I love five guys and this place just hits! They do take a bit to prepare your order so just be patient. However it's worth the wait because the portions are massive. The fries are always overflowing and the seasoning for the Cajun fries is so tasty. Even the regular ones taste great. Other places tend to keep reusing rancid oils, which you can taste right away, but not at Five Guys. Also their shakes are so yummy and thick. The store is decently sized and they keep it clean. They have all the self-serve dispensers for sketching and fixings plus extra seasoning packages. Love that. One of my go to lunch spots. The small burger meal deal is the best! The burgers have a large selection of toppings you can choose from, the Cajun fries are always plentiful and delicious, and they have those freestyle Coca Cola fountains to choose fun drink flavors from. I like the whole peanuts as you wait for your food. As far as the food goes, the burger was mediocre at best, I really was expecting a much better, tastier and sturdier burger. I actually used GrubHub to order from here, but I must say the quality of the burger was amazing. It was nice and juicy and prepared quite nicely. The fries were a bit soggy, but they were OK. They tasted great. My only complaint would be they didn't put enough of the grilled mushrooms or onions on there that I wanted, but other than that, everything was fine. read more

Recently stopped by 5 guys on Carmenita Rd for a quick burger and fries. Placed my order and was told my price! 20.74! Wow! I asked the guy behind the counter "how much?" He repeated and I said wow, okay and handed over my money. He then said we don't have combos! Okay that's still a lot of money for a burger and fries but let's see what we are paying for? Service- not exactly girl behind the counter was rude and seems to prefer not helping customers. Quality- not that either receipt clearly says no tomatoes and yet as you can see got some of those anyways. Top it all off the receipt offers a survey to review the experience but even that does not work so I share here. I understand business is challenged but rather than attracting customers they seem to be driving them away with overpriced food, unhappy employees, and overall poor experience. This place surpassed my expectations. We initially went to in n out but once we say the line of 20+ cars decided to go to 5 Guys across the street instead. This was my first time eating at one of these establishments and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. The fries were made fresh, the vanilla shake was absolutely delicious and the burger was extremely delicious. The only complaint I could give at all was that the bread was soggy by the time I got home but that did not take away from the flavor. The staff was very friendly, polite and helped each other since there were only a few employees at the time. I would girly recommend this location. Ok, I am not sure why this place is receiving three stars when it should be five stars for the food that they make fresh, daily. This was my first experience at this location after watching a documentary on how they prepare their fries, that my husband showed me. Let's just say both of us agreed on how delicious the burgers were prepared I got the Workz bacon cheese burger without onions and my husband got the bacon burger with grilled onions and tomato. We both asked for regular fries and received almost a bag full of fries that were so delicious, we were definitely disappointed we could not finish them. It is a bit pricey but you will definitely not be disappointed for both of our meals we paid $33. Again it was totally worth it and we will be back. Five Guys is a more home feel burger joint. It's not as heavy as other places leaving you feel crazy full. It's like a backyard burger to me. It's very good, but way too pricey. It has lots of toppings to choose to to customize your burger. The Cajun fries have a little kick to them and taste good, but only the first few for me. The regular fries were okay. They have a barrel of peanuts that you can grab a little plate to go or sit at the table and snack on. They have the fountain drink with all the different types of drinks to choose like coke, coke zero, and so on. I don't come here often mainly because it is pricey and I feel like I could make the same burger at home. The customer service is also just okay. From what I have had in the north east from these folks, I would usually go 4 or 5 stars, but not today good sir, not today! I walked in and grabbed my free peanuts and waited about 5 minutes to order. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger (which by the way technically is a double bacon cheeseburger) with about 6 of the 16 different toppings they offer. Also, a med. fry and a drink. The burger was VERY sloppy (see attached photo) and just dripping with grease... The fires were nice and hot, but overcooked and over salted. PROS: Big portions (if that's what your into), topping options, flavorful, friendly service, hot food. CONS: Big portions (didn't finish because I felt sick), very very messy burger, rather expensive (about 13$ for everything), grease CITY, long wait time and the restaurant itself was messy with peanut shells on the floor and tables. I don't know what it is but I think Whittier residents and workers are just much happier than many other places that I go and eat at. I came to this Five Guys because I noticed that it was new and pretty much wanted to check it out. Came in and it was a pretty long line. But I noticed that the orders were taken quickly and they were making the burgers super fast. What I loved about this was the happiness that all the workers from the cashier to the person grabbing the fries were just in such a good mood. They seemed like they won in life and it gave me a great mood booster! Sometimes it just takes a little bit of effort that makes it all worth your trip and I believe that is why I had an awesome time! Even a worker on break was talking to us and just asking us how our weekend was going. I order a single patty burger with mushrooms, tomatoes, lettuce and grilled onions. Yum everything was lovely and I also just love the fast service for our food! They were on a mission to serve everyone!! Although there is an In-n-Out burger right across the street from this particular location, my review will be unbiased. I enjoy a good burger and value each burger joint for their unique take and taste on burgers. Five Guys is intriguing because they have many toppings to choose from, grilled mushrooms please. A1 sauce? Hot sauce? Bacon? Bell pepper? Check. All your regular toppings are there as well, lettuce tomatoes pickles etc. There are more as well. Each burger is a little less than 5 dollars no matter how many toppings you add, unless you get the double, then it will be above $5. The meat patty is thick, way more so than at In n Out, and frankly has a great taste. They wrap it in a foil and mine was perfectly put together once I unwrapped it, although I will admit I didn't get every topping on it at once...If you do, be weary that it might be a mess, especially if you ask for more than one sauce. The fries were great, thick cut...crispy and perfectly cooked. They offer the seasoned fries (which my nieces ordered) so I tried them and I'll say these were a little over seasoned and the seasoning is what you would expect, not great and not bland. I didn't like that the fries come served in a cup and were thrown out of it and into the bottom of the bag. I had to dig through them to get the burgers out. Tsk tsk. Cleanliness; A few tables outside and inside were dirty. Fries were still on them from whoever was eating there before. Knock one star. The bathroom was very clean though. All of the ketchup dispensers worked and were clean, same for the napkin dispensers. Clean your tables PROMPTLY after a table is liberated, especially if your staff is not immediately busy. Price, not bad. I fed my three nieces and myself (all single patties) for just under $40. That was 4 drinks, 4 burgers, and 1 order of Large fries (I tend to stay away from the fries, anywhere). The fries were more than enough for them three and me nibbling at them. Overall I'd say it's a great burger. Especially since they have a wide range of toppings. It's definitely a "home cooked" burger flavor and sometimes, that's what I'm in the mood for. They have a burger for everyone depending on what flavor you're in the mood for, and they also have hot dogs. The complimentary all - you - can - eat peanuts are a plus. Yes, they offer free peanuts! My nieces really liked that. Go in there with the "I'm here for a burger" and not the "this is supposed to be better than in n out" attitude and you'll be pleased. read more

We both ordered the standard burger (which is really a double, the single patties are referred to as "jr") I got mine with the standard lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, got two drinks, and shared a fry as they are huge. The burger was actually really good, better than I remember it. It has that homemade feel to it as they hand form the patties, it taste homemade too--in a good way. But it's the fries that'll really have you sayin' DAMN DAMN DAMN. It was overall good, the place was kind of full but not too full to find a place to sit. The burger was really good too. It's nice to finally have a Five Guys restaurant that I can go to during my lunch break, and it isn't as far as the Cerritos chain. This Five Guys is obviously pretty confident about itself, opening it across the street from In-N-Out, and I can see many people still coming in even during my 3rd trip to this place. Well, the best thing about Five Guys is definitely its burgers. You can select either the regular or the mini size (for less $), and the best part is you can pick what toppings and sauce you want in your burger, free of charge. Want A-1 sauce on top of onions and tomatos? Done. How about green pepper and jalepanos with ketchup? No problem. Additionally, the menu is pretty expansive, with veggie burgers, hot dogs, and two types of fries for you to order. More choices is always a good thing imo. Now the bad part about Five Guys is their price. I understand that you can try to go cheap(er), with mini burger, but if you want fries and drinks you'll probably pay at least $8 or so ($10 if you want regular burger). Now granted, they give you free peanuts to munch on, but compared to In-N-Out you will have to shell out more money. When their competition is only across the street, you can't help but make this kind of comparison. I'd recommend Five Guys and it (along with In-N-Out and The Habit) are the best burger places in So. Cal. But as of now I think In-N-Out still is the king of burger restaurant, and the rest are playing catch up. read more

I did a mobile order for 3 burgers and 2 fries. The burgers were not what we asked for (it had extra stuff) I checked the order and it was a mistake on their end. The large fries the cup was half way full for both. I didn't realize until I got home, for the price and to only get half of what I paid is a huge disappointment. I called to speak to the manager who questioned "aré there fries in the bag?" No sir there were no fries in the bag and the cup is only half way full. I'm here to settle the argument between Five Guys and In and Out. I've been to Five Guys three times in the last three weeks (Gout be damned) and I can confidently say- I don't care. They are both good and both have things they do better than the other. The fries are better at Five Guys. I especially love the fact that they keep a healthy amount of malt vinegar around for those of us who like to drench our fries in it. However, I do love me some animal style fries. The burger at FIve guys is better. The standard burger comes with two patties and a large amount of toppings can be added for free. Say "All the way" and you get ketchup, mustard, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, lettuce, mayo, pickles, and tomatoes. However, I do love me my Double Double animal style. Ok, I can't decide.
