I've had much better biscuits and gravy from my school cafeteria. no seasoning at all, just a flavorless and strange mystery paste on top of prepackaged tube biscuits. Some people may like it that way(old people) just not for me. the ai generated character on the menu is off putting and slightly disturbing to say the least.

Great diner! Pappy himself stopped at the table to say hi. Chicken fried steak steak with eggs and hash browns were excellent. The gravy was tasty but not heavily seasoned. True diner decorations rounded out breakfast nicely

Returning from a Wilsonville errand, got the hankering for a pancake and looked up my Yelp help to divert to Pappy's! It's easy to miss on the 2nd Ave as it's hidden on the side of a white building around the corner from the Jui Jitsu club. Crane your neck after that first building and eyeball the American Flag next to a built-up wall sign, Holly Street MALL that looks like only office names would appear, and it's the first door on the right. Prices can't be beat even with the $2.00 increase on Entrees and $1.00 Sides and lotsa home made goodies like the corned beef hash, pork sausage patties, biscuits, etc and lots to choose from and I overheard Pumpkin Bread is on deck! Menus are laminated so you'll see handwritten signs on the front door and inside to notify you of the price increase. THE GRUB Hubby loved loved his sirloin steak about 12oz just $12.50, rare as ordered with nice char grill marks still, sunny eggs, browns, house biscuit and just can't wait to return! Waitress sold me on the Dog Leg $11.00, 2 house sausage patties and eggs (poached soft one was little clear but didn't have to send back) and opted for red home fries which were well seasoned and grilled, so much so hubby ate many when his fork typically turns away! With English Muffin, it was food overload (winge) to add a $4 pancake that I REALLY wanted but tabled for next trip.. COFFEE $2.00 is not bad, like a Farmers Bros brew, forgot to ask..hot and plentiful and stays hot in the standard mugs they use, yes! Those other common off-white concave ones in many breakfast houses just lose heat way too quickly. DECOR is old school black & white checker floor and red diner Coca Cola all about, and the waitress blends in with her tall beehive! Service is attentive and no nonsense but nice enough :D we'll be back!

This morning my family and I were in the mood for breakfast and didn't want to go to a classic chain restaurant. I ended up finding Pappy's on Yelp and instantly knew that we had to go. From the second you walk in you get a cozy diner and old vintage decor. That right there I knew we found a winner. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food was tasty and those homemade biscuit were AMAZING. I definitely recommend Pappy's and I look forward to going back.

The food matches the restaurant name. Service was good. Pappy, the owner walked the floor and chatted with all of the patrons.

Alton Brown has a quote. "A dish is only as good as its worst ingredient." I ordered the biscuits and gravy. I don't normally order biscuits and gravy because I like a little more variety, but I wasn't super hungry. However I wish I was. I could tell that they gravy was homemade. It was nice and smooth. Perfect consistency. The only thing was that I wanted a little more sausage in it. If that sausage was so special it should have been featured more. Instead the most prevalent flavor was black pepper. The biscuits were pretty awesome. Definitely homemade. Nice and soft. Reminded me of my wife's. I would definitely be back to try some other things. I could see that gravy, peppery as it was, on a chicken fried steak. I saw a plate of onion rings and a patty melt. Oooh I want to try that too. I'll be back Service was excellent. Very accommodating and friendly. I'd return for that alone.

Immaculate atmosphere and the exact sort of thing we were looking for for breakfast. We didn't get her name but saw on the receipt her name might have been Davi, she was such a bundle of light and life, so attentive and kind! She immediately gave us wonderful recommendations which we all adored. The table ordered praline bacon to share (do yourself a favor and get this), one ordered the praline bacon waffle, another ordered the bananas foster waffle, and I got the seasonal vegetable hash. We were all in HEAVEN with what we ordered. From the first bite to the last it we were all absolutely stunned by how delicious and well made everything was. I savored every bite as did my compatriots. One gal ordered a couple things to go for her family (huevos rancheros for the hubby and cinnamon rolls for her kiddos) and our waitress Davi recommended they bring out the cinnamon rolls unfired so that she could pop them in the oven when she got home after a short drive. It was such good attention to detail that felt like such a friendly offer. Absolute superstars, the lot of you. He told me that they would clean off a table for me. WOO HOO. I bursted out crying at the thought that I finally got my seat. As I sat down a soft chair graced my bottom. Beautiful. I looked around and the scenery was beautiful. As I looked at the menu, my eyes sharply turned to the chicken and waffles. Deliciously perfect choice. I ordered my food and got a coffee. My chicken and waffles arrived and I took a bite. I started floating. My soul left my body. I looked down at my body as I floating away, I was enjoying every bite. I reached the heavens. A loud voice said "Its not your time yet. Return and enjoy the rest of your meal." I ascend back to the chair and every chicken and every waffle was gone. The servers were SO kind. I got my check and shead a tear, knowing that was the best meal of my life. Over all from kind servers to and delicious food, SCREEN DOOR was an awesome experience. If you haven't made the…read moretrip to Top Burmese Ambassador on Main Street, you are missing out on one of the most unique and soulful dining experiences in the Portland area. While the original NW 21st location is a classic, the "Ambassador" location in Hillsboro feels like a true elevation of the brand, combining incredible hospitality with a menu that is a masterclass in Burmese flavors. Here is why this spot is an absolute 5-star gem: The Tea Leaf Salad (Laphet Thoke): You cannot visit a Top Burmese location without ordering this. It is the gold standard--fermented tea leaves mixed with crunchy peanuts, toasted sesame, fried garlic, and fresh lime. It's a texture and flavor explosion that is unlike anything else in Southeast Asian cuisine. The Golden Samosas: These are a "super duper" must-order. They are flaky, perfectly spiced, and served with a house-made sauce that provides the perfect tangy kick. If you want something even more comforting, their Samosa Soup is the ultimate rainy-day cure. Standout Mains: The Coconut Noodle Soup (Khao Soi) is incredibly rich and aromatic, with just the right amount of creaminess. For a more savory, hearty option, the Beef Curry with Pan-Toasted Paratha is spectacular--the beef is fork-tender and the paratha is buttery and crisp. The Service: The "Ambassador" name is fitting because the staff truly acts as ambassadors for their culture. They are incredibly patient in explaining the menu to newcomers and make excellent recommendations based on your spice tolerance. Atmosphere: The interior is beautifully designed--vibrant, warm, and upscale without being stuffy. It feels like a "mini-vacation" right in the heart of Hillsboro. Pro Tip: This location is incredibly vegan-friendly (about 70% of the menu can be made plant-based!), so it's the perfect spot for a group with diverse dietary needs. Don't leave without trying the Burma Blue cocktail--it's as beautiful as it is delicious!

The chicken curry with the paratha was very Desi and excellent tasting. The okra had a homemade feel to it. I would've liked a side of paratha with it, rather than rice. The tables were clean and well kept, and the use of "half umbrellas" against the side of a building was a thoughtful touch. We were seated right away, and our drink orders taken right away. Our server did an excellent job, although he apologized for not coming back in time to bring me another Black Butte Porter (which I didn't plan to refill, anyway; even though it was excellent on tap). We placed an order for the "Bavarian Pretzel" appetizer, which was advertised to have a "mustard sauce" with it, and we also paid extra for their "Queso Cheese Dip". The bread itself was quite delicious, but the mustard sauce was just honey mustard salad dressing (disappointing), and the cheese appeared to be melted processed pepper jack cheese. The cheese dip was good with the bread, but we had a lot of dip leftover after the 3 pieces of bread. For a main course, I went with the Spicy Jalapeno Burger, but opted for Crispy Chicken, instead of a hamburger patty. The burger was massive, and consisted of multiple crispy chicken tenders, instead of one large chicken patty -- which is all good, but did make it tricky to eat, as the multiple pieces wanted to slide around. It was very good, but I think I would try the actual burger next time. I chose French fries for my side, and was disappointed that they were "battered" fries, which are not my favorite. The portion was also a little on the skimpy side. I would definitely come back again, even if there are a few small things that keep me from giving top marks.
