In early 2025, my 2014 Ram 2500 Powerwagon had a bad tick and it turned out to be a bad lifter that wore the camshaft... long story short, I needed a new 6.4l hemi for my truck. I got quotes for it from about 11 different mechanics. I went with 5 MILE AUTO CENTER because of the communication and the transparency of what was included and how much each item would cost. The work was done in the promised timeframe and they kept me informed on the progress and answered questions every time I had them. Then when I came in after done work and made my final payment I was informed that not everything they quoted was needed and they were able to do the work for less than what they thought and agreed on. THEY WERE TOTALLY HONEST AND ACTUALLY CHARGED ME OVER $500.- LESS !!!! I could not believe it! I have not met anyone like that!! Then later on after about 2 weeks, the fan was still much louder than I was used to (turned out my old fan clutch was actually broken and that is why it was so quiet) he replaced it and put in a new one, all under warranty, did not charge me a dime! In addition they topped off my transmission fluid which was low, for no charge at all. My experience with 5 MILE AUTOMOTIVE CENTER could not have been more pleasant! A huge shout out to the 5 MAC and everyone who works there, I d recommend them for any work you need done on your car! They are HONEST, CARING and TRUSTWORTHY, and of course, my truck runs like a champ now!! Will take all my vehicles there if I ever need anything. read more

I just moved to Spokane and have a hard time trusting auto mechanics. I always do a test question to see if I can trust a mechanic, and this place passed with flying colors. Not only that, but they make it really easy to get my car fixed when I have a 8-5 work day. I just leave my car early and pick it up after work. They are quick, give me an honest diagnoses, and fair value for their services. I have gone to them a couple times and will continue to do so. this used to be my number one spot to go to in town. I never had any issues for 20 years with that place until ownership changed from the head mechanic to whoever the heck owns it now not sure don't really care. All I know is they used to be a great family owned business. They used to want to work on any car possible even if they had a two week waiting. Period. They would still figure out a way to help and nowadays if you don't have an appointment apparently they're going to tow your stuff away so look forward to that. Look forward to getting shitty customer service and definitely look forward to over paying for everything, I used to recommend people to that place to anybody that needed car help/info but with a change of ownership I highly recommend nobody goes there unless you want to waste money or not have things fixed properly, sadly, my grandfather's legacy has completely disappeared from that place and again, I really appreciate all the not helping you did. it Definitely meant a lot. read more

I am so grateful for Five Mile Auto and their staff. I began having problems with my car breaking down in intersections. I took it to a different auto shop originally where they blew off my concerns saying "cars do that sometimes and it may never happen again". Five Mile Auto got me right in the morning I called, gave me a ride home, and kept me up to date with everything they were finding. They got my car in and out that day. It runs like a new car now. Such a great experience! Highly recommend. I was sent over to Five Mile Auto by the neighboring bike shop, Bicycle Butler. I was in need of a hitch installation for my new bike rack. I went in on a Friday right before close, the gentleman was so nice to me. I really didn't know too much about what I needed or what I was talking about, which can sometimes be annoying or frustrating to someone who does but the gentleman was so patient. He got my name, number, car make and model then he assured me that he would call around on Monday to get my car part ordered and then get me back in ASAP. We had everything in, ordered and put together by mid day Tuesday. When I dropped the car off they offered to give me a ride home if needed, they stayed almost completely on their time quote and 100% on their price quote. A+ experience. Thank you. read more

I ended up here on a Saturday afternoon because the store where I bought my new battery said, yes, we install batteries, and then decided after I'd already paid my money, that no, they couldn't do it after all. And, naturally, they couldn't recommend a place that was open on a Saturday. I'm disabled, it's triple digit temps, I have a new battery but no one to install it and a car that won't start **because it needs a new battery**. So when I called these guys, I wasn't expecting much. Yet, they fit me in on a hot Saturday afternoon, even though they were booked solid. I showed up, I was taken care of immediately. Did I mention they were busy? They have a steady stream of customers, some they've known for decades, especially the oldish sorts of people (not trying to be ageist here, but the sorts of people who are kind of lonely and need to chat, chat, chat). They were patient with me, and the old people, plus efficient, and funny. I should have gotten names. Yes, they are ALWAYS busy, so if you're booking some time for something, please have patience yourself. There's a reason they're always busy. They do good work for reasonable money. If i could give a zero I would . took my truck into them because of a leak . i was told my transmission cooler lines were leaking , and my oil pan was leaking , over 1000.00 dollars to fix because they were hard to get to..i declined to get it fixed and went to pick up my truck and was charged 57 dollars because they put it on the lift to find it . probably a 1 minute job at most..they were going to charge me for all 3 lines plus the labor..i took my truck to a reputable transmission repair , 1 line was leaking ..repaired and out the door for 186 dollars 34.99 parts rest labor..oil pan leak was minimal and will get it fixed at another time .5 mile was going to charge over twice as much..Do your homework !! Don't waste your time with a Saturday appointment. I made it three days ahead of time for an emissions issue, dropped my truck at 8am. I have tried these guys twice. They are close to my house. The first time, they told me they would call before fixing anything, but instead just fixed it and called with the charge. The second time I went in for an emission light diagnosis. And when they called back they spent half the time on the phone trying to talk me into fixing my brakes. ( Which have absolutely no problems.) The emission problem he quotes me a flat rate labor of over $500. When I mentioned that I had had the part off earlier in the week and it had only taken me 20 minutes to pull off, clean and reinstall install, he said, Well that's our flat rate price. Not some place I will go again. I realize that repairs cost money. But certainly feel like they were trying to gouge me. read more

I know I'm a girl and I don't know a lot about cars, but I do know when I'm getting ripped off. I took my car in because my check engine light came on. 5 Mile Auto was recommended to me by a co-worker and I trusted him. They repaired the part and my car works fine, but it took them 2 hours to diagnose the car (which might have been less because they wrote down my phone number wrong, so they weren't able to contact me) and they charged me for scanning my car and explained if I had just asked them to scan it and had given me the codes, it would have been free. But since I told them my check engine light was on and the scan can be wrong, it was going to be $85 when a scan takes 5 minutes to do and most other places will write off the scan. They also charged me $85 and hour for labor and charged me for an hour and a half for labor even though they called me at 3:30 and told me at 4:30 my car was ready. I don't even get charged this much at the dealer! I don't like getting ripped off just because I'm a girl. And they just lost a customer. read more
