As a local I was craving a burger and didn't want to make the drive all the way to In-N-Out, so I said let's try Flip for the first time. It'd be great to score a place 3 minutes from my house where I could reliably go when the burger pangs hit. It would also be nice to support local business. I was looking for a classic burger date with the missus. Two classic cheeseburgers, shakes, and a fry to share. Sad state of society when that comes out to $50, but I'm never one to shy away from treating myself. I just hoped the experience was worth the pretty penny (R.I.P. penny, we will miss you). Mixed review. In order of escalating chaos. The malt shakes were an absolute hit! We got one vanilla and one chocolate. Both were so flavorful with the perfect consistency that melted into a delicious drinkable shake as the meal went on. The burger was decent and they get credit for effort. Seemed they packed their patties and threw them on the griddle, no smash-burger technique here. Kind of puzzling as the crust and maillard is what makes burgers delicious in my opinion. This had none of that. Just loose beefy flavor with a thousand islandy sauce. Tasted good but not worth the cost of admission. Lastly, the fries. Oh boy, the fries. They came out hot, and the first few bites were okay, but as they cooled down it seemed they had been overcooked or bathed in week-old fry oil. They were acrid and ashtray tasting. Left an awful taste in my mouth, even as I was walking back to my car. There was a lot of potential here, but to reach 4 stars it would have to be a place I'd think to re-visit. If I was just reading this place based on the food, I'd probably give it a five. I love the burgers here. The buns are delicious. The sauce is perfect and I love the higher quality ingredients for both the burgers and the shakes. Gosh, the shakes are great. But this place is so dirty and gross. My husband and I will absolutely no longer go to this place anymore because it's just so filthy. I don't think they've properly cleaned it since they opened however many years ago. They ought to consider just closing for a couple of days and hiring somebody to properly clean the place. The lack of cleanliness in the restaurant makes me curious about the cleanliness standards in the kitchen. I've certainly seen the cook take money from people with his bare hands and go straight back to cooking with his bare hands...yuck. These people need to visit from a health inspector... It's too bad. I'd originally left a one star review months ago and felt like a jerk. So I took it down and continued visiting. Most times it was ok. The burgers always taste good so I've really tried to ignore the crap customer service but last night was the last time I'll spend money here. Not only was there 0 friendliness or gratitude for having people wanting to spend money in this space, the person working looked like he'd rather be doing anything other than be there. We all have crap days, but we also all have to put on a smile when working in customer service. I do it everyday. In addition, prepping food with bare hands and going back and forth ringing people on the register is disgusting. I really didn't want to take my order but I wanted to interact with the person working even less, he seemed so miserable. I'd rather frequent any other place in town that actually values their customers and prepares food in a clean manner. Wow! This place is a GEM. If you want a deliciously seasoned burger, cooked to perfection that's juicy and flavorful then you better come here! The burger was outstanding. The hand cut fries were so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfectly salted and the fry sauce was also delicious. Really happy I found this place! If you're looking for a good battered fish n' chips, this is the place for it. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious and well coated this was. They make each order freshly fried. The fish was moist and the batter crispy. Which, is very hard to find. I don't know if I was just hungry because of a mini walk through Emigrant Lake or the smell of the dish. Whatever it was I can't recommend this place more. They also have a nice selection of house-made hot sauces. They are each different but undeniably tasty. The only thing I warn anyone of when you are trying anything spicy is to take a small taste of it first. Carolina Reapers and habaneros are pretty intense chili peppers. I liked how balanced everything was and the drinks they serve there are also great pairings for anything you order. The order came with three pieces of very small(filets were maybe 1 1/2 inch each) and batter fell off when I tried to eat and filers were undercooked and soggy. The burgers are small but well crafted. Fresh brioche, perfectly cooked burger, shaved onion, and thinly sliced lettuce. Now let's also mention the front counter staff/woman who was working with him, not only did she NOT greet us when we came in, and we were the only people in the restaurant. We walked in and were looked at by both the cook and her, like we didn't belong there or made to feel like how dare you come in here close to closing time? So We thought? We even asked if they were about to close thinking that was the disapproval look We were getting?? We even looked at the hours on the door just to be sure we checked they still had 3 1/2 hrs until they closed. We politely greeted her and tried being cheerful and happy to see if she would come around and help us with questions that we had and being cheerful would lighten her demeanor, or put a smile on her face but nope no luck.
