You can even sign up to take a shot and have one of the staff members slap you afterward... which looked absolutely painful but hilarious to watch. Holu Moly!! How have I never been here before now?! I've lived in the Aiea/ Pearl City area all my life, and have never been to Whiskey Dix until a couple nights ago. We wanted a change up from our normal Saturday nights, and we always come towards home instead of hanging out in Waikiki where we work. On a Saturday night, it was crowded, but not overly so. The bartenders are fast and everyone is so friendly! The line dancing is awesome to watch, but we're going to have to start learning the choreography too! I met the owner/bar tender Michelle at Whiskey Dix last night. What a great place to go if you want to learn how to line dance or swing dance. They have great lessons with really good instructors. We had such a great time, and everyone was really friendly and inviting. The dance floor is set up really well and the bar has a great selection of beers and cocktails. Michelle told me that they make and mix everything in house instead of using pre-made mixes etc. If you want to cut loose and have a great time, Whiskey Dix is the place to go. read more

I have been to many line dance bars in many states and this bar was definately not the best. The staff is somewhat rude. Its a cash only entry which they do not advertise and if their ATM isnt working they send you to the downstairs tattoo shop whose employee will turn you away and you'll then walk two blocks to the 7 eleven passing everyone else in the same boat as you go. They won't let others show you the steps outside the floor. They ignore you at the bar. The dances are fun and they have some classics but unless youre a regular expect no warmth. read more

Got stopped before leaving by one of the bouncers (I think his name was Alex?) because I forgot to tip my bartender. Absolutely unacceptable service, I offered to Venmo them but they didn't accept and started getting active when I was questioning why stop me if you're not gonna take a Venmo, since I didn't have cash on me. Dude was on a power trip and probably just defending his side piece. Either way, will definitely keep me from ever coming back. Which is a shame because the ambiance is actually pretty nice. Normally enjoy this place but bouncer kicked us out for high fiving our friends tonight, and then pushed my friend outside the door and pinched his back even though he was actively leaving. Don't really think we'll be back anymore. We're really calm and friendly people, so this was really out of hand and an over reaction, we respect the bouncers and listen to them and actively were leaving when he decided to flip out. read more

Small group of family and friends wanted to try line dancing and heard they had lessons at this place before the dancing really gets started. Our group ranged from 20 to 50 year olds. Had no idea what to expect and it was a Monday. We had a great time! It wasn't too busy, good crowd and everyone just doing their thing. It was perfect for our group. I started going to Dix because it was the only place on the island for line dancing, but I kept coming back because of the people. Going to bars by yourself when you're a woman can be a little intimidating. Alex was the first person I met at the door, and instantly, it was a friendly welcome. He's the best! And then I met Michelle behind the bar that always greeted me with a smile. And I quickly met a lot of the regulars and saw them every week for dancing. Met the greatest staff and made the greatest of friends at this establishment. The food was good downstairs but the drinks upstairs was reasonably priced especially for Hawaii and the dance floor kept me line dancing all night long. It's so cool to have an authentic country bar out here in Hawai'i. It's gives a small honky tonk vibe and has a really cool country feel. It plays a lot more line dance songs than I'm used to compared to back in Texas, but it's still really fun to jump in try to learn and go along in the line dances. It's only $5 to get it, $5 for a refreshing MoonTang drink...only 10-15$ for a great time! Im biased lol but I'll take this over any overpriced Honolulu club any day! Wednesdays ladies get in free and they have line dance/ partner dance learning session that anyone there can hop in and join. Thursdays I believe it's $25 to get it, but the beers are 25 cents. Wasn't sure what to expect, but here I am on a Friday night at 8pm and my first time stepping in this place. I was definitely out of my element here, felt so out of place. I love me emo music, head banging, booty shaking clubs but a country bar....this is my first time. There was a $5 cover. Of course I was a little turned off having to pay to go in. That same $5 would've been happily spent on drinks instead. =) But here I am. Country music and line dancers on the floor all night long. And I actually had a good time. Listening to music that I don't normally do. I don't know a lick of line dancing but it was really fun just people watching, spinning around, kicking, stomping, just having fun. Some nights, this place is my favorite spot on island. Other nights, depending on the staff working, I'm ready to leave after 30 minutes. Everyone knows that this is a military bar, but the blonde bartender will pretty much only serve/talk to white people. even when you're lucky enough to get her attention, she is 10x slower to pour drinks than anyone else at the bar. and for whatever reason, she also hosts all the games during Whiskey Dix events. I really don't think they should be relaying that kind of message to everyone, unless they specifically only want white, military men to visit. Anyways--I recommend Wednesday nights to everyone! Lessons are a great time, and the staff is incredible on Wednesdays, even when it gets busy. There's more than just country music, so I think everyone has a chance to enjoy the drinks and dancing. Guy who worked the bar this Monday 10/27, is one of the worst bartenders. I've been here a few times and he always makes rude remarks to people. Only time he's nice is when it's 18 yo's asking for water. Whatever his name is need to leave hawaii with that attitude of his and find a new "passion" for a career. read more

My husband and I went here on our a 5 year anniversary. Our expectations were BLOWN away!! The service was absolutely amazing and we made friends with several of the workers. The DJ (Brooke) was our absolute favorite and was very accommodating for our requests. She honestly made this bar THAT much better. Don't ever get rid of her!! My husband wrote a song for me and requested that it was played. The bar arranged for us to have the entire dance floor to ourselves and even recorded our dance for us. Just came here for the first time last night and had one of the worst bars experience of my life. I've been linedancing for 2 years and yet this did not feel welcoming. I guess this was a "home bar" and most of the people there are regulars which i had no idea. As someone visiting I would've expected way nicer people. The workers were very nice but the group of "regulars" totally ruined the entire night. Nothing but dirty looks and even some of the people made it known that this was a bar for "regulars" only. This is truly the best kept secret in Hawaii. I've been going to Whiskey Dix Saloon for almost a year now and from the moment I walked in I felt welcomed! I made my first friend at the door who was a complete stranger she took me in, let me hangout with her group, and we still say hi to each other to this day. The bartender recommended me a "Get Up On Dem Ti**ies" which is my absolute favorite drink now! And I found a passion for line dancing within the dancing community at this bar! I started off with very little knowledge about country line dancing and country swing (I also didn't listen to country music), but through making friends and taking the lessons they offer I was able to learn and fall in love with dancing! The dance community is so supportive of people learning to dance, it's just important to remember that if you aren't dancing to stand off the dance floor because it's a safety concern for the people who are dancing on the dance floor. The sheriffs was amazing when we first walked in. We went on 5/30 friday night and it was fun they played one of the line dances I knew off the bat so that was amazing.
