a hamburger wrapped in aluminum foil

Mcdonald's does better. This isn't the first time the burgers look like this either. It's very evident the people there do not care about quality at all.

The Big Burger with bacon and about 1/100th of the fries we received with the meal.

So I have been reading about this place throughout all of Yelpdom and being dizzy with the across the board reviews from good to bad. I knew I had to try it for myself and had been meaning to for a while but today an opportunity opened up to try them and myself and a co-worker did. I was prepared for the sticker shock, I was prepared for the Mohammed Ali levels of self hype plastered throughout the restaurant, I was ready to see if it really was the In N Out of the east (although I know they make no claims about being an In N Out knock-off, I am talking cult following). In we went to a moderate little line that moved very quickly, about 5ive people in front of us. It was welcomed as it gave me time to scan the menu, which you'd think wouldn't take long since they serve about five things, really, but it was nice to plan out my toppings ahead of time and munch on a few peanuts. I'm used to the peanut thing because of a wonderful restaurant in So Cal called Northwoods Inn, so that was actually a nice touch. I ordered a big burger with bacon, cheese, bbq sauce, mayo, lettuce and pickle, large fries (5ive Guys Style) and a large drink. Co-worker, who was doing me a favor at lunch ordered his lunch as well and then I forked over my first born Tax Deduction and mortgaged my house to pay for it. Ok, maybe it wasn't that expensive but I am by nature cheap (i.e. Jewish) so $10 each for lunch takes a little getting used to. We went to get drinks and it was a nice surprise to see a truly vast selection of drink options. One of my pet peeves is that fast food chains really can afford to offer more variety, especially of diet type drinks. Before long they called our number and I was handed a big brown paper bag, I was about to mention that we wanted to eat it here, but I remembered shortly before making a fool of myself that everything comes in a brown paper bag. We ordered a small and a large fry, and that bag was bloody full of potatoes! There was a big styrofoam cup and a small styrofoam cup (way to go green 5ive Guys!) filled with sliced potato goodness and then whole bottom of the bag was covered in them. Nice. The burger was actually quite excellent. Quality ingredients, cooked well and assembled by a real thinking person instead of looking like someone closed my burger box and shook it in a paint mixer like at some chains. The fries are everything they were cracked up to be too. I guess every now and then, as a treat, I would come back here and fork over the greenbacks to eat their food, it was that good. Now it won't stand up against a good bar burger like at Slow Bar, but that's not what this place is all about. I can't give them 5ive stars, but I can say that I am a fan.

They get an extra star for (finally) serving milkshakes. Yay! Since my original review in 2009, this became one son's favorite burger spot in town, so we've become relatively frequent visitors. But, it still isn't my happy place. On our most recent visit my other son wore his In-N-Out t-shirt as his goofy form of protest. He may take after his mother.

That's about 1/4 of the fries you get.

Food took 3 times longer than it said it would and wasn't as fresh as normal five guys. Would be better off driving to a different location.

Victorico's Mexican Food - Sunnyside

The suburbs…read morehave been a sore spot for any late night activity, let alone gringo Mexican food with a drive-thru. For years I've longed for a Muchas Gracias type joint to soak up the late night cravings (#1) , and Victorico's more than does the job. It all starts with their disheveled drive-thru menu (#2), which is actually an impressive array of Mexican comfort foods ranging from burritos to quesadillas to salads. The tacos chilangos ($9.99 for 4) and breakfast burritos are easy to gravitate to, especially the double meat (bacon and ham). Their grande burrito ($11.50) is stuffed with rice, beans, vegetables, guacamole, crema, and one's choice of meat. It is reminiscent of a SF Mission district style burrito, since it's thick and intimidatingly large. (#2) I am also a lover of their carne asada fries ($14), which is a Cali-Mex staple and packed for days. Prices are what I would expect for this part of town and the service was perfectly adequate. I already know I'll be back and exited to try the rest of the menu. (#4) ___________ (#1) Among other things. Poundtown Smashburgers - My Dad's burger

Poundtown Smashburgers

Review: Legit Smashburgers and a Gem of an Atmosphere!…read moreRating: We had a fantastic Saturday night at Poundtown Smashburger! The cart is perfectly situated at the end of the pod near a cozy outdoor heater, which was exactly what we needed for a chilly January evening. As the wife of a "social media burger celebrity," I can confirm these are legit smashburgers. For those who don't know, a proper smashburger isn't just a flat patty; it's a ball of fresh beef smashed once onto a screaming-hot griddle to trigger the Maillard reaction. This creates those signature "lacey" crispy edges and a deep caramelized crust while locking all the juices in the center. Our order was spot on: Double Smash with Bacon and Jalapeño: Perfectly seasoned with that aggressive sear we look for. OG Burgers: At $4.00, these are an absolute steal in 2026. No customizations needed--they are perfect as-is. The Bun: A major standout! It was a soft, locally sourced brioche that held up beautifully to the juicy patties without getting soggy. Beyond the food, the atmosphere at The Beer Library is incredible. The renovation of the old library is stunning--it's modern and cozy with a fantastic selection of brews. It truly feels like a neighborhood gem. All in all, a great experience and great service --we will definitely be back!

It was a little messy to eat so we had to use a fork but thats OK because the flavor was outstanding. The real star of the show were the wild fries. I drive up the window and they have it covered with cardboard. I'm only picking up an Uber order I'm not even gonna eat anything from here. You guys need to do better. Update: they were closed AND TOLD NO ONE. The two hispanic conworkers came out and then decided to tell me that they closed after waiting for more than 30 minutes on an order that isn't going to pay me now. One of the co workers was young and the other was a bit of a larger build but not athletic. This is extremely unprofessional and many other people were also upset which they had every right to be. The window says they're supposed to close at 2 am but I guess that's a lie.

Chocolate frosty was really the turning point. Getting older and I just cannot be eating a lot of fast food but, I do love a gimmick. They came out with the triple berry frosty and wow does that sound and look amazing! I am not a normal human as far as schedules go and I do most of my things later. So I started trying to get a frosty and figured they close most places at midnight and I discovered that most of the locations now shut their frosty machines down at 9 or earlier when they do not close till midnight. Honestly that alone makes me not a fan since I am one of the folks who will probably only come to you for some iced cream dessert thing. I get that you only can order breakfast stuff during your breakfast hours. I just feel like when you have something on your menu and are open then shutting down your ability to create that menu is a bit annoying. Ok, vent mode on that off... I happened to be going into rush hour traffic and was driving by Wendy's. Oh, perfect time for a frosty right? I can put it in the cup holder and 'cool' down while dealing with bs traffic. It was a VERY good plan IF the triple berry frosty did not taste like plastic with some fruitish flavor... It was not good. Can you imagine how disappointed I was? I am glad I tried it and I guess this just really pushes me to not even bother with fast food. We go there for that fast or super late need for something we did not cook and it is cheap. The prices keep going up and they are making zero effort to make even their temporary gimmicks taste good.
