A long time ago, when all the Merrell Shoes stores were still the Hush Puppies Shoes stores. I am already one of their biggest fans. I loved the Hush Puppies shores. But for some reason. It is all changed to the Merrell, and it seems they stopped carrying the Hush Puppies anymore. Wolverine owns both Merrell and Hush Puppies. The Merrell in San Francisco Premium Outlets is one of the smaller outlet stores compared to the other Merrell in Northern California. But it still carried many beautiful and comfortable shoes. The Merrell brand clothing is also available. They're good quality as their shoes. The salespersons are very friendly at the store. I received a pleasant greeting as soon as I walked into the store, even though they were swamped at the time. read more

On our last two visits to the Vacaville Merrell's outlet, Jowan, the manager, has assisted us. He is helpful, patient, understanding, knowledgeable, and a great listener. He took care of us with such courtesy. When the size was not available in one color, he suggested trying the other color on for size, and then he called other stores to check availability. Nobody comes to the factory outlet store expecting good customer service, at least not me. But this time when I was there, there was nobody in the store. I said "morning" to the person behind the cash register who completely ignored me. I then carried on and wandered around, found something I really liked, waited for a while, and this person behind the register obviously had no intention of stepping out of his throne. I asked simple questions, and I got simple answers. I ended up buying a pair of shoes I really liked, but he didn't seem to care much whether I bought them or not. He went so far as to Contact a store back east, North Carolina and found the jacket it. Hearranged to have it sent to my house. While preparing to climb the cables at Half Dome at Yosemite, I realized that I needed some better "grip" boots. The dome itself is granite -- so you have to have some amazing grip on your shoes or boots (especially since it can be slick). However, the Half Dome hike is also very long -- more than 12 hours of hiking (half of which is uphill and often on rock that is wet by the two major falls that you traverse alongside). After searching for the best boots, I noticed that many experienced hikers seem to go with Merrell. Thankfully, the San Francisco Bay Area has TWO Merrell outlets -- at the outlet malls in Vacaville and Livermore. The one in Livermore is closer. As soon as they opened (due to COVID-19 restrictions), I made sure to visit. The store is what you expect -- Merrell products with significant savings. There seems to be many sales (so check on them before you go). When I went (the first day opened after COVID restrictions lifted), they had a "Buy 1 Get Second for 1/2 Off" sale. While the store did quite a bit to insure safe patronage during a pandemic (they were clean, limited number of customers, wiped down surfaces, etc.), the employees were very helpful. They allowed me to try on different shoes. Not only that, but they made great recommendations based upon our unique upcoming adventures. I ended up with two fantastic options -- boots and shoes. I saved a lot of money too. I wore the boots atop Half Dome. They were extremely comfortable for a long hike over varying terrain and, of course, the climb up the cables to the top. If you're looking for some great hiking shoes or even everyday options for your feet, I strongly recommend this Merrell Shoes outlet! HINT: Call ahead to find out about their promotions. I intended to buy the MOAB boots; however, I found another pair that I liked just as much (after trying on both). I bought the Men's Phoenix 2 Mid Thermo for $79.98 -- plus half off my second pair. They were equally as comfortable as the MOABs. Also: The MOABs weren't on sale with the BOGOHalfOff promotion. In fact, I think that they were the only shoes not on sale. They were actually full retail price -- even higher than what you'd normally pay in most stores. Since the MOAB boots were the reason that I drove to the outlet, I might not have driven there if I knew this. However, I was happy to try them on and, ultimately, with my choices. read more

I have been to this shoe store several times and it seems like it is either a hit or miss in getting an employee to help me. I either get an employee who is helpful or the employees see me, but just stay behind the counter socializing instead of helping customers. In those cases where the employee is socializing, I have to help myself to find a pair of shoes in the right size. Maybe I should work there? This most recent time, an employee got on my nerves. They asked me a couple of times if they could pass by me. I was getting irritated because the store is small and, where I was standing, there was really no place for me to move. He could have easily gone around the other end of the aisle instead of asking to pass me. It is too bad because they really have a good selection of shoes and I like the brand. They just need to be more consistent, aware, and proactive in helping customers. read more

I had ordered online and the shoes I got just didn't fit right. Since this store isn't far, I returned it to the store rather than thru the mail. Big mistake! They said they couldn't return the tax, which amounted to about 13 bucks. The sales clerk said it was a convenience fee. Convenient for who? If I have to leave the house, I might as well just go to USPS and forfeit the 5 bucks they want for returns. If they came to my house, that would be convenient. I'm done with this brand. read more

I went to the Merrill Shoe store last week to purchase some hiking boots. The store was clean and all the employees were wearing masks and followed the proper safety guidelines. My girl came home with such a beautiful story of human kindness. She explained to me how this employee went over and beyond the normal expected customer service we expect from great stores like this. This young man showed her 3 pairs of shoes and when those were not what she needed he pulled out the ladder and went up 5 times looking for the right shoes, eventually she did buy the 8th pair of shoes she was shown. And before you judge her please understand that my girl has a condition with her feet where if the shoes aren't the right form she is in extreme pain. This young man was patient and understanding.
