I walked into Shoe Palace looking for a specific pair of sneakers. A young lady working there checked their system, saw they didn't have my size in stock, and mentioned the Hayward location showed one pair available. When I asked if she could kindly call the Hayward store to verify and ask if they could hold it for me, she flat out said no. I was shocked--the store was practically empty, with about five employees working and only three or four customers total. There was zero reason not to take two minutes to make a quick phone call. I walked out and called the Hayward store myself. Not only did they not have the shoe in stock, but when I asked the employee in Hayward if they normally call other stores to check stock for customers, she said yes, absolutely. I went back inside to speak with the manager and asked why his team refused to make a basic phone call for a customer. His facial expression showed complete indifference. It wasn't until after I brought the issue to his attention and complained that he finally picked up the landline to call around. Customer service here is extremely lacking. Employees seem unmotivated to do the bare minimum, and management only steps up after you call them out. I expect much better effort from a retail team. read more

I came here one night with my family one night and it was pretty slow. Nobody greeted us and if they did I couldn't hear them. The music was SO LOUD that I literally couldn't hear anyone speak. Any time we had a question we literally had to scream to get their attention. After a while we asked could he turn it down, he said he "couldn't control it the other guy". My experience today was a few things; it was awkward, draining, and pleasant. Where should I start? My daughter and I were just trying to kill time while we waited for the Apple store to address our concerns there. I have been looking for some brown Vans for the longest, however, I did not want to pay full price, so I was looking for a bargain. Low and behold there they were, brown Vans for 20 bucks. I don't know the names, so I will have to address them by nationality as best as I can figure them out. The young Hispanic man who assisted me, it took him a minute to find the other shoe, but he did fine the other shoe. I then ask him to hold the shoes while I go and take care of our Apple concerns, he said sure no problem. So we left on the way to Apple after spending quiet a few minutes there, my daughter said you can leave me and go get your shoes. So I went back there and I saw the shoes in the back of the cash register, and so I asked the other young man who appeared to be Asians, if he could pass me those shoes so I could try them on. So he hands me one shoe. I didn't quite know how to take that, but I took the one shoe and tried it on. He was pleasant enough because he did asked me how did those fit and I told him the one shoe was fine, but I would like to try the other one on as well. He then said oh I didn't know you wanted to try them both on, which I reply, would you like to hold onto the other shoe?, because again I didn't quite know how to take it. My daughter then calls me and said that I need you to come down here to the Apple store, so I asked the Hispanic guy again to hold on to the shoes And my other items until I return. His reply was the same " No problem". And they were there when I return. So the young lady at the cash register who assisted me she went to ring my stuff up and then Asian young man came by the register and pushed some other customer's shoes onto the counter that was already crowded with my items while she's trying to ring up my items. She then informed him there is room on the other side, a free counter. He rudely said my customer is on this side; totally uncalled for. I could tell it frustrated the young lady and I told her just breathe count to 10. ( I counted too!!). And then I told her some people should not work with people or around people, and he clearly appears to be one of these who either needs to be retrained, or needs to seek some other type of employment, where he doesn't have to work with people as much. I when I met back up with my daughter, I asked my daughter about the situation and what she thought about it, but she had a different perspective on it she said I was in my feelings and because people steal so much, maybe he was afraid to give you both shoes. And I told her I could go for that, however, being that, I am considerably older than the majority of the people who came into the store, and when I see a box, come out, the people working there usually hand you the whole box; so that one did not fly very far with me. Like I said, I hope somebody reaches out to assist this young man in his ways of conducting business, because right now he is the reason for the lack of stars. this encounter took place on Sunday, August 20, 2023 just in case the manager or franchise owner reads this and recognize that they have a potential problem; I'm sure I'm not the first or the only one to gather this type of response or behavior from this young man read more

I drove from San Jose to Pleasanton within 30 minutes and when I arrived at the store the manager told me that he sold them just before I arrived. Horrible business and even worse employees. Worst customer services ever. Trying to return my shoes bought from the Hayward shoe palace two days ago and got denied. Told me that "You wore the shit out of both those shoes bruh" but clearly I only tried them on at the store. Went to the Pleasanton location in the Mall. My son was looking at a pair of Nike when we ask one of the sales associates to bring out a size 10 they brought out 1 shoe! When I questioned why only 1 shoe they told me that all the stores do this now I said no that is not true she then said it's there store policy since people were stealing the shoes. They have a wide variety of shoes so it works out great for my picky teenagers. The staff is super friendly, Andre always had a good attitude and is very attentive to customers, he has so much patience for my husband and knows what type of style he likes . Rolando is always willing to help us and makes our shopping experience a great one by making sure we find what we are looking for. Lastly the manager Michael does a great job by leading a friendly team and also getting to know his customers, since we go there so much he usually knows what we are getting that day. I started by looking for these shoes at the store, no luck. So I went to order them online and it was the worst customer service experience of my life. I ordered the shoes and the sent me an email that said I had to verify my order. So I did. And then they sent me a email telling me my order is now shipped. Shortly after that they refunded my money. I tried to get a hold of customer service and they hung up on me numerous times once I actually got past a few rings I got sent to voicemail a few times. I also sent a few emails and have still heard nothing back. It's been about a month. And all I wanted was the shoes I ordered. I recently visited the store and did like the selection of shoes, but the service was underwhelming. There was about six employees at the time I visited, and only three were really helping everyone out, even though it was pretty busy. I was looking for a pair towards the back of the store where it was the most crowded, and went to one employee towards the front of the store to ask if he could help me, to which he replied "I gotta stay up here," which simply means "no, go figure it out." I'm hoping maybe cause it was the holiday rush, and with everybody trying to buy shoes, it was tough for them to handle. But then again, why have multiple employees working with only a couple doing all the work? The whole process of buying a pair took about 30 min, which in my opinion, it way too long. read more

My experience at Shoe Palace was the most pleasant experience I ever had at any of the sneaker stores at Stoneridge Mall (Footlocker, Champs, and Finsihline (when it was still here) ) Kirby was the employee who helped me, he was very knowledgeable about the pair of shoes I was looking at. He was friendly and had great costumer service. I really like the layout of store compared to Footlocker and Champs, they have the shoes separated by brands (unlike the other stores, which I find very cluttered and hard to look at). Very bad service. Manager is rude and condescending. Store is not professionally ran. When you purchase shoes, they put them in the floor and you line up. When it's time to pay, they ask for the size you are paying then when the box is opened it may not be yours. That's exactly what happened, they start looking for it. In the mean time, he gets the next customer. I waited 45 minutes just to pay for 2 pairs of shoes. Then manager gets very rude. No compensation or apologies!
