Brought my ipad pro in for a cracked screen repair. Gentleman at the desk was very helpful which is reason for 2 stars. Minus 3 stars for the service. For one, repairs took longer than was originally quoted. But more importantly, after I received repaired ipad back, battery now only lasts less than a day. Before cracking the screen, battery would last 2-3 days on a full charge. Also, face recognition no longer works. I've called and left messages but with no reply. Tried to save $100 by not going to apple. Won't make that mistake again. Update:.fellow yelper suggests that battery may have been swapped out. I'm inclined to believe seeing as they have not responded to any calls/messages. Changed review to 1 star. Customer service should match actual service. Too bad zero stars isn't an option. read more

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! I brought in my laptop to change the battery. They said it'll take 30 minutes to do. 4 days later it was ready. Not the problem. The problem here when I came to pick it up. There were scratches and dents ALL OVER the back on my laptop!!!!! I had a cow!! This is a brand new MacBook!!! They blamed me and said that I probably brought it in like that!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!??!? Absolutely unprofessional place!!! I'm sooo livid!! Michael then offered me a new back for free. I went to pick it up and there's STILL DENTS AND SCRATCHES!!!!! No!!! I will be filing a lawsuit and shut this place down. They did this to the wrong person. UPDATE: The store manager, Lia, contacted me and we met at the store. She honestly went above and beyond for my satisfaction and was willing to get me another back for my laptop but it still would have scratches. After she cleaned the other back they had ordered for me, it still had few scratches but it was better than my original. I don't think I'll be going there anymore (even though I want to support local shops) but maybe if I needed smaller repairs that will not involve major work. But I honestly would recommend anybody to work with Lia other than anyone else workin there. read more

As someone who has found both Berkeley and (both the old and new) Concord locations to be nothing but kind & helpful when needed, i.e. that one occasion in a blue moon when one finds one's self in a pinch, it is... none too difficult... to glowingly recommend 'Fix That Mac'.  Although not included in the list of providers which presently appears at 'apple.com', 'Fix That Mac' is more than qualified to handle whatever may happen to arise for a given hobbyist: the availability of both hardware and software expertise (which was on offer for our 27" iMac repair) was - and is, obviously - invaluable i.e. in light of Genius Bars not always being available. Few other shops would likely find a way to replace an LCD & fix a boot problem on a decade-old computer - and while a public health crisis is raging, no less; 'Fix That Mac' did so expeditiously and at a reasonable cost.   Further, a brief chat with the owner confirmed that 'Authorized Service Provider' designation awaits another day, i.e. when a 'Right To Repair' assures anyone needing the service of 'Fix That Mac' won't be bound by onerous terms and/or inflated prices for their choice of repair. read more

I was nearly in tears when my desktop Mac crashed while making a video using Premier Pro on our recent vacation. I had used the 1 terabyte and it was not rebooting. After a few days Josh was able to determine the problem and was able to install a 3 terabyte solid state drive to replace the 1 terabyte disc drive that I had. The man that I spoke with on Monday 6/5/23 was not helpful at all. My computer was hacked. What I need other then upgrading the computer is a report of the hacked data to give the police department. I brought my old IPod in to have the battery replaced at Fix That MAC in Berkeley which they did. Then I needed to transfer all my iPod music (1000 plus songs) and playlists to my new iPhone XR which, despite the promises of the Apple Store on 4th street in Berkeley, were NOT transferred from my older phone when I came in with my new phone and old 6+. I then had an appointment with one of 4th Street Apple's so-called Geniuses who suggested I take my Xr home and restore an older iTunes backup from my PC to solve this problem. That process actually did nothing but cause more problems that took hours with Apple tech supervisors to fix, and still I had only 3 % of my music and playlists. iMac Berkeley referred me to iMac concord where, Michael, their tech service person, found a solution that had eluded everyone else. He transferred all the songs and playlists from my iPod. Today I picked up my Xr with ALL my songs AND play lists. He's the best! read more

I am writing a follow up review because the Dock/charger does not seem to work. I found out that the I-Phone does not charge or can't sync up with a Computer. The I-phone was able to charge and sync before we took it into the store to replace the screen. I took phone in on 2 separate occasions, and they can't figure out what's wrong with the phone. The battery now does seem to charge, but the phone won't sync. I left it with the store and they are going to send it to Berkeley's store and hope that Tyler the "Whiz Kid" can fix it. EMPLOYEE STOLE PHONE! My teenage daughter took her iPhone here for repair. An employee asked her for her password to access the phone & she didnt think anything of it so she gave him the passcode. When we returned for the phone, they couldnt find it and the employee had quit. A police report was filed and it took forever for the store manager to pay us the value of the stolen phone. Nothing came of the police report since I guess you need to catch the thief in possession of the phone. Since the event, we have experienced cyber theft from the thief accessing passwords and other sensitive information my daughter stored on the phone. Its been a terrible experience. Be warned and definitely never give your password unless you are ok with disgruntled employees having access to all your personal information. read more

One of the keys on my MacBook Air kept falling off and I needed to get it fix. FIX THAT MAC quickly found out why (bracket was broken off) and repaired it while I waited. It was done SUPER FAST. Now my MacBook Air is as good as new! The Gentleman who helped get it repaired said that older style MacBooks Airs are cool in that individual keys are simple to replace. Very nice guy here fixed a glitch in my 2018 iPhone 6 Plus and at my request put in a new battery all for less than my AT&T phone insurance deductible. And you know what they'd tell you if you walked into AT&T or Apple with any kind of problem with an old phone - in chorus now, buy a new one - and that will be $1000.
