The atmosphere was pretty much bar. Tables and floors were dirtier than we expected, with cobwebs in the window, but it was also 3-4pm so a full meal service had passed. Staff was cleaning as they went along. Service was okay. Staff wasnt as welcoming as we felt but our drinks were topped off and we didnt need anything. Menu is a good variety so that was nice having options. We called ahead because we couldn't find the childrens menu and they let us know that they did have one so thats a plus since most establishments dont bother posting their kid's menu. Food was okay. My husband got the ozz sandwhich and it looked good but it was wetter than he anticipated. We learned i like rye bread though, so thats a plus. I ordered the sliders with a side of beer mac but the portion sizes was smaller than I thought it would be? I misread or misinterpreted as hawaiian rolls as in buns but not as in dinner rolls. The beer cheese mac was thick. It was good but had a cloying type of consistency. Tots and fries were good. The kid's chicken tenders and fries were just that. Chicken tenders and fries, so no surprise there. Overall for 2 meals, 1 kids, and 2 sodas, we paid about $60. A bit higher than we guessed for a bar but we enjoy supporting local when we can especially when we know they're active in the community. read more

The vibe feels like a bar when you walk in. There are screens around the place but also pop culture memorabilia on the wall. We came from a track meet so everyone was starving. My husband ordered a burger with Gorgonzola on it. I picked the brisket sandwich. Both of my boys went with a bacon cheeseburger with a side of mac and cheese. My husband and I were hoping for onion rings but they were out so we got the parm garlic fries instead. Most of the food came out looking great. One of my kiddos bacon was pretty overcooked but he ate it anyway. My brisket sandwich was good but a tad overpriced at $20. If you somehow have room for dessert, they also have really good shakes. They have a nice outdoor seating area along with good sized space indoors. Our server was so super friendly. We had to try the bacon wrapped jalapenos which are totally worth it (they use good bacon). The burgers are huge, stacked, messy, and so tasty. Really cool little joint, lots of great food options we got the BBQ platter and it was SO good. The only thing that wasn't a ten was the brisket was a little dry. Not bad, just a little. On the other side of that is the hot link sausage, fantastic! Also the home made Mac salad was to die for. Don't bother with the mild BBQ sauce, it's sweet baby rays. Instead get the spicy, it's homemade in house, with just a little kick and authentic BBQ sauciness. I was looking forward to eating here because who doesn't like a delicious backyard burger. The name of this establishment alone got me in the door, but my expectations fell short. I ordered the classic burger to go which comes with a side. I chose tots. It was after the lunch rush when I picked up my order. Only a couple patrons inside. I approached the bar where a woman and man were standing behind. No greeting. The woman just looked at me and I told her I had a to go order. She turned around, went to the kitchen. Came back and continued to visit with the man who was behind the bar. She put my order in a bag and stapled it all in slow motion as if it wasn't important. She gave me the sealed bag, and I asked her if there were sauces and napkins, which had been ordered in the bag...she replied "No" and went back to the kitchen and got the sauces. I then asked her if I could please have some napkins and she turned around again and walk slowly to go get the napkins and came back. Customer service was a 0. And to top it off while I was waiting, some guy came out of the kitchen with a unlit cigarette in his mouth. When you pull up outside there is a barbecue, which gives the impression that the burgers might be grilled, unfortunately my burger wasn't grilled, it was dry, tasteless and had the wrong type of cheese on it. The condiments consisted of 1 small lettuce leaf, 1 tomato slice and a couple onions. This combo without a drink is $18. They're fountain drinks are $5 so I opted out. When a fast food drive-through burger is better tasting than the one here it's unfortunate. Nothing special here. read more

We were looking to grab something to eat as we made our way south from Portland to the Eugene area. It was slow going because of the cold, snow and ice. There were not many people on the road because of the winter weather so we called to ensure they were open after my wife searched Yelp while I drove. Steve answered the phone when she called Backyard Burger Company. He said they would be open until at least 4pm and later depending on staffing. We decided we would check them out as we drove south on 205 to I-5. They are located about three miles off 205 on Willamette Drive in West Linn. Backyard Burger Company is in a small shopping area and they are on the end of the building closest to Willamette Drive. We parked, walked inside and were immediately greeted by Steve. There was only one other table seated. The place was a little eclectic but warm and welcoming like a neighborhood restaurant / bar. We had a seat at the bar and were provided menus. This gave us the opportunity to chat with Steve and we found out he was the owner. My wife ordered the Asian salad and I ordered Aunt Karen's Bacon Stuffed Burger with the house sauce on the side. We ordered some fries to share to warm us up as well. Our food arrived in a timely manner and looked great. Everything tasted delicious and was just what we needed. This was a great experience and we will definitely stop in again the next time we are in Portland. read more

Ordered the brisket sandwich and mini corn dogs to-go. The fries on the side were tasty but everything else was so underwhelming. The corn dogs were fine, tasted like any other corn dog. But I was extremely disappointed with the brisket sandwich. The meat was a little dry and tasted like it had been boiled, not smoked or grilled. No flavor at all. The bbq sauce was decent enough and I ended up smothering the sandwich to finish it. Out for a Sunday drive, we came across this place as we were heading home. The big "Public House" sign grabbed our attention and drew us in. Coming inside, the place was cute, but gave off more of a sports bar vibe with several TV screens and big open doors the patio. The patio that sits right along the road. The menu was exciting, with several offerings that caught our attention. We settled on the Lumpia appetizer and their bbq sampler plate. First the lumpia. Maybe we didn't read the menu right or something because these were nothing like what I expected. Meat, corn, peas and beans with a vinegar based dipping sauce. Looked like something my teenager would dream up from leftovers. Pretty disappointing. Sadly, the disappointment continued when the bbq arrived. The sample consisted of: 1/2 lb of brisket - apparently their scale was off. We got basically 3 slices of dry, flavorless, fatty meat with the consistency of pot roast. 2 pork ribs. Ok but nothing special. Pulled chicken and pork. You know the little salsa cups you get at the Mexican restaurant? Basically, a tablespoon of each in one of those. Both looked the same. Couldn't tell which was which, but that was ok because they also tasted the same. Just enough to fit on the two expertly toasted (burnt) Hawaiian rolls that accompanied. Whatever. Also on the plate was a helping of garlic fries that McDonald would put to shame and Texas toast, which was more likely a slice of regular bread that was "toasted" to absolutely black. The side salads were the highlight, but it's pretty hard to mess up lettuce in a bowl. The service was also less that we would expect from a place with only one other table. Everything took longer that I would expect, and our sever seemed too busy for us. The bill for all this? 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 2 side salads, a glass of water and a tea? $75!! WTH!! All in all, the experience smacks of a group who is just phoning it in. Definitely won't be back. read more

They have a Great selection of burgers, appetizers, beers, and MILKSHAKES. Any place work a dedicated milkshake menu gets my vote. The milkshake are handmade and you get a tin with it! The fries are bottomless and they are delicious. Overall id def come back. The only thing I would say is the basic backyard burger is meh. Nothing special and getting other burgers are much much better. If Anything get some fries and a shake and you will be golden. PRO TIP: make sure to get a milkshake and if you like Oreo and butterfinger get that as a shake. It won't disappoint. The good. = 1 friendly and helpful server, ample parking & seating, cold beer The bad = the burnt ends, the hamburger (patty itself), 1 very unhelpful bartender/server. The burnt ends were so damned salty I couldn't eat them all. Each bite was a face puckering experience only helped by immediately drinking beer. The beef patty was somehow both dry & tough, yet also medium rare. Not sure how that happens. The 1 unhelpful bartender couldn't be bothered to help me determine what beer I was asking for, until she caught me asking the very helpful one--who definitely was going to help me sort out the menu. The other slid a sampler in front of me and said "you tell me". After the second ask they went ahead and checked the tap. We ordered the Michael and Rowdy Robert burgers and they were GREAT. Fresh and juicy with just the right amount of grease. I would recommend both the tater tots and the garlic Parmesan fries. Yummy! Found a total gem right in town! I had been wanting to try this place, the outside is SO cute, fun patio lights, covered seating outside. We sat inside and the vibe is super chill. On to the important part.... This was hands down the best burger I've had since moving up here!! Juicey, full of flavor, perfect size, perfectly done. Tater tot sides were also bomb! This is an amazing local restaurant I've been going to for a few years. I recently tried their Smoked Brisket for the first time and Holy Tender South in your Mouth!!! It's Fork Tender, Good Bark/Smoke ring and leave that super thin gristle on the bottom, it's like Bone Marrow consistency. Not over smokey or seasoned, you're tasting the flavor of the meat. I am very much a fan of this establishment, and have been coming in since it opened. They always have a nice selection of taps, always offering a nice variety of flavors. Although I come for the food and recommend the burgers, anything out of the smoker, and pretty much every special, and for the friendly servers, the outdoor patio is a strong attraction too. On a nice day, you can easily spend a couple of hours here, at least. I greatly appreciate what Steve and the other partners are providing here. It's a casual, comfy, place with the nightly games showing on the large TVs. We were surprised that there's far more on the menu, and daily specials, than just burgers. When my hubby heard the mention of prime rib dinner all thoughts of a burger were gone. I stuck with my burger mission though. We also tried the lumpia which was great too. The hubby had his prime rib medium rare but I'm a well done type of gal so I asked for both my burger and bacon cooked through and they obliged! Both were perfectly cooked to my liking. The beef is delicious! It's very tasty and not the preformed frozen burger at all! The prime rib, garlic mashed potatoes and steamed veggies were a big hit too. We left stuffed and happy.
