I love BBQ, and wanted this to work so badly as Southern Oregon desperately needs a great BBQ spot. This unfortunately isn't it. I always get brisket, a neutral cut of beef that the Pit master can use to show their skill. Dry, and a bit chewy. A waste of such a lovely cut of beef. Mac and Cheese was watery, burnt ends were like chewing gum. I have been back 3 times to make sure it wasn't just an off day. Maybe I came on a bad day/time but I wasn't impressed. The customer service left more to be desired... After getting my food I looked at google reviews and woahh, the owner's replies are vicious calling people names and saying people are abusing or spitting on him for leaving bad reviews. Yikes! Red flag waving I am from North Carolina and Texas so I definitely know bbq, it's in my DNA. This definitely ain't it! But there isn't any good bbq in southern Oregon and this is as close as you'll get here, so far... I did love the sweet & smokey bbq sauce though. The cornbread is extremely bland, needs some salt and honey for sure. The potato-mac salad could use some improvements but overall not awful, just a bit too much thick mayo, a touch of lemon would help brighten the flavor and loosen the claggy texture. The brisket was sadly dry and rubbery and lacked depth :/ bummer, underwhelming experience, takes a long time and is expensive I will try again in hopes this time was just a fluke on a busy day and looking forward to the bbq sauce lol. I dont want the owner to be triggered or upset by this review bc I do prefer to support local businesses but, dude you gotta do better with customer service and see these bad reviews as an opportunity to improve. We wanted this to be good. It's so close and has great outdoor seating. But it's not. Save your money. Seem like good guys but they don't know bbq. The meat tastes bland like it' is baked in an oven and then slathered in sauce. No smoke flavor or caramelization on ribs or burnt ends at all. The sides weren't good either. The meat was not only tender, but incredibly flavorful. The firmness was just right, so you could leave a bite mark on it. One time I got a beef rib with little meat on it. The owner gave me a replacement. It's a good idea to say something if you happen to get bad meat. read more

Simple bbq food truck with food home style bbq. The Texas Twinkies were delicious and a were a medium hot in spice. The pulled pork was on point, moist and flavorful (my favorite). It had good smoke and sweetness to the pork. The sausage was tasty, had good flavors but a tad too dry for my liking. There is a lot of BBQ flavor missing as well as the quality of the food used. Went for my first time a week ago. The macaroni and cheese was gritty and did not have an appealing taste to it. The brisket was tough and not a good flavor to it either. I would not return to this place. Locally sourcing your ingredients is important as well. read more

This was our first time eating at this establishment we were so excited as we live in a small town so good options are more limited. It's a new spot with many different food places/choices all in one space called the Phoodery. We really love BBQ so we opted for Ma's my fiancé ordered and the women working the counter were rude and couldn't even fake being happy or crack a smile. He got the Pulled Pork w/ bbq sauce, jalapeños, slaw and pickled onions with a side of Mac and Cheese. When we got the sandwich it was very lightly dressed with bbq so he kindly went up to ask for a little extra and was met by a what do you want from one of the ladies working the line. Overall the sandwich was good. The mac and cheese was not great or very creamy it had more of a curdled appearance. 4 stars for the sandwich ~ 0 Stars for the service it was so bad that I had to give an overall experience a 3 we came on a Sunday noonish. read more

The restaurant was not busy at all and several employees were standing not doing anything. (Apparently). My order was not complex and I expected the food in a few minutes at most. I waited right at 12 min and just I saw them prepare the meal about 30 seconds before my name was called. The people were friendly and I don't want to leave negative reviews about them, they were great. The Mac and cheese was very overcooked and more of a mush. The brisket was dry and though I like the burnt ends, I had to spit several of them out because I could not chew them. I would not order this dish again, and I hope they streamline their process for order fulfillment. Again, this review is on only the food that I had, and on the process management, not the employees. Wow, what a find! On my way south on the I5, I did a quick google search for "best bbq in grants pass" and Ma's was in the top 3. I ordered the pork ribs and they did not disappoint. Meaty, tender and the dry rub was delicious! I choose the sweet jalapeño sauce which paired with the ribs expertly. Sweet, tangy and with just enough heat. I got corn and the purple slaw as sides...super YUM! Both accompaniments were unique, savory, and obviously hand made. Portion sizes were generous. Service was friendly and fast. Saw 4.5/5 rating and decided to try this place for lunch. Equated to no more than a very overpriced snack. Side dishes are served in tiny medicine cups and Meat portion was barely enough. It took an HOUR to get a bbq sandwich. Our entire party had finished their food and it was another 20 minutes before my food was ready. I went up there 3 times to see when my food was ready. "just 8 more minutes, then just 5 more minutes, we are working on it right now." Did I mention that they weren't even that busy? SLOWEST staff I have ever witnessed. Mediocre food at best. Macaroni and cheese was runny. Worst $30 I have ever spent. How could it take so long to put some meat on a bun? Disappointing to say the least.
