We ate in the new sushi section and were very happy that we did! Our server was very friendly and attentive, the sushi was fresh, delicious, and looked lovely. Plenty of parking or easy to get to from the 1 train - between 231 and 238 stops. We will definitely be returning. read more

Beautiful Restaurant, Great Parking in front, the waiter and the hibachi cook were awesome GREAT SERVICE !!! I checked in on yelp while I was there and yelp offered me a free $9 appetizer so I asked for shrimp dumplings. The hibachi cook was HILARIOUS only problem was the food was very salty too much soy sauce but besides that everything was GREAT ! read more

This was my first time visiting a hibachi restaurant and I had very high expectations to visit this particular one. I will start by saying that the place is beautifully decorated and the ambiance is very inviting as soon as you walk in. They have a very strict reservation only and on time policy which added a layer of anxiety before my visit after receiving a reminder text. We arrived early and were greeted at the door by a very friendly host only to be interrupted by who I believe was a manager or owner who was the complete opposite! Rude, unfriendly and short! His vibe was negative and offputting from the start. He greeted us by sternly warning us that if my party was not complete we would not be seated. I proceeded to assure him we were all present and he followed it up by telling me he didn't know so was obligated to inform me. He immediately turned on his heels and walked us to our seats, pointed to the chairs that belonged to us and walked away before my sister could ask for the restroom! She must have said excuse me three times before he turned around and pointed down the hall! He honestly ruined half the evening already! Poor customer service for any establishment let alone a new one is completely unacceptable in my book. Thankfully Luis our server and our cook saved the night! They were both very personable, friendly and attentive. The drinks were great and the food preparation was so entertaining! Our cook was engaging, jovial and very pleasant! The portions were big enough to take home and everything was rich in flavors! Unfortunately for me the human exchange is half the experience. I like to feel welcomed and that my hard earned money is appreciated. After paying the bill and leaving the table not one persom thanked us or wished us a good night! I personally will NOT be returning but if these small things do not offend you then the food and experience is worth the visit! read more

Hands down the best spot for date night and family dinner. The food and drinks was hitting. Definitely worth a pace to visit

I used to come here all the time for both dining in and takeout because I loved their hibachi fried rice with shrimp. After my encounter with them yesterday i am telling everyone i know not to bother supporting this business, I dont recommend anyone to come here, I went to pick up food for my friend and I and i was chased out after saying I wanted to change my order, so if you do decide to, God forbid you make any mistake or try to change your order unless you want the manager david c to scream at you in front of all his staff to get out and tell you he doesnt need your service. Im so sorry to all the rest of the hard working employees who work at that restaurant but i will be telling everyone i know to not come somewhere with a manager that has such an nasty disgusting attitude!! read more

1/2 star. This review is solely for takeout experience. My coworker has been talking about craving the food here for weeks now, so I decided I would try it with her for lunch today. We serve customers at our job, and were completely appalled at the complete absence of customer service here. I called and ordered two different fried rice dishes for both of us, and they said 15 minutes. Cool. My coworker goes to pick them up and unfortunately the one I ordered was not the fried rice she wanted. She told the worker that she was expecting the hibachi fried rice because she wanted the sides it comes with. I guess the manager or whoever jumped in and said they already prepared this other dish and that she should take it, but she states she does not want to leave with something she will not eat. At this point, the manager starts screaming and tells her to get out because he doesn't want her business? I mean she already gave up on her dish at this point but calls me to see if I still want mine. I literally hear the manager yelling in the background that we made the mistake. He snatches the food anyway and brings it to the back. Um, ok, I don't want it anyway. Why would I want to eat food from somewhere who clearly doesn't know how to treat people? Did she do something to harm/offend anyone there that she deserves to be screamed at to leave and not get any food? Yes, she was asking for extra, but that did not warrant such an intense reaction. No offer was made to appease the situation. Just hostility. They could've been way more understanding about the takeout menu being so confusing with all those different listed fried rices, but instead it jumped straight to blaming the customer. The manager needs to reconsider his customer service tactics, because it was just disgusting. Wish I could comment on the food, but will never be having it! 1/2 star for the first guy who was trying to help out and had to awkwardly stand in front of his screaming manager. Yikes! Edit: Funny for the manager to respond and switch me and my friend up so he can try directly attacking at me instead. Even if that were the case, doesn't justify your attitude problems, and your lack of even addressing my earlier comments about it. Guess that's the Flame business owner. Ciao! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, as I live in the neighborhood and usually take the trip to Pelham or Port Chester to Edo's. I will continue to take that trip. We ordered the vegetable spring roll for our appetizer that was fine. When the salad came out, half of mine was frozen so the lettuce was soggy and cold which was weird but also not the biggest deal. My date ordered filet mignon and salmon and I ordered chicken. The noodles that came with the meal were extremely salty and I watched as the cook dumped an entire spoon of garlic on it so it tasted like salty, garlic noodles. Also, I didn't care too much about that. However, my date ordered his steak medium the chef overcooked the filet to the point where we had to tell him take it off of the grill because it was clearly well well done. The salmon was also dry, overcooked and inedible. My date took two bites of his food and refused to eat the rest. I asked our waitress whether or not the cook was new because I could not fathom that someone would not know how to properly cook a steak or know that salmon does not take that long to cook. My chicken came off of the grill before the salmon did for reference. My chicken had no flavor and he should have taken all of the garlic that he dumped on those noodles and put it on the chicken. The chicken was tough, dry and flavorless. I ate the rice and the vegetables. They offered us 20% off of the meal and another 20% off if we returned. I left the coupon there I will not return. read more

Ok so, let me start by saying that my husband and I travel to Japan whenever possible. Having said that, we don't expect a great deal from places in the US. We try new Asian fusion/ Japanese places whenever we can. So when Flame popped up we were thrilled. My husband, sister, and I went for dinner. The show was not really that amusing. A lot of noise making with banging on pots and singing in a loud drawn out fashion "riiiiiiicollllaaaa" (yes, we got the reference) but all the singing didn't get a laugh from our table it was just really weird... The food was just ok. As others have said, the soup you usually get at hibachi is some form of miso soup/clear soup. This one was beef broth with very odd tasting meatballs swimming in the broth. Not very appetizing. The food was a bit bland, the dipping sauces they provide help though. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. We asked for no shrimp appetizer with our meal, but it was placed on our plates anyway. They don't offer any rolls of any kind in the appetizer menu which seemed odd in a hibachi restaurant. Though they do have dumplings, which were tasty. The one thing that threw us off completely is that there was NO WASABI at this restaurant. It's a HIBACHI restaurant...there is grilled meat there...but no wasabi? One of the staples of Japanese cuisine is raw dab of wasabi on a good cut of meat. Overall, it wasn't horrible.. And they did just open, so maybe they'll adjust over time. The pricing is fair and the portions are decent. read more

Was looking for somewhere nice to go somewhere for my 40th birthday dinner. So I didn't really feel like going into the city, traveling downtown etc., and finally decided to book a reservation as I heard about them opening a few weeks ago. It was amazing! My boyfriend and I truly enjoyed it. The staff showed us excellent customer service and the chef had a great demonstration. I had the White Snow Leechee martini and it was so yummy. On our way out the manager David offered us a free shot of tequila :-) I would highly recommend checking it out this summer. This spot is such a cool addition to the neighborhood. We will be back! read more

Finally decided to check this spot out since it's in my area and I was pleasantly surprised...my 2 girlfriends and I sat only at the bar and we were served by Darius and CJ who were not only men bartenders (which is such a rarity to find and I personally love) but actually knew what they were doing. We ordered the lingerie, the flame colada, and an amaretto neat and all 3 drinks were AMAZING!!!! Then we ordered spicy edamames, sesame chicken wings and the dim sum(a collection of dumplings) and everything was so delicious and it came out quickly which I appreciated. Then we met the owner David who is not only hilarious but very much about making sure his customers are happy. All in all I was very pleasantly surprised by this new hibachi spot in Riverdale and I highly recommend this spot for families, couples and even groups of ladies like us!!! read more

I received really bad service on sept 28th, at the Bronx location. firstly the host in the front are terrible I came in with my family and did not know you guys close so early on a Saturday at 9:30 I made it there at 9:35 and because I was 5 mins after the host gave me an attitude and stated we can't seat you we only have take out. I asked to speak to a manager and another girl was standing in the front claiming she was the manager in which she was rude as well. I traveled and paid a cab just to support your restaurant for my moms birthday with my mom and daughter only to be told I can't sit you down and there's nothing I can do about it. I will never come back here again after this terrible experience. We went else where and had a great time with great service at another restaurant. Honestly your front staffing is extremely rude and has poor customer service skills.... If you want people to come to your restaurant you need people who actually want to work and provide great customer service to customers. Now I understand you were closed but it was the attitude for me that made me not want to come back. read more

The chefs were great. They did a lot of singing and the entertainment was great for the family. The food was ok.... the rice was very plain, just egg. The beef soup was not expected and every thing was basically grilled, little flavor. What was a huge downside to the experience was that we were a group of 15... 3 families of five... and they refused to let us have family checks. The hostess were less than friendly and seemed annoyed we would be taking a whole table which we didn't understand. Don't habachi tables sit multiple groups at one table? We live in the neighborhood and go out to eat in a big group all the time. This was just annoying and the attitudes of the front staff will make me think twice about returning read more

Outstanding. Everything we have ordered has been delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

My experience was great! The customer service was amazing. I loved how they asked if we had any allergies to any food beforehand. The place was absolutely stunning. The food was incredible (I loved the fried rice). I highly recommend people to come here. Note that the food is more on the pricer side but I believe that you can't be too cheap if you want a good experience. The reviews on here was a bit concerning but I decided to go anyways because you can't rely too much on other peoples experience. Glad I came because it was not like anything the 1 star reviews said. I hope this review helps! read more

Went with a larger party on Sunday night, the staff was friendly. The food and drinks were wonderful. Ambiance is modern and nice. Would definitely return read more

Flame was really pretty good -- Everything you'd expect from a Hibachi place. I haven't been to hibachi since I was in like middle school, at someone's birthday party, but now that I have a little one my husband and I thought she'd get a kick out of the show of it all. They did all the hibachi greatest hits -- cracking the egg on the edge of a spatula, tossing veggies at the guests to try to get it in their mouths, stack of onion volcano -- one thing we didn't predict was that my daughter would freak out at the big flame at the beginning of the cooking process. Every time it happened at every table...oh well. She enjoyed the food at least! Again, decent meal and definitely worth while if you have younger kiddos. Make sure you get there on time for your reservation though 'cause they'll only hold your spot for 10min since you're sharing a table with another family usually. read more

This will please anyone who: 1. Doesn't mind over cooked seafood, 2. Likes very loud off-key singing accompanied by jarring clanging noises, 3. Sees nothing wrong with images of Buddha watching you get a stream of sake aimed at your face, 4. Notices that 18% is added to the bill for parties of two or more, 5. Does not want to talk to the people they came with. 6. Likes hearing the stylings of your own hibachi chef and those of all the other chefs, at full volume, at the same time! Listen.... I get it. But every person at our table was flinching at a nearby chef's unbelievably loud and horridly off-key rendition of "Fools Rush In" (the whole song, by the way, time kept with a clanging spatula). Owner patronizingly explained that, "This is not fine dining." No, sir, it is not, but we could not hear our own chef for the racket of the others. And the little boy pissing squeegee bottle is just straight tacky. This place will do fine, because the food is decent and there is no hibachi place. Hopefully we will get a better one soon. read more

For a last minute reservation on Father's Day Flame came through. The waiter was very helpful and accommodating especially with choosing an appropriate meal for my son who is allergic to almost everything. Five star experience. I passed by the other morning and the manager gave me his card/info and that very same day we made a reservation. We arrived at 5:30pm on a Friday (memorial day weekend). This place is a GEM. We live close by and saw it opened recently; we called and got a dinner reservation right away. My dad, my fiancé, and I were seated promptly, and orders taken by a very nice waiter. Shortly after, our *incredible* hibachi chef came and oh boy he was great. He threw sake drinks in our mouths, sang with us, had each of us cook with him a little bit too. He was really funny and sweet. But the BEST part of the entire night was the food. My fiancé and I have been to a number of hibachi places including downtown and in westchester but this is hands down the best food, no debate. The fried rice - heaveny!! The salmon and shrimp - amazing! The noodles - delicious. Seriously, I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Oh and the host was also super friendly and welcoming.
