Sonoma Chardonnay, happy hour!
Susan C.

Very outdated old school restaurant along the Marina in Edmonds. Nice views from each table I was there for happy hour and order the crab cocktail as it was recommended by my waiter. It arrived and I quickly noticed that it was frozen shredded parts of the Dungeness. It tasted pretty meh. He admitted it was taken out from a large previous frozen bag and quickly brought me some steam clams instead. The crab cocktail as taken off my bill and all is well. This is probably the best seashore location in Edmonds but pretty outdated. I hear they are remodeling?

Oven Roasted Stuffed Prawns

I went to Arnie's with my mother for Mother's Day. When I saw the majority of its customers were older people, I was right to assume that any seasoning other than salt would not be used. The service was fine, but I'm not one to really harp on that. I got the Oven Roasted Stuffed Prawns, which were fine but they had the shell still on them which made it difficult to eat without using my hands. The rice was also incredibly flavorless and at times I wasn't sure it was fully cooked. The vegetables had no seasoning to speak of. The crème brûlée, which they called a 'Burnt Cream' (making my eye twitch), was great though. Probably the only thing I had that I enjoyed, but I also love crème brûlée. Overall, it was fine but I probably will not return. Our meal totaled to around $150, which I felt wasn't worth what we got. This also includes an extra 4.8% surcharge that went entirely to the House, not the staff, which is the trend right now for Washington restaurants. 3 stars solely because I've had worse food and the crème brûlée was good.

We stopped by here on our way up north. Incredible views, friendly staff, and the food is amazing. My favorite was the seafood bisque and crab dip - absolutely incredible.

Is there outdoor seating available?

There are 4 tables outside, covered, with heaters overhead. It is suitable for as low as 45-50 degrees, cloudy or rainy weather. Might not work as well if it's very windy or cold. I've survived (but don't recommend) dining in freezing weather… Read more

She was extremely helpful throughout the process and was not bothered in the least as I had to make some adjustments a few days prior. It was a very smooth process and she answered all my questions. Definitely try her food out. You won't regret it!

We ordered an abundant spread, and every dish impressed. The clear crowd favorite was the Singapore black pepper prawns - fragrant, perfectly spiced, and completely addictive. That black pepper sauce was hands down the star of the meal: rich, peppery, and deeply flavorful. It was my favorite and could easily be eaten on everything. The Mala curry crab and XO crab were both outstanding; layered with complex, indulgent flavors. The Thai green chili clams and saus mentega clams were vibrant and comforting, while the crab fried rice had generous morsels of crab folded throughout the dish. We also really enjoyed the Indonesian chicken wings, which were crispy and flavorful, and the stir-fried vegetables, which added a fresh, well-balanced contrast to the seafood-heavy menu. Everything traveled well, was thoughtfully prepared, and made for an unforgettable catered meal. If you're considering catering from Marimakan Crabhouse, I can't recommend it highly enough. Get the black pepper sauce! Amazing from start to finish, and Chef V or Rachel is lovely to work with.

We've had their fresh poke several times and our favorites are the spicy ahi and traditional ahi, and their mac salad is similar to what you can get in Hawaii. Chirashi bowl has a great selection of maguro, salmon, hamachi, shrimp, and egg, all over sushi rice. There's a great selection of fish and we appreciated them cleaning and scaling our branzino that came out delicious on the grill. Prices may be a little higher than other markets, but you can definitely tell you're getting top quality. No seating available to enjoy your chirashi or poke bowls, but plenty of parking. This place can get busy on the weekends so suggest you go early to get the best picks!

One of my first meals after moving here was a poke bowl from this spot! I've been here almost two months and have already visited at least 4-5 times - I've lost count, actually, but I know I'll be back for more. This is already on my place to go treat myself for my upcoming birthday. I'm now totally addicted to their salmon dip. The pricing is reasonable (please don't change), which is fantastic, and the staff I've encountered have all been very kind.

Took me awhile to decide on what to order lol. Settled with steak bites, steamed clams, crab and artichoke dip, fried cod and salad with salmon. We loved the steak bites! The extra veggies of onion, peppers and mushrooms were delicious. Steak was tender and flavorful. Clams were meaty and tasted good with crispy cheesy bread to dip in that sauce. Crab dip was also good. My fried cod and fries was really good. Crispy outside and juicy cod inside. Slaw and tartar sauce were all on point. My friends salmon salad was really delicious too. Overall was a great meal. And we also had a slice of lemon cheese cake and salted caramel cake and that was all amazing. So happy to know the restaurant is still in business and good still tasted great. Will return soon

The first time we visited the Hook (more than…read morea couple years ago), I had some overcooked fish with bland sides and watched from the patio as a hit and run took place in the parking lot (which had nothing to do with the restaurant!). We left and never felt compelled to return. A couple days ago, on a lark and searching for some new-to-us takeout to meet our visiting family's lunch needs, we found ourselves again at the Hook. And what we ordered was so good. So. Good. I ordered the salmon burger, a juicy piece of salmon embraced in a toasted bun with simple lettuce, tomato, and mayo along for the ride. Some weeks ago, I'd had a similar sandwich at a reputed spot in Pike Place market. The Hook's was much better, and I have been thinking about ordering it again for two days now. Their fries were also some of the best I've had in town, and I'm not usually excited about fries. My family all had panko-crusted halibut (fish and chips style), and this, too was shockingly good. It was even tasty and crisp as leftovers reheated in the air fryer! (I know, I know, but who is throwing away fish in this economy?) I am but a humble Yelper and have learned my lesson. If, at first, your fish is dry, (maybe) try again!

The pickled radish balanced the bone marrow so well, and the flavor of the marrow w the seasoning was a great balance of savory flavors. The Santa Maria Plate had chicken, picanha, skirt steak, and sausage, but we asked for the extra surf and turf that came with scallops and prawn. The meat was very well prepared, with specific high marks for the skirt steak. Perfectly cooked and had that charcoal flavor you just can't recreate. The resateaunt is situated next to an art gallery and offers views into the gallery which is such a nice design touch and adds to the overall ambiance and experience. Came here with a…read morelarge group for a special celebration (the manager of our group had called the restaurant in advance and asked for permission for this celebration and permission for things like small decorations at the table, which was all OKed in advance). While the majority of the staff were excellent, there was one front hostess that really went out of her way to be very rude to our group and kept coming over (she was not our waitress who was great). She really spoke down on us in regards to tone, hovered, and was overall very standoffish, hovering and glaring at us (for example, adding different rules - when we all mingled around the guest of honor when he came, she immediately came over and said "Ok, I need you to sit down now to order", saying that we couldn't do certain things e.g. when we had a group photo, there was a flash and she immediately chastised us with "no flash photography" immediately, etc). She eventually left (shift ended?) and we were able to have a more quiet pleasant evening after that without having pressure or feeling like we were problematic (we were trying to be respectful and mindful of other patrons and were overall as considerate as a large corporate group could be and other patrons did not seem to mind - several tables around us even interacted with ours/got the attention of our group to congratulate the guest of honor). We ordered different appetizers and drinks. The bread and burrata were standard, I wasn't a fan of their calamari (which was soft and not very seared, which was unexpected). I tried both the steak (the 12 oz sirloin which was $75 and also got to try the scallops). The majority of the group who tried the steaks (mostly filet mignon's and sirloins) were satisfied. I thought the steak had a nice char flavor (from the charcoal namesake) and the potato that accompanied it was layered and crispy. However, the scallops which I tried (a part of the surf and turf) came out very small and overcooked unfortunately, which was disappointing for a $45 dish. I think the total came out to well over $110 per person before tip and tax from the entrees, appetizers and drinks, which does put things on the slightly pricier side. Foodwise, I would say the steak was tasty (albeit over $70) and the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, but wasn't a fan of the other dishes. Service was mixed, with it being an overall pleasant experience, but one person can really ruin the atmosphere. Probably would try a different place in the future just due to the inconsistent experience.
