was quickly trying to figure out the numbers corresponding to the descriptions I had in hand. I apologized for holding up the line by mentioning that the website did not have any numbers for sandwiches and the employee said, "Yeah, they need to fix that." The sandwiches were good but they were not worth the price. Sandwiches are meant to be a cheap food but you'll be lucky to get out of here with a drink and sandwich for under $10. I can get surly service at any number of other places and for less money so I probably won't return. read more
