I don't have much to add to what's already been said. Reasonable prices, good food, great chips, some popcorn while you wait and the potential for long waits for a table. My wife and I showed up for dinner at 6pm on a Tuesday night and had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Not bad. once we got our table it took us all of three seconds to decide what to order- steak and chips and a few sauces (bernaise and peppercorn). The food came out super fast. The presentation was beautiful. The chips are delicious, seriously some of the best I've ever had. The sauces were alright. I thought the steak was better off without them. The steak was good. Not huge. It was cooked medium rare like I requested, but I wish it had a bit more char or sear on it. But for the price, good. The restaurant was packed and there's not much space around you. Bigger than their Beak Street location and a little less busy, this is my place for steak in London. However, unlike their other location, this one doesn't seem to have a bar that you can wait in. No matter, they have a really good system that texts you to let you know when your table is available so we headed to Foyles for a drink in their cafe. A short while later, the text came through, well before their 45 minute estimate. Heading back there, we were greeted at the door and shown to our table. We ordered medium rare steaks, a portion of chips, an order of aubergine parmesan, and a side of Bearnaise sauce. All were served quickly and to be honest, tasted absolutely divine. They only serve one cut of meat on a regular basis and it shows how much practice they have had doing it. The £10 cut of meat was tender, well seasoned and did not need the béarnaise (although I still used it, I love it!). Who doesn't love chips cooked in beef fat either (well, probably not the vegetarian/vegan section of the population...). Declining dessert we opted for the check, and left. I got to try a lot of cool spots when my parents came to visit for my little brother's holiday. My dad chose Flat Iron a day we were wandering about, trying to figure out how to fill our empty screaming stomachs and oh, what a good idea. I don't remember the time we walked in but we didn't wait at all and were seated on one of the little tables. I love the decoration arrangements because I'm a fan of that industrial wooden vide, but the seating was a problem in my opinion. The tables are very narrow and we're a family of tall people and large shoulders. I wasn't at ease while I kept bumping into my mother's elbows. Same applies to the seats. We were sat on stools and, to be honest, my first reaction was "seriously ?". It wasn't bad at all especially because I could lean on the wall, but stools aren't ideal when eating. There was also a little problem when we ordered cocktails to start with and they came after the food... We told them it was inconvenient and that we didn't want them anymore since we didn't get the chance to drink them. They apologized, to us to keep them and offered the cocktails. Much appreciated gesture, that was a beginner's mistake. I'm done with what I didn't like, now the food. The menu offers one choice : the steak, and a large choice of sides from healthy options to less healthy options (guess what I chose). They also have a menu of the day which included a burger that day. After the waitress highly recommended it, my brother and I got the (deliiiicious) burger and my parents got the steak. We were all very happy with our dishes and sides. We also had dessert, the one of the day and the sunday. It was nice and soothing and not as heavy as I was expected. I'm almost embarrassed it has taken me this long to get around to trying Flat Iron. It wasn't for lack of recommendation, because every steak-lover I know loves this place. Maybe it was my lack of enthusiasm for queuing... Dave A and I dropped into Flat Iron on a Friday night before we went to a show (it was Miss Saigon, separate review pending) and managed to time our arrival PERFECTLY. We went through the front doors bang on 6pm and were seated straight away. The service was excellent and our waitress was super-helpful and incredibly friendly. I was tempted by the idea of a deep fried burger, but couldn't be swayed from the Flat Iron steak - I mean really, that's what you're there for right! For sides we went with the roast aubergine and chips, as well as the peppercorn sauce. And before I even get to the steak, I NEED to talk about the aubergine. It was like a little baby lasagna and I could have eaten like ten more after the one that I (begrudgingly) shared. The steak was delicious. Tender and juicy and beautifully presented on a warm stone plate. It was kind of hard to leave the restaurant and go to the show, because after my meal all I really wanted was to sit in the warm restaurant, drink some more red wine and relax into a puddle of satisfaction. read more

This was by far the best meal I had in London. We ran over to Flat Iron during the interim of the Harry Potter play. Within only a 10 minute walk of the theatre it was easily accessible. We were seated immediately at a table upstairs. It's community-style, so we were sharing a table with another couple. This is not my favorite way to dine, but with such a small place it's really necessary to get the maximum number of seats possible. The drinks were delivered quickly and we were given a pitcher of infused water to accompany the meal. The steaks were perfect. Great place for steak but not for those who want a complete meat feast. The size is good for the price (it's only a tenner!) but I felt that it was a bit too salty for my liking. The sides were okay but the chips were disappointing and soggy. You also have to go there and put your name down first to wait in line. But going to the newer Denmark St Flat Iron I realised that not only is their sides (creamed spinach, aubergine) an exceptional accompaniment to this beauty of a steak but they have regular daily steak specials. Often because meat is fresh in and being butchered. So I long to see their specials board. This like Burger and Lobster is a simple menu with an uncomplicated idea that has a delicious meal to match. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Service was great and friendly, everyone who I spoke to was interested in what I thought about my food and what they were doing. But the star here is the food. Namely the steak. I had the special of the night, which was Wagyu inside skirt steak. It came out cooked perfectly medium rare and seasoned with a good amount of salt. We found this place online before our trip. It was rated one of the best places to eat in London for the price point. It did not disappoint. My wife and I had dinner here after a long day of traveling from the US. The staff was amazing. We were welcomed by the staff immediately when we entered the establishment. David, our waiter, was amazing. Since it was our first time there he explained took the time to explain the menu to us and even provided some helpful hints for touring London. I'd been wanting to try Flat Iron for ages but always worried about the wait for a table. Thankfully, at this location at least, we only had to wait 10 mins on a weekday night. We had the steak, fries, bearnaise sauce, creamed spinach, and roast aubergine (not something I'd usually choose but so glad we did), all of which were to die for and perfect sized portions (we split the two sides among the 3 of us). Served by absolutely top notch waiters/waitresses. We were explained where the meat comes from, what's special about it and what she can recommend as a side. I mean, let's be honest, there's not much to choose from, oh an sorry veggie-friends, but this place has absolutely nothing to offer for you, except of salad, greens and chips. So I finally managed to get here after all the recommendations. I decided to come after the lunch rush as there always seems to be a queue. Arrived to be greeted and seated straight away. Really friendly and they explained the whole concept as it was my first time. Great meat, cooked simple with simple sides to accompany it. I decided to go for the special of the day, wagyu beef and side of fries. As part of the welcome they reiterate its good meat cooked just right and advise not to go over a medium rare. I happily obliged as that is also my preference. Food came out and look good, until I cut into it. The cut was completely over cooked and there was no one around for me to grab, point out and ask them to do another. If the whole concept is about simple cooking, how could they get it so wrong. What topped it off was the fries. The top half was fresh and crispy but the bottom half stone cold and soggy. It was like they had just topped up an old batch of fries that had been sitting there.
