The canoe hut has been recently renovated over COVID and is a very clean newly refurbished lounge that is comfortable to sit down and relax.

More akin to a hospital waiting room than a bougie airport lounge…read more At the bare minimum it is: clean, neat, and air conditioned. It is not: luxurious, well decorated, cozy, or impressive. This lounge is simply a quiet place to sit and wait for your flight away from the noisy chatter and overhead announcements at the terminal. They have complimentary wifi and outlets to charge your devices. If you snag a seat by the windows you have a lovely view of the garden. There is no food or alcohol. You are also not allowed to eat any food or snacks you bring into the lounge yourself. They do offer some beverages including coffee, tea, juice, water, and some canned sodas. I actually really enjoyed the yummy guava juice they had available! Overall I would not pay money to enter this lounge. If your credit card perks include a limited number of Priority Pass lounge visits I would skip this one. My boyfriend has unlimited Priority Pass lounge access with two free guests as a Ritz Carlton card holder so we lose out on nothing by coming in, but compared to other airport lounges we've visited this lounge definitely leaves a lot to be desired.

This lounge is a massive rectangular room and offers a lot of of seating along with beverages in cans and iced water. It is air-conditioned and is a nice respite away from other portions of the terminal which are open air and can get a little warm depending on the season. We didn't stay very long as the lounge got full very quickly and felt a little crowded so we decided to leave and head to arcade a little early. All in all a nice spot for a quick rest but not somewhere I would find myself staying too long as you are not able to have a private conversation as there is no auditory privacy here. But I do appreciate the cold beverages and a soft, comfy chair.

It is hard to find; look for the tiny sign pointing you to the third floor right next to the local place eatery. The inside is fairly large but someone plain. There are self service soft drinks and a small complimentary liquor selection as well including sparkling wine. Around the corner is the food area which features several hot options including JAL's signature beef curry. This is served to you by an attendant (who was not particularly friendly), but of course you can have as many servings as you wish. Overall this is a rather nice Admirals Club thanks to the JAL influence.

Alternatively, you need to have the right AA credit card or use points to enter. Positives: Nice staff; Good hot food selection; Spacious area w/ relaxing environment. Negatives: The cost. I don't know that any lounge is worth $79.95. United charges $59 and I would not pay that amount directly; The temp in the lounge was warm; There are no seats at the bar; I would return to this lounge if I had a credit card that provides me access. However, I would not spend my own money to gain access here.

I can get on base with my ID card, I can use the exchange/commissary, I can even fly space A within the United States and its territories. Today, I'm flying commercial out of terminal one at HNL, and I go through security, only to find out that the USO is in terminal two outside security. I thought it would be nice if I could grab a bite to eat, and possibly take a shower before my nine hour flight. So I catch the shuttle and I go over there. I ring the bell, and this lady comes to the door. She looks at my ID, and she says I can't let you in. I explained I've used the USO in the past, and I'm even in their computer system. So she looks back to who I assume is the boss, who is making lunch, and says as loud as she can, HEY, JERRY.... I GOT A 100% DISABLED VETERAN! " and of course, a bunch of people look over toward me... Well, that was embarrassing. Jerry, who's making lunch, doesn't even bother to look up. He just shakes his head and waves me off, like.... "Sorry..." I screwed up my body serving this country, and I should be allowed to use the USO. They allow retired military to use the USO, but they are not serving anymore If they have limited funds, and I can't use it anymore like I used to, that's fine. Maybe they could charge a small admission fee for disabled veterans to help cover the cost Regardless, they could be nicer about it. It's nice to know that at least this USO, they treat their veterans as nice as they treat their active duty and retired people..(said with sarcastic overtones...)
