This is the third time I've been here and it's just an okay cafe. Pluses: it's in a cute house, great indoor/outdoor seating, large menu. Negatives: the food is simple and no real flavor. I ordered the quinoa salad special this time and they forgot to include quinoa... The service has been fine eat time I've been. It's -always- been cold inside. If you're looking for a simple place to eat that is very casual, this is the place. But there are so many better options for good food around here.

Always tasty and consistent! Excellent brunch options here, full bar. The Southern Benny is by far my favorite brunch item here. Delicious fat crab cake, perfectly paired with pimento cheese and a lightly fried green tomato and the hollandaise sauce with a perfect egg. A+

This place is so cute! I came in on a Sunday for brunch with a friend and we were seated right away. It appears to be in an old house that has been renovated. There is a beautiful fireplace when you walk in and smaller rooms with tables, which makes it feel very cozy. I ordered a cold brew coffee, it was okay. I also got a cup of their potato, broccoli & cheddar soup. It was. generous portion for a cup! Absolutely delicious and fresh tasting. For my entree, I ordered the roasted turkey sandwich. Sourdough bread was so soft and airy and turkey was good quality-- not overly processed or salty. It was $15 for just the sandwich (no side included), so on the pricey side. I did notice that they are able to do all their sandwiches gluten free if you need that. Server was nice and attentive, they take Blackbird for payment, which I utilized. Cute inside, good food. I'll be back!

Monte Cristo, grit with cheese. 5/10

We were wanting a good brunch and we decided to stop here. The inside of the restaurant is very nice but the food was not that great. We ordered the special which was the biscuits with strawberry hibiscus butter, that's what sold me because in my mind I had a vision of fresh strawberries and hibiscus pieces pressed into butter with warm flaky biscuits. That was far from my reality. We got 2 lukewarm flat biscuits with what tasted like regular butter with pink food coloring in it. 3/10. After the very disappointing special, I tried to play it safe with the Monte Cristo and a side of cheesy grits. My husband got all sides because they don't have a traditional breakfast on their menu, biscuits and sausage gravy, bacon, and a side of cheesy grits. The Monte Cristo was good. It was very filling, I ended up eating half of it. Both mine and my husbands cheesy grits tasted like it had some blueberry flavor in it. The sausage and gravy was bland. The bacon was delicious. I'm not sure what happened to this place but it used to be so good. We were disappointed this time around.

We love Five Loaves. As a pescatarian with a gluten-free fiancée we can always find great food here! Amazing soups (broccoli cheddar), sandwiches w gluten free bread, salads with locally sourced ingredients and craft cocktails! We've been several them and have always been pleased with the meals. We've sat in the porch and inside and even moved our book club here and they've been very accommodating!

Five Loaves Summerville is hands down my favorite location. The service is always warm and welcoming. The ambiance is cozy, inviting, and wonderfully relaxed. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The FLC Caesar salad served with warm tortellini is my go to dish. It is comforting, delicious, and incredibly satisfying, and the broccoli and cheese soup is rich, creamy, and full of cheesy goodness. The portions are also much more generous than the other location, making every visit feel like an exceptional and enjoyable dining experience.

Wonderful cafe and absolutely worth a stop for lunch if you're traveling through this charming downtown! Neat setting and the service is excellent. We tried the tomato soup and it was homemade goodness! Not sure the origin of their breads, but if we lived here we'd find it and make it our place to buy bread for home. The turkey sammie was good, but the chicken salad blew it away. Damn! It would be nice if they offered french fries as an option, instead of a bag of chips . . . Cheers! RS

We met my son and his girlfriend here after moving them to Summerville from Missouri. I loved the atmosphere! We ordered mimosas from the bar while we were waiting for our table. They were perfectly light on orange juice! We all enjoyed our food and drinks and will definitely be coming back on our next visit.

Another date night win at one of our local favorites. Five Loaves Cafe just launched their Spring menu a couple of days ago, and Chef Rhett & Chef Stephen knocked it out of the park. This might just be my favorite FLC menu launch yet, and I hope they stick around! Service is always amazing and we always leave happy and full. Spring Bonus - Make sure to take advantage of the great Spring weather and dine on the patio. Rotating Mocktail FLC Spritz - Aperol, prosecco, limoncello, muddled strawberries Seasonal Margarita - Espolon tequila, triple sec, agave, fresh seasonal juices (Prickly Pear) Chicken Feta Meatballs - tri colored bell peppers, tomato-vodka sauce Bread basket with oil and vinegar Vegetable lettuce wrap with shrimp - this wasn't on the menu but if you can get it, get it! Citrus Kale Salad - blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, feta, carolina gold rice BBQ Spice Pork Tenderloin - field pea succotash, corn, bacon, onions, red peppers, rosemary blackberry jam FLC Crab Cakes - pistou creamed carolina gold rice, kale, whole grain mustard remoulade Red Wine Braised Short Rib - garlic whipped potatoes, grilled asparagus, mushroom ragu Coconut Cake

Five loaves Cafe in Summerville is set up in a very cute large cottage in Summerville. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and very comfortable. The hostesses were very friendly upon arrival and immediately sat us at a great table. The food was amazing and came in very large portions. I got the tofu scramble and my husband got the breakfast sandwich. Both were very yummy! I love this place. We will definitely come back.

This is our favorite spot in Summerville! The food is always delicious and the staff is also kind and attentive. The prices are also very low considering the high end food selections. We love the gnocchi and short rib!

We were sat immediately, and our waitress. Ashlyn, was prompt to greet us. She was very attentive and quick with drink refills and brought everything out in good timing. We had house salads, and we commented on how crisp they were in cold plates, making such a big difference. For our meals, we had salmon, ribs and steak entrees w sweet and loaded baked potatoes. The salmon was seasoned well and the sweet potato w cinnamon was hot and tasty. The steak and ribs were also done very well, cooked properly. I honestly can't say anything negative about the food or service. We will definitely go back. Thank you Ashlyn!

If you're looking for the gold standard of brunch in Summerville, look no further than First Watch…read moreon North Main Street. This isn't just your typical "eggs and toast" diner; it's a full-on culinary experience that manages to feel both incredibly healthy and deeply indulgent at the exact same time. From the second you walk through the door, you're hit with the "Sun-Up" vibe--it's bright, airy, and smells like fresh-squeezed citrus and high-end coffee. We were greeted by a host who gave us a realistic wait time, but here is a pro tip: use their app to join the waitlist before you even leave your house. We did that and were whisked to a booth within five minutes of arriving. The Appetizer You Can't Skip We started with the Million Dollar Bacon, and let me tell you, the name is an understatement. It's four slices of hardwood smoked bacon baked with a brown sugar and black pepper crust, finished with a maple syrup drizzle. The way the cayenne pepper provides a tiny kick at the end to balance the sweetness is genius. It is thick, crispy, and honestly, I would come back just for a plate of that. The Main Event For the mains, our table tried a variety of dishes to see if the kitchen could handle the rush: Lemon Ricotta Pancakes: These are probably the fluffiest pancakes I've ever had. The ricotta adds a creamy richness without making them heavy, and the marinated berries on top were burst-in-your-mouth fresh. They didn't even need extra syrup. The Tri-Athlete Omelet: For those trying to stay on track with fitness goals, this is the move. It's an egg white omelet loaded with house-roasted onions, tomatoes, and cremini mushrooms. It felt light but was surprisingly filling. Farmhouse Hash: This is the ultimate comfort bowl. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly (not too salty), and the two over-easy eggs on top created a rich sauce that tied the whole thing together. The Juice Bar & Coffee You cannot visit First Watch without hitting the juice bar. We tried the Purple Haze--it's visually stunning with the butterfly pea flower, and the lemon/cane sugar combo is incredibly refreshing. Also, their Project Sunrise Coffee is some of the best "restaurant coffee" I've ever tasted. Knowing it supports female farmers in Colombia makes that second (and third) refill taste even better. Service & Atmosphere Despite the place being packed, the service was seamless. Our server, Justin, was a machine--he anticipated our refills before we even asked and knew the menu inside and out, even suggesting a side of the "Greens dressed with lemon" which was a perfect palate cleanser. The atmosphere is energetic but not so loud that you can't have a conversation. Whether you're a local or just passing through the 29483 area, this First Watch location is firing on all cylinders. It's clean, the ingredients are top-tier, and the menu is creative enough to keep you coming back week after week.

Nope, about 4oz of berries and coffee with honey, creamer, turmeric, cinnamon and cayenne for me. Please note my listed concoction is extremely beneficial to the body, containing anti-inflammatory and antioxidants. Ok back to the point, I had the opportunity to meet a friend from church for lunch and I figured since I've never been to a First Watch in my life, to give it a try. The ride over at 11:15 on a Tuesday morning was easy, light on traffic with ample parking in a very safe section of town. I beat my comrade, for my Russian friends, to the restaurant as he was lagging a bit so the courteous wait staff promptly seated me. To be honest the franchise appears to have a forced hommy look to it. As if they're trying to be something you'd find on a winding country road where only the locals know about. To be honest, the ambiance is the lowest on my checklist, so depending on your perspective, that's a good thing. My hostess/waitress was asking me about my beverage before I was seated! I like this commitment to service. She even got me honey for my sweetener as I requested. Slow... slow golf clap from the audience. As I confessed before, I'm not a big breakfast person but I try to eat reasonable 90% of the time to stay "fit as a fiddle" (I'm curious where that analogy came from). While I could have enjoyed a great number of items, I opted for 1 Belgian waffle and 2 over easy eggs to go with my coffee. My skinny friend (grumble) got the Tri Fecta b/c.... well he's skinny! But as I recall it was about the same as my dish but with bacon. First off, my eggs were perfectly over easy - cooked 65% on one side the rest on the other with a very runny yolk, tasty! Now for the waffle, can we say "false advertising on 3?" Belgian waffles are thicker, have a "yiester" batter and pearl sugar. Plus, the "syrup traps" (all rights to Mitch Hedberg) are deeper while it has a crispier exterior and fluffier interior. In other words what I got was a deflated, defeated and structurally defunct piece of want to be abstract art, only something that a painter like Mark Rothko could appreciate (look him up). It was tasty but when I love waffles and have refrained for literal years I had my hopes set way to high. Anyways it was an average experience with only one syrup option! Oh I apologize for the pic, I was hungry and forgot to snap one before I destroyed it with my pitchfork. Overall, I don't want to nitpick too much but give constructive advice. So, the great -bacon, eggs, coffee, customer service, noise level and comfort. The average or slightly below average - the waffle (mislabeled) and ambiance via drab decor. If I were to come back, which isn't a reflection on the restaurant but my eating habits, I would opt for the eggs benedict as I make them all the time at home since homemade hollandaise sauce is easy and elevates any dish.

The shrimp and flounder were nicely cooked without heavy breading. The hush puppies were weird. They were cooked but had almost a beer batter thick outside and the inside tasted almost like raw meal or flour. Tasted greasy but they were not visibly greasy. Since it's their namesake, one would think the hush puppies would be great. I couldn't eat them. The fries had batter on them. They were crispy. I prefer no batter on fries but for those who like that, you'd probably like them. Now the sauces: the tartar was too salty and was missing something that I couldn't figure out. The cocktail sauce was also too salty but did have a nice horseradish kick. There was something missing from it too that I couldn't put my finger on. Maybe it was just the salt overload messing it up. Overall the seafood itself was pretty good but the sides and sauces bring my review down.
