Due to the pandemic there are modified hours and pick up and delivery are available.
    Christine D.

The pandemic has been hard on all of us. I'm just grateful our neighborhood watering hole is still making our tasty treats to go. I've stopped up here a couple of times since the governor's order and found the service prompt and the food spot on. They also have growler fills available. One of the fun things they have added to their menu is fresh donuts and I'm thinking that is something that needs to remain after this temporary closure has passed. Now open 4p to 8p for take out or Grub Hub delivery (closed Sunday-Monday) give them a try for a taste of your favorites foods at home. I'll be back to give them a try again.

Oily and Mayonnaise-y Spinach and Artichoke Dip
    Jen M.

Worst. Food. Ever. Like seriously, no lie. Our dinner was completely inedible. The spinach and artichoke dip was so mayonnaise-y and oily that it remained entirely untouched, and the Chicken Piccata that I ordered (which is normally one of my favorite meals) was so salty, that it tasted like someone had dropped an entire salt shaker on there by mistake (or at least I'm hoping it wasn't intentional), because it was bad, bad, bad. Like so bad, I gave up after 2 or 3 bites and just threw everything into the garbage. A complete waste of money on a Friday night when I was already so hungry I would've eaten just about anything... well, almost. Total disappointment.

Jalapeno Chicken Mac n Cheese. Special of the day.

In summar: YES! As…read moresomeone who frequents plain chain restaurants and has admittedly eaten more frozen taquitos than I care to admit, coming to Canard for. Absolutely lunch was a wonderful change of culinary pace that I am excited to try again soon. This restaurant was recommended to me by some friends I hold as having excellent taste. All they mentioned was French inspired or French fusion, and knowing I haven't been to many of those my wife and I went here without looking at the menu. Looking at the menu, I'll tell you that it was not what I expected so much so that I forgot to take pictures of it because I spent all my time trying to decide what I wanted. I think not looking anything up was probably the best decision I could've made because that led to us choosing some dishes that I think we normally wouldn't have ordered. We tried to steam cheeseburgers, the steak, tartar, garlic, fries, foie gras dumplings, and gnocchi. Also got some specialty drinks. Service was amazing, if I was really nice, did not take too much time at all to get food, and the food itself was special. (Specials is the best word I can use to describe discovering new flavors, my age ) Two thumbs up, will be coming back again, and excited to try everything on the menu! Also, note that they do have some parking in the front of the building so if you're going for lunch, try there first instead of worrying about parking blocks away.

As they're called Canard, there are multiple duck related options on the menu. - Steak tartare: with fried crisps and an interesting bone mayo in the center. It comes with pho accompaniments like lime, spouts, mint, cilantro - Market green salad: with fried quinoa, a pretty big portion - Garlic fries - Steam burgers: 6 for $30: like White Castle meets a McDonald's cheeseburger - Mac n cheese: we got the kids' version, which doesn't have fried onions - Steamed broccoli: the cleanest thing our kids have eaten all week Service was friendly, and food came out pretty quickly. It was a solid lunch and a good excuse to see Beaverton.

We had our little dog with us so I was happy to see they had a dog friendly patio. It was a warm day and the staff immediately brought her out a bowl of water, which was a thoughtful gesture and shows the level of service they offer to their patrons. Our server, I believe her name was Casey, was lovely. She was friendly and seemed to know a lot of the regulars by name which gave the restaurant a welcoming feel. I ordered the Danish pancakes (Æbleskiver), and they were absolutely delicious. They came with house-made lemon curd and lingonberry jam, and both were incredible. The lemon curd was rich and creamy with just the right amount of tartness, while the lingonberry jam added a sweet-tart flavor that paired perfectly with the fluffy pancakes. Four of them were more than enough to fill me up. My husband ordered the Pytt i Panna, a traditional Swedish hash made with crispy potatoes, bell peppers, and onions, topped with two soft-baked eggs and served with pickled beets and Nordic rye toast. It was hearty, comforting, and full of flavor. The pickled beets were a nice contrast to the savory hash, and everything on the plate was scrumptious! Between the delicious food, welcoming service, and dog-friendly patio, we had a very nice time and it was a good send-off before our walk through the woods to find Ole Bolle. I'd happily come back the next time I'm in the area.

We started with the cardamom latte (rich and nutty) and the matcha marzipan (sweet and with enough aromatic almond flavor) and then proceeded to feast. We started with the Danish pancake donuts- lovely in that they were both savory and sweet, comes with lemon curd and jam. The lefse breakfast was really interesting - a layered thicker 'crepe' with cheese and egg. The fish plate was our family favorite - an epic collection of shrimp, mini shrimps, gravlax, pickled herring (our favorite) various breads, crackers and sauces. Very well presented, fun to eat, and enough to share. We also ordered the Swedish meatballs - rich hearty but small and few (5 total). Luckily, we had plenty of other food and this dish was great with sherry mushroom sauce and a delicious potato latke-like side. Our server was also incredibly personable, friendly, and helpful in our food choices which we always appreciate.

Bastion definitely is part of what makes Portland's gluten free scene great! The location is in a beautiful small neighborhood in the city. Bastion sits among some small businesses and has the feel of a cozy business in a house. My absolute favorite thing about Bastion was their fried chicken. It was crispy and delicious. Often times gluten free items lack a bit of substance when it comes to how it feels, but the nice meaty chicken pieces really helped offset that in the case of the chicken sandwich. It was fulfilling to eat and would do a great job filling up anyone who is hungry. My wife went with the waffles and they were great. They were presented beautifully with a gorgeous flower garnish. If you want a nice IG picture, well, here you go! To wash it all down I tried their mango smoothie. And this thing was smooooooof. This was one of THE BEST smoothies I've had in a while and I would drive back up from Sacramento just to get this again. We loved our experience at Bastion and am sad to leave!

It was good but definitely overpriced for what it is. You can tell the bagel is not a normal bagel, I think it was gluten free or something? That didn't bother me at all but just be aware of that. Also, the smoked salmon was not like typical lox, you can see in the picture that it's more flakey, more like cooked salmon with smoked flavor. I also got the muffin in the picture. It was a little dry/not fresh tasting, even after I asked them to heat it up. It definitely has a healthy/homemade taste, probably that it was made with some type of wheat or oat flour. I also got the oat chia pudding to go (not pictured) and it was good too, still on the pricey side but at least the portion isn't tiny. Overall, the ambiance is nice for a cute brunch and I like that they supposedly use clean ingredients (no seed oils and refined sugar). Nevertheless, I'm still disappointed that the shakshuka was sold out. Also, I experienced l bad stomach pains later in the day after I ate this but not sure what the cause was ‍
