We stopped by the Main BBQ House -which literally looks like a house- for lunch. The place is located in a neighborhood but off a major road. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We noticed people generally picking up their call in orders. There is room inside however; but not for a large group. Catering would be recommended. Parking is street parking. My husband, Michael, and I are both from Texas. I was born there; he ranched and cowboyed there for 40 years after I left for California. Suffice it to say both of us know GOOD ribs. The ribs we regularly get at The BBQ House are DANG good ribs -- the best that either of us have ever eaten. They are fall off the bone tender and the homemade sauce the owner makes is absolutely wonderful. The owner gives extra with an order or a half order of ribs. Yummmmm! I spent some time living in the south, so that kind of ruined me for most BBQ here out west. But this place is the real deal. Excellent, excellent barbecue. I don't give five stars, unless it's crazy over the top spectacular. Was flying out of Medford, Oregon, and looking for a barbecue joint. Staff was very friendly, it was empty when we were there. great hole in the wall place. the brisket and the pulled pork was very good. The baked beans were very good, the barbecue sauce was very good. Next time I fly into or out of Medford, I will definitely be stopping by to pick up some of that delicious barbecue. So glad the restaurant we were on the way to was closed and on vacation because we circled back and decided to give this place a try!! BBQ House isn't much to look at, but they have damn good BBQ and sides! The gentleman tending to us was also very courteous and hospitable. The storefront itself was very minimalistic with only three small tables inside and a patio area outside. All of the other patrons had pick up or to go orders. We had a good time eating inside and enjoyed our meals with their two savory homemade sauces. There was also a flat screen tv on the wall that played funny videos. Service is very minimal as is the "ambiance " and interior. The brisket was fork tender with a little hint of smoke. Pulled pork was good but lacked flavor if it wasn't for the mustard or bbq sauce. Mac and cheese lacked any seasoning. As a side, the beans were great. Here is why I only gave a 3. The men's room was as filthy as one you'd find at a gas station. Had I gone there first I would have left without ordering. Last of all, the yard was full of weeds. If they can't make the place and clean then why bother? Lunch "crowd " at noon was also minimal. I would prefer all the sauce on the side since they got no problem with putting extras with bags in the to-go, but wasn't given that option. Slaw was better than the beans. Brisket was better than the ribs but both were better than the pulled pork. Maybe it was that weird sauce on it that's in my picture. In town for work and wanted some bbq for dinner. Found this little gem and was not disappointed! Came in late, so was glad they hadn't sold out! The owner was great, quick service and very friendly. I got the big plate with brisket, sausage, and ribs. He makes the sausage himself, and said he just changed the spice recipe (added jalapeños) which gave it a delicious zing. The brisket was falling apart tender and the ribs were great, but the sausage was definitely my favorite. I'll definitely be stopping here again before I leave town. read more

Friendly service but this place is a scam. The seating is not inviting and it smells like cigarettes when you walk in. The food portions are generous but that didn't do me any favors since the sides ended up in the trash. These people don't even know how to cook rice, it was hard and the spices were off. The potato salad and macaroni were notably bad as well. It seems like they are trying to mix American staples with an odd Mediterranean flavor palette that I couldn't quite put my finger on but not tasty nonetheless. They do offer big portions of meat but the brisket I had was dry yet had a huge chunk of fat on it and no seasoning. It tasted like bland pot roast. And the worst sin for any bbq place...store bought bbq sauce! I believe most of the reviews are a scam because the owners also run a "marketing" company, so it's not hard to figure out what is going on here. read more

At first like any restaurant, I was worried about the portion size particularly because the three meat plate was $25, which is quite a bit of money, but after eating it, I could not move. I was so full and I could barely eat all the meat and I am not a petite girl. This was a very filling experience and I would absolutely recommend them and go again. They serve it on a bed of rice, but it's yellow rice that's flavored very well which I was impressed with. I got mac & cheese and the baked beans. It was delicious. Brisket fell apart. My man got the ribs so I was able to try that and those were really good as well also fall off the bone. I liked the hot link and the pulled pork was good. It's had a hint of a Smokey flavor too. Absolutely would go here again. Maybe even order a smaller plate next time haha. The Mac and cheese is on the "runnier side" like it's a valveta or something like that. This hole in the wall BBQ restaurant was absolutely astounding. The manager explained this is a newer restaurant in town, which is tucked away off West Main Street. I ordered the two plate combo with brisket and sausage. The brisket was extremely tender and had a great smoked flavor. It pulled apart so easy with a fork. The sausage is smoked in house and tasted great. As sides I ordered the beans, Texas toast, and Mac and cheese. I enjoyed all three, but the best were the mac and cheese and Texas toast. The Mac and cheese had a great texture and was very creamy. The manager was extremely friendly and provided excellent service and recommendations. I have heard great things about this place and was excited to try it. Man was I disappointed! I had the ribs and brisket, both left a lot to be desired. The ribs were tough and chewy, like they forgot to take the membrane off the back. The brisket was gray and over cooked. The brisket was one step from being jerky. The service was minimal, the guy didn't talk much, other than just asking me what I wanted and giving me a total. The place is minimal, which isn't always a bad thing, so it's what ever. This is the best bbq place I've ever been to. Don't look like much from the outside, but the food and the service will definitely make up for it. The owner is the cook and he saw us talking to other people and he brought us some fresh ribs and he asked us to try them and they were mouth watering, so delicious best ribs ever! The restaurant feels homey where you would want to stay and get lost in conversation. Absolutely amazing and delicious, I would recommend this place to anyone who is in the area, I would drive 200 miles to come back there and eat it again! My husband wanted BBQ as we were driving through Oregon back to SF. This place does not disappoint. The owner was friendly and the menu was simple. We ordered a brisket sandwich and plate. The brisket was awesome. Just the right amount of fat and so tender, juicy and tasty! The beans and mac and cheese were special as well. There was rice added to our plate. I've been driving by this place for the last few months watching the owners put in a lot of work to transform the old house. I finally stopped in to get takeout and I would give this place 10 stars if I could. I got the three meats plate with two sides. My meats were brisket, pulled pork and ribs. The meat was moist and the meat from the ribs fell off the bones. For the two sides, I got Mac and cheese and beans. The Mac was amazing and the beans were so flavorful. Was hoping for more great que from this place, and I have mixed reviews. My partner loved his sausage plate with slaw and potato salad. He likes spicy. I had the 3 meat plate with ribs, brisket and pulled pork, potato salad and Mac n cheese. Brisket was on the dry side. Ribs had a serious rub that was too much for me, but tasty except for that. Pulled pork was also a little dry but good with the red sauce. Potato salad was spicy- not sure where that heat came from. Mac n cheese was ok but nothing special. I had rave review for our last visit. This time I'm a 3 and he's a 5 so 4 overall. Not sure if we will try again. And still not sure what the rice is all about- I'm a barbecue fanatic but can't remember que that came with rice before. Sauces are great. read more
