Just under 3 stars. It's an ok lunch! But I've had much tastier burgers elsewhere including at home. Yes they're fresh ingredients but the meat is under seasoned and lacks a bit of char or crust one seeks from a truly amazing burger. Fries are decent but will sog-out very quickly in the paper bag they serve them to you in. Also perhaps I was a bit oblivious but the fries are all fried in PEANUT OIL. There isn't a large obvious sign reminding you of this, and if you or someone in your family has a nut allergy beware! I think this place is average but I won't be running back, I'm just one of the folks who doesn't get the Five Guys hype! read more

The "5 Guys" in Willamette is our go-to place when we want excellent take-out hamburgers and fries! We occasionally eat there if the crowd looks promising for finding "5 Guys" for her! We go about once a month for a burger and beaver fix. Consistently excellent and the service is terrific....as we want our fries without salt we cannot order online so we call in our order. The place was almost deserted when we entered in about 7:00 pm. The service was pleasant but not welcoming. As we were eating there, we went to find a table -- and found the cleanest of the dirty tables at which to eat. They made the burgers in record time and called our number. I hit up this burger joint every once in a while. Since it's right off of 205 and you can order by phone, it can end up being as quick as a drive-thru and so much more delicious. Okay let's begin. Those FRIES. So salty and crisp and made from real, whole potatoes! They give you a scoop in a cup and always a bit extra too. The burgers are fresh and utterly customizable. Toppings are good and numerous. But! The buns are wimpy and because of this, the burger almost always falls apart. And, you're using American cheese? All this work goes into real, fresh ingredients and you melt this terrible "cheesy" plastic on the burger. Do better. You know how! You're doing on all the other ingredients. The Milkshakes. A recent drop-in here for a quick sit down with a friend. We only got a couple of milk shakes and a small order of fries. As is the norm with 5-Guys, our orders were fine. I think these guys make one of the better milk shakes in town (are you listening, Mike's?-they're hard on your tail). And a small order of fries is enough to easily satisfy a small hunger. Can't do five stars because this just isn't a five star establishment. But they certainly rate the four. read more

So I have been reading about this place throughout all of Yelpdom and being dizzy with the across the board reviews from good to bad. I knew I had to try it for myself and had been meaning to for a while but today an opportunity opened up to try them and myself and a co-worker did. I was prepared for the sticker shock, I was prepared for the Mohammed Ali levels of self hype plastered throughout the restaurant, I was ready to see if it really was the In N Out of the east (although I know they make no claims about being an In N Out knock-off, I am talking cult following). In we went to a moderate little line that moved very quickly, about 5ive people in front of us. It was welcomed as it gave me time to scan the menu, which you'd think wouldn't take long since they serve about five things, really, but it was nice to plan out my toppings ahead of time and munch on a few peanuts. I'm used to the peanut thing because of a wonderful restaurant in So Cal called Northwoods Inn, so that was actually a nice touch. I ordered a big burger with bacon, cheese, bbq sauce, mayo, lettuce and pickle, large fries (5ive Guys Style) and a large drink. Co-worker, who was doing me a favor at lunch ordered his lunch as well and then I forked over my first born Tax Deduction and mortgaged my house to pay for it. Ok, maybe it wasn't that expensive but I am by nature cheap (i.e. Jewish) so $10 each for lunch takes a little getting used to. We went to get drinks and it was a nice surprise to see a truly vast selection of drink options. One of my pet peeves is that fast food chains really can afford to offer more variety, especially of diet type drinks. Before long they called our number and I was handed a big brown paper bag, I was about to mention that we wanted to eat it here, but I remembered shortly before making a fool of myself that everything comes in a brown paper bag. We ordered a small and a large fry, and that bag was bloody full of potatoes! There was a big styrofoam cup and a small styrofoam cup (way to go green 5ive Guys!) filled with sliced potato goodness and then whole bottom of the bag was covered in them. Nice. The burger was actually quite excellent. Quality ingredients, cooked well and assembled by a real thinking person instead of looking like someone closed my burger box and shook it in a paint mixer like at some chains. The fries are everything they were cracked up to be too. I guess every now and then, as a treat, I would come back here and fork over the greenbacks to eat their food, it was that good. Now it won't stand up against a good bar burger like at Slow Bar, but that's not what this place is all about. I can't give them 5ive stars, but I can say that I am a fan. read more

Maybe 2.5 stars... Let me start off saying I really miss In N Out. From the outside it kind of looks like a wannabe In N Out (the decor - red & white), so I figured I'd try it. I noticed a few things: 1) Free peanuts while you're waiting. And the fries are cooked in peanut oil. I feel like I was preparing for a PB&J more than a burger and fries. 2) There are way too many people working on making the food for it to take THAT LONG. There were actually SIX guys. Ha! It's an assembly line and with a minimal amount of toppings I would expect it to be a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am kind of situation, but instead I found myself wondering if they just killed the cow. 3) The fries are supposed to be "cajunized" or something. I've lived in Louisiana and had cajun this and cajun that - these fries were not cajun. Just super salty and I couldn't even finish half of the regular. Maybe they should invest in creole ranch and just serve the fries natural and allow you to add your own salt/pepper. 4) Expensive. I do indeed find it to be more costly than I had hoped. 5) The burger itself is pretty great! I ordered the little bacon cheeseburger and it wasn't really little - just perfect. I think they should offer thousand island as a topping and offer different fries/dipping sauce. They were way too much to handle, way too salty and for what I spent I expected more - faster. read more

I REALLY wish people would stop comparing Five Guys to IN-N-OUT. Other then the color scheme and similar menu options they are nothing alike. Five Guys has some nice things about them. Hot dogs, free peanuts, and lots of fixin's for their burgers, but the problem with the extra fixin's is that they aren't of good quality and sloppify your burger. The pickles were down right inedible. Don't even get me started on the thick tasteless and mushy fries... Five Guys isn't bad, but certainly they aren't great. There is no way I will ever make the trek out to West Linn for Five Guys alone. If I'm there in West Linn and craving a burger and happen to drive by, than fine. read more

The In and Out Burger for the northwest. We dropped in here a couple of times now and here's what I know for sure. They put some tasty stuff on their burgers. The basics are more than basic. I have only ever purchased the smallest burger and when the two of us ordered a side of fries the staff suggested there were enough in one order to share. For that, I was grateful as there were plenty on hand for both of us. They have unlimited refills on drinks. At least that's been my experience. And free peanuts for you while you wait. My husband placed an order online for pick up. Drove 20 minutes back home and when we opened it up everything about the order was wrong. Paid for extra patties and cheese and they were cheese less with no extra patties and with half of the condiments we selected. We called to get refunded and they refused to refund us for the entire order and only gave us back $4.70 for the patties and cheese even though everything on the order was wrong. When he went to pick it up everyone behind the counter was just standing around talking obviously not paying attention to anything. We will absolutely never be going here again. Five Guys is ok. Not great. Not awful. But ok. Their meat patties are a bit small. They probably start out as 1/4 lb, but they must be pretty dang fatty because they end up half that size. Their toppings are okay, but nothing particularly memorable. The worst part of the burger is the bun. It is way too flimsy for the burger and breaks into pieces before half the burger is eaten. The fries are okay, but not great. The interiors are really nothing to write home about either. Not awful, but again... repeat after me: not great. For a much more diverse menu and better tasting food, I'd recommend Burgerville. read more

It was almost 2 PM, missed eating lunch and then I saw that highway sign and love Five Guys so I had no choice but to stop and indulge! After driving in nasty, icy and snowy road conditions for 250+ miles from Medford to Oregon City, I needed to eat and better yet it was going to be at Five Guys! I walked in, ordered a little cheeseburger all the way, added jalapenos, waited, waited and waited. The staff was very busy with important chat about speeding tickets, upgrading to their new cell phones and getting tickets for talking on those cell phones while driving. As I stood, watched their gathering in the kitchen and waited, I saw my charred burger patty getting blacker, drier and very ugly as it was flipped 4 or 5 times to a burnt hockey puck state.I got the cooks attention from his group requested the burger to be served to me immediately. I knew it was overcooked and upon my request, the then angry employee informed me that if the patty was not charred and well done he would be fired! Upon hearing that statement and knowing it would not be worth eating anyways, I left immediately, walking out the door without receiving my order that I had previously paid for. Hearing of their cooking policy I will never return to any Five Guys after experiencing this terrible customer service and display of attitude! Save your money. Burger, fries, and a drink set me back $11. Buyer beware, "burger" vs "little burger" is poor wording. "Burger" is two patties, "little burger" is one. Good marketing, because they realize less people would order a "burger" if it were called a "double". (Most people don't care for the added height and meat.) Flavor. They get very poor marks here. Sure, there's "all the fixin's", but there's just not a lot going on for the meat. Everything else should add, complement, and enhance the meat. Unfortunately you just end up with a lot of stuff that doesn't have a lot of flavor. There is no unifying element. Presentation and Quality. They do some disservice to themselves by wrapping in aluminum foil. When you take a hot food item and seal it up, it steams itself. With Five Guys, you end up with a soft ball of bun and meat that doesn't really have any good texture. Not soggy, mind you, but my buns have never been toasted and they just become spongey. They should use a more breathable wrapper, wax paper, or at least a paper lined foil. SpongeBall MeatPack ain't so appealing. The fries are good. Really good. Just not quite good enough to draw me back in to eat just fries, though I've been tempted. Probably a good deal to just go get a drink and large fries. By the way, yes, they give you a very healthy portion of fries. But, by all means, you can't "feed 8 adults" on a regular. I can clear a large and a "burger" no problem. Man up! Why you shouldn't go here. For me, there are three dimensions to the food landscape: Price, Quantity, and Quality. There is some give and take as each dimension goes up or down. Who doesn't love cheap, cardboard pizza served by the palette load? Who's willing to pay through the teeth for a few ounces of quality chocolate? Each dimension is relative and we all have our own criteria of what's acceptable and what's not. Sadly, Five Guys don't fit into any of my acceptable "food landscapes". The price is far too high for the quality, and the serving size of the burger isn't making up any ground. If the prices came down, I'd probably have a more favorable review because they would fit somewhere. But at these prices, Carl's Jr. makes a much tastier and larger burger. Hands down. (I didn't say the "best", because it's all relative to the dimensions.) Sorry to say, anyone who raves about this place needs to get out and try some good burgers. read more

Five Guys franchise has gotten a lot of press lately with the introduction of the Beaverton store a few months ago. I've been anxiously awaiting the West Linn store to open ever since. Walking in on opening day I wasn't sure what to expect beyond the fact that this place ONLY serves burgers, fries, hot dogs, and grilled cheese. Kind of ingenious when you think about it. They pride themselves on using only fresh local ingredients and for that they earned an extra star. However, the fact that they offer free peanuts while you wait for your meal is like ordering an appetizer at McDonald's. I don't understand the point. I counted 16 people behind the counter either taking orders, flipping burgers, preparing the buns, or bagging. So obviously the wait for your burger isn't a long one. For simplicity, let's go with the burger and fries for lunch. You step up to the counter and order one of the following: Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Bacon Burger, or Bacon Cheeseburger. These are all two patty burgers with what I assume are the one patty version offer as "Little". Then the fun ensues. All the toppings for that burger are free: the standard mustard, mayo, ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, onions...but they also offer things like grilled onions or mushrooms, jalapeno peppers, green peppers and A-1, Barbeque or Hot sauce. They offer two sizes of fries in either Five Guys style or Cajun Style. I ordered the smaller size in Cajun. Grabbing my meal and heading back to the office I was a little sticker shocked ($8.68 for the burger and fries - no drink) and figured this had better be a mighty good burger for the money. I guess I'm just cheap like that. The fries were okay. They are freshly cut potatoes and though the cajun spice was alright, there could have been more of it. Perhaps a bit more salt as well. What's the point of eating fries if you're not liking your fingers afterwards. The small size comes in about a 12-oz styrofoam cup and when I lifted it out of the bag, noticed that there was a large amount of loose fries in the bottom. By the time I shook them free, there was at least another 12-oz cup full of fries on the napkins. I can't imagine how many fries you get with the large! The burger was also okay. The bun was a bit soggy by the time I walked the five minutes back to the office. But the taste was decent. The jalapeno peppers really kicked it up a notch but otherwise it was just decent. I don't know that I will come back here. Maybe once they've been open a while and things have settled down. I wouldn't say it was worth the money. After all I can get the $6 Bacon Guacamole burger with fries and a drink at a competitor's place for less money. And the burgers there are killer. read more
