I just had quite possibly the worst order ever here. We ordered a reuben sandwich and pierogies with grilled onions. The corned beef for the reuben was old, not tender or moist in the least. There was maybe 2 tablespoons of sauerkraut on it. The sandwich came to us falling apart. The thing was microwaved with the cheese and sauerkraut on...maybe that's why it was so awful? We had to throw out the bread and eat it with a knife and fork. The pierogies were a joke. They took frozen pierogies out of the freezer and microwaved them. Then they slapped barely cooked onions on them and served them like that. The pierogi edges were all hard, we had to tear them all off to try to eat them. They were nasty. We ended up throwing out the entire order. Curious as how the restaurant is okay with serving that crap.They obviously see it, but they just don't care. Save your money and avoid this place. I didn't order it the traditional way, because it was minus the slaw, but I couldn't imagine the size it would have been with that included as well. We kept passing this by every time we would be leaving the casino. My wife always wanted to stop in as she truly loves gyros and this place is right on the way. Last night as we were leaving the casino we finally had the time and decided to stop. I've heard people rave about this place and for the life of me. I can't understand what the heck they're talking about. Upon entering the establishment all I heard was extremely loud rap music. I'm OK with any kind of music, but let's keep it at a level where you can actually hear What the person behind the counter is saying. I figured that if the gyros were good, they can play the music as loud as they want and I'm OK with that. I was greeted by the person behind the counter. Actually, I wasn't greeted. I inconvenienced them with my presence. I ordered a jumbo Gyro and my wife and I were going to share it as my wife doesn't eat very much but she does like good food. I know that I should not reward rudeness, but I did leave a 20% tip. We waited for our Gyro to be made as they are made to order. I was very happy about this as I did not want to get some old dried out Gyro that have been sitting in the back. I was starting to get excited about getting this great gyro. After about 20 minutes, my excitement started to fade. People were walking in ordering their food, getting their food and then walking out. I'm a very patient person and I did not want to rush them so I waited patiently. After a few more people came in, my wife went up to the front And asked if they were working on our order. The woman behind the counter said sit down and wait, Karen. My wife's name is not Karen and I took it as the person was being rude. At this time, my wife started to get upset and since we are not confrontational, we simply left without our food. We paid for a jumbo Gyro and even gave a 20% tip and left without our food. What I did notice about this place was that it was not clean. I was in the military so I'm used to eating food. That's not the cleanest. The cook kept on wiping his nose and scratching himself as he was warming up the Gyro meat. I didn't see his hands touch the meat, but they did touch the pita bread while in there I did go to the bathroom and noticed that the bathroom had several other inhabitants in it being of the roach type. I did not see any roaches behind the counter or near the food, but I'm sure that they probably made their way there a few times. Would I recommend this place? I'm sure that they have great gyros unfortunately, I've never had one. I've paid for one. We've gotten some serious attitude, but have never eaten one. Maybe it's a blessing. Maybe I would've gotten sick if I did. Maybe this was divine intervention. Maybe the person behind the counter who insulted my wife was doing us a favor. The customer service is absolutely terrible. I ordered a corn beef on Texas toast with mustard and pickles. I got a cold sandwich with cheese. I retuned the sandwich asked them to toast the bread no cheese just mustard and pickle. The manager proceeded to get reckless with her mouth. So I asked for a refund. She tells me I can't get a refund only the GM can give refunds. I asked her to show me proof of policy... crickets. I gave you cash, give me my cash back. Manager suggested calling the police sounds like a good idea to me. She calls police after I decide to take back my $2.00 tip accusing me of stealing. Horrible!! My office ordered lunch, picked up & had a 3% service charge added to our bill even though we paid cash. Only to open the gyros to find that they did leave off items that were requested to be left off. Then to top it all off.... The pita was old and broke apart when folded over and had a foul taste. Gyros cut as they should be, rather than sliced deli meat like some restaurants. Not a fan they charge a 3% credit card convenience fee. Convenient for who? Dining room was partially closed on a cold day so had to sit near the door and breeze with every person that entered. Staff and service were good. Tip: beer prices are very good. Tip2: if you get an XL gyro, order an extra gyro pita bread to have another gyro a day or two later with the extra meat. Well forward to 2018 in June... back again. I just can't get past the corned beef hash n eggs. It's sooo good! Bf had a Greek salad then a gyro. It's so big he had to eat it with a fork lol!! Baklava yummy too. I ate that first with my coffee for breakfast !! The owners are still great and staff. Signature move for me on the weekend. Zucchini fries were $4.99. Piping hot! Served with a delectable creamy ranch. Strong amount of zucchini to breading ratio, and nice lengthy sticks rather than hunks or chunks. The breading itself was crispy and light, not too fattening feeling, but not super thin like some tempura battered styles I have had. The Jr. Chicken Gyro had some nice chopped veggies atop a pleasantly seasoned sliced grilled chicken breast, with added feta for delish robust flavor, and a creamy cucumber sauce to tie it altogether. I must say the pita these toppings floated amidst was the deal sealer. Warm, fresh, doughy, not too thick, not too thin... one perfect piece of pita, friends! Go check this place out if you're in the Northfield area. Is there anything more disturbing that a spiral of lamb spinning on an open-air vertical rotisserie? I realize this is the typical way to cook "Yee-roh" meat, but it still erks the hell out of me. At Best Gryro's, there's two spits of meat spinning in all of it's glory just behind the counter. What if someone sneezes? What if there's Swine Flu in the air? Surely this can't be sanitary, can it? Ah hell, everyone else orders 'em, so they can't be that bad for you, right? For lunch I threw aside my inhibitions and ordered the Regular Philly Gyro, which consisted of shaved "meat" (a lamb/beef combo?), peppers & onions with a cucumber yogurt sauce served open faced on a grilled pita. The portions were HUGE! There was no feasible way for any normal human to eat this in a sandwich form. (Note to self: the "junior" portion would be plenty next time). The gyro was decent, but not the "best" as the self titled local chain proclaims. It's also worth noting, the store-front in this Northfield location is a renovated Arthur Treachers, so you can imagine the decor is very bland looking. I'm giving 2 stars and that's being nice. The food is good but....HOW ARE YOU STINGY WITH LETTUCE AND TOMATOES!!! I WANT MY GYRO TO BE FULL. If I wanted barely to nothing lettuce or tomatoe, I would make it myself. This place is THE ONLY company who is stingy with the add-ons. 1/3/2021: in this pandemic you would hope a company would appreciate your business . Best gyro gave a huge wow moment ! I Didn't know they open at 10:00am called a few times before they open ! Called at 10:00 guy answered with an attitude. Ordered food for me and co workers spent a nice amount of money. Co worker went to pick up food, the guy rudely told her we don't open till 10 tell the person that !! And on top of that they had the nerve to ask for a TIP‼ what a joke !! Won't be spending my money there anymore!! And they forgot the rest of my gyro too !! Been going here for years. So much so they know me by name and what I'm typically going to order. They have both traditional and chicken gyros. As a matter of fact they have multiple flavors for their gyros like Cajun, bourbon, BBQ, bacon and cheese just to name a few. I've tried a few of the flavors and all have been good but I'm kinda traditionalist and love their regular gyro. Their corned beef is also very tasty. Maybe not the best I've had but better than many delis I've been to. This is a great little hole in the wall place, the building used to house an Arthur Treachers. The only think I think could be better is their tzatziki sauce. Very little cucumber or seasoning taste. Pretty much a lightly flavored sour cream. Fortunately, my hotel provides a handy-dandy list of all the local eateries.... So, tonight was Gyro night.... Of course I'll always check Yelp for menus, and Best Gyros was on that list... I was instantly intrigued by their "specialty" Gyros, so I took the drive.... Now, mind you, up until now, I've only eaten "traditional" Gyros, so, I was in for an adventure... I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Gyro (hold the lettuce, add mushrooms).... and when I got back to the hotel, I opened the clam shell.... HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP!!! I had to use a fork to eat down all the tidbits before I was able to fold it!! (got the "regular" size). I love a good Philly... I love a good Gyro... but mixing them together resulted in a food-gasm... tender meat, freshly grilled onions, sharp cheddar, red peppers and mushrooms wrapped up in a soft Pita.... it was absolutely delicious!!! Happy New Year! This place is like a 4.5 star for me! They have ample things on the menu but the GYROS is all I came for. As you walk in you see the beautiful meat just rotating and thats exactly what you want. Got the regular size gyro and it was delicious and served with ample meat!
