Inside is a little worn and the counter service could be a bit friendlier but, not a bad experience. We were in the area and stopped for a group lunch. I ordered the bacon grilled cheese and mushroom soup. The sandwich was fabulous. A mixture of cheeses, including Brie. The soup had the makings of a perfect cup, just a bit too salty. Their pasta salad is made with balsamic which was delightful. Everyone seemed pretty content with their meal and everything was very reasonably priced. Came here for lunch on a Tuesday. You order at the counter, find a table and they bring the food to you. The server was very nice. We got a Caesar salad, Greek salad, and pear and goat cheese salad. This is my second time eating here. The first time was dine in. We had the French dip and it was amazing. Today, I ordered the pick two consisting of French dip and half Anjou pear salad. There was no au jus nor any pears on the salad. Pretty sad about that, but I probably wont order take out from here again. I will dine in next time to ensure nothing is missing. First time eating at this restaurant and the food were good. The soup of the day on Saturday was tomato basil soup and creamy mushroom soup. I ordered the mushroom soup which was so good with portabella chicken and goat cheese wrap. We also ordered grilled cheese with bacon with 3 type of cheese (Brie,mozzarella, and Monterey Jack )and a slice of tomato which my picky eater said it tasted good. The grilled cheese came with a choice of pasta salad, chips, side salad or potato salad. We were there for really late lunch and had to used the bathroom which brought us as the last person at their closing hour, 3pm. When we walked out the door, one of the employee yelled yay. Not sure why he yelled yay, maybe because we finally left which I think kinda rude. We didn't purposely linger but need to use the bathroom before we left and we had a long way back home. Heard about this place upon moving here and we decided to come here after the summerville's farmers market. A small quaint place with indoor and outdoor seating. The lady who took our order was very friendly and our food took about 20 mins. My husband got the grilled brisket and cheese sandwich which was delicious, along with a side of potato salad. I got the half size of eclectic pork Cuban with tomato basil. The only thing is that I didn't get the Caribbean sauce that was supposed to come on the sandwich but apparently they didn't have it, and the soup was good but it needed lots of salt as well as the potato salad. I can tell they go very light on the salt for their sides and soups. However the sandwiches overall were very good and the meats were tender and flavorful. read more

I started a new position in the downtown Summerville area and one of my new coworkers recommended this spot for lunch. I must say, I have been coming here since!! I just love the outside seating and I will be so sad when it gets too cold to sit outside! The food is great... my go to is the blackened salmon wrap with the eclectic house salad (which is a pick two option. There is an up charge for salmon.) it's sooo good with the apples and carrots and the soy sauce. I've never had apples in a wrap! Nice addition! Small little sandwich shoppe in the heart of Summerville. The decor is not the finest but the food more than makes up for it. The inside is small but there are outside seats for your enjoyment. The surrounding area is a quaint little shop area with the street closed to keep cars out. I had the Eclectic Cuban Panini which was absolutely perfect and potato salad as a side. The potato salad was just as flavorful although there were a couple under cooked potatoes in it. If not for that, it would have been perfect too. We have been coming to Eclectic Chef for a few years now and are definitely fans of the place! As you can see from my photos of endless pick two combos of various salads, sandwiches and the occasional soup, this is one of my favorite Summerville restaurants. Everything we have had there have been spot on with the exception of 1 out of 20 times that we have been there, where our soup was extremely salty. Otherwise, the food has always been deliciously freshly prepared and served. You order at the counter and they will deliver it to you inside or if you sit outside. Their sweet tea selections include peach tea, sweet and unsweet tea variations, which I love. The staff have always been nice and friendly. Though I have lived in Summerville I had never realized this place was more than a catering company until a friend took me here. It is a cute small restaurant but on a nice day there is plenty of outdoor seating which I actually prefer here. One thing to note is that it is only open for lunch, not dinner. The food speaks for itself in quality, taste, and also affordability. I got the equivalent of a "you-pick-two" with the chicken Caesar salad and the blackened salmon sandwich. The salad was good but the sandwich stole the show. It was actually an open faced sandwich with crispy melted Parmesan on the bread topped with an absolutely fantastic full piece of salmon and fresh greens. It is one of the best pieces of salmon I have ever had! Not only is the food great the price for my meal was only about $12-13 which, for salmon, is a steal. If you are in Summerville around lunch time this is a must try, you won't regret it! read more

My all time favorite and fresh lunch spot in Summerville. My family and I have been coming to the eclectic chef for years. It is our number one lunch spot in Summerville. Don't be fooled by the small, long, and narrow size of the restaurant. If there are no tables inside, there is plenty of outside seating as well! It may be small but the food is mighty good. Almost always I order from the "pick two" option. I always order the the Tuscan chicken panini and then, depending on the weather, I'll order a salad or soup. Their tomato soup is my go to when they have it and if it's hot outside I'll go with the eclectic house salad with balsamic dressing. (Pictured) When ordering at the eclectic chef I advise everyone to take advantage of the pick two option because you get a WHOLE SANDWICH and then A "half salad" which is basically the size of a whole for the same price as one or the other. However, don't be distracted by the menu itself, nestled behind the counter is a smallish calk board with the daily specials, it's important not to miss because these options change regularly and I wouldn't want you to miss anything!! Sometimes I will order a daily special sandwich because I know they might not have it again. Also, make sure you try the "tea bar" where they have unsweetened raspberry tea, sweet peach tea, regular sweet tea, and water. I mix the sweet peach and Unsweet raspberry, very good. Every time I have gone recently they have mixed up the order in a small way (but they were also extremely busy) and the mix ups were easy fixes. If you're out enjoying the farmers market in Summerville on a Saturday morning, or just strolling through flowertown, make it a point to stop here for lunch. You will be so happy you did! read more

The Eclectic Chef hides in the humble alley off of Little Main in Summerville. Walking down the brick road you would almost miss the restaurant as it hides behind scattered coke umbrella tables laying outside. A subtle smell wafts through Little Main leading you by your nose through their humble doors. The restaurant is small, humble, and quaint, fully encompassing the culture of Summerville in a single building. The food that called out to me from the menu today was their Grilled Cheese and Bacon Sandwhich. At home this would be a slice of craft, two slices white bread, and some microwave bacon. Here the grilled cheese is an art form matched with the science needed to ruin all other grilled cheese. Brie served with texas toast with parmesan crust. Thick and neither crispy nor chewy bacon packed inside of it with tomato, all managing to have the same texture so every bite guarantees a taste of each element to the sandwich. Our Guest for the day, Laura Rayl with All About Seniors, had their French Dip that was equally amazing- the texture was consistent, the taste unique. The desserts were lemon cake and banana bread with chocolate and peanut butter (of course). Both were fantastic, and a wonderful way to end the lunch!Overall The Eclectic Chef's humble appearance COMPLETELY betrays it in the best of ways. By far one of my favorite places for lunch in Summerville. The quality of the food, the variety of options, the location, the decor inside - all screams Summerville to me and frankly, that's awesome. It's tucked in and nestled between a few shops, but don't worry you can't miss it! They also offer outdoor seating on short central, which is amazing for a morning meal. Might be a tad hot for lunch in the summer though ;) Food: always so many good options. Today, I got the Pick 2 Combo of Summer Bleus salad and the Grilled Veggies and Goat cheese sandwich. I love that you get a full sandwich and half a salad for the combo. Fills you up always. The salad was super fresh today, the balsamic dressing complemented it nicely. goat cheese sandwich was really light and had good variety of flavors. The self-serve drink station always has a good variety of iced teas (sweet, unsweet, flavored, and different blends) as well as a Coke machine. Something for everyone. Don't forget to ask for the quiche of the day - I didn't get that today but it's one thing they're proud of here. Service: always helpful, friendly, and eager to help you out. Atmosphere: if you like classic rock, this is the place for you - the radio is always cranking classic rock; it's something I always expect now - somedays im not for it, others I am. Why did it take me so long to come eat here?! Better late than never but I highly recommend you come try this place ASAP. Yes it's small but there is plenty of seating if you consider the outdoor seating in the alley. A wonderful backdrop as you enjoy your meal as well. The menu has plenty to chose from but your best deal is the pick two. Any sandwich and salad for just $10. I've only been twice so far and each time got the turkey, brie, bacon, and apple sandwich on rye with the eclectic house salad. The food is great and the portions are also. I also love their tea bar, especially since it's in Summerville. The peach tea mixed with the raspberry tea is the only way I go. I will say that the only hiccup I've experienced is that each time we've ordered, our order got mixed up in someway. First visit, my rye bread ended up on my husbands sandwich and the second visit, my salad ended up on my husband plate and his on mine.
