They avoided the critical mistake of putting too much bread into the equation and losing the flavor. What a neat place. Came in for a business lunch and can't wait to get back. Had an opportunity to chat with the owner and got the whole lowdown on the farm to table concept. They use this location to butcher the meat, and then sell it through the restaurant. To buy cuts of beef to go, you need to go to their Akron store (which I will go out of my way to find soon). Big display case where they have sides of beef hanging, coolest thing I've ever seen! Well almost....the coolest thing I've ever seen is the wall of bourbon behind the bar. I like bourbon, and I've NEVER seen a collection this vast. Good thing I live on the other side of town, or I would go broke coming into this place daily! Learned they make road trips to KY for taste tests. Most recently, they went to Buffalo Trace and sampled several different barrels of Blanton's Gold. Found one they liked and had the whole barrel bottled up for their exclusive sale. At $11/ounce, that's a great deal! They also have a nice retail selection of wines, priced at reasonable prices. There is a day each week when they sell them to the restaurant patrons at retail price which is a bargain considering most places mark them up 2-3x. For lunch I had a blackened chicken salad of some sort. The chicken was a nice amount and was simply delicious! Need to come back again when I'm not cutting calories for the beef! read more

Excellent local spot for a Sunday brunch. I went for breakfast with Farmer's Breakfast option. The scrambled eggs were so hearty. They definitely real eggs. Shame it's only two eggs and if you want more you must order a side of eggs. I got four sausage links and the hash browns were crispy. I had states to the waitress that I am gluten free, so the hash browns are cooked on the same grill, so cross contamination is possible. I'm okay with the cross contamination, but anyone else who is more sensitive, be mindful! Wow. Filling and delicious. My mom enjoyed her huevos rancheros. The poblano relish really makes the dish come together. The burger and chicken sandwich were plentiful and filling for my brother and dad. A good crowd was present in the restaurant/bakery area. A smaller set of guests were present in the bourbon bar area. Wow, a lot of bourbon present there. Early on a Sunday and I don't drink anymore but that looks line a neat spot to hangout. Came here for lunch and had a wonderful meal. The French dip was magnificent. Great flavor on the meat, the bread was perfectly toasted and it was the right amount of cheese. The au jus was great also. I appreciate the fact that you can sub out your fries for any half salad on the menu. I originally thought it would only be a side salad, but you can choose any salad. I had the Cobb, which was really good also. Service was a little slow for a 1 pm lunch on a Thursday. I think there was only one server working, so giving Grace, but it was definitely slow so it might not be a good idea if you're on a time crunch. They have a nice bar in the back, I bet this would be a nice spot for dinner. read more

It's Thursday night and to be honest, probably 10 people in the restaurant. Deviled eggs were the top choices.

A cozy spot in downtown Hudson ( the town itself is cozy too). Lots of seating and we had a bigger party and fit perfectly in a cushioned raised booth. Friendly staff that were happy to give suggestions. We started with crab cakes and fried cauliflower with Kimchi. Filled up with the beef and barley soup and onion soup. Very filling and very delicious. But we kept going! A couple of us had the braised beef and pieroges. The beef was so tender and so rich with flavor. Delicious horseradish sauce! Also the short rib with potatoes and carrots. The carrots were humongous as was the giant rib bone. Tender as well. Loved the carrots but the potatoes not so much. Had we stopped with the soup and apps we would have had room for dessert but unfortunately not. We did have a ton of leftovers which made the perfect lunch the following day. Absolutely loved the food and the look of the restaurant but this is a butcher in the back with huge slabs of beef hanging. If you have a sensitive nose like I do you will smell the meat smell. That was my only real grievance for what else was a fantastic meal. read more

I had a bad experience this time around. Arrived at 6:30, ordered at 6:45, received our food an hour later--7:45. An hour! I ordered a salad with chicken, it was burnt on one side, couldn't even cut it. My husband did love his burger though. I wasn't going to say anything, however when I was asked I did mention the chicken and was broought another piece. All in all, I just wasn't impressed. This will be our last visit. there are too many other places to eat. I'm so glad that I didn't order anything too expensive. What a waste of money. Oh, and there is a charge if you use a credit card. I had heard great things and some friends and I dropped by for dinner. My fish dinner was super bland. I needed to ask for salt for both the fish and the risotto. They dried tomatoes on top were flavorful, but that was the only thing that was. The service was less than exceptional, and we didn't see our server very often . This was absolutely not worth the price. You can't charge that price and have poor service and poor food. I don't think I'll be returning. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Farmers Rail in Hudson was incredibly disappointing. From the moment I walked in, the service felt cold and dismissive. I was told that reservations were required and that this information was clearly posted on their social media and website. Before going, I had checked both their website and social media pages and found no mention whatsoever of reservations being necessary. Being told it was "clearly posted" when it simply wasn't made the interaction even more frustrating. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was how I was treated during the exchange. The tone felt unnecessarily sharp and unwelcoming. As an African American customer, I can't ignore how the interaction felt -- whether intentional or not, it left me feeling singled out and unwelcome. It's unfortunate because I was genuinely looking forward to trying this place. A little courtesy and clarity go a long way. Clear communication online and respectful customer service in person should be the bare minimum. Based on this experience, I won't be returning. read more

Slightly different from their Cuyahoga Falls location, TFR in Hudson offers a finer dining experience and extensive drink menu. The calamari appetizer was great, but our favorite dish was the braised beef & pierogis! If you're just craving a good burger, you can't go wrong with one here. It got worse! The service was slow and not accurate. The manager was absent while the wait staff and kitchen staff struggled to get orders out to tables. Waited close to an hour for food. The server was pleasant but clueless. The manager stopped by the table and had absolutely no situational awareness, so he was woefully unprepared for a complaint. I didn't want a credit off my check; I just asked him to do better, and apparently, that was too much to ask. The food was served cold, and the place still needs a good scrubbing with a degreaser, as the dining room floors are slimy and slippery. I can only imagine how bad the back-of-the-house operations are. Please do yourself a favor: skip this place; it is not worth it. read more

Love the atmosphere and wood decor in here. They don't take reservations or call aheads so you kind of need to have a backup plan if visiting but we got lucky and got a table right away at 11am when they opened. The chicken was the best chicken I've ever tasted at a restaurant - I'm so picky about chicken I rarely order it out but figured from a place that's specializes in meat you can't go wrong! My friends who got the other dishes pictured loved everything - lots of clean plates all around. The lemon tahini dressing on my kale salad was chefs kiss...going to try to recreate at home for sure. I really love that this restaurant is far to table and they own their own farm and butcher. However, the quality control needs a major revamp. We ordered brussels sprouts and had a potato in it. It's not supposed to have any potatoes. I ordered a full berry salad with salmon on top and I noticed there was some blue in the cheese which I am allergic to blue cheese. It had blue cheese on it at least that's what I was told or moldy cheese. They remade the salad and it was really a half a salad not a full salad I will take a photo. I've ordered their stuffed peppers many times in the past same as they're very salad. The stuffed peppers had a lot less cheese inside them. They just were made completely different and not as good as it has been in the past. I hate changing the review because I really love this restaurant for its farm to table, but they need to get better at their quality control. In addition, I asked for my pharaoh salmon to be medium rare and it's well done horribly dry. As I dug into my salad, some of the fruit was soggy and not fresh. As I ate my peppers, they were full of seeds. Stuffed pepper should have the seeds removed. read more

Meal took forever and the cook on it was overdone. If it's going to take over an hour, I at least expect a decent job on the meal. As you can see from the photo the corned beef was extremely dry - almost like jerky in some places. I ordered my eggs over medium. They were so overdone that I needed a knife to cut. The server offered to return them but I was starving so that's on me. The server was bright and pleasant but I won't return due to quality of food. If you want a lot of food, you won't be disappointed but the quality suffered. A big disappointment for Hudson. read more

I've probably had the TFR smash burger 30 times the last few years. Tonight was the worst burger I've had there, credit to the manager, they took it off my bill. It was dry and not cheesy. I highly recommend this place, burgers are good 95% of the time, steaks are always good, drinks are strong, service is great. Will be back in a week or two. read more

When we arrived we were told it would be a 30-45 min. wait. Unfortunately we weren't able to wait and visited another nearby restaurant. Ordered juevos rancheros ("sunny side eggs") and the corned beef hash medium eggs. Two cooks, two ladies I think who "help"? Maybe due to closed sign the place was not busy. Certainly lots of empty tables. Food took FOREVER (over an hour). Arrived overcooked (see pic). The only saving grace for the experience was the cheery, lovely Tanya. It is a travesty that Farmer's Rail has as low of a rating as it does. First off, the dishes with meat are some of the best due to locally sourced, fresh meat. Even the burgers are noticeably better than your usual burger. That being said, I think the people that have a negative experience are far louder and likely to leave a review than those that have a wonderful experience. So don't give the too much weight. In addition to the wonderful food, their bourbon selection is second to none and their cocktails are tasty too! You will notice most of the negative reviews are not saying the food or drinks are bad. Love this place! The sturdy wooden table had enough space for our party of 7 without hassle. We all felt welcome, from grandma to the little kids. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and comfortable, could work for family dinner like what we did or would be a great date spot or hanging out with friends for drinks. The hosts and servers were sweet and kind and funny! I was impressed that the server who helped us remembered what my little nephew had eaten there last time he went in with his parents-- and they'd been in only once! What an absolute hero of a server this woman is! I wish I remembered her name! So about the food-- The food was delicious and the drinks were perfect! You can always judge a bar by its old fashioned and they made it just right and the price was pretty standard these days. It was worth it though. We got the charcuterie board as an appetizer and it didn't disappoint. The selection on the plate was incredibly satisfying and worth the price- I have to say that because I've had more expensive boards with less pizzazz. This one was tasty!! For my main I got a honey sriracha pork chop with extra asparagus instead of mashed potatoes. The pork chop was nice and thick and robustly flavorful. I could eat that many times over. Very well balanced seasoning. The asparagus was incredible! I'm not really a vegetable person but I want to go back to get that asparagus!! Holy cow. Or I guess, holy pig? Holy asparagus!! Haha yeah. Came here for brunch on a weekend on a whim based on the reviews. We were pleasantly surprised by the entrees and portions were huge however I would have preferred a few more lunch items available. Most of the menu was breakfast and somewhat challenging for GF. The biscuits and gravy were stellar but huge portion. Like please offer a half portion... same with a side of sausage...it's enough for two people! Or my 3 year old . Otherwise it was an expensive disappointment. We stopped for a late lunch. We chose this restaurant because they had high rating on the Seed Oil Scout app. We ordered the wings for our starter and they were the best of what we ordered. They weren't crispy, but they weren't greasy and that's a plus. The sauce was pretty sweet, but tasty. We had wedding soup and French Onion Soup. The wedding soup smelled and tasted like the kind of pre-made soups they serve in hospital cafeterias. The noodles were mushy and the meatballs were just large meatballs cut in quarters. The bread that came with the soup was dry and stale. The onion soup was fine, but unremarkable. My husband had the lamb burger, which was dry and salty and very strongly lamb flavored. My husband likes a strong lamb flavor, so that didn't bother him, but he was put off by the salt and the dryness. Shockingly, my husband didn't eat the fries. This is something that never happens. They were frozen fries and just weren't very good. I had the seasonal salad with chicken added. The chicken was good, but the "blistered" tomatoes were off putting and the other ingredients in the salad didn't mesh well. The name of the restaurant gave us certain expectations, and that's bad on us, I guess. We expected homemade soup, fresh cut fries and fresh bread. Live and learn. read more
