My husband and I had a couple drinks at the bar at fl.2 prior to a group reservation on 7.7.23. I signed the receipt for the drinks prior to being seated. $29.96 for drinks; $6.00 for tip = $35.96. When my credit card bill arrived a couple weeks later, the charge was $41.73. An additional $5.77 was added to my credit card. I checked my receipt once again, thought I was mistaken, no. I called the restaurant to notify them of the mistake, a hostess called me back later that day stating a manager would call me back. No call back. I called again a week later to follow-up, left a message. No call back. I don't know what happened here but I do not owe a $11.77 tip on a $29.96 bill and being blown off is even worse. This place is very cute it's on the second floor of the hotel, hence floor 2. It looks very grand and up scale. We ordered drinks and split the charcuterie board. The drinks were very good, but pricy. I got an espresso martini and it was $13 for this tiny cup. The charcuterie board was okay my favorite part was the bread and I feel like the meats and cheeses were very basic nothing crazy for $24. For my entree I got the beef short rib it was first served cold. I asked it to be heated up but it was till just room temp not really hot. Not sure if that's how it was supposed to be?? The flavor was also bland nothing really there tasted like a pot roast that didn't have enough seasoning. It was also served with a few little raviolis. Again they were very bland... and cost $35. I was in Pittsburgh earlier this month on a visit. Before coming, I did some research regarding the best places to eat and Floor 2 kept coming up. Given my limited time, I initially thought I wouldn't get a chance to try it; however, when I realized it opens at 6:30am, I knew I had to come in for breakfast before heading to the airport. I'm glad I did because it was one of the best breakfast I've had. To start Floor 2 is located inside the Fairmont hotel. The place is large, elegant, and modern. Beautiful place. Since I got there around 6:45am, the breakfast menu was available. I started with some coffee, as well as some scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon, which felt high quality and delicious. Then, I ordered the French toast, which was the star of the show. The slices were huge, the cream and fruit were fresh, and the syrup delicious. Incan honestly say that it's the best I've had. It is worth mentioning that this place is not cheap. I spent way over my usual budget for breakfast. However, having this type of quality food, service, and ambiance available at 6am rather than airport food was amazing. A group of 10 of us decided to have a girls brunch here a few weekends ago because of all the amazing choices on their menu. I ordered a spin on a blackberry mimosa which was the drink of the day. It was very good. Crisp and refreshing! For my meal I ordered the French toast and chicken sausage. I also split the potatoes with a friend. My French toast was AMAZING. Two extremely thick slices of toast topped with juicy strawberries and a perfect syrup. The French toast was cinnamon but not over powering. Amazing! I didn't care for the sausage. It was too thick for my liking and a strange texture. The potatoes were very average and could have used some seasoning. I sampled some of the other ladies foods and I was not impressed with any. One had the huevos rancheros which just tasted like soggy nachos. Very bland. Another ordered the avocado toast which had asked for just the avocado and toast. So they served her a plate of avocado and a plate of toast. She asked our server if they could put the avocado on the toast for her and the server brings it back still unmashed, just sitting on the toast. She stated something about the chef being difficult. To me, I have a hard time understanding why she would even serve that knowing it was not what my friend wanted. For $17 this is unacceptable. Overall it was an OK experience. Wow -- they do some seriously cool things with their food and the flavors! The staff is awesome and super accommodating. This is a great brunch spot! The decor is also very modern and clean. Have you seen their French toast?! Each slice is an inch thick, or even more! It's huge but not too heavy and topped generously with powdered sugar and almonds. They also have a lobster Benedict that is huge and very savory. I'm also a fan of their Thai duck wings -- you get a large amount of wings for the price, so the value is great. Any dessert you get here is delicious and they can make tweaks here and there if you ask. The bar area is really cool and has a great view. My first couple of visits to Floor 2 were only for drinks and appetizers at the bar. My friends and I were pleasantly surprised by the inventive flavor combinations of their vegetarian appetizers and cocktails. Which enticed us to come here for brunch. Brunch was so enjoyable from the atmosphere and service to the food, we ended up coming back for brunch again the following month! I recommend the French Toast. I only made reservations on a Saturday at noon because we are a 6-person group and wanted to make sure the restaurant was ready for us. But there were plenty of open seats at the bar and smaller tables for walk-ins when we were there. There are options at various price points and in my opinion it is worth the price paid. Street parking is free near the hotel on Sundays and there's always valet if you can't find nearby metered street parking. read more

I stopped by here this past Wednesday with my wife for dinner. Ever since I had been to a Yelp party here, I had wanted to bring my wife and Pittsburgh Restaurant week gave me the perfect chance. The inside of Floor 2 is what I would consider classy. It is L shaped with the front part being a giant square shaped bar and then the back part is the dining area. Whenever I first walked in on this evening I thought that it was pretty empty only to turn the corner and find it reasonably full. In any case, they have an array of interesting lighting here and then a bunch of tables and a central area which has half chair/half booth seating. Last but certainly not least, Floor 2 has an open kitchen along with a chef's bar looking into it where you can also sit. Since it was Pittsburgh restaurant week, both my wife and I opted to go off of their 3 course pre-fixe menu. I ended up going with the poblano soup for my starter, lamb neck bolognese for my entree and then the only dessert option was the Japanese Cheesecake. The menu didn't say too much about each but that the poblano soup came with guajillo oil, the lamb neck bolognese was with pappardelle, mushrooms and Parmesan while the Japanese cheesecake came with matcha and preserved cherries. Our soups came out first and looked Christmasy with the green base and red colored oil. The base was blended nicely and really tasted of poblanos while the oil added some much appreciated heat to the dish. While I enjoyed the dish, I don't know that it is something I would have ordered from the menu. Next up was the lamb neck bolognese. With the way the pasta was twirled on the plate, it didn't look like much. Thankfully that was deceiving and there was a lot more there than I expected. The noodles were a bit more al dente than I liked but the sauce and other ingredients were great. My lamb was tender and the sauce had a surprising heat to it which crept up on me. For dessert the Japanese cheesecake was plated beautifully with the green matcha sifted onto a black plate with the cheesecake in the middle and the front covered with cherries. The cheesecake here was surprisingly light and also tasty. I enjoyed it with both the preserved cherries and the matcha powder. However, I wasn't a big fan of all three together and so I took care to eat pieces with only one of the toppings and thoroughly enjoyed it. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I definitely ordered some things from the restaurant week menu that I otherwise wouldn't have and would be interested to try more. read more

I went to Floor 2 with a friend for a fun night out, and was unfortunately pretty disappointed with the experience. We ordered the charcuterie board (which was 25$) and when it came to our table, we were shocked to see how small it was. There were three small pieces of cheese, three small piles of sliced meat, two small slices of bread and two crackers. For 25$ I was expecting quite the spread with some veggies and fruits and just more in general. Also, our food took a LONG time to come to our table, we ended up spending an hour and a half there just to eat an appetizer and an entree. I ordered the Hallebut which was bland and mediocre at best. The waiters that we had weren't friendly and overall I was very unimpressed, especially considering the prices that this restaurant has. While the bar and restaurant were truly a beautiful space the service really turned me off to this place. Came for a private event which seemed unorganized and fl2 completely unprepared. The bartenders were totally unwelcoming to our group. The male bartender completely ignored us if we had a free drink ticket and even though it took 3 separate tries and a total of about 40 min I was able to finally get a drink from the female bartender- which if I'm being honest- was not worth the wait but it might've been the sour attitude that made it not so tasty. It's not like I wouldn't have tipped but it was a real struggle and it seemed like they were actively trying to be rude by avoiding us so I didn't tip but I would've! It was not a good look for them and made me not want to return. While I appreciate the opportunity to check out a new place with the private event (co-hosted by floor 2) I really felt unwelcomed and more like we were a bother - I really don't know why they hosted if they didn't want us there. Out of the 5 things we sampled I enjoyed the chick pea bite as well as the pork belly bite - although I don't think they're on the menu anyway but they should be because they were good. I came here for brunch with a party of 5. Three of us were a bit early and were subjected to poor service. We informed the host that we had one extra diner and he made it clear that he was annoyed and said it will take him a while to set the table and that it'll take 10-15 minutes. Visiting from NYC, 10-15 minutes is not a problem, and totally expected because we changed the plans but I don't think it was necessary to show us that he was annoyed and like it was a huge inconvenience. We could see the restaurant and 85% of tables were empty so it certainly did not cause a huge issue for them. While waiting for the table and the rest of our party, we sat at the bar and were completely ignored for 10 minutes by the bartender. We would have gladly ordered drinks while waiting. He eventually did bring menus over but our other guests arrived and we were seated. From that point on, I don't really have many complaints. The espresso martini was great. I really enjoyed the shakshouka but please note that it's more like a creamy tomato bisque than traditional shakshuka. The banh mi was a little on the dryer side. Came here for brunch on Saturday. When you walk in, the grand bar is the first thing you see. The dining room has an open kitchen and a wall with the Pittsburgh skyline. We both started off with the zero proof cocktails. I had the berry smash, which was raspberry, blueberry, mint, lemon, and soda. The drink was beautiful and delicious. It was sweet but refreshing as well. My friend had the clean and green, which was very light and cleansing. I came here for a brunch double date after having this place on my list of brunch locations to try in Pittsburgh. Upon immediately entering the restaurant, you are hit with the bougie aesthetics--from the bar showcasing the bottles in a decorative fashion to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The booth tables give the restaurant a homey feel (like a diner) but the rest of the decor gave it an elevated look. Everything looked delicious on the menu so we all decided to choose something different and then split two of the sweet breakfast choices (the GIANT cinnamon roll and the THICK French toast). I'm not exaggerating when I say they were huge. I ended up getting the huevos rancheros which was pretty filling, while my boyfriend got the chicken chilaquiles (which was a little overloaded with avocado, but if you are obsessed with avocado, you'll love it). Our waiter was fun and joked with us quite a bit. My issue was that the food took forever to come, and when it did, it didn't come out super hot. The food was not bad, but nothing too amazing. Another issue I had was that we originally parked in the garage attached to the hotel of the building, since on Yelp here, it said the restaurant validated parking for $12. However, we later found out from the waiter that they only validate/give a discount on valet parking. It was fine though since parking in the garage ended up being $10 anyways. I am pleasantly surprised how great my lunch was here! Not because I was judging them based on the former restaurant here, Habitat (okay, maybe a little), but because I came for lunch. I am never very excited about lunch. I love breakfast and dinner. Lunch is usually boring! It was not boring here, I'm happy to report! I had a delicious rotisserie chicken salad. It was on a bed of bitter greens, but the honey dijon dressing really balanced everything out. It was also complemented by a generous sprinkling of pomegranate and apple slices. Service was friendly and the ambiance is modern, yet warm. I like the updates they made because it seems sleeker and fits in well with the hotel. I'm excited to try dinner there now! Celiac/Gluten Free review: They were super accommodating when I told them I had celiac disease. They don't have a GF menu, but they can accommodate dietary requests, which is nice (they said they don't even have peanuts in the kitchen because of allergies). Everyone you passed or encountered were friendly and helpful. They thought of everything. The brunch was delicious and the pancakes were the best ever. I can only speak about the brunch, because that's all I've had there so far. With that being said, this is one of my favorite spots in Pittsburgh for brunching because it's so upscale and it feels like you're in NYC and not the burgh. The food is really tasty and the portion sizes are perfect for someone like me who doesn't like to eat huge meals in the early day. I ordered the avocado toast both times I've gone and it's always perfect! The bacon and the potatoes are great to add on as well. My friends also enjoyed their dishes, which were the eggs Benedict and the French toast! We also split the pumpkin cookie dessert, but it was hard as a rock and I wasn't personally a fan. The only reason I am holding off on 5 stars is because I think they need to add a little more variety to the brunch menu. And they need to step up their Bloody Mary game. Each year I am tasked with finding a restaurant for a holiday luncheon for myself and coworkers. I have wanted to try this place for a while and they accepted our reservation request, so it seemed to be working out. Just as many have already stated, the inside of this place is gorgeous. Very clean, sleek and modern looking. We were seated promptly upon arrival and that is the only prompt thing about this experience. I didn't expect quick service, but when you wait 10-15 minutes to be greeted by a server and then another 10-15 minutes for your drinks and then another 10 minutes to order food, it is a little much. The food actually came out more expeditiously than expected, I think it took less time than the ordering process. I started with a french onion soup that was AMAZINGLY delicious and then followed it with a roast pork sandwich. The pork sandwich was pretty good, but the soup was definitely the star of the show in my opinion. It should also be noted that the sandwich came with the largest order of fries I have seen in a long time and they were delicious - crispy shoestring style. It wasn't a bad and it wasn't great. The waiter took our order, then 20 minutes later came back to ask what we had ordered because he never put our order in. This restaurant is so wonderfully decorated. It so clean and fresh looking, very inviting. The bar area is also beautiful with comfortable seating around the bar. I love all the windows and the ability to be able to look out over town while sitting at the tables. I shared only a few items off their menu. The simple green salad was very good, perfect amount of dressing. Their shoestring fries had a good taste to them. I actually put them in my salad and that was delicious, not really the restaurants ' style though haha. They are fancy in their presentation and price. We came here when visiting Pittsburgh because it came with a nice view. I'll be honest and say that the view is eh (just the streets of downtown Pittsburgh). But everything else was a treat. It had a classy, vibrant, yet modern feel with fantastic service and a lively ambiance. They say tapas style but I'd say the portions are pretty big compared to what I'm used to in DC. My favorite dish of the night was surprisingly the chickpeas! They were perfectly cooked in a impressive savory tomato-balsamic herby sauce. The sauce had depth and kept us coming back for more. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice and the place had socially distanced tables. The place was about half full. We were sat at a table directly next to a waiter station. We had to push the tables away approximately 2 feet so we were not touching the servers while they were placing orders. The chairs in this area were VERY uncomfortable for back support after sitting for approximately 30 minutes. We ordered the Burrata and Pork belly appies which were both pretty good. Our dirty martinis were okay but served in glasses that looked like something out of a garage sale. Our server was nice and made recommendations for our main course. She recommended the rotisserie chicken. Each couple ordered the same items, the smash burger and the rotisserie chicken. The smash burger ($16) was excellent. That is what I ate. My significant other ordered the chicken and spit out the first bite as the skin was rubbery. She said the chicken was okay and super moist (which is how I like my chicken), but she likes it a little dry. Tough crowd. The selection of dessert was a choice of two which we ordered one of each and both were underwhelming. Overall review. Overpriced for an underwhelming experience. Valet parking for each couple was $27 a piece. Highway robbery. Total bill was $250.00 plus tip and parking pushed the total night over $350. THE best brunch experience! I enjoyed this place so much. The lighting, the modern decor, the upbeat music, and the friendly staff all put me in a bright mood as soon as I stepped in. Started with the Lot 35 creamy Earl Grey, which had a bit of velvety texture to it, smooth and delicious. Less than 10 minutes later comes the food, I ordered both the French toast and baked egg, yes both for myself. The French Toast was amazing, the thickness of the bread allows me to pour all the maple syrup on top without soggying the the center of the bread, so that you can have both the full flavor of syrup and the fluffiness of bread, all in one bite. If the strawberry on the side was fresh, it would add another layer of refreshing tart to it... but today the strawberry on the side was frozen. My baked egg was perfect! One bite of sunny-side up egg, with the bold flavor of broccoflower (menu says cauliflower, but the bold flavor points to green cauliflower or "broccoflower"), cream, fresh tomato sauce and a hint of bacon and ham, it hit the spot, just right. read more

A really nice upper-scale restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh. Everything is extremely clean and modern inside, from the decorations, table settings, and furniture, to the uniforms the waiters wear and menu options. I came here for a brunch networking event. There was plenty of room to walk around and mingle. The staff walked around and asked us if we wanted anything to drink but didn't interrupt conversations. I ordered the French Toast and a side of bacon. The the French Toast was good, not anything different or special from what I've had before. I liked that the bread was thick, but it was a little bit tough, especially the crust. The strawberries and syrup were great toppings and added a nice flavor to the slight vanilla taste of the toast. My bacon was crispy, a little overdone, but still tasty. I also ordered a mimosa, it was delicious and refreshing. Overall, a classy atmosphere and great for business events or a nicer meal. Went for a pre-show dinner, so did not have our usual lingering time over dinner and so just stuck to a drink, a main and a desert. The place is just outstanding in terms of decor. There are three different seating areas and a bar area. Each it's own outstanding decorating achievement. Must see to appreciate. I think the ambiance is in perfect keeping with the restaurants 'modern American' theme. Plus they have an open Kitchen concept in the farthest back dining area. Of course we were there for dinner but they have a Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Brunch and Bar menu. The have a Raw bar with items such a oysters and scallop crudo. They keep things tight so the menu is not over large and everything is prepared to your order. Some of the mains are: agnolotti (a refined version of ravioli); octopus with lentils (did not have it, but it looked great at the next table); roasted chicken; lamb shank; and the sea bass which we had and enjoyed immensely. The Sea Bass comes with, and in, and on, saffron potatoes, with fennel in a rich outstanding bouillabaisse broth. In the broth also several mussels, and very tender squid (calamari). It's really hard to overstate how delicious this meal was. You will want a spoon and some toasted bread for dipping to enjoy the broth to it's fullest. Service was outstanding with a highly knowledgeable and sharp staff. Our server could recite every minute detail of every dish and was prompt and courteous and very helpful. For a desert we split a chocolate torte, which is sort of an understated name for a silky delicious concoction of milk chocolate ganache, dark chocolate mousse with luxardo cheeries (could have eaten a bowl more of these) and some fresh whipped topping. Oh my goodness. This was just outstanding and went very well with a beautifully made espresso.
