I heard the Five Guys grilled cheese sandwich was good, so i had to check it out. We walked in and placed our togo order. It was about a 5 minute wait. The staff was friendly. The grilled cheese is on a burger bun thats flipped inside out and it has a little more cheese than a regular cheeseburger. Its about $2.70 to add a patty to the sandwich. It came to about $10 for JUST the burger. I do love a good burger, but i wish they had a cheaper option for a burger with fries. I like that if you order fries its kinda plentiful. But you've gotta like handcut fries. The fries are pretty good, but they get limp kinda quickly. If you want flavor on your burger don't forget to ask for cajun seasoning or your burger will just be unseasoned meat thats grilled. It leaves more to be desired. The cajun seasoning helped the burger out and it was pretty good. My only complaint is the burger gets soggy kinda quickly. So eat it asap. 3.5 stars Five Guys!!

Love five guys. But first and last time at this location. Service was fine, the hamburger was great but the fries were still raw in the center. Felt like no a/c was in use, it's 90 outside and I started to sweat inside. And watch your step on the way to the bathrooms. The kitchen exit is right before the bathrooms and the floor was very slippery from the grease and so was the bathroom itself. And all but one table was clean.

    Hello ladies.

Perhaps I'm just terribly cheap, but I feel like $8.50 for one double cheeseburger to-go is kinda pricey! However, I hate to say that it's totally worth it, but where else could I get such an awesome burger?? They even grilled my jalapeños on request. I'm not sure why they're better, they just are. I can't even make as good of a burger at home and I consider myself an awesome cook. I remember visiting 5 guys before they got so big when I was a young kid while living in Arlington, off of Glebe Rd. My parents lived close by and would take me for a burger every now and then. Back then, the burgers were around $3 if I recall correctly. Inflation sucks!!

Yessssssssssss. Someone posted on Facebook about a burger from Five Guys. Then I'm talking with some friends and someone says burger. All of a sudden, I'm craving a burger. Hello, Five Guys. Five dudes were working last Thursday night and they were the coolest folks I've ever dealt with in fast food. I threw out my topping order like Mark Wahlberg threw out female names in the movie Ted. Not a single error. Bacon cheeseburger deluxe... So big you'll need a knife and fork. It's more fun to make a mess. Throw in an order of fries and you'll be eating for days. All this was super lovely. I was the happiest fat kid on earth. If this was my last meal on earth, I would be content. Five Guys is where it's at.

A very decent Five Guys locations here at Fairfield Shopping center. The location is easily twice as large as the one I normally visit out out Battlefield Blvd. The order time to table was also exceptionally fast and we were eating out lunches about 6-7 minutes after placing the orders. And let me tell ya, I had about 2 tons a fries in my bag too. There was actually a larger volume of fries in the bag than in the cup and while I shouldn't have... I ate every last one of those crispy pieces of potato!!! Every one!!! Just delicious!!!

I really enjoy the way they make their burgers, and all the toppings are always extremely fresh! The staff at this location are super friendly. This reminds me of the old Fudrucker's that used to be on Virginia Beach Blvd. The french fries come in massive portions, even a small has extra scoops in the bag. They have salted peanuts to munch on too. I didn't realize they have hot dogs! They do! I got one after my seeing my friend's... they slice it in half and grill it and then it goes on the bun fitting all neatly with the toppings. NOT dribbling off the top. I liked the hot dog and the way it was served, but it wasn't an amazing piece of pork. They have better hot dogs at Fido's. It was pretty expensive at $4 something.

So when one of the Homies told me about this place I was all in because - burgers - what's not to love. Barrel 17 did not disappoint; when i got there i realized quickly i was the last to know because it was busy. We had about a 10 minute wait to be seated but that was cut short by option to sit at the bar. The bartender was working like she had six arms. It was non stop; attentive, taking orders, making drinks, checking back with others, she was truly impressive. The places was jumping; it was busy, casual and didn't slow down from the time we arrived until we left. Parking is challenging, there's a small lot beside the restaurant and a small lot behind it so if you can car pool you'll benefit yourselves. Now on to the star of the show - the food! The only knock I had was portion size. In a big guy with an even bigger appetite and when i left there i could've eaten my whole meal over again lol. But that's also because it was delicious. I got the mac n cheese starter, the Beast Burger, tater tots , and the biggest slice of chocolate cake I've ever had. Literally the biggest slice of cake ever- twice the size of my burger. Everything was delicious, from start to finish and if i were a person that had a normal appetite i would've left full like my friends did. Will definitely be back!

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

The menu is small but very intentionally focused. They offer smash burgers done right, the iconic Norfolk snap dog, ice-cold beers, wine, and classic cocktails, and the prices are honestly great for the quality. The space itself feels like an old-school local diner in the best way. Bar stools, cozy seating, and that nostalgic, no-frills vibe that makes you want to hang out longer than planned. It's small, so definitely expect a wait during busy times, but it's absolutely worth it. They also have outdoor seating, which will be clutch once the warm weather really kicks in. I ordered a Modelo, the F&P style fries, and the Mickey Burger. The fries are next-level, very much giving In-N-Out animal style vibes topped with grilled onions, Goodboy sauce, and cheese. I could eat those alone and be happy. The Mickey Burger comes with a double patty, cheese, Goodboy sauce, pickles, lettuce, onions, and a sesame bun. I subbed the raw onions for grilled onions (highly recommend), and it was perfection. Juicy, crispy-edged, flavorful ... everything a smash burger should be. I truly can't express how good this place is. The service was great, the food was unreal, and I'm already planning my next visit. Next time, I'm definitely trying their espresso martini. The Bad: Finding this place is a pain especially if you are not familiar with the beach area and the noise level is quite loud as it is inside a garage. Literally perfect timing because no one was waiting before us and about 10-20 minutes later the waiting area became packed for that 3 o clock happy hour. Side note: happy hour is from 3-7, 7 days a week! The service was phenomenal, the whole staff was so nice and accommodating. While we waited for our table, we were able to order a cocktail from one of the waitresses. We also had a baby with a stroller and they made sure we had plenty of room once we were seated at our table. The food was amazing, I'm a fan of cooked oyster but i decided to be a little spontaneous and try them raw. I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and clean tasting these oysters were. It reminded me of eating sashimi. My wife and father in law had the lobster rolls, they both loved them! My son had the double cheeseburger from the happy hour menu, literally cannot beat this deal. $6 double cheeseburger with fries on the boardwalk is unimaginable lol. I had the Nashville hot chicken, which was good but maybe could've used a little more flavor. But the quality of the sandwich as a whole was spot on. I really don't have any complaints, this was the highlight of our day. My in laws live in Wisconsin but they travel a bunch and they said that these oysters were some of the best they had ever had. To those that care: The specific incident that caused my review was I had went in on a tuesday for their "taco Tuesday" special. Now because I work by the oceanfront I frequent this place. I've been told they aren't supposed to let you walk out with to go orders on their taco Tuesday, but if I pay for and eat some of my food who is this manager to say I can't leave with a to go box(which in most cases I have), but I digress. I tried to do it today and the manager comes to me with a nasty attitude over me not tipping enough for his standards telling me I can't take my food to go because he doesn't feel I tip enough and "what's a 5 dollar tip gonna do for him". Keep in mind I told him I'm not ordering food for just myself I sometimes take lunch orders from work which is never more than 5 to go small tacos. I've never been rude to this man I'm a quiet person so I usually order wait and leave. I work for a reputable company that sees a lot of tourism and I often recommended this spot to our guests but due to this situation I will be advising people to avoid this place if you're not just going to drink at the end of the night on The Weekend. In the specific event the owner of the restaurant was there and confirmed they weren't supposed to be doing to go tacos which I can respect. What I dont respect is the manager picking and choosing when he wants to follow the rules of the establishment for his own gain.
