Customer service at the register could use some retraining. Little girl working the front gave the impression there were better things she could be doing than working. Burgers came out great! Fry oil needs to be changed out more frequently. You can taste it. It's the first day back after Christmas so may be just the staff getting back into the swing of things. Dear five guys, for starters your food was pretty bomb. You walk in and you can serve yourself some delicious nuts in a little cardboard boat, deeelishh. I heard that this burger joint was super good from word of mouth, mostly from people who've had it on the mainland, so I decided to try this place out tonight. I ordered a "little cheeseburger" with lettuce, mushrooms, mayo, and of course cheese. With french fries & an oreo milkshake. It was around 10:15PM and the manager who was on duty told people around us "could you wrap it up so we can close" he didnt even ask politely or ask how their food was, he was just so caught up in closing the store. I also heard him mentioning that they wont be serving milkshakes to customers after a certain time, even if the customer already paid for it. Which makes no sense to me. Let me start off with the good. My boyfriend and I got two Bacon Cheeseburgers ($11.79 per burger), a LG Cajun Fries ($7.89), a LG drink ($3.69), and 2 shakes ($5.69 per shake). The burgers were great. All the them get mayo, ketchup, mustard, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles, unless you wanna opt out on some. The beef has a really fresh taste to it and the bun surprisingly doesn't get soggy from all the juices. The Cajun fries, they were a bit soggy, probably because we we're there during busy hours, but taste-wise, really good. If you're into spicy, the Cajun is the way to go. If it's too hot, dip it in ketchup, lol. To finish everything down, we got shakes. All the mix-ins were free, so we both decided to make concoctions of our own. He got a PB, chocolate, banana & I got a Salted Caramel Coffee. Both turned out bomb. Service was on point, too. One of my friend's orders got mixed up & the cashier somehow put 5 flavors into one shake. We went up to one of the ladies that were handing out the orders and let her know our situation. She smiled, apologized for the mistake, and made our 5 shakes. We were gonna pay for them, but said it was ok. For the bad...although it's a good burger joint, I'm pretty disappointed with the prices. On the mainland, they're known for their value. I understand that it's Hawaii and obviously everything here is gonna be a lot more expensive than every other place, but it's a really big inconvenience for those in town that are spending $10+ on gas just to drive to Mililani for burgers. You have so many options at 5 guys and I really enjoy them in the mainland. The biggest concern in Hawaii is that pricing is so much higher. While the quality seems on par with what I have had in the mainland prices are significantly higher. I guess that is the price you pay for living in paradise. Finally got to go here! We've been to Five Guys in the mainland, so we're excited to see that it finally made its way to Hawaii. Located in Town Center by the theaters, Five Guys is known for their large burgers, Cajun style fries, thick milkshakes and of course - complimentary peanuts! Line was busy during Saturday lunch, but it moved quickly. When we go to the counter, we ordered a Little Bacon Cheeseburger, Little Cheeseburger, Cajun fries and a coke. We also wanted a Oreo milkshake - there were two kinds (Oreo cookies pieces and Oreo creme) so the employee at the register suggested we get a combo shake called "Double Stuff". Turned out tasting awesome - she was very helpful! Inside is crowded, so you have to wait until people leave to snag a table. Other than that, food was delicious and service was great! The sign on the door says 10 people in the store for social distancing purposes. When we ordered there were a total of 6 people in the store. 5 people walked in and stood in line. They got toppings on toppings too. And if you have to wait in line, there's peanuts to snack on...seriously, free snacks at a food place. Since trying it in LA a few years ago, I fell in love with Five Guys, especially the fries. With the news of their opening in Hawaii, I was excited. My excitement was tempered with the fact that they would be going through the usual new restaurant blues, the issues of bringing a known brand to a new market, and the Hawaii premium in cost of doing business. The food was great, delivers that great American diner burger, fantastic fries, and the coke machine on steroids. The price is definitely outrageous, so I don't know how long they'll last or if they will have the staying power to open more locations in Hawaii, but as long as they're open, I'll continue to go now and then. Only down fall and why its not 5stars is that from waiting outside in line I could see how dirty the floor was (full of peanut shells) when I got inside to wait in a smaller line there were trays of peanut shells just sitting around, I couldn't handle that and threw them away myself. When we SST down and a staff member wiped our table she told us to just throw all the peanut shells on the ground. I was surprised of this because in mainland Five Guys it was not like that at all. I too waited until the hyped died so it wasn't crowded and the food came out quickly. I enjoyed the burger a lot and according to their sign it's a 100% beef. It reminded me of going to chili or islands in Alamoana. You pay the exact same amount for a burger and fries as you do at those places so I'm not sure why people are complaining about price. Since there's no In and Out burger in Hawaii, will Five Guys be a hit in Hawaii? People in Hawaii work hard for a living and the first thing that really struck me was the prices of the entire menu. A "little" cheese burger was $7.69. My regular cheeseburger was $10.39. This includes all the toppings. With a medium fries and a medium drink, the final price was over $28. Now if the food is to die for, people will spend a fortune for great food. I had to compare my final burger to similar looking burgers I've eaten before. We quickly recalled the Jumbo Jack and Teddy's cheeseburger. The Five Guys burger was good but they didn't hit the mark in small areas. We think the burger itself was under seasoned (i.e not enough salt/pepper on the burger). Next the toppings were very minimal. I asked for mayo and ketchup and I had to dig deep to make sure I tasted it. Lettuce was small enough to fit the bun but no larger. The fries were good but not all crispy and consistent. Quite often the fries came in small pieces. Overall nice looking restaurant with a great soda machine and free complimentary peanuts. It's clean and always maintained.
