Came to visit with the family for the day at Washington Park and the wonderful roses at lunch ate at Ate-Oh-Ate, which did not make me happy (read my review on it.) Heading home during the great traffic jam pulled off the freeway and found Wendys. Took a rest here and recuperated from the driving the food was good and the orders were done properly, place was clean, and the staff attentive and friendly. Wendy's chain is the only one I have had not screw up and order...my stomach cannot tolerate onions, so my burgers are without onions. I used the bathroom and some how my phone jumped out of holster. On the way we back we noticed I did not have my phone. The next day called Wendy's and Miguel the manager and staffed had retrieved it and safeguarded it for me, until I sent mailers for them to send it to me and they did. read more

How do you have a line going around the restaurant at 12:30 am and not tell me when I get up to the window at least an, "it'll be a moment" nothing complete silence from the people inside. I drive up the window and they have it covered with cardboard. I'm only picking up an Uber order I'm not even gonna eat anything from here. You guys need to do better. Update: they were closed AND TOLD NO ONE. The two hispanic conworkers came out and then decided to tell me that they closed after waiting for more than 30 minutes on an order that isn't going to pay me now. One of the co workers was young and the other was a bit of a larger build but not athletic. This is extremely unprofessional and many other people were also upset which they had every right to be. Now I am just mad about it... I was never a big Wendy's person. I then had a partner who was mega into them. I discovered that some of the food was pretty good. Chocolate frosty was really the turning point. Getting older and I just cannot be eating a lot of fast food but, I do love a gimmick. They came out with the triple berry frosty and wow does that sound and look amazing! I am not a normal human as far as schedules go and I do most of my things later. So I started trying to get a frosty and figured they close most places at midnight and I discovered that most of the locations now shut their frosty machines down at 9 or earlier when they do not close till midnight. Honestly that alone makes me not a fan since I am one of the folks who will probably only come to you for some iced cream dessert thing. I get that you only can order breakfast stuff during your breakfast hours. I just feel like when you have something on your menu and are open then shutting down your ability to create that menu is a bit annoying. Ok, vent mode on that off... I happened to be going into rush hour traffic and was driving by Wendy's. Oh, perfect time for a frosty right? I can put it in the cup holder and 'cool' down while dealing with bs traffic. It was a VERY good plan IF the triple berry frosty did not taste like plastic with some fruitish flavor... It was not good. Can you imagine how disappointed I was? I am glad I tried it and I guess this just really pushes me to not even bother with fast food. We go there for that fast or super late need for something we did not cook and it is cheap. The customer service is great! And the employees are nice, however, the Free Style Coke machine was absolutely swimming in ants. The machine was all dirty and sticky and the ants were crawling on the ice dispenser and I was concerned an ant was gonna crawl into my drink. It made me not even want to drink my soda. I ordered the biggie bag and the burger and chicken nuggets were okay but the fries were freezing cold. I know not to expect much as it is a fast food establishment but it made me not want to finish both my drink nor my fries. We have ordered the maple bacon breakfast croissants and seasoned potatoes for years, since they first came out. Today, our order was horrible & we won't order again. The "croissant" was a dried out type of bun, the chicken patty was very dry & the bacon too, & the seasoned fries used to be uniform size and somewhat thick, today's were horrible and NOT seasoned. The entire order was cold yet we live just minutes from Wendy's. Worst of all is that in order to lodge a complaint online, they require the store # that is only available on your receipt except they did not give us a receipt. I'm going to try and not let poor service taint this review of Wendy's new burger..but.... We were out tooling around last night, didn't feel like going to the grocery or cooking, so we were in a mood to grab some fast food to take home. Regular readers know that Mrs. Burgerdogboy is not a "burger girl", but she suggested we grab one, and we did have some coupons in the car. Her caveat: she would only go to a drive-thru (Ok, we were wearing pajamas, so that's somewhat understandable, tho we have eaten in restaurants in our PJs before......guess it depends which ones we (I) have on as to whether or not she thinks it's a good idea!) Into Wendy's, our coupons called for one free cheeseburger with the purchase of fries and drink. Seemed like a bargain until we tried to order. Neither of us have a single bone of prejudice in our bodies, but we had a really difficult time ordering from the window person who apparently couldn't call English her native tongue. We thought we had accomplished the order until we got to the window, when it not only became apparent our order had not been taken correctly, but that it was taking several (OK, five) non-English native speakers to sort this simple order out. It finally happened, and off we flew. First off, I have had Wendy's "new" fries before, and previously thought they were pretty OK. I commented at the time that I thought they would be best served right from the fryer, and my opinion on that fact hasn't changed. Last nite's order was a) undercooked, and b) suffering from heat-lamp-itis. Fail. The new burger? I've previously tweeted that a number of other bloggers said it was "worth a try," but I don't agree. I don't really notice any difference in taste from the previous burgers, which, by their own admission, they had not changed in decades. New "butter toasted bun?" Nothing thrilling here folks. The marketing folks at the Wendy's machine crow about the condiments, "premium toppings", "fresh leaf lettuce", "hand-sliced tomatoes", "crinkle cut pickles", and "sweet red onions." One of the things I always liked about Wendy's was ordering a burger for whatever condiment mood I was in personally: "onions and mustard only", "double pickles" or whatever. Apparently the late Dave wants to give me new choice with the "Hot and Juicy." It came loaded up with these toppings and they didn't do a thing for me. To make matters worse for my own taste buds, few things I like more on this planet than good dill pickles. Apparently Wendy's decided dill wasn't the way to go, these are more reminiscent of bread and butter pickles. Did you research what percentage of pickles sold in the US are the bread and butter variety? In the minority I would guess. Adding this flavor to a burger blends sweet and savory, usually an awkward kinda thing, as it is here. As the burger in a bag was handed to us the nanosecond we hit the #2 window, obviously it was not "cooked to order." Juicy? Nah. So, a bad experience all around. Except for the price with the coupon, as two people ate for less than $4.00. Will I be back? Nah. I gave up on Wendy's years ago, they had a chance to win me back, didn't. Sorry, Dave. Wendy's is a successful global chain, so I feel no remorse for what I am about to say in this review as I will not hold back any detail nor sugar coat any gripe. My experience was so horrendous I don't know if I'll go to a Wendy's again because the association to the experience will most likely trigger unbridled rage into every bit of my being. It's just before 1:30 AM, I just got off an 8.5 hour shift with no break or room to snack. So, before my drive home I decide to place an order on the Wendy's app (starving). My order goes through and I head there. It takes me 10 minutes to arrive, I get to the drive-thru, the app registers that I've arrived and says that my food was being made. However, the line was long and moving slow. Regardless, I've paid, the foods being made, should be no problem. I got to the speaker right at 2:00 just to confirm with the person that I'm here to pick up an order and all I hear back is "WE'RE CLOSED". Still, orders already way ahead of schedule, I can just pick it up right...Apparently, wrong. I get to the window and say "I have an order for pick-up" - they completely ignore me (oh and I can visibly see my exact drink is near the drink machine and my food was sitting under the warmer). I say again "I'm here to pick up my food - ignored. I see them closing, walking around the store, smirking at me and shooing me away like I'm some drifter begging for fries off the ground. Finally, a response, the larger fellow with a beard comes up to the window, snaps at me and says "we're closed" I say, "I paid way ahead of time, my food is right there" - I'm cut off as he say's "WE'RE CLOSED". His only rebuttal other than being completely terrible to me was "The app doesn't accept orders after 1:30 and it shouldn't go through". What can I even do at this point? Nothing. I drive off, get a refund and write to the customer service chat box on the app. Which it states - "There is no cut off time for placing orders". So not only was the entire staff ruthlessly unkind and inconsiderate, they straight up LIED to my face to get out of simply handing me my order. I pride myself on being kind, I have worked both in fast food, and waiting tables. What I went through and witnessed last night is nothing short of nasty, spiteful inhuman treatment toward a patient, paying customer. This was a team effort as well, it only took one person with a sliver of compassion and effort to grab my prepared food, walk over to the window and simply hand it to me. So with that said, I didn't get names but I have the date and description of the people working. I believe this is justified, despite my unconditional support of people working within customer service. This happened 4/27/24 at 2:00 AM. Like I mentioned, one was a larger man with a beard, another a Mexican lady, and a very tall older man. This is the Wendy's on Barbur Blvd in Portland. I have no message on what should or shouldn't happen here, not that I have say in that. I just wanted to lay out the facts about how I was treated at this establishment and move on. It's been awhile since I've had Wendy's or late night burgers in general. Probably around a year, it's Portland, there are too many better options out there. I stopped in because the website was advertising a new frosty sundae, which apparently this store discontinued, so... I decided since I was already there just to grab a baconator. I mean, with a name like that, it has to be good. It isn't. I remembered pretty much immediately that you get what you pay for (actually it was around $6. not exactly inexpensive for a fast food burger in comparison to others.) I have low expectations for fast food. Really, I guess, realistic. This didn't even live up to those. Lukewarm, I expected and received. Bacon akin to rubber and impossible to actually chew, yep. They nailed it. Cheese that was somehow melted and also solid, check. Thing is, and without this thing I wouldn't bother with a review: I ordered *one* thing. One burger. With no mayo. Then I double checked with the employee "no mayo, ok?" "Yep, no problem" can you guess what the whole thing was completely saturated in? Mayo. Now, not to judge... but a burger with bacon, cheese, and ground beef .. well mayo is just a weird insult to your body. It's an odd choice in general, but since I personally cant stand the stuff it's my default whenever I order anything that might have it to request none of it. Which of course, was utterly ignored. Just about two tablespoons of hot (somehow hotter than the actual meat - of mayo with rubberized bacon floating in it) Yea. It went in the garbage. Money wasted. They're always rude and only care about "hanging out" with their friends. I would say go find a different job if it's really that hard to work when you need to. They don't have a manager on duty. Best drive through service for a fast food place. They get the order right 99% of the time and for a drive thought not to screw up your order that's great. Both the chicken and hamburgers are good at Wendy's and the fries are better than most. For a lighter meal the salads are also tasty and are good in the summer when it gets warm out and you don't feel like a hot meal. Chocolate shakes are good too but not sure what they are made out of. As soon as you pull up to the window from ordering through the drive-thru speaker literally your order is ready and in a bag....that's 2 seconds flat! How can that be scientifically possible? Well if you like cold food that has probably been sitting under a heat lamp that's why; and then by all means visit this Wendy's location. Oh yea and they usually always get something wrong on your order so check the contents of the bag before you even leave the window...don't do like I did a couple of times and wait to check until you get home. I was in the mood to try out the new Pretzel bun burger. I ordered the Pretzel Bacon cheeseburger combo. The pretzel bun looked a bit dark, and black on the bottom. Luckily it didn't taste like burnt toast. The burger actually tasted pretty good. I also ordered a small chili. I love Wendy's chili, and it is the reason I ever go there in the first place. The chili was fresh, and delicious. The eating area was clean, and inviting. Today was a pretty warm day, and the restaurant was pretty toasty.
