Ok, when I checked in I noticed a bunch of one star reviews and wondered how anyone could give 5 guys only one star... I've been going to 5 guys restaurants for about 15 years when I first experienced them in Myrtle Beach. But, I guess some just aren't good... We came today and we both ordered burgers and a large fry to share. It took 17 minutes to get our order (and the place was dead), we got our order and the burgers were COLD and dry AF. Now I could have brought them back up, but I was tired AF after working all day and I just wanted to get home to relax. Now, Burger King and Wendy's are both about a mile from our house and McDonald's about one and a half miles but we drove 8.5 miles to get a really good burger. I never have had such a bad burger from 5 Guys ( and not even so bad from McDonald's!) and I'll never return to this location. Even the bread seemed old and the bacon was burnt. read more

I've been going to Five Guys for a long time. I found it by accident more than 10 years ago in CT. Huge portion of fries were amazing. The burger was cooked great. Couldn't believe I found this gem. Didn't realize it was a chain. I've always had a perfect dining experience since the first time. Until today. The fries were cooked to perfection per usual. The new paper container was much smaller. I get it. That's the way corporations save money. Smaller portions jack up prices. They are on the higher end of the fast food chains in the first place. The burger was dry and crumbly. Something I've never experienced in the past. The strange part was as I ate the burger. The bun was wet. It broke the bottom bun. I couldn't pick it up anymore. Tried but, the dry broken up burger and toppings fell apart in my hands. One thing I noticed was the cook on the grill was "smashing" the patties on the grill. WHY!?!?! Could this be the culprit of a bad burger quality? If this is the new way they are cooking the meat. I'm not going anymore. Yesterday I ordered three fries, and when I received my order, each cup contained barely any fries. Five Guys is known for generous portions, especially considering the price, so this was surprising. When I raised my concern, an employee responded by saying, "There are no more fries," yet then proceeded to add more fries to my bags in a noticeably passive-aggressive manner. It was clear he was upset that I had expressed a concern. After leaving, I realized the fries had been deliberately oversalted to the point that they were completely inedible. Not a great place the food is good but I noticed that they didn't have any straw or napkins when I went last time and the trash bin was overflowing look like no one had cleaned it or emptied it. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and make sure each customer is satisfied. The prices are also very reasonable Burger was juicy and All fries should have extra fries in the bag. The fries are not considered "crispy." Five Guys serves boardwalk-style fries, which are soft inside and firm on the outside, but don't have the "crispy" quality found in other style fries. Dude. It's Five Guys. They may not get it right 2% of the time but I find that my meal is always prepared within the timeframe they suggest. Furthermore, all of the ingredients are always super fresh. I always ask for my burger to be wrapped in lettuce, even though I no longer do keto. It's so good! The staff is always super friendly and caring. This is my favorite location to get burgers! I even order them on DoorDash. Even from almost 9 miles away they deliver fresh burgers and ingredients plus amazing hotdogs and milkshakes. Definitely give them a try! read more

The Fast - Good - Cheap Paradigm? There is something called the Fast - Good - Cheap Paradigm. Supposedly you can pick two (Fast and Good, or Good and Cheap), but not get all three. But today at Five Guys, I thought the meal was fast, good and inexpensive. At Five Guys, you can construct your own burger. I chose lettuce, pickles and ketchup for my cheeseburger. The burger was hot and tasty and the bun was warm and not soggy. Their "Little Fries" is actually an oxymoron, as they take a cup of fries and dump an overflowing load of fries on top of the cup and into the bag. So a little fry is actually quite big. The fries were hot and somewhat crispy, quite tasty when salted and dunked in ketchup. The calorie estimate, for those who might be curious, is substantial. A little fry lists at 526 calories and a cheeseburger weighs in around 840 calories for a whopping 1,300 plus calories. I compensated by only eating a modest portion of my fries, likely reducing my total to only... an astronomical 1,100 calories! In my cheeseburger pecking order, Five Guys would come in behind Shake Shack, but significantly ahead of McDonald's or Wahlburgers. I wanted a bacon cheeseburger with relish on one side and pickles on the other. The cashier told my boyfriend that the cooks "won't be able to figure out how to do this... why don't I just put the pickles on the side?" You know there's something wrong with an establishment when the cashier tells the customer that the cooks are too dumb to put relish on one side of the bun and pickles on the other side. The Five Guys bacon cheeseburger (San Diego, California) ended my 17 year stint as a vegetarian. This location is an insult to the Five Guys name. The shake machine has currently been inoperative for six weeks. I was just informed they are optimistic it will be working again in FOUR weeks. This happens every couple months. Now I'll be driving much further to go to a location that actually has more than half their menu in stock. Don't bother with this location, they're a joke. I always get a bacon cheeseburger, it's excellent every time! The staff are very nice and funny. I got my order in under 5 min. every time I've visited this place. The shakes are awesome. Ordered a burger a few weeks back, specified a pickup time, arrived, and the bag with my burger was sitting on top of the fry warmer. I arrive and tell them I'm there for my order. Kid takes the bag off the warmer and drops it on a side table. It sat there for two minutes while the kid finished orders for eat-in customers, then grabs my bag and drops it in front of me. I was home in 2 minutes. Burger was stone cold. It's clear they are making them as the orders arrive, rather than making them for when the customer is actually going to pick them up. Not the first time this has happened either. Seriously, McDonalds serves hot food more consistently than this place. Avoid unless you are going to order, wait, and eat on site. I absolutely love this location. It's new, the people working there are super nice. They take care of you quickly. I walked in after a group of softball team members and everyone that worked at Five Guys got everyone's order out in a great time frame. I got my food quickly. Outdoor seating. The only thing I could complain about is that they put too much bbq sauce every time but I could just ask for it lightly done..it's never that big of a deal so I don't. I was starving and when I starving... I mean I was starving! And when I walked in I was so excited. But for some reason massive bags of peanuts are conveniently right in the way of the line. I tried to navigate this valley of peanut bags but it was so hard. I was unsuccessful, I FELL on one of the bags and luckily my friend pulled me back up. If he wasn't here I could have suffered the consequences of this ignorant establishment. And here's the icing the cake... I was yelled at... "hey! None of that here, if your gunna do that then do outsides" I never felt more in danger, this has scared me deep. And I was also horrified at the drink prices. Burger was good but bad service. Ok, I have read many of Massachusetts diners reviews and have disagreed with most of them mainly because I feel they lack any taste, but I thought we would all be in agreement on this one since the burgers themselves have no taste at all. To begin, a real hamburger is not a hamburger unless it is grilled, these are not. Fried hamburgers are breakfast meats, something you would eat along with your eggs and hash, so off the bat Burger King has them beat in the taste category. Price wise I would have no issue paying $6 bucks for a burger if the taste and quantity were there however as you would expect they are not. The flavor is as I have already stated bland and the quantity is slightly more than you would get at a fast food joint. So whoever at the Washington Magazine who wrote that Five Guys was a bargain probably was a public official in a prior life since they have no clue as to what a real person would call a bargain. The fires were hot but soggy, again another menu item with very little flavor. I like many prefer my fries crispy and with some note of flavor, these were like eating fried sticks of toilet paper. The shakes were good but at $5 a pop I would like to see a larger portion, but the free add on's for the shakes was a nice touch. If you are not a beef eater and are some how forced or coerced into going to 5 Guys with a group of friends or co-workers you will gaze sadly into their menu for there would be nothing there for you. Other than a veggie sandwich, BLT or grilled cheese you will be real disappointed and wished you had different friends. Free peanuts with way too much salt and free all you can handle toppings are maybe a plus for this place if you are into that sort of thing but for me that just doesnt cut it. I know I am not alone in my feelings. When we got back had a chat with my contractor who is in the process of installing a new deck and he too said he was not impressed with the 5 Guys experience, in fact he suggests that the Red Robin around the corner has a better burger at a better price and I am inclined to agree with him. read more
