I've been here three times and still don't get it. The place is always packed (which is my measure of a restaurant's quality) but the food is barely 'so-so'. You can order burgers or hamburgers or grilled ground meat patties served on a bun. For even more variety you get to choose one or two patties. And a wide variety of toppings. But watch out for fries - the serving size is huge - more than sufficient for three or more adults! What puzzled me most is that the food tastes like what I can conjure up at home. As a former employee for five guys company was kinda disappointed. All I got was a plain burger with a milkshake and it took over 10 minutes. They weren't very busy maybe 3 customers in there with me. Tables weren't cleaned definitely hasn't been swept in atleast an hour or longer and tables were messy with COVID going on they should definitely go out in the lobby more often and clean up. read more

Great, clean location (as long as you don't have peanut allergies - free peanuts come with orders and they're always sweeping up the shells), friendly staff, great burgers, and amazing shakes (try blending flavors like banana and salted caramel or peanut butter). Fry orders are huge, so it's best to order a size smaller than you'd order elsewhere. Dining in is always an enjoyable experience, and as for ordering takeout... if you call your order in, when you tell them your name at the counter, shy customers beware, everyone there is going to shout your name. Those up for a little fun, give them a funny name. My family loves Seinfeld, so my mom called in an order for "Jerry" once. I like alotta stuff on my burgers. So when I can get pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, bbq sauce, a1 sauce, ketchup, mustard, jalapenos, green peppers, onions, and 5 other things I can't remember (or any combination of said ingredients) on 2 patties with cheese for around $6, that's a crazy good deal. Walked in before the dinner rush. Three people working and all said hi and very welcoming. Ordered bacon burger with fries and both were cooked to perfection. The bacon was crispy, meat was large and fresh and plenty of good toppings. The fries were cooked well and nice a crispy. Quick service and overall - good prices. I love Five Guys. I defend it all the time against In and Out, that so many people swear by. I typically eat at the one in Oregon City and have even left positive reviews on social media upon every visit. which is why it pains me to leave a negative about the one in West Linn. After ordering, went to use the restroom to wash my hands. the floors were so slippery with grease or oil, that I could hardly keep my legs together to stand up. it was truly "slip sliding away." it was NOT wet floors, but was actually grease, maybe from employees feet while cooking. But after washing my hands, the paper towel dispenser wouldn't work. You could see it was half full, but still wouldn't work. Slid my way to the door with my hands in the air like a surgeon, and asked the young man on the register. He looked perplexed as to what to do, and when I asked for paper towels to dry my hands, he said he didn't have any. Clearly, behind him were paper towels that employees use. I had to actually slide down to the next guy who may have been a manager. He got me some paper towels, but I still didn't see anyone go to the restroom, which definitely was a health hazard waiting for a lawsuit to happen. Then, the one thing I complement Five Guys on is how they throw extra fries into the bag. it happens at all the Five Guys except for this one. There were maybe 5 extra fries, hardly any compared to other Five Guys locations who packed the bag. I will definitely not be going back to the West Linn franchise!!!! read more

This place is incredibly disappointing. They always have 5 people on the line preparing orders but never get online orders ready in a timely manner. I've come in multiple times and had to wait over 20 minutes for my order while other people have come in after me to order in store and have had their orders prepared before mine. I'm confused as to why this continues to happen and their customer service is awful. Not friendly. Not a place I will continue to order from because each time it gets worse and worse. read more

Went to Five Guys on my way to drop off family at PDX airport. I'd heard good things about it but didn't know much else. This location was right off 205 and very easy to find. When we walked in the door I was slightly shocked at their prices, 5 bucks for the regular hamburger? The girl at the counter explained that all the regular burgers come with 2 patties and the smalls come with one. We decided it was worth it to try and got a regular cheese burger and a large fry to share between my husband and I. The peanuts were perfect to sate our hunger while we waited for our food. They were all fresh and perfectly salted on the shell. We only had time to eat one tray before they called our number. We ordered our burger with everything on it plus green peppers and when it arrived it was delicious! Cheesy with sauted onions, mushrooms, and green peppers and it was HUGE! Plenty to share and both of us were full when we left. The fries where not as good unfortunately, they weren't bad but for the price they should have been better. We ended up throwing away 1/4 of them just because they got cold and soggy by the end our meal from sitting in the bottom of the cup. Overall I'll be back, but just for the burger I highly recommend putting everything plus more on it! Don't take your kids here if they eat their burgers plain, they won't appreciate it enough, especially when they'll be happy with the horrible McDonald's cheap burger. Oh and don't plan takeout, stay and eat all the peanuts you want, they are awesome! read more

I placed an order online for pick up, and when my husband brought it home, I saw that one of our milkshakes was missing. So my husband spent another 20 minutes driving there and back to pick up the milkshake, barely getting an acknowledgement from the employees about the mistake. When we finally sat down to eat, we also realized that they only got one out of four burgers right. What a waste of $50 - we won't be rushing back. read more

Sorry Five Guys, you are going to get the short end of this review simply because I have eaten at Little Big Burger so much. And you, my friend, are the same restaurant with not as good food, and similar pricing. The burgers are bigger, but the patties are thin and they do their meat well. You could ask for medium (my preference) but seriously, these patties are so thin that I don't believe it would be possible. The fries are good, but nothing special and everything comes out in a paper bag whether you are staying or going. They do get extra points for having both Mello Yello and caffeine free Diet Coke (for my mom). Not that impressed, only a tiny step above fast food. read more

I first went to Five Guys because of the hype and was less than impressed. Today, I gave it another shot. My feelings haven't changed much. For what it's worth, you do get a pretty good amount of food even if it is a little more expensive than your standard fast food fare (the small fries could easily serve two) but that was probably the biggest selling point of the meal. Other than the onions and the pickles, I felt that everything else in my burger was kind of bland (including the meat, bun, and the sauce). For some reason, everyone compares this to In N' Out Burger of teh fast food world but to me, that's like comparing a Cadillac to a Kia. You can taste the fresh, never-forzen meat at In N' Out...and there's a lot less grease involved too. There are plenty of great local places that serve a better burger for a better price, I'd suggest one of those instead. But if free peanuts, an unlimited soda fountain, and free toppings is what you fancy, then Five Guys will do the job just fine. read more

There's not much to dislike here. I went at 5:30 and there was no line at all to order dinner. The peanuts while you wait are a nice touch. (Though they must take allergies seriously as it says on the box AND the door to not take the peanuts to go.) The beef is never-frozen and the fries are made on site. I really dig the Cajun fries myself. It would be nice they added a chicken burger at some point. I would be ten if not 15 lbs heavier if there was one of these in downtown Ne or Se Portland. read more

Not In&Out, but pretty darn close if you ask me. The burgers are more expensive than In&Out, but all the toppings are free (they have a huge selection). Also, unless you're really hungry or an inside linebacker the "Little" cheeseburger is probably enough. Same goes for the fries...kind of spendy but a Regular can be split between two average people (especially since they seem to make a practice out of throwing an extra scoop of fries into the sack, above and beyond the fry container). So when you factor all this in, it really isn't more expensive than anyplace else unless you're eating like a pig...which is really easy to do at Five Guys. One thing I like is that you can see the whole operation (i.e. people putting together the burgers). Another thing which is cool but really odd for a burger joint is the free peanuts-in-the-shell. It's a burger joint - review the burger you ding dongs. Though it is dumb that they have the place plastered with Washingtonian articles. Just the right sized patty cooked in front of you with perfectly melted cheese, crunchy lettuce and fresh tomatoes (and a ton of other exciting toppings to choose from). This place is just off of I-205 if you are traveling and want to get off, eat and jump back on the freeway. Very good burgers, enormous portions of fries, they fill they size container of fries you ordered and then dump another full scoop of fries in the bag on top of that! They have peanuts in the shell you can eat while you wait (throw the shells on the floor). No alcohol is served here. No drive-thru. FYI the grilled cheese sandwich is served on a hamburger bun, not bread. If you order a "Little Burger" you'll get one patty. If you order a "Burger" you'll get the same size Burger but with 2 patties. read more

The only downside for me is that their place is incredibly loud (as it's usually full) and I prefer to eat there as if I take the burger home it's usually soggy by then. Today was my second visit. You get a COPIOUS serving of fries... so much that it almost seems decadent. Sure, they're GOOD fries, but one, regular order can EASILY serve THREE people, maybe four. As I waited, I watched the cook prepare the burgers on the grill. After frying the patties for a bit, he flipped them and then PRESSED them with this big, flattening tool. As expected, a large amount of juice spewed forth onto the grill. Surprise .... when I got my burger it was DRY as a rock. Who ever thought it was a good idea to squeeze the flavor & moisture out of a burger? This is a common preparation error made by many inexperienced cooks. It sure is going to keep ME from returning. YUK!!! If it weren't for the fries, drink refills & peanuts, meals are a waste here. Maybe I'll give Burgervill another chance. read more

Crowded. Way too much hype. The cheese wasn't melty and tasted like plastic. The regular burger has two patties -- way too much meat for me, so my hubby ended up with a triple after I dismantled my burger and wiped off the gross cheese. The fries were pretty good and the price is OK. Bur for my money, Stanich's in Portland or Burger Basket in Salem are leagues ahead. Oh, and Burger Basket is totally worth the drive! read more

Cheeseburgers will likely be the death of me, and Five Guys will be the pall bearers. Not much on ambience, this place, a little crowdy and with small wooden chairs the like of which I've not sat on since the third grade, but MAN the burgers and fries are great! Watch how many fries you order or you'll damage your posture lugging the sack back to your little table. Also my neck aches after eating here because I have to extend it so far to keep the luscious slippery mass from sliding down my shirt. The fries of course are easier to handle, which is good because you will handle many of them. I'm not kidding, they try to kill you with the things. I give Five Guys four stars only because [A], the tables and chairs are not terribly comfy, and [2], I still loves me my yummy Mike's cheeseburgers, good fries, and cushy booths AND Mike's is a local outfit. That being said, Five Guys is now my very favorite national purveyer of these two faves of mine. Gather a few million of your most muscular gut flora and go. read more

Question: Why does Five Guys still display restaurant review reprints from articles that were published 10+ years ago on the East Coast? (Just sayin) Hasn't anybody published a good magazine or newspaper review of Five Guys in the last 10 years? On to my review: We rolled-in at 8 PM , well after the dinner rush. The place was filthy. Food and debris on the floor (I'm not talking about peanut shells), condiments smeared on the counters, and uncleared tables. If they can't keep the store clean, it makes me wonder about their food-handling practices... Somebody clearly needs to train the West Linn employees. Let's talk about the food; (1) Our burgers were luke-warm. (2) they gave us plain fries instead of cajun fries. (3) they shorted one of the burgers from our order. It's almost laughable. Three out of the last four times I've gone there, they've left out part of my order. Another time, they kept me waiting for 25 minutes when my order had been completed and was sitting in the warming tray over the fryer. They just don't have their act together. I've been to four other Five Guys outlets and never had any of these problems. Finally, the taste of their burgers has gone downhill. I used to think Five Guys was a better burger for less money than the competition (Fuddruckers, Frack Burger, Killer Burger, Blast Burger, Little Big Burger, Stanichs'). Sadly, I have to demote them to a lower tier of burger joints. Still much better than McDonalds, Burger King, etc, but a far cry from the best. I can only hope that Management, or the Franchise owner gets them back on-track. Good luck with that! read more

I heard about 5 guys almost a year ago but had never seen one. Then, one day, there it was, just blocks from my house. It was as though the Burger Gods looked down and smiled upon me. Not since High School has the term "all the way" taken on such meaning. The Large Bacon Cheese Burger ALL THE WAY (all the toppings) is so big they can hardly wrap it. Did I mention the fries. I'm used to ordering a "large" at most places...go easy here...5 Guys Large Fries is more than I can handle after the burger. OK, so that is just me. I have 12 year old twin boys. Picky eaters doesn't begin to describe it. The were skeptical at first...once they took a bite out of one of those burgers, they were sold. With them, the jury is still out on the fries but I notices they seem to be eating more and more of mine even though the don't order their own. I've experienced better quality and cleanliness at other Five Guys locations. This location needs an overhaul....from facilities to staff.

I ordered 2 burger bowls with extra patties and cheese on each. I also ordered burger's and fries for my kids. When I got home they didn't give me the extra patties/cheese which they charge extra for both and they gave me the wrong size fries. To top it off there was a big long hair intertwined in the patty Never going there again! read more

It makes you almost sick just walking in....All the signs about how good they are and the state of disorganization inside! Throughout my fast food eating career, I have learned a thing or two about how to figure out if I really like a place, or if it is all hype. The main tool that I use is a little something called hankerings. Over a given period of time, I can tell how much I like a place by how often I crave the food. Simply put... I'm craving Five Guys right now, and it's rare that I'm NOT craving it. Only complaint here is that it IS a little spendy. You could get 4 or more times as much food at McDonald's across the street, but with Five Guys, it's all about quality. Now don't get me wrong, you will be full when you walk out! Even if you order the regular fry, you will have a tough time finishing the brown bag filled with fries that you'll get. I like the unique atmosphere and feel of this place too. No awkwardness. No ambiguity. Just happy employees, happy customers, good music and a super-clean restaurant. Oh, not to mention that their fountain drink selection is only rivaled by 7-11! If you haven't been to Five Guys, you owe it to yourself to try it out. And NO, it's not the same as In-N-Out., which I also love, but it is very different. read more
