A few weeks ago my smog light came on. I went to Fix and Smog and they said it was a sensor($700) and labor($300) and that would fix it. When I picked up the car the dash smog indicator was still on. They said drive it for a few miles and it will go away. I did, and it didn't. A few days later I took it in and they re-set the indicator. I drove it for a few more days and two indicator lights came on. I took it back again, they re-set the lights again and told me I had a bad gas cap. I went to the dealer and spent $40 for a new cap. A few days go by and the smog light comes on again. This time they tell me that the dealer sold him a defective sensor and that the dealer would not warranty the part. Fix and Smog said I needed to take it to a dealer and pay them to test there own part, and then they might honer the warranty. I took it to Villa Ford and they tested it and fixed it($825). It was a wiring harness that needed to be replaced NOT the sensor. So I went to Fix and Smog to get the smog light to go out, to diagnose the problem, to fix the problem, and to stand by there work. And after weeks and weeks Fix and Smog did NOT get the light to go out, did NOT diagnose the problem correctly, did NOT fix the problem, and did NOT stand by there work. They cost me $1,040 and they NEVER fixed the problem. I recommend that you take your car to anyone(even a dealer) before you take it to these guys. You admitted ordering and installing the wrong part. You say you never failed on check engine light issues, you charged me $1,040 and the engine light was still on. You then told me, after you took my money, that you were done with it and that I should take it to a dealer. I will let the people that read this decide weather you are an honest person. read more

Took my car in today to get my brakes done... they have been making some noise for awhile so it was much overdue.... :) First thing I noticed was a nice clean lounge area.. (I hate waiting in a messy, dirty lounge) I was greeted by the owner who couldn't have been more helpful... He explained to me the different pads I had to choose from and what the process was in plain english.. ( I can't understand car talk!) I took my wife 2013 Ford Fiesta to his shop to get it repaired. I told him the part that I needed so he goes in the back on his phone to make a call and comes back and tells me that the dealer is backed up and there's no time frame from when I can have the part delivered to me he said it could be anywhere from six months to a year. I went and called a dealer that I was working with previously and found out that that dealer has the part. I just don't like being lied to and this person lie to me in this person lied to me. So be careful when you go to him and try to order a part to repair your car because he might tell you the dealer or the manufacturer doesn't have it in that they're backed up. I also energy shop with the paperwork knowing what have to be done on my vehicle and I guess you must have not like that. read more

Bought a car and brought it in for a smog. They advertise $29.75 online plus $8.25 for a smog cert. After smogging my car I showed the technician/owner the coupon they advertise online and he said it's no good. I said why? He said "You are doing a car transfer so this advertised fee does not apply". I said what does me transferring the title on the car have to do with smogging my car? He just reiterated that because I'm doing a title transfer that it would cost more. Note: previous owner is supposed to smog car before they sell. Bottom line is these guys lie. I paid $58.00 for the smog and certificate and he charged me $2.00 for credit card processing. Complete bs. I was only overcharged $22.00 so it's not the end of the world. But, this guy is a slick bait and switch jerk. Take your car to another place. He overcharged the customer before me too whom I quickly alerted but the customer was in such a hurry he just let it go. read more

Owner Axle and Technicians Scott (caucasian male) are rude and wasted my time! The reason I am even giving this place 1 star is because ZERO is not an option ! Oh yeah, went in to do a biennial smog inspection. They tried telling me my fuel cap wasn't stock when I've never replaced it or tampered the fuel cap, it been stock since I bought it new years ago. Took it to a difference certified smog facility. Turns out the "Tampered " is irrelevant to the biennial smog inspection and original fuel cap was 100% function. I don't understand how this business keeps its door open when getting the kind of incompetence, lack of integrity and disregard for my consideration shown by staff at Fix-N-Smog. BEWARE! I highly recommend fix-n-smog for any of your mechanical needs. I went to fix-n-smog for an oil change, but I had many other problems with my car. It was making A LOT of noise and it constantly veered to the right when I was driving. The mechanics changed the oil and did a quick diagnostic on the car and saw that my axels were wasted, and all of my belts were BADLY in need of replacement. They replaced both the front axels, my timing belt, three other belts, and aligned my steering in a single day for $812. I shopped around and other mechanics in the area were charging $1000 just for replacing the timing belt. My car is running great. It drives straight, smooth, and there is no annoying noise coming from my belts. The mechanics Roger and Manny are really good, fast, and easy to talk to. If you come to fix-n-smog you will get better, faster, and more trustworthy service for a WAAAAYY better price than other auto repair shops. When I get rich and don't have car problems anymore I am going to bring my yacht to fix-n-smog so they can work on that too! read more

Used to go here. Won't ever again. I encountered too much of a bad and difficult attitude. They had our 2004 car for over an hour with no communication, then said it didn't pass due to a new air intake (with a filter) and another item, which was on the Jeep for the last two smogs which we passed without a question or ever realizing it might be a problem. It's not that it didn't pass that has us upset - it's the attitudes from the moment I walked in, (trying to be cheerful) left with no communication, and then when I thought you didn't pay until it passed it went down hill from there. ("We had your Jeep for an hour and have to make money, we are not charity." Well, I only asked them to smog it, not do anything else.) Not the kind of place that I could ever recommend. Left with a horrible feeling about this place. We then (immediately after getting home from this fiasco) went to the place we used to go to a few miles down Tustin Ave. In less than 30 min we had passed and were on our way home. The folks there saw the air intake and after 2 min on the internet, had the code for it and we passed no problem. He said some places will help (like he did) others you are on your own. BEWARE: You will pay full price whether you pass or not, so know that going in since it surprised us, and we had no idea it would not pass here - esp after it passed just down the street with no change but a code they input. read more

So Bad, So Sad~! I received a Fix-N-Smog circular mailer advertisement (Ad)in my mailbox in Santa Ana. The Ad promoted an "Oil Change" for $14.90 for up to 4 quarts of oil. I arrived early to Fix-N-Smog and was the first automobile for service. An older gentleman with a slight limp in his walk looked at the Ad I showed him and asked the make and model of my auto. He informed me my model had a 'Skid Plate' and it would be $10.00 additional dollars above the $14.90 advertised rate. A 'Skid Plate' is a flat piece of plastic that sits below the auto's oil pan to protect it from any debris one might run over on the roadway. The 'Skid Plate' is attached at one end that slides into a slot and rests on a lip as the other side has two 'knobs' that fit into notches. The knobs rotate 180 degrees with a tool such as a screw driver. When the knobs are rotated 180 degrees they line up to the opening and the 'skid plate' drops down on that end. One pulls the other fitting end off of the lip and it is removed to get to the Oil Filter and the Drain plug in the oil pan. The removal of the 'Skid Plate' takes 10 seconds to remove and approximately 15 to 20 seconds to put back on. For this $10.00 in an additional charge more. NOTE: The regular place I have had my oil changed at for the past 7 years, has closed for now due to Covid-19. That regular place charged $0.00 over seven (7) years and nearly 30 different oil changes to remove and re-attache the 'skid plate'. So Bad, So Sad. The older gentleman did tell me he would give me 5 quarts of oil rather than the 4 quart limit as part of the additional $10.00 charge. So Bad, So Sad. read more

BEWARE!! This business is super shady. I brought my truck for a rear brake service. An hour later I received a call from a service adviser indicating the truck needed new rear drums. A complete scam. I said no. The truck has 80K miles and the drums are not replaced until 200K. I had checked the drums a week ago. The drum were fine. I then paid for the service and drove my truck home when suddenly the tire air pressure sensor lite-up on the dash. I called Fix & Smog and the service adviser tried to lure me back to the shop so he could diagnosis the problem. The issue was that Fix & Smog dangerously over inflated all four tires with 80 psi of air. Normal operation psi are 45. This scam could have turned tragic if a tire ruptured while driving. Had their scam worked, they would taken air out each tire and charged me $50 to $200 for each sensor. Additionally, someone could have very easily lost their life. BE SUPER CAREFUL with this place. I will never return to this place. Your life and health are worth more than their sketchy coupons to lure people in and cheat them out of their hard earned money. read more

These guys are great. I took my car into fix n smog because it was leaking oil and they tell me the charge was $400 for the fix. Sounds ludicrous to me. I get a second opinion from a shop down the street, $1200. They tell me to try this oil leak stopper solution from Pep Boys for $10 so I did; didn't work. Go back to fix n smog and the worker (owner?) tells me whoever told me that would work is an idiot. I leave it in there over the weekend and I need new parts, they hold onto it for OVER a week in their garage taking up space. They wait until the part comes and didn't charge me any additional labor.
