Went here to meet some friends. Upon arriving, noticed my friend's prime rib special was almost all fat. I ordered a draft beer, and it had no head or any carbonation. When I brought it to the attention of the waitress, she said they all come from the same line. My friend's beer had a decent head on it and carbonation. I inquired if there was any prime rib special left, and instead of telling me sorry can I get you something else, the waitress just replied, "No" and walked away. She didn't check in on us frequently and seemed like she would have liked to be anywhere else. The guy from the bar, with the long beard was very nice and engaging. Probably won't return. read more

This place has been around for awhile as a local neighborhood bar. The place is pretty clean inside and has a decent amount of tables. I've been here a few times but never really had a chance to try their prime rib special until now. The prime was flavorful and the loaded mashed potato's were tasty. My and my gf used to frequent this place sometime 3 times a week. We always would leave a decent tip, but one time in particular I was balling on a budget. We had a $65 bill and all I had for tip was $5. The skinny brunette bartender questioned the $5 tip. She said, "$5 on a $65 tab???? Did I do something wrong?" I said to her this was all I had this time to give. She began side eyeing and talking under her breath at me and my gf. The next time I brought my gf, I had just got paid and planned to make up for the lack of tip from before, only to find out we had been 86'd. We tried to get the red headed finger painted man to serve us a drink since we hadn't had issues with him, and he shook his head at us and ignored us. This wasn't the first incident. There was some other bartender there, brown haired or dirty blonde that had an attitude problem with my gf. She was very rude, to the point me and my gf were talking about her behavior at the bar. She comes up to us while she's pouring beer for someone else and says "you don't have to talk shit right in front of me." Then she continued to side eye, and skip us for drinks. This place used to be one of my favorite spots to go to. I tried catching the owner or management but never got a call back and could never catch him. The customer service here is trash. The bartenders are subpar. The food is good. I suggest instead of going here to go across the street to Big Red's. Way better experience. Any place is better than this garbage. read more

It was my first time here. I had just left a hospice patient who had passed. I had become close to this client. I went to the nearest bar to his home after assisting the family and just wanted to get a drink at the bar. The ginger-bearded bartender was rude to me the entire time. I'd never met him. Guess he was judging me on the way I looked? 40ish very average genx female. It was weird and upsetting. I just wanted a drink after watching my client pass away. We used to live in the area and came here all the time. Stopped in this morning for breakfast, turned out to be a terrible decision. We waited 30 minutes for breakfast and it still wasn't ready.The server was totally rude about it and said there were other tables in front of us so we had to wait. There was one table that had finished eating and one other table they brought food out to shortly after we got there. That was it. First she said hashbrowns take longer to cook. If they had so many people in front of us, they should have had hashbrowns already. We had to leave without getting breakfast. The worse part was the servers attitude. She had the smug screw you look on her face and argued with me. If this would have been the first time trying their restaurant, I would never go back. As it is, I will never go back for breakfast. This place is way too clean to rate as a dive bar. It's small but there is a lot of seating. In a busy mall, easy to get to and ample parking. My reason for showing up was to sample their chili which, according to them is amazing. Meh. Talk is cheap. No stars off for the misleading marketing but if amazing chili is your thing, pass this place by. Scottys claims their chili is amazing. It's above average (average in Portland is disgustingly lousy) but far from amazing. It's spicy and has lots of meat, which makes it above [PDX] average. But it's served on a large but very shallow bowl so the portion is very stingy. It was also barely warm so a big minus for that. If it was served in a massive sized bowl, *HOT*, with a basket of saltines that weren't previously pulverized by who knows how many previous diners you might have a contender. Sorry Scottys but your chili is a long way from amazing. Other than that, bartender was fine. Prices were reasonable. No complaints about staff or the venue. Not especially my kind of place so doubtful I will ever become a regular. But it has dark, intimate corners to bring a date and a few large windows if you like it bright while you imbibe. They do run regular specials and the special today looked pretty good except that I was there specifically to sample their chili. I would have put -1 if the program allowed. We were here Sunday night. Ordered off the happy hour menu. Went here specifically for the fries which are usually good. They were awful and soggy. We asked - "would it be ok to send the fries back??" Our waitress throws up her hands aggressively and yells at us "we are not a restaurant, we are a bar that serves food!!!!. " It's too bad as there is potential for this place to have the best bar food available in town but it is obvious the cooks lacks experience or just does not care. I will never go back. We ended up at Scotty's because it was the closest restaurant during a snow day so we walked in not knowing anything about it. We both ordered the Texas burger and it was so good, one of the best burgers I've had in awhile. The service was quick. Not sure if they were understaffed or not but we very much felt pressured to make our food decisions quickly so they could move to the next table. While ordering I asked what beers they had on tap. The waiter responded "I have 19 beers on tap if you want to look go to the bar. This is a bar not a restaurant." Which was incredibly rude. I understand what he's getting at but he could have done so without such poor customer service. The place is loud with several video lottery machines, your classic dive bar. If you want good customer service, pass by Scotty's. But if you don't mind rude and impatient staff and are just looking for good food then this place would satisfy that need. read more

I haven't been in here for around 15 years but stopped in a couple weeks ago. Okay, to be open up front, all I ate was potato skins and had a couple of beers. I like pubs and not fancy bars so I liked the atmosphere. The "happy hour" potato skins were AWESOME (for me) and a good price/deal ! More than palatable munchies, but here I have a quibble. The food runs a might spicy, which I like but the wife doesn't. We come here because the atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable. Great service, good prices, and generally just a good bar to go to if you want to watch some sports. Came in on Sunday and it was packed with people, but the TVs were filled with all the important games and sports going on, everyone was happy, bartenders working hard and happy. They have two pool tables off to the right in a back corner and it's a perfect spot you're not in the middle of people but they still have TVs so you can play pool, eat, drink and still watch the games. Their happy hour menu is pretty good, I didn't get a picture of it this time (sorry). There special was chicken strip and Mac cheese... I seen it come out. Literally a bowl of Mac cheese with a chicken strip laid on top and a piece of toast on the side. It didn't look like the best meal but for the few bucks it was im sure it filled you up! If I could give 0 stars , I promise you I would . This is my second time going here and my first time was AMAZING. The bartender was great and made me special drinks that weren't even on the menu. If I knew his name I would give him a huge shout out !!! But then we get to my experience last night when I went , and it was completely different . When we arrived so called Cat, the manager , was extremely rude . My friend was asking for suggestions on what to drink because it's only her second time coming to a bar and Cat was acting SO RUDE. If I pop in late night for a Jack n diet, it's usually busy - crowd is eclectic- some groups of old dudes watching tv, some younger folks playing pool in the back accompanied by some standard juke music, lottery zombies (what bar DOESN'T have those) on the back wall, hardcores bellied up.to bar and throw in a few retail folks finally on their way home from the mall - that's the crowd. The decor isn't much to see - booths surround a bunch of low 4 tops. And if I decide I need a bite to eat - they make a tasty Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich. Nice juicy breast, fresh fries. Absolutely terrible. Bartenders are rude and lack basic customer service skills. Drinks are overpriced and everyone in my group (6 people) all hated their drinks and didn't even drink them. When we asked for our check, clearly with all beverages still full, you would think the bartender would ask if everything was okay with the drinks or offer to remake them. Toilet water would be more enjoyable than the garbage drinks they make here. Don't waste your time, or your money. read more

I've watched two separate couples come in after me and sit down and order drinks and food and have left before I have even ordered food...Doesn't waste your time In addition... in the total time I was there (an hour and half) I was never offered a second round and I had to go to the bar to request a check and I watched the table next to me get served 4 additional times and I was never offered another drink or provided any additional service. Our first and last time here. We walked in, nobody greeted us, no sogn that said seat yourselves. We sat for about 10 minutes nobody came to help us. There was a bearded waiter helping everyone but us. My father-in-law went to the bar ordered our drinks and got us menus. It took another 10-15 minutes for the brunett waitress to take our order. She did not ask if i wanted my margarita on the rocks or blended. .with or with out salt. It was a horrible drink. Our food took abput 15 woch wasnt bad..but the food was horrible. No flavory quesadilla came with salsa but tasted like store bougjt cheap salsa. The prime eib was so so thin and flavorless. If you want a great experience and great food. UPDATE: 8/1/2016 I visited Scotty's on Friday on the way home from downtown Portland and was disappointed and astounded by the rude service I received. My boyfriend and I sat down in a booth and were having a very serious (but quiet) discussion. We would have gone home, but our roommate had been our ride and wanted to stay out. Since the boy and I had been fighting, I had tears in my eyes. Our server was a tall, hipster looking guy with a long beard & he may have been bald, I'm not sure. He asked for our IDs, and when we presented them, he rolled his eyes, sighed, and asked with such an annoyed and snarly attitude, "Why are there so many people from Illinois in my bar tonight?" Um, what? I was thrown off, and despite my bad mood, I thought I'd lighten him up with a joke: "Oh, you know. We just came here to raise your rent prices." His response: "Excuse me?" "I was kidding." My boyfriend asked for a water. Server said, "Yeah. You sure don't look like you could handle anything else." He walked away, dropped a water off to my boy, and gave me nothing. He didn't even give me a chance to order. So, I understand that bartenders have every right to cut off patrons if they feel they've had enough to drink. But we each only had ONE drink prior to arriving, and this guy's attitude and behavior was uncalled for. He could have easily said, "Sorry, buddy, but I think you've had enough." But instead, he basically told a sober person that he looked like crap and ignored me completely. We walked out to talk more, only to be followed by our friends who had sit at another table from us. Apparently, that jerk of a server had told the bar not to serve them either! And not for even for being drunk -- but for having Illinois IDs. I hope that pretentious bearded man loses his job. I was in a bad mood already; I didn't need to be discriminated against and given attitude for moving to Portland, too. I've been here numerous times with no complaints or issues, but this experience was so negative I had to say something. I'll come back, but I hope that this is my last problem here. ------- PREVIOUS REVIEW: (5 stars) So Scotty's is good little neighborhood joint; their drinks are strong and well-made, their Mac and cheese was phenomenal, the service was super friendly, AND they're open late. What's not to love? Sometimes it will be busy and later in the evening the crowd will start to get - well - belligerent. But that's okay to me! Scotty's offers video gaming, pool tables, plenty of seating, and you can even bring your drinks outside for all of your smoking and vaping needs. They even have a "mystery beer" which awards you a prize if you guess what it is. I think Scotty's is our new local late night bar. Now this is a neighborhood dive-ish bar with the right recipe! They get it, all of IT. 21 and over, which is fine by us. Lots of regulars, cheers environment, but new-comers are made to feel VERY welcome! Great dive vibe here! We hit this place 1-2 times a week, so I guess that makes us regulars. Food is great & reasonably priced for surprisingly excellent quality. They make their own everything from scratch, such as hollandaise sauce, salad dressings, prime rib, burger patties, fry sauce, hand cut fries, BBQ, hash browns, salsas ... I could go on, as it's obvious they care about the quality of food! They have lots of TVs for sports watching, great drinks. I love the margaritas when the gentleman with the beard makes them, with a good amount of muddled lemon/lime and fresh juice! Good pours here. Prime Rib dinner perfectly cooked medium rare, great sauces and decked out potatoes $13 on Fri/Sat nights can't be beat. It's VERY good. Their burgers are to die for; juicy, full of top quality ingredients. One of the BEST eggs benes around, including well known breakfast restaurants. I love their BENEs! They have taco/Mexican night and fantastic taco salads and burritos for practically pocket change + $5 ritas to wash it down. BBQ on Sundays with some of the best Q around! They have specials all the time, check out the special board for something new and awesome. Everything we've tried has been excellent. It's pub food, so don't expect bacon foamed haute cuisine, but some of the BEST pub food around! Servers and bar tenders have been there for years and they love their job. Service is on top of everything. If you need an extra napkin or you drop your fork, they know it before you need it. Maybe they can predict the future? If that's they case, they know we'll be back. If in the Burbs (aka the wasteland of no decent places to eat), skip the over priced crappy chain restaurants/bars, and get your asses into Scotty's. You won't be disappointed. read more

Scotty's is a fun place to go to when you are tired of your usual hangouts... The atmosphere is always friendly and the drinks are good. PLUS, they have a huge array of hot sauces...usually they bring them all out on a tray. So, if you like fire this is a great addition. Regarding the menu, the burgers are good. Usually a good compilation with a nice variety of different toppings. The Cort burger is definitely something to try. Also, the meatloaf sandwich. It is piled high with sauteed onions and delicious flavor. The only downside is that they run out at times. On Sundays, there is a bloody mary bar. The only thing is that the bloody mary mix is not all that great - mostly horseradish chucks that just love to plug up your straw. In the back room are two pool tables. Definitely a fun place to come to to play, since it gives the feel of being secluded and you won't be bumping into tables or people. And so far I have managed to keep my pool stick from breaking the window. :) Major downside...NO HAPPY HOUR. It would be nice to have some happy hour items for those late night munchie hours. read more

One step above a dive bar. It's the typical sports-dive bar experience though. The food can be greasy, so watch out, but if you come here you probably know to expect that. Prices are decent, slightly cheaper than most places, but I wouldn't say cheap. Unless you live nearby and need a place to hang with friends, I wouldn't go out of my way. read more
