We decided to try out Ground Breaker Brewing as they specialize in gluten free beers. They're across the street from Alter Ego Cider. We dropped in on a slow Friday afternoon (around 3:45pm). Go up to the bar to order drinks but you order food (and pay) on your phone. 9 gluten free beers on tap. Prices were $2.00 USD (4oz) to $6.50 USD (12oz). They also serve Salvadorean food, Salvi, out of their kitchen. - Flight ($8.00 USD for 4) - dark ale on nitro, Portland to Perth pils, olallie ale and amber lager. None of the beer flavours stood out. Basic, light, one dimensional notes. Doesn't beat the gluten free beers we've had at Heathen's Brewing (in Calgary). - Pupusita ($3.75 USD) - they had a buy one, get one free deal when we went. We opted for the I Dream of Cheese: Queso (cheese and bell pepper) and Salvi OG: Chicharron con queso (pork and cheese). It came with salsa (smooth, nicely balanced) and curtido (bland). Average beers at GBB.

Ah, another gluten free brewery here in Portland! I have to say that I do like going to these gluten free breweries as the beer doesn't feel so weighted on my stomach sometimes. Portland breweries definitely does their gluten beer well and Ground Breaker is no exception. For this brewery I got their Dark Ale on Nitro. It was excellent with it's dark, smooth and yeasty complexity but at the same time was light once it all went down. I bought one of their IPA'S that was in the can and took home for Steve to try. That one was good too but my favorite was that Nitro Dark Ale.

Loved the service and was amazed by the place being 100% GLUTEN FREE, what a great vacation find!!! My friends got the beer sampler but were not wowed by the beer; they ended up only liking the one they thought that they wouldn't like, and they didn't finish the others. We ordered these interesting round meat-filled sandwiches, and ended up living off them for a few days on our road trip, the portions were so generous! (I think they were called Pupusas, but I might be mistaken.) Extremely enjoyable. Our waitress was really great and very happy.

Seasonal Spring brew, Carrot Cake Cream Ale, brewed with purple carrots to give it that lovely hue. So good!

Hooray for an all gluten-free brewery! And the separate group providing their food, SalviPDX, I'd all gluten-free too (I'll post a separate review for the food vendor). They have decent variety of different types of beers to choose from and the few we had were all quite good. I especially enjoyed their seasonal Spring brew, Carrot Cake Cream Ale. The guy working the taps was very nice, too, and was happy to answer questions or provide a sample. The place is on the small side, but a good vibe with great tunes playing. Their patio is a handful of picnic tables out front on the sidewalk. Street parking was easy to find in the semi-industrial area where they're located.

A fully gluten free brewery- what a treat! With celiac, I rarely have a choice of beers. It was so fun to try an IPA and a saison! Loved the pale lager too. Low key, friendly staff. My not gluten free husband thought the beers were good too!

View on the picnic table outside.

Woah! IPA gluten free!?! It tastes amazing! Smooth with a wonderful flavor profile. If you are looking looking good tasting brews that don't have any gluten then come here immediately!!

I ordered their tuna salad with sweet onion dressing, as well as their mango smoothie. I am STILL thinking about the salad!!! It was so fresh, the dressing was to die for soo flavorful. The smoothie was also super refreshing to wash it all down! I can't wait to stop by once more after my monthly skincare appointments across the street, it'll bet favorite treat to look forward to

While a few things stood out, the meal as a whole didn't quite hit the high marks I was hoping for. Here is how it broke down: The Starters (The Highlight): Karaage (Fried Chicken): This was easily the best part of the meal. The pieces were large, juicy, and had a great, ultra-crispy crunch on the outside. Takoyaki: Decent texture and well-presented on a long plate with plenty of bonito flakes, making it a solid appetizer to share. The Mains (A Bit Average): Spicy Ramen: The noodles had a good chew, but the broth lacked the deep, rich complexity you expect from a really stellar ramen. Even with the spicy paste mixed in, the flavor profile felt a bit flat. Chashu Don (Rice Bowl): While it was a generous portion packed with chopped chashu and minced meat, it ended up tasting a bit monotone after a few bites and could have used more balance or a punchier sauce. Overall, it's a fine spot if you want a quick, filling meal, but the flavors didn't quite wow me enough to make it a standout. Solid, but nothing mind-blowing.

Dearest gentle readers,…read more A most scandalous correction must be issued how careless of me. The establishment in question is none other than the divine Grassa, a name that now rolls off the tongue with the same richness as its most indulgent fare. And oh, what fare it is. Here, along the lively stretch of Portland, one may witness noodles brought to life before their very eyes fresh, authentic, and handled with a confidence that borders on audacity. These delicate strands are then enrobed in a mac and cheese so decadently composed, so brazenly elevated, that it dares to redefine comfort itself. And just when one believes it cannot be improved enter the pig belly. Crisp, tender, and unapologetically rich... a finishing touch that transforms the dish into something whispered about in only the most exclusive of circles. Yes, dear reader, this is the sort of indulgence that lingers long after the final bite... the kind that ruins lesser versions without remorse. And so, with that final truth properly set, I take my leave once more. The tales of this fair city draw to a close, but not without leaving behind a most delicious legacy.
