I've been to multiple five guys through the years. The food is always good. I typically just get a burger. They give you enough fries for two people. It's just way too much for me, but they are good. They also have peanuts in the shell. Just walk over and help yourself to an appetizer while they prepare your food. read more

I am most definitely a Five Guys fan and after taking the in-laws today for lunch, they are as well. I have yet to introduce anyone to Five Guys and not have them be completely impressed. Everyone has covered the main points so I will just say that the fresh made burgers are wonderful but the fries are the stars of this place. They are as good as fries can get, IMO. For all the hype, all the comparison to the fabled In-N-Out, this franchise is just a workaday fast food joint that relies on quantity over quality to achieve results. That being said, please realize I've come from the land of milk and honey, a place where In-N-Out's hang heavy from the fruit-laden tree of SoCal's food scene. I arrived in Virginia Beach as a wide-eyed transplant, seeking the local gems that locals covet. Five Guys was touted as the "In-N-Out of the East Coast," so off I went to enjoy the experience. Whammy. The burgers quite good, to be fair. But for gawd's sake, if you're going to sell me a double burger, call it a double. Don't call it a cheeseburger and charge me more. Your "little burger" menu item sounds like a slider to the uninitiated. The fries were as greasy as Squiggie's hair, as evidenced by the immortalized greasy brown paper bag they serve their food in even for guests that are dining in (Five Guys is quite proud of their grease- check out their website). Again, quantity is the name of the game, so only buy one order per two diners, unless you are a competitive eater or have a tapeworm. And I'm speaking of the regular size, never mind the large. Finally, this joint is overpriced. 22 bucks for a burger, fries, and a soda for two? Really? Same meal at In-N-Out is about 13 bucks. Same meal ANYWHERE is cheaper. Five Guys must charge more because they genuinely believe their own hype (I assume this because they cover their walls with atta-boys and praise from sycophants and future lap-band recipients.) If I have to eat fast food, Five Guys would be my absolute favorite. Their fries are to die for. I like to get the cajun fries with their seasoning. I could do well with simply ordering a small bag of those things. (Do not get anything bigger, they are hearty servings.. and I mean hearty!!) Their burgers are great. Love the fact that they grill mushrooms if you like them on your burger. Also love their buns! There is something about them buns.. but I love em! This is my go to fast food restaurant, although pricey, still would rather have this than McDonald's. read more

Being from the San Francisco Bay Area, Five Guys is the closest thing to In-n-Out. Tasty burgers, thick fries....that's about it! You have your burger with a long list of fixings from grilled onions to jalapenos. Whenever I'm in the east coast I have to make a stop here. read more

This place has to be the most over-rated restaurant in the area. It's decent. I'd say slightly above average. The biggest problems with it are that it is grotesquely greasy and overpriced. The burger comes in foil wrap, and the grease penetrates all the way through it and the brown paper bag. Also, a small bacon cheeseburger combo sets you back 12 bucks. Honestly, I love Five Guys. It is obviously a chain but the food is always good. This location is nice and reliable in terms of quality. We've been a few times and always get the Cajun fries and a cheeseburger. Haven't been here in a while. However, we ordered two bacon cheese hotdogs, small fries, and two soft drinks. Bill came to $27! And the dogs were regular size. $7.69 for a bacon cheese dog? I love this location! My husband and I decided to grab a last minute bite to eat. When we arrived the store was clean and the staff greeted us right away! We placed our order and were thanked. We had our delicious food just minutes later. I love the soda machines here. There are over 100 different drinks to choose from! Our burgers were perfectly cooked and served hot! We had more than enough fries to share and ate every last bit of food! The staff were very entertaining. They sang and joked and had wonderful customer service skills. Ordered a shake and it was never made. Our food came up and still no shake. No one noticed or attended to me as I stood at the pick up area for several minutes. After going back and waiting in line the cashier said he'd remake it and then proceeded to take several orders. I'm still standing here waiting for my shake as my food gets cold. No one cares. I will never go in this restaurant again. If there was a zero option I would have taken it. On the positive side I was greeted and waited on quickly. However, when I tried to pay with a $50 bill it became a major flail. The cashier yelled at someone and held up the bill and the woman came over and scanned for so long that about the time she "approved" the bill, I said to forget it and I paid with smaller bills. It was a humiliating and insulting experience because it took so long for her to approve it. Then, when I picked up my food, the fries had been thrown on top of the burger so that I could not reach the burger without dumping the fries out on the table and even with some of them landing on the napkin I put down it was a big mess. I just retrieved my burger and put the fries back in the bag for disposal. I should have returned to the pick up station and had the assembler put the fries in a separate bag. By this time I was furious and just wanted to eat and leave. The long awaited burger was dry and tasteless. The only thing that made it edible was the mayo and tomato. The bill was almost $16. What a waste. I could get better tasting food at Burger King for a lot less. The only bright spot was the young man who held the door for me while I fled the building. read more

I'm not big on greasy foods but five guys get a thumbs up . I don't like a bunch of onions and extra stuff on my food and I have the option to exclude that in my order . I just order a regular hamburger with a small side of fries . Not to mention a small size of fries is almost the whole bag . They fill the bag up with greasy fries . On my burger I just get ketchup and pickles and it's really good . I do feel like I'm in border line heart attack mode while eating here but it is a good tasting restaurant . The staff is always friendly and the area is clean with really clear lighting . You will need lots and lots of ketchup because the fries do not seem to go away while your eating . They do have the newer fountain drink machines where they have flavored soda such as peach Sprite... One of my favorites . read more
