Went with a group of six so got to try a lot of things. My favorite appetizer was by far the calamari. It was fantastic. Not your typical breaded with a heavy sauce but it was fresh and light with an incredible glaze/sauce to it. For the main I got the pear ravioli. The creamy sauce with the pasta was sweet and tangy and delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the stuffing for the raviolis was cheesy and paired excellently with the sauce. My girlfriend got the creamy poblano soup. It was a very light but tasty soup. It had the amazing taste of pepper but not the spice. Had a great dining experience! Our party of 4 had Saturday night reservations. We were greeted with a smile and sat promptly. We had not been before and the waiter was happy to answer questions and make recommendations. We had the hummus appetizer which was creamy delicious and for our main dishes we selected the Pickle Pizza (amazing), Carne Pizza with Avocado, Carne Asada Skirt Steak, and the Chicken Piccata. Everyone there is amazing! I try to go there on Thursdays after work. The GM is wonderful and so helpful! The bartender has a great memory and asks which of my usuals I'd prefer that night. I have always had zero complaints about the food or beverages. When it's hockey season, they will have the Kraken game on in the bar. Terrific customer service. Very attentive, and super likeable, host and wait person. She described the menu items that I had questions about in great detail. Told me some of her favorites and some of the restaurant-goers' favorites as well. The restaurant is quaint and the ambience is somewhere between business casual and slightly upscale. It's the kind of place where you can feel comfortable having a private conversation even if you are sitting next to groups of strangers at nearby tables. There are some pretty appealing items on the menu. With a wide array and broad range of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and such, their offerings are remarkably well thought out. What I mean is, even though they are typical categories they weren't all simply typical menu items. I think they have enough variety for all types of food interests and taste palates. While the pizza sounded pretty amazing, as described to me as being thin crust and wood-fired, I opted not to consume that many calories for lunch - this time!!! But, of course, I will definitely go back and try the pizza because everybody seems to rave about it especially here on Yelp. I instead chose the shrimp tacos. And my coworker opted for a chopped salad with a piece of grilled halibut on top. We also shared a gelato at the end. Well, we shared it until my colleague double-dipped. And then I had to push my delicious gelato over to her side of the table. Yep, that's the germaphobe in me. But my couple of spoons full of the gelato were very good. Actually all the food was delicious. I really think they are now on my list as a top tier shrimp tacos. Corn tortillas, filled with red cabbage, shrimp, pico de gallo, avocado, and some other stuff that I don't remember at the moment, but they were pretty darn good. My colleague said she enjoyed her salad with a piece of halibut on it as well. I am super glad I tried this place. This has been a favorite restaurant for a while (so I should've done a review sooner!) Everything is phenomenal, but we especially love their pizza and salads. We refer to their pepperoni pizza as crack pizza, it's THAT good! We recently did a to go order since we wanted to support them during this COVID shut down. The online ordering process was simple. The food was ready on time, the staff was courteous and you could tell taking the utmost care. The cherry on top, they said thank you for the support. Last night 08/29/24 was the third time we were at Five. The food was awesome! The service was disappointing! Everything ran late drinks took forever, appetizer came about 10 minutes after we got our drinks, then she brought a salad that I wanted to have with my dinner but my entree arrived about an hour after we arrived it was a pork chop. I have order this before and never had it take so long. I was told by the waitress it takes 20 minutes to cook well longer if you forget to put the order in I suspect. And then cop an attitude you F**ked up not me. Will be thinking long and hard about going back which is sad. Good awesome service not so much read more

I've been here a couple times now. Would like to come back to try other things. Some of their dishes are outstanding while others are missing the mark on execution and portion. Five is pushed back from Edmonds Way and many people that have lived here for years that I've talked to about it have never heard of it, even those who live in Woodway which is the neighborhood right behind it. It's next to the Shell on your right as you're driving into Edmonds from the ferry dock. There is limited parking and Five is bigger and nicer than it appears from the exterior. Five also charges fine dining prices when it doesn't have the service, atmosphere or menu to match. I've been seated indoors as well as the patio in the back. The inside has a minimal feeling with a lot of wood and black cement floor. The restroom was my favorite room, as weird as that sounds: it had a bookcase with faux books, tealight candles everywhere and a very cozy feeling. There's a small bar to the right of the main entrance. The patio is great on a nice day with a garden setting and heaters in case it gets chilly. The metal tables and chairs are a bit uncomfortable and our table wasn't even but the waiter stuffed something under a leg so it would stop rocking back and forth after I brought it to his attention. I've received warm welcomes and grateful goodbyes coming and going. The waiters have been very friendly, professional and haven't missed a beat. My only critique would be to not reach over the table from the patio's entrance because the waiter didn't want to walk up the ramp to our table. The dishes I've had are: Hummus with Flatbread appetizer - The flatbread was really something else. The hummus was fresh with tomatoes and tasted great. Chopped Salad - Salami, cheese, tomatoes, garbanzo beans. Light and refreshing. Carne Asada Steak - This was a disappointment. I ordered a steak because I was hungry, well aware this is flank steak but at $25, I was expecting more than the two 2" strips of steak. Also, I asked for it to be medium well, and it was cooked well done. It also didn't taste like carne asada, just regular flank steak. Came with half a cob of corn that was grilled and some potatoes. Wouldn't order again based on lack of flavor, small portion and cost. Chicken Special - On the list of specials, this was a chicken breast that my husband ordered. He loved it and ate every speck off his plate. Neither of us remember anything else about his entree to share. Chocolate Chip Cookie $8 - This was served in a ~5" cast iron skillet with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was lava hot but once it cooled off a bit, we ate every crumb. read more

Side of warm toasted bread to enjoy with the scallops. The only regret I have is sharing this dish! So so good. Organic Chicken Breast ($21): Crispy and juicy chicken breast served with veggies,mushroom crimini sauce, and mashed potatoes. The crimini sauce paired extremely well with everything on the plate. Seafood was so fresh, prawns were giant, and the sauce was delicious!!! The pizzas are also very good. I usually do not eat crust, but here you don't even notice it because the crust is so soft and tasty. I was there on July 9th with a group of friends. I ordered the French Cut Pork Chop. I absolutely loved the Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, so they get 2 stars for that. The pork chop looked delicious, so imagine my surprise when I found it so hard to cut. I asked a friend to help me cut it, then bit into it. It was the DRIEST and hardest to chew chop I have ever tasted! It was horrible! I'm not fond of restaurants who don't put their prices on their menus. I find it pretentious and ridiculous, but I was anxious to try it. There was NO compensation offered for my dried-up pork chop. I was charged full price. A restaurant with class and integrity would have comped that part of the meal. I won't be back. read more

We've been to FIVE a dozen times over the years. It's predictably good, I usually get the rigatoni and my wife, the beet salad. Staff are professional though seem to always be very busy. Stopped in for a quick dinner last night before picking up my kiddo at the ferry, and the experience was so good that I was giddy Brian was our server and he was so great that even my other kiddo (18 years old) said something to me. He was kind, friendly, attentive, responsive - all the good. When the ferry arrived early and I had to run, he even figured out how to box up the skillet cookie dessert so that I could get to the ferry on time without a kid bitching and moaning that he didn't get to eat his dessert :) But the food. The FOOD! Holy crap, that was the best piece of halibut I've had in years, and I loooove halibut. Flavorful, glistening on the inside, tender as butter. The garnishes were equally outstanding, the butternut squash and farro with the asparagus were all perfect. Yes, I'm gushing. Safety protocols were fully in place too, something I'm hyper-aware of, and that was much appreciated. Already plotting another trip to Edmonds just so I can eat at Five Bistro again. read more

I called in to place an order, and was asked to place the order online, which is fine. I asked if I could ask a question, and the woman who answered told me that I could. So I asked if a substitution was possible, and started describing the substitution, and she interrupted me to tell me curtly that it was not possible and that it was only what they were serving on the menu posted online. No apology, no tone of understanding -- just a sense that I was wasting her time. I understand if you're only doing set meals, but please understand that you still need to be polite when providing customer service and not treat your customers like they are an imposition. You are a restaurant and so it is not an unusual question to ask if a substitution is possible. A different restaurant will be getting my business as a result. read more

I deducted a star because it's a very Loud restaurant, and the tables are kinda close together. I came in Sunday night with a group of 8. All the food looked fantastic, and my Carne Asada was perfectly medium rare. EXCELLENT food, everyone was super happy. A very strong four stars, and based on the quality of the food I was served, it probably deserves a five. I ordered a Caesar salad to start, and it was delicious, but the absolute best part of the meal before I got to the main course was the Calamari. For those of you that have traveled to southern Spain you will know what I am talking about, and if I am fortunate enough to return, I think I might order two servings of the calamari, it was "that" good. They don't coat it in bread, but rather it is seasoned perfectly with garlic, oil, and butter and I repeat, it was delicious. I had salmon for the main course, and it was delicious, too. We started with a split Caesar salad. It was ok, but very light on the dressing. Dinner was tasty. Our table enjoyed the salmon, seafood pasta, pizza and halibut. The portions are on the smaller side, but the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. Service was nice and friendly. A little slow, but we were warned they were having issues with the oven. There was a slight misunderstanding with the wine, we started with a bottle and then asked for a glass of the same bottle once it was done but were brought another wine. All and all, a very nice dinner and I would definitely go back. We went a couple years ago and I thought this time was improved both in food and service. Although the menu is very limited, I can overlook that as they have made to order guacamole!!! It is one of the best and you can customize it anyway you like because it is truly fresh. It's the only way you should eat guacamole IMO. The restaurant itself is kind of hidden in Edmonds, so not the most hopping area. But inside is very cute, albeit the bathroom very dark. My favorite is the outdoor patio with a fresh garden. Seems like they are growing strawberries, blue berries, lettuce, mint leaves, you name it through drain pipes or whatever those things are. SO COOL. Such a chic, but hipster spot. I would definitely be back for their happy hour which is a better deal than their regular menu. I only wish they were in Seattle. read more

Just left the restaurant and didn't even get anything to drink or eat. Rude and arrogant people work here. 1. We called ahead to ask if they had any tables for 2 available and they said yes. We get there and they ask if we have a reservation and take time to decide that they can seat us inside. 2. We sit and it takes 15 minutes to be approached and asked what we want to drink. The server suggests that the it's important to mention a cab is more expensive than another one as if to profile me. 3. Some lady who I think is a manager, rudely comes up to us with masks in her hands and says it's the law to wear masks inside. Yes. We understand but we're eating and drinking so How do you suppose we do that. She proceeds to explain "that getting up and walking around might make everyone uncomfortable" if we didn't have one on. I'm sorry? We never got up or walked around not once since we walked in. Take your opinions about how we are minding our business sitting at our own table and keep them to yourself when we were customers coming in to pay an additional %3 surcharge on our bill to support your COVID struggles. What a great restaurant to visit while in Edmonds. I want here for my birthday with my sister, my mom, and my mom's friend. we shared and arugula salad, the goat cheese appetizer, and a pizza. I really liked the goat cheese appetizer that they have because it was simple, yet delicious. For the pizza, we got the regular margherita pizza (but they don't call it that, it's just tomato, mozzarella, and basil on the menu). the server was nice, attentive, but not too attentive, which is great. I would definitely come back here for happy hour or with my friends so I can try their cocktails. -1 star because of the parking spots in front of the door. There was an SUV that pulled in and lit up the whole restaurant. It would be nice if the doors were tinted so that vehicle lights don't affect the dining experience. My mom had a sinus migraine that night, and when the SUV with bright halogen lights pulled in, it made her sinus migraine worse. read more
