This place really isn't my vibe, but decided to give it a chance after years last week Friday. First, the parking lot is horrendous. I would throw in the towel and just park on the street if I ever return. The lanes are really narrow and everyone and their children are in this area! I felt like we were totally rushed. We got there around 5:30pm and was already out the door a bit after 6pm because I felt like we were being ushered to leave. The waitress who served us didn't offer my date another drink and sat a family of 5 or 6 right behind us on the lower deck when there were so many other tables that were available. I was very impressed with the food here! Super delicious and they do a good job making sure anything that is baked or deep fried comes out CRISPY! Just how I like it! The best part of our meal was the potato skins, and onion rings! Both were amazing. I love how crispy they were. The ribs were just so so, and the burgers were good, but not the best I've ever had. I asked for my burger to be medium rare, but it came out well done. I also did not order fries with my burger because I was told they would be an extra $5.50... However, they brought them with fries anyway. Fortunately, our waitress removed the cost of the fries from our bill. The only reason I can't give this place five stars, even though the food was really good, is because of service. Service was really slow tonight, we were not checked in on often, and our waitress made us feel like she didn't want to be serving us. Always love coming here. Great ambiance, good food, and service is good. Tonight's service was bad though not gonna lie but I come often. Always my favorite chill spot. My usual order is the unseasoned wings sauce on the side and potato skins. Hits the spot! Extensive drink menu with epic names lol. Tonight we had my usual Hello Kitty shot, a kamikaze, shack on Rita and a trash can. Usually they're strong but tonight we asked for additional shots after we got them. The Shack has been around for many years and I hope it stays that way. It's a large bar with a "dive bar" feel and we wouldn't have it any other way. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. We recently went to The Shack where I hosted a birthday party for 30 people. They put us in a separate section of the bar so that we had our own space and our server was amazing. Soooo I was terribly bummed out to learn that my favorite burger place in Kailua was no longer there...! But thank goodness, they still had the Mililani location open...! I ordered my favorite burger (the Shack burger with Portuguese sausage) and onion rings to share. My wife had the Shack burger with guacamole. The feel of the restaurant was the same nice vibe from the Kailua location that was a short walk from my house years ago and the walls were adorned with clever custom license plates that patrons, such as myself had brought in to contribute over the years. Our server was very sweet and nice and kept the drinks and food coming until we could barely move...! I definitely recommend this place and would drive the 40 minutes here again from Waikiki to enjoy that fabulous burger! read more

Burger was alright, for a burger place it should have been flame grilled or seasoned better instead it was like a frozen 1/3lb ballpark patty that was microwaved, also the bun wasn't toasted so it fell apart rather quickly. I've honestly never had a bad meal or time here at the shack. Service is amazing and friendly, beers are cold and the mixed drinks are perfectly poured. We usually stop in for pupu's so I can't speak on the other stuff, but loaded tots, and those buffalo wings with that chunky blue cheese is where it's at. Garden salad is as fresh as can be. Every time I go, I've always had a great experience! Sat in the bar area last time and the bartender was extremely nice and friendly. I ordered the avocado burger with fries. The fries were delicious, so was the burger. I don't like mayonnaise and I forgot to tell them to take it off the burger, so a ton of mayo was on the burger. Other than that, it was a good burger. They ADD a SURCHARGE when you use a credit card! Better establishments NEVER do this. A business has many expenses; the credit card merchant fee is one of those expenses. That cost should simply be "baked in" to what they charge. I would have NO problem if they raised their prices accordingly, but like most people, I hate "EXTRA" or any "ADD-ON" fees. So far, they do not add a surcharge, for straws, napkins, the bathroom, or their parking lot. I'm an above average tipper, however, I deduct the surcharge from the tip. I don't like punishing the server for a bad management decision, but there is no alternative. This is a fun place. The nearest thing you will find to a genuine Tiki Bar on Oahu. (For a real Tiki Bar, you have to go to Maui.) They have a large menu, with lots of good items. I've had the cheeseburger, and various sandwiches. Their salads are also good, but way too big. So stopped on here tonight for the first time. First off the guys I work with would be giving me a hard time for eating here as it doesn't have a 4.5 but I'm not like them so here we go. I actually dig the vibe here, bartender remembered what beer I was drinking and when I made a whiskey selection she remembered that as well so that is why we are sitting at a 3 here. Burger was awful, this has to be a Sysco frozen burger or the modern equivalent to what I worked with as a kid with no seasoning or anything to bring it back to life. Ordered a mushroom and Swiss, and I don't understand on what planet a mush and Swiss would come with LTO. The bartender mentioned that this place used to be open until 2 am but not any more, well the world has changed. We would like a smash burger that is not obviously frozen, a whiskey worthy of a snifter glass and a 4.5 rating on yelp. This may have worked in the 80's and 90's but it probably ain't gonna fly anymore. Owner needs to step aside and let someone else make decisions as this place is stuck in the past. Zucchini fries and onion rings were super delicious and served hot! Chicken sandwich had lemon pepper on it and was delicious as well. We went on a not so busy night so it wasn't packed like usual happy hour times so the ambiance was pretty subtle with some music and guests nearby. read more

We haven't been here in years!! Since we were around the area and was hungry, my wife wanted to eat at The Shack. Lunch time was surprisingly sparse with people. We seated ourselves, hoping someone saw us enter (they did). The waitress greeted us and was friendly. She started us with drinks. I looked around the restaurant, which looked kinda cramped with ALOT of tables and chairs kinda close together. I can only imagine when this place is packed with people. Thank God we ate at a slow time. For appetizer, we ordered the deep fried mozzarella (which was very ono). Wife ordered the pastrami rueben with tots. I had the turkey sandwich with fries. Waitress came with our food in about 20mins Which was acceptable. After many years not coming here, I decided to come here with coworkers last night 2025 JUNE 28 after an incident happened many years ago about 2014-2015. Back then, came with my then husband and his friend. I remember ordering a chicken sandwhich with fries and we also ordered a salad. Service sucked and what was degrading was the FOOD. We were served salad with a long piece of BLACK HAIR. Very noticeable from a far so I didn't understand how the person bringing our food did NOT SEE THE HAIR on the salad!!!! On top of the light green lettuce. It was so disgusting I've seen the waitress bringing it as she walked towards table. First thing I said was there is a hair. Don't even get me started on the chicken sandwhich. It was a chicken patty looked like something from a school lunch. I was so highly disappointed that I told my self I would never return but here I am tonight. MOVING FORWARD, I only came because a coworker picked this place and I was very hesitant to even coming. So our waitress was very nice and sweet. She was attentive which was surprising because I read the recent reviews and talking with past experience, I wasn't expecting that. We decided to order food since we were hungry. I was amazed at how much better the quality went up. I mean it wasn't gourmet but def a step higher in quality than what I was served years ago. I recently dined at The Shack for the first time and was happy I did. We golf in Mililani often and always find someplace to have a beer and lunch nearby. My friend recommended The Shack for good burgers, so we were all in. The restaurant was really empty on the week day we dined here so the service was excellent. Looking through the menu we saw the burgers were all priced about $10.99, but fries are not included. I ordered the Ortega cheeseburger and the others ordered the burger that had a spicy hot links sausage in it. We all enjoyed our burgers immensely and will be coming back again. We also ordered a side of fries and onion ring to share. There are many items on the menu that I'd like to return and try. read more

Wish I could give one star. Girl manager was very stuck up and noticeably drunk on the job. Also wouldn't take a coupon that was valid for acouple more days to try and get more money for food that isn't that high of quality. Edit: no one screamed over the phone. I was on speaker the entire time he was there and since the singing and establishment was extremely loud your "manager" had told me to speak up in a rude manner many many times. Your bartender was unprofessional and rude. Brittan did not throw his card. It's absurd of you to lie to try and protect your place of business and I'm sure camera footage would show otherwise. I have used a coupon similar to this during another promotion you had before and that has never happened HENSE why the coupon specifically states to show the screen and not anything else. If that is the fact, maybe you should go over and redo the policies so you can stop misleading customers. We'll be back to the establishment for the card, definitely not to eat there again. Great "dive bar" with pretty good food. We stopped in for lunch after visiting the Dole Plantation. A lot of military folks in there. That's a good sign for me. I went with the Shack Cheese Burger with the hot link. It was different, but good. By different, I mean it's different eating a burger and having to "snap" through the hot link. It was a flavorful burger. Service was great. We sat towards the outside & a rain shower started to blow in. They were very accommodating in closing that portion so we wouldn't get wet. The shack is always packed. Every time we drive by there seems to be a wait... That is before the covid verification mandate. I ordered all the food pictures and it only took about 20 minutes. There was only a few people eating in the restaurant. They are asking for proof of vaccination and handing out wristbands. We got our food to go though. Everything tastes really good. Wings were perfect. Fries and onion rings were hot. Sauce for onion rings was really good. All the burgers were cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor. They used to have live music. I think the Shack is as old as I am! The food is typically bar food but some of the menu choices are really tasty. The service is great. However, the conditions of the kitchen and floors could be improved. It's a staple in Mililani and a Military favorite. Pool tables, entertainment machines, and darts and open air seating.
