Have you ever bought shoes to try them on at home because no one would help you in the store? My daughter and I waited 45 minutes with three shoes in our hands while asking repeatedly to try some on. Finally we chose one style and walked to the counter. I asked them to get the proper size and we purchased them to try at home. This place has TERRIBLE service. Maybe the owner needs to stick around here a little more. They waste time doing this prolonged custom sizing for clients while ignoring the ones that just want to try and buy shoes. Hello Yelpers -I'd like to tell you my life story, but I'll just hit parts that are applicable to Fleet Feet. I was born without hip sockets, and I've had a lot of hip surgery. I can get away with wearing Converse for day to day walking, but I need a solid, supportive, high end shoe when exercising. I love the personalized service, the patience, professionalism, foot scanner, and attention to detail offered at Fleet Feet. I've purchased 3 pairs of shoes, and this is definitely the spot to get shoes to support your running/walking/fitness goals. Advice and observations I've been given at Fleet feet, are in direct correlation with what my orthopedist and surgeon have said. The last pair that I bought weren't as comfortable as I had hoped. My arches were achey, and I tried to move past the pain in 4 separate 7 mile walks. Today I brought them back. I was greeted with smiles, understanding, and given store credit to find the perfect shoe once again. I love that they store all of my information in their database, and they're able to look up which shoes worked for me in the past. I highly recommend this place! In summary: They work with you one on one. They're high tech and know their stuff! The customer service is great, and the shoe selection is a power walker/runner's dream. I am so pleased at the level of service at this Fleet Feet location. I was having problems with my feet because I walk way more than the average person. The gal that helped me was so patient to listen to my foot issues. She watched me walk. I stood on a machine to get my foot imprint and then tried on no less than 5 shoes. This is a funny aside but she tied shoes in the most interesting way! I would recommend going just for that experience when the shelter in place is over. This review was long coming obviously. So back to my feet. I got my shoes and a pair of socks and was told to get out there and use them and if I needed to bring them back, I could. Well, after a month of wearing the shoes and exercising in them, I DID need to bring them back because my hip had started hurting. A new ailment! You know what? They really do give you your money back! Not one problem. No awkward moments when I apologize profusely. Nothing. They just gave me my money back and said that I could come back again or whatever I needed to do. Due to COVID, there's a sign in the front that requires sign in to limit # of people. I like that. It keeps customers and employee safe. He is very knowledgeable about running shoes, the build of the shoes, and most importantly, very patient. He ended up helping both myself and my wife. We both tried different shoes, different sizes, different widths, and different brands until we found the ones we like. After my purchase and further experience with the shoes at home, I realized they are not a slam dunk. I brought them back and Kyle gladly helped again with additional outstanding service, including ordering online for what their store does not carry. Most of their inventory is geared toward mainstream running, so there aren't many of the Hoka lines, Altras, or other trail/ultra running preferred shoes. I visited this store in April based on my friend suggestion. Took a shoe for my wife and ordered one for me (coz of color) on the same day at the store (btw, billing screwed up), sales person told me that they will call when shoe is shipped to the store and it can take 1 week or so. 2 weeks gone by, no call from the store. When I called, response was yes I can pick anytime. When I arrived at store, they gave me the same color shoe which I don't want in the first place. They place the order again and 2 weeks after I called them (no call again) and they started telling that it seems that they are not getting the shoe to the store and I can order online. If that is the case, I would have done on that day itself instead of following up with the store and wasting my time. Regarding the billing screw up - That was pathetic, don't want to say more than that. I am very much disappointed with this store and the sales person in the store. These people know running, live running, & love running & I love Fleet Feet Sports Looking for some new running shoes to jump start the new year & aid in my efforts to slim the eff down My old pair of Sauconys were so old they discontinued the model (embarrassing) But the uber-kind staff at Fleet Feet didn't even blink an eye. I told them about my little quirks ( i.e., pronation, knee issues, blah, blah, blah) and off we went to try on a bunch of shoes I was pretty adamant that I was a Saucony girl & in the end, that's the brand I went with.....but it was so NICE to know that I made the right decision. After trying on various different brands & fits, getting a hands-on assessment (literally!) of how the shoe went over my foot & hugged all my piggies, walking around / being evaluated in my gait & having the best 1-on-1 attention, I am super confident that these are the right shoes for me Feels like I'm walking on little clouds of awesomeness & *no knee pain* woot woot!! I thought my friends&family were kidding when they told me that I absolutely had to go to Fleet Feet to get shoes.. I thought I could just look up shoes online&order them, but after my last pair of shoes started giving me pains, I decided to finally get to Fleet Feet Sports. I was skeptical, but I'm a believer now! The guy who helped me, Erik, was so friendly and so helpful! First, he measured my foot [and the boy's], and saw how we stood/walked barefoot. Then, he brought out shoes that he thought would support us the best, and his reccomendations were spot on! He took us outside to watch us run a little, and was just very helpful about everything. He explained the pros&cons of each shoe we tried on, and was very knowledgeable about shoes in general. This is the place to go if you are serious about running. Getting the proper equipment to prevent injury was my top priority. I am returning to running after a very long hiatus. I needed great shoes and an even better bra. I walked out with both of these necessities and a little more! Tony fit me (for shoes, perverts!!) and he really knows his stuff. Came here today for some inserts to help with a tendon problem and it seemed more like a trip to the running doctor. Joe, the person who helped me out, diagnosed me with pronation, found shoes designed to help with that problem, and selected the right insert for me. He was extremely knowledgeable and great to work with. I left the best feeling shoes I've had on in years. Two pair, actually, since the prices were reasonable. Since fellow yelper Chris K' recommended Fleet Feet and one of my Fit Club mates works here...I figured I couldn't go wrong! That's right...I have have joined the masses and want to get in shape for the New Year. Apparently good shoes are one of the top things you need if you're going to do any walking or running...(also a bunch of hyper motivated running buddies doesn't hurt...but that's not what this is about). So back to the store....Heather waited on me and she was awesome!!! She also happens to be in my Fit Club and is very in tune with all types of fitness levels. As mentioned in other reviews, you're going to want to allow about an hour for your shoe fitting. This store carries all the name brands and some I hadn't heard of. Also they have a great selection of insoles for all different arch types. They have some cool clothes, accessories and even special soap for washing your moisture wicking work out clothes. Can't say enough about the great service and education I got from this store....Did you know that the cheapo tennies that you can get at TJ Mexx and Big 5 are different than the ones in stores like this? I recently had knee surgery. My doctor just cleared me up for light jogging, but he also recommended a good pair of shoes! I was thinking what the heck does that mean?? I always went and just a pair of shoes! After talking to one of my friends, she recommended this place although she hasn't been there herself! LOL! So, I go there, and they are super friendly although I get there almost at closing time. The created a profile for me with the all the foot measurements (with and without weight), and watched me walk several times without shoes. It turns out that I both pronate with one foot and supinate with another!! I was the challenge they needed for the day! Well, they took their time to find couple of shoes, and they fitted them with a special insole. I haven't tried them for jog yet, but they felt super comfortable when I was walking with them while they were watching. It took them an hour to find me the right shoe, but they didn't rush me even though they had already closed. The price is a little high, but you are not just paying for the shoes. I believe you are paying for the service and their time too. As mentioned in some of the reviews, they do keep your profile for next time when you go back. This way they can evaluate your current shoes, and see how it worked. I think I go back there again! read more

Unfortunately, neither shoe I tried worked out so I ended up returning them. I do love the Balega socks that they recommended so I will continue to purchase them there. When they carry more selections for wide-ish feet I will return because they have excellent customer service and a generous return policy you don't experience at other shoe stores. I brought my mom here for shoes this morning for a late Mother's Day present ( and yes, I know tomorrow is already Father's Day :P) I was very impressed with how much time the guy who helped her spent finding the perfect shoe for her. He asked her several questions, like what did she plan on using the shoes for, what sort of activities does she do, etc. Her main concern was that she has spurs on her feet and is also diabetic and that she wanted something comfortable to walk in. She tried on a couple pairs of shoes that he recommended for her needs, both of which he had her try on and walk around inside and outside with. She was really pleased with the second pair of shoes he brought out for her and that's what we ended buying. The shoes were on sale for $115 and she got a few pairs of socks she swears by at $12 a pair. She continued to tell me that on her trip to Las Vegas last month, she bought of pair of shoes from Fleet Feet. She said all the shoes there were $100 for any pair of shoes and the socks she bought today were only $11 in Vegas. However, she said she didn't get nearly the amount of attention from the person at the Vegas shop and the shoes she bought there aren't as comfortable and great as the ones she got today. So thumbs up to the Pleasanton shop. You were a bit more expensive, but definitely worth it. You made my mom a happy camper and she's been walking all over the place today with a smile on her face. I've been buying my shoes at Fleet Feet Pleasanton for many years. They are runners and they know running shoes. Whether you are just starting out or a marathon maniac, they will treat you with respect. They listen to you, watch you run, and recommend shoes that work for you. Running form changes over time. If you order the same shoe from an online store over and over again you are asking for pain and injury. These folks keep track of every shoe I've ever bought from them and work with me every visit to make sure I'm in the best shoe for ME. You can't get that from an online store!!! They are more than a shoe store!!! They sponsor and support weekly FREE group runs on Saturday mornings (from the store) and Tuesday evening track workouts (Pleasanton Middle School track). The Tuesday evening runs switch to hill runs originating at the store in the winter. They also have periodic paid programs for 5K, half marathon, marathon and triathlon. Their race club welcomes runners of all abilities and offers group long runs on Sundays, a closed FaceBook group, and a cool t-shirt. Every community needs a store like this!!! read more

I'm thoroughly impressed by the expertise and experience of the staff at the Pleasanton Fleet Feet! Everyone I have been helped by has extensive running experience and it's great to be able to swap stories and get running tips from the staff. On my first visit last summer, I was given great advice on how to properly use energy replenishing gels (e.g. GU) while I was training for the SF half marathon. On my most recent visit on Saturday 1/28/12, I needed to replace my Brooks as I started developing shin splints while training for an upcoming marathon in May, and could probably attribute the problem to my shoes. I was helped by Katy, who was so patient and helpful as she gave me an extensive fitting where she measured my feet and observed my posture and gait while walking barefoot across the room. I have flat feet, and Katy brought me two options that give arch support for me to test out (Brooks Adrenaline and Asics GEL-Kayano 18. I tested each pair in a couple of sizes by running a short distance on the sidewalk outside. Katy also had me try on some shoe inserts to help with heel stabilization, and introduced me to some poly-blend socks that should help wick away moisture. I ended up purchasing the Asics, the shoe inserts, and a pair of socks. TIP: They have a frequent buyer/customer rewards program - for every $250 you spend, you get a $25 coupon. Just sign up with them with your basic information and they'll have all your purchase history and shoe fittings logged in their computer. My family and I have been going here for over 10 years now and they never seize to impress us. They have an extensive inventory and a very well trained staff to ensure you purchase the appropriate shoe. Once you walk in and start speaking with the staff you will be quick to discover they are not about making money and they would prefer you leaving with your best "foot" forward. Take this example to exemplify customer satisfaction. I have been training for the golden state series (3 half marathons in one year). I purchased a pair of New Balance 880s, then three months later while on my second half marathon, a mysterious bump started forming on the left side of the heel. After a gnarly blister had formed I took them back to fleet feet only expecting maybe a discount for a new pair of shoes. But with a smile, Lisa, a Fleet Feet employee, was very understanding that I had only owned them for 3 months and it clearly looked like a manufacturing defect, so she swapped them out for a new pair. Great selection of shoes and even greater variety of running "essentials." At least I'm assuming these items are essential; I'm not a runner! But many of my friends are, and they like this store a lot. We stopped by around lunch time on a weekday to find some compression socks. They carry the CPE brand, which are not cheap at $60/pair. But, Fleet Feet had a great selection in terms of both sizes and colors. Both men and women would not have problems finding items to suit their needs. First off this place is awesome and deserves at least 10 stars for their merchandise and for the superior level of service they provide. My fitness activity has increased within the last month. Chalk it up to New Year's Resolutions or the addition of yet another birthday, who knows? Anyway, I walk the dog about 1-1.5 miles every day, but just started kicking it up a notch and have been running about 2.5 miles 3 times a week. I knew that my Rykas were about ready to hang up and decided to pop into Fleet Feet after my sister's boyfriend recommended this place and after reading all of the 5-star Yelp reviews. I was greeted even before I stepped foot into this cozy store and about one minute later, I was already filling out my contact info for my salesperson, Joe who was very friendly and helpful. Joe took my level of activity and current and previous shoe brands into account when he created my profile. As others have stated, they measure your feet, watch you walk, (turns out I'm an overpronator), bring out several pairs of shoes for you to try on, and let you test run each pair for comparison. Joe brought out four pairs of shoes, and even though I just knew that the first pair I tried on were for me (women always know these things), he took the time to explain the features of each shoe and even let me take my top 2 choices for a second test-run. If you don't get anything else, you should at least thank them for the mini workout you get when you test run their shoes! I ended up with the Saucony Omni 8s and I am so in love with them! I've ran in them a couple of times now and it actually feels like I'm running on cushions. Seriously, I have been running just a little bit faster and more proud now that I have my comfy, sparkly, new running shoes! So thank you many times over to the staff at Fleet Feet. Their superb service wasn't limited to Joe, I could tell that the rest of the staff was working hard to accomdate everyone. The store was packed with kids getting shoes for the track season, but all of the employees were still thorough, friendly, and efficient with each of their customers. There aren't many retail stores that offer this level of service and great products, so if you're a runner or even a walker, you should visit Fleet Feet sports, your feet will definitely thank you! read more
