Came here for dinner with friends after work and had a pleasant time. There was five us at a table which I appreciate them not filling up the table completely with randoms. I had ordered the golden tofu as an app which was yummy and got the steak and chicken for my entree. The food was yummy and our chef was funny but the show they do is very similar with most hibachi places. We visited Flame Hibachi with our family of 6, looking forward to a great dinner and the signature hibachi show. Unfortunately, the experience fell short. We were explicitly told that our family would be the only ones at our table. However, after making us wait at the table for 15-20 minutes for the chef to arrive, he finally showed up and started cooking while we were still getting settled into our seats. The entire dinner was rushed through in just 20 minutes, and the chef didn't perform any tricks or interaction at all. What made it worse was looking at the neighboring table. Their show started before we even got our chef, and it was still going on long after ours abruptly ended. The food was okay, but we paid for the experience and the entertainment, which we completely missed out on. Very disappointing for a family night out. read more

Second time here, 2 bdays in a row! Came back this year because I liked the sleek urban ambiance of this relatively small hibachi place. It's simple, and not gaudy or overly smoky like a lot of hibachi places. Food is good here, but our guy was kinda lame this time. Really seemed like he wanted to be anywhere else but there. It was also a little too rushed! We were in and out within an hour! They immediately start taking your order when you sit down, and from there just crank everything out with speed and precision. This place checked all the boxes and then some! The cocktails were strong and everything was well seasoned. From the sweet chili wings which were still crispy and packed the right amount of sweet heat to the shrimp pad Thai that wasn't overly sweet like some can be it was a hit. I loved the sauce that accompanied the roti and almost wish there was more but overall I had a great experience at Flame. Definitely kid friendly and the service was very responsive. We didn't have a reservation and they do seem a bit more strict on the hibachi side with that for obvious reasons but regular dine in was amazing. read more

Food was fresh and hibachi show was entertaining, but very rehearsed. The food was properly cooked but lacking in robust flavors and authenticity. The prices were average for Manhattan but beware, they automatically add a 20% "service charge" to your bill and do not tell you in advance. It's sneaky and a shame. We were a party of 2 on a random Thursday night. I would typically charge the bill but tip in cash and round up from 20-30%, but this charge was quietly added to my bill without my knowledge or consent. I happened to see it and asked the server what it was for. She informed me it was the tip. Call me old fashioned, but when I worked in a restaurant, tips were earned, not assumed. I paid the charge as it was applied to my bill on my credit card and that was it. It's a shame because I definitely would have given more in cash, but I wasn't interested in trying to do the math to work out the difference and if tips are now assumed, I'm really not interested in complicating the bill. I will simply go elsewhere next time. Aside from the underhanded billing, there was nothing "wrong" with this place, but it wasn't outstanding either. There are more authentic restaurants that don't try to sneak in a service charge and who are more competitively priced in the area. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant while trying to find somewhere to eat that had noodles. I read the food menu that was plastered outside. Went inside and was seated immediately. They had hibachi upstairs and the cooks were singing their hearts out (I must say they sounded really good). It was Sunday afternoon and they had a happy hour menu so I ordered a Corona for $6. For my entree I ordered the Classic Noodle with Beef. The food came out smoking hot, and the aroma was amazing. It taste even better. Visited this place with a promotion through Pulsd. The offer is pretty much a two for one promotion. I came here with Gia on an off night (sunday) and it was slow to say the least so we can't comment on the vibe too much. Service was on par with nothing that bothered either of us enough to make note of. If I had to nitpick its probably a little slow for the amount of people in the premise at that time. To the food: We both did Hibachi with a combination of chicken steak and shrimps, while overall the flavors of the protein were pretty good, I found the overall quality of the meat just average. The Jasmine Fried Rice that came with the meal was very good though. While I know Hibachi places tend to be more about the entertainment than the food, I have to warn everyone that the Pulsd voucher DOES NOT include the hibachi show. Worst restaurant experience we ever had. Kids wanted to eat here after seeing reviews online and I made reservation via Yelp. We arrived a bit early and they accommodated us. We were the only ones in hibachi area. We were excited and all was fine until our server brought out our beverages. He didn't set one of the drinks down on the table properly and it spilled. That was a total accident and would have been okay and understandable but because of how the mason jar cup fell, it broke into many pieces of glass that also landed on my kids. We were given napkins to try and clean up the tiny glass pieces but they became embedded in their tops and jeans. Because they were wearing jeans with rips as they tried to wipe away the tiny shards, glass continued to cut their legs. We went to restroom to try and clean it and bc the full drink spilled, the wetness allowed the shards to become embedded into their clothes. We immediately left and ordered an Uber so they could check for cuts, shower, and change at the hotel. Our server was apologetic but no one but him offered any help in the restaurant. They ended up having superficial skin cuts and we threw away their clothes bc we were traveling and didn't have a way to ensure all the glass was removed. We were able to replace their clothing - YAY for AE and Old Navy in Times Square with same day order pickup! Flame Hibachi has my info bc I booked on Yelp yet no one has reached out to check and make sure my kids were okay or even see if we'd like to make another reservation so we could actually eat there. My first Hibachi experience took place at Flame on Friday. We checked in for our reservation at the hostess stand on the first floor, then were escorted up to the second floor and seated at a table surrounding a grill. We shared the table with another party of 3. We noticed that there was a 3rd floor (possibly private room) by the singing and cheering radiating from above us. It seemed like they were having a great time, which was quite the contrast to the floor that we were sitting on. We got to order our drinks first, as well as our appetizer and choice of meat. For anyone with food allergies/restrictions, their dish can be made separately in the kitchen. I went with the sirloin steak and chicken combo. Our chef took his position and started off by making some fried rice. He put on a nice little show by spinning an egg on his spatula, lighting his hand on fire (coated with oil of course) and squirting sake into our mouths at a distance. Our food was grilled right in front of us and served to us piping hot. It definitely tasted like your standard steak and chicken, but I see that the appeal of Hibachi is more of the theatrics that they put on while cooking. Our waiters stayed close by in case we wanted to order more drinks. They seemed to have a strict limit of 90 minutes as the check was dropped right around then, and they notified us that the next party was here. 3.5 rounded to a 4. I came here to try the hello kitty buns and they were so aesthetically pleasing and adorable. They were pretty good tasting wise. They are filled with an egg custard in the middle but it's not too sweet and not too bitter/plain, it's right in the middle. The host was super chill and actually switched tables for us because I had made reservations for a Hibachi table and not just a regular table. But he was super chill and moved us to a different table and only took about 10-15 minutes for the Hello Kitty Buns to be brought to us. read more
