We arrived at the Flat Iron a few hours before our reservation, our stomachs rumbling with hunger. We approached the hostess and were informed that we could be placed on a waitlist that could take up to 25 minutes. Within 10-15 minutes, we received a text message inviting us to join the downstairs seating area. Unlike some other restaurants in London, the service at the Flat Iron was impeccable. Our meal consisted of the mac and cheese, steak, and fries. The mac and cheese was a creamy delight, infused with a rich, cheesy flavor that perfectly complemented the tender and juicy steak. The fries were crispy and golden, making them an ideal side dish. The house-made ketchup added a tangy touch, enhancing the overall dining experience. Each bite was a simple yet indulgent treat, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and flavor. We appreciated that our server checked in on us to ensure we were enjoying our meals. Although we were so full that we didn't even bother using the complimentary ice cream, I couldn't help but admire the enticing photos that accompanied it on Yelp. This was one of my top favorite meals in London. £13 (less than $17) for some of the juiciest tender steak SIGN ME UP. Our entire group ordered a steak each with different sauces. The steak was medium rare which was perfect, each piece was tender and juicy. I got the chili pepper mayo sauce was like smoked mayo, a little heavy. I got to try a bit of peppercorn and that was delicious, I'll probably get this next time. And let me tell you about the sides, my goodness were they good, I loved them all, each was so flavorful. The crispy bone marrow literally tasted like bacon, I LOVED it. Pair it with the steak and it's an amazing combo. The Mac and cheese was also loaded, definitely getting these two again next time. And the price for the steak was a steal! I've paid more for steak that didn't taste as good as this. This is a must try restaurant and if there is an opportunity I will most definitely come back. I absolutely LOVE Flat Iron and am sad that I didn't discover it earlier! The place itself is a bit small and I have waited for over 2 hours for a table-on a Tuesday night!But since we did wait that long, that should say enough about how good this place is and how worth the wait is. However, the wait isn't always that long so don't let that detour you. The actual steak itself is brilliant at it's standard of medium rare. Plus, it's relatively cheap at 10 pounds a steak! And although the steaks aren't the biggest in portion sizes, one steak is able to fill me up. The chips are so bloody good as well. I think it's because of the salt that they have. Definitely put salt on the chips as it just adds to the goodness of them! Overall I can't say enough good things about this place. I think I just might go ahead and say that this place quite possibly is my favorite restaurant of all time! read more

Incredible steak. Went during the week at lunch time and no queue (I've heard it can be pretty long at times). I'm a steak snob and this ranked top 10 ever the texture was superb but the best part was the flavour really, really tasty. The chips were to die for. Only gripe I like my steak blue, or at the most, rare. They were unable to cook it blue 'due to Westminster Council regulations'. So I asked for it as rare as possible but was served a medium steak (pink in colour in the middle but fully cooked throughout, no blood). This was disappointing considering the only item on the menu is this single steak. If you only serve steak you need to be able to cook it. Despite this however, it was incredible and was not at all impaired by being overcooked (for me). The service was very good the waiter knew a lot about meat, the brand, and the local area. Flat Iron is a quality restaurant! The vibe is quite chill, almost Lounge like. The menu is small, but the options are perfected. I had the classic Flat Iron Steak with a side of chips (French fries), Classic Peppercorn dipping sauce and a Rose Lemonade. All were delicious, The steak comes with a small (delicious) salad served in a cup. The total meal price was about £18 after tax and gratuity. The reason this isn't quite a 5 star experience is simply because within the vicinity of Flat Iron, there are a handful of equally tasty and exceptional restaurants at a cheap price. However that being said, if you are craving a delicious steak with a delicious dipping sauce and the oh so tasty Rose Lemonade, this is your spot! read more

Flat Iron is a great restaurant in London if you're craving steak without spending a fortune. For £14 you get a nicely cooked flat iron steak, some popcorn to start, and even a free ice cream cone at the end. I had mine medium rare and it was tender, juicy and already sliced. Tried the béarnaise (too heavy) and the peppercorn (pretty good), but honestly the steak is best on its own. The creamed spinach side was lighter than I expected, which was a nice change. It does get busy, so go early. If you are on your own, you can usually slip into a bar seat. read more

We turned up and they were really busy about 6pm but managed to seat us, the seating is like sitting in a canteen like you would in school on those foldable tables, but these are wooden, OK! I'm not selling this very well. Basically be prepared to sit close to people you don't know and on stool like seating fixed to the floor. This doesn't match Hawksmoor but at the end of the day it is half the price, so I would 100% recommend it if you are looking for a great steak and are looking to save the pennies! The door was unlocked so we walked in and was told they sent there cooks home due to weather, which was cold but no snow or ice, so they were closed. No sign on the door.
