Air Force establishment is extremely spacious with tons of TVs and seating. Menu is pretty limited and the burger meat is not good. It's that beef that is compounded and shaped together so although the paddies are large, jagged shaped pieces break off. It's a good place to hang out in large groups so we'll continue to go, but I'm posting this review to remind myself to eat before going. The bar is solid and reasonably priced so that really evens things out. I would add another star but buying the leftover chowhall burger meat multiple times really disappointed me. This is a great low key pub food style place on base. You need base access to come but if you can, you won't be disappointed. Is the food 5 stars? No, but it's good and the drink choices are plentiful. Service can be a little slow but that's largely due to being an MWR style facility and the bartender is also running the register to check people out (probably not in business to make money but rather to offer a service to base patrons). The staff are all very nice friendly people. I mostly get appetizers here, either at work functions or a quick bite with my wife, but the entrees are good too. The cheese curds are probably my favorite item. If you have base access and want to grab a drink and some fried snacks, this place is highly recommended. read more

Awesome restaurant on JBPHH if you're looking for quick and easy food & service with any crowd! The outside patio area is huge, and we often see tons of kiddos playing around, which is nice to see. We have only come here for DJ Bingo on Saturday evenings so far, so we've not had much of the food yet, but not a bad beer selection on tap! Food is good the majority of the time. We did have one incident with under cooked chicken but they rectified the situation. During bush times they can get backlogged with only a few employees and you can end up waiting a while to pay. That said, they have some really good and super affordable menu options. The food is fine if they serve it to you fresh, however, if they are busy and you ask for it to go- they dont hand you a box and send you on the way. They will give you the food, make you wait through the whole ordering line again to ask a second time for a box, letting your food get cold and greasy, wearing out your patience to fix their mistake. Finally After a couple of unsuccessful tries to get here, because different sites gave different hours for this location, we got in. Now to get this straight they opened at 1100 (Tues March 15) the time we came. I don't know what their real hours are because really I'm not sure if I'll come here again. It's crowded the first few mins of opening; expected but it seems like they didn't bring up their stoves, fryers, and ovens up till after we ordered because it took awhile for our food to come. Time stamp says 1132 when I took my fish and chips pics. Ok you can say that's quick but when the center of the fish is lukewarm aka close to cold it's not the same. I didn't want to bring it back because one it's flash cooked and two we were on a tight time limit. But the fries are good; piping hot and crispy. My buddy got the burger and say it's one on the best he's had on island. (I know you've been reading my burger reviews for comparison) Overall two stars. The venue is big. Plenty of seats, game tables, and a full bar. Parking is plentiful and great scenery. But lack of informative hours, subpar food, and poor service really drives this rating down. Was enjoying regular Tuesday trivia, but guy hosting it (DJ Trivia) about had a meltdown tonight. Tried to tell him nicely that numbers on the screen were wrong. Thought I'd give him a heads up so he'd look into it. A team can't double down on round two (4-10 point questions, so only 40 possible points) with the 60 points that was displayed on the left column of the screen. Another team earned 15 points on Round 2 which was 10 pts a question- again on left column of the screen. "What do you want me to do?!? What do you want me to do?!? How many points do you want?" I told him all I wanted was for him to check his numbers. Whatever. Not going to argue. Then he gets on mic and announces, ANNOUNCES I'm arguing with him. No one would have been the wiser otherwise, but boy did he man up with his BIG SELF on his BIG LOUD microphone to call me out. Steer clear. Really thought he was a nice guy, until he Jekyll and Hyde'd me tonight. That moment you realize the nice guy is an absolute jerk.... I hate fake people. Be warned. This is my experience here...I've been to this place several times. Each time I've been here it has taken an excessive amount of time to get a drink. They have a small selection of food but the drink selection is actually pretty good. Also, the staff is pretty short with the customers. As a Navy run facility, I would think that the customer service would be better. For example, one of the waitresses was upset that an individual in our group brought food from somewhere else and was eating it outside on the patio and began cursing at us. Instead of letting us know that the food wasn't allowed, she came in and instantly began dropping the f-bomb and addressing one specific person (who wasn't even the one responsible) telling him to get rid of it. We said we would take care of it and 2 minutes later the manager came out and threatened to throw the food away if we didn't take it to our car. The craziest thing is that the individual who purchased the food didn't know it was against the rules because the signs are on the doors going into the Tradewinds and we were outside on the patio. Seems like a lot of different ways to address this situation without cursing at the patrons. read more

This is what happened to us at Tradewinds on Friday. My friend and I came to have lunch, he ordered an chicken sandwich, when he tried paying with his corporate card, the machine would not accept it, it just said cancelled. The bartender told us this happens on a daily basis, corporate cards and certain cards with banks based in the states don't work. Kind of funny that we used it all over base, NEX, Popeyes, Burger King, why doesn't it work here? anyway the food came and the chicken was totally raw, my friend took it to the bartender who apologized and took it to the manager. This is where it all goes south! The manager comes back and says "sorry about the sandwich but the patty comes frozen" then he starts trying to "educate us" about the cooking process here with a condescending smirk like were some schmucks who never been to a restaurant before. Due to the nature of our jobs, we eat out 100% of the time so I know how restaurants work and how food is cooked thank you! This guy is also a close talker so I could see my friend visibly uncomfortable having his personal space invaded. At this point my friend just wants to leave and I'm done with my meal so he asks for a refund. The guy says ok. He leaves and comes back saying he cant give a refund and that he has to wait till the charge is processed in Tennessee or something, he continues to "educate us" on how the credit card process work. Were here to eat not to get a class in how to cook food and how to process a credit card. What the heck kind of place is this that you cant even get a refund for raw food? The manager then brings a check book with all the bartenders receipts and asks my friend to go though it and pick out his receipt. I have never seen, heard, or experienced anything like this ever. Its like we were teleported to an alternate universe. But wait it gets better, He then tries to convince my friend to get a burger, "don't worry its on the house and ill have the kitchen make it on the fly for you". At this point I just want to get out but my friend is so nice and hungry that he gave the place a second chance. The guy goes into the kitchen and comes back trying to hang out and make small talk with us. In my head I'm like get outta here already cant you leave us alone? It was really strange that the burger came out in like 5 minutes. He dropped off the burger to my friend with that same smirk like he was doing him a favor! He finally left and my friend dived into his burger. He took two bites and was like this tastes off, he lifts the bun and the burger was grey. It made us wonder what did they do to it to get it out so fast? The only thing that was edible was the fries. Its a good thing that guy didn't come back cause I would have thrown that burger in his smirking face. How do you serve raw chicken, not be able to give a refund, serve a nuked burger that I wouldn't feed to my dog, and try to teach us a class in cooking food and credit card processing? Beware! I would give this place negative stars if I could. This place has serious problems with their food and their condescending a-whole manager no wonder why this place is dead! read more
