There's a new date spot on the Southwest side! Just wanted to share that Four Seasons Resort Oʻahu at Ko Olina just brought back Five One Six, their rooftop bar, and it's officially open again as of Wednesday, July 3, 2025. Just in time for summer. This place is on the private rooftop of the resort and has unreal views of the Pacific. Perfect spot to grab a drink, catch the sunset, and chill under the stars. It used to be a seasonal pop up, but now it's permanent which is awesome. The vibe? Think speakeasy meets island chill. Super relaxed but still really polished. Great for unwinding, hanging out, and soaking up golden hour with a cocktail in hand. The drink menu is on another level too. A few highlights: Mirror Mai Tai - crystal clear take on the classic, topped with Kauaʻi Koloa Rum and this rich dark foam made from molasses and demerara sugar. Hi State Margarita - spicy and floral, with Hawaiian chili tincture and a hibiscus calamansi foam. Miso Banana Luxe - a buttery, banana y, umami cold brew with Shiro Miso. Sounds wild but it works. It's open Thursday to Saturday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., and you don't need a reservation. It's open to resort guests and non guests (if there's space). If you're looking for a next level sunset spot, this is it.

We thought this was a pop-up bar but after asking the server about it, it sounds like they're here for good. Right now, they're open Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays, from 430-730pm. They're hoping to open up more days. I'd say if you were trying to have a date night on the west side, especially in the Ko'olina resort, it's a super cute place to drop by waiting for dinner. It's exclusively drinks and they do not have any food on the menu. However, they do serve you a little cup of furikake Chex Mix and you know how that always hitssssss. It looks like you're walking to a hotel room but even at the door, you see it's different. Definitely gave off speak easy vibes. The aesthetic in there is very high end and nothing short of what the Four Seasons would go by. Along with the high end drinks, you're paying for the experience and the whole setting is nice and relaxing. They have cute umbrellas and hand out sunglasses to block that sunset glow. Super thoughtful. The servers were super nice and attentive to everything going on. I really enjoyed the new place and def recommend trying it out!

Being in the food industry for many years I believe good food doesn't have to cost that much, and I'd leave most fancy places hungry cause they give you small portions (I'm 6'6. A big dude who loves to eat). While this place is on the pricier end for my taste, I do think it's completely worth it. We ended up here for our anniversary and I think this spot is great for special occasions. It's an intimate atmosphere with live jazz music, the bartender Clark was very knowledgeable about drink recipes, the food was delicious, and the service was amazing. This place was an experience. Not just getting served expensive food. We probably spent $400 that night for 2 people, but thats what you would spend at a nice steak house anyways. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you haven't already.

The bad: we received our "pass phrase" to get in for our reservation, but when we arrived at the telephone door they just asked for our name...defeating the point of a speakeasy experience. Then the waitress had us stand in a very crammed and busy walkway in the pub for 10/15 minutes only to tell us they had no tables available and that we have to sit at the bar (the barstools had no backs and were uncomfortable). It was very loud and small in the actual restaurant, and as they bussed all the other tables dirty plates they were staging them right in front of us at the bar? Not really what I want to look at all night if I'm paying over 130+ per person. Fortunately someone was a no show and they moved us to a table. I recommend stating you want a table when making reservations. The food: our food came out really fast and most of it was top tier and delicious in every way possible! Although, I did not care for the crab and artichoke dip. The crab was shredded and could easily be replicated with canned crab. If it were lump crab/chunky and bigger pieces of artichoke it would be way better in my opinion. The charred octopus was good but one tentacle was very rubbery while the other was soft and cooked well, I wouldn't get this again. The Yacht: hands down the best seafood tower I have ever tried. The seafood was bursting with flavor and most surprisingly it was grilled. The meat was still warm but placed on top of a bed of ice. The variety of lobsters, crab, shrimp, and the oysters were phenomenal. The mignonette and melted butter were perfect. Dutch Veal Chop: possibly the best piece of meat I've eaten in a very long time! The veal charred to perfection and the meat was so tender. The flavors were on point. Desserts: we tried the creme brûlée and butter cake. Again, I think this is my favorite crème brûlée! The flavor, texture and toppings were perfect. The butter cake was warm and melt in your mouth. Gaslamp is very expensive. If you come here knowing it's tucked in the back of a very crammed dive bar, and the actual restaurant it self is tavern-like and you probably can't see half the food you're eating you'll be fine lol. Oh yes, there was also a fire dancer on top of the bar in the middle of our meal, which was pretty cool!

First off, it's just right below the AC Hotel Honolulu, which already gives it that hidden gem feel. There are two areas: the main bar and a speakeasy. Both have access to the full drink menu. My favorite part? The cocktails served in animal shaped glasses, so freaking cute. The turtle one was my favorite The main bar has more of a classy, elegant vibe, while the speakeasy leans tropical, almost tiki-style. Also, no bartenders or servers in that back area but you actually order by marking your drink on a letter and putting it on a mailbox that goes directly to the bartenders... How cool is that? Big shoutout to the bartenders, you guys were amazing!! Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in Honolulu

We happily enjoyed: Taste of aloha- huli huli filet tips, karaage chicken bites, mandoo, ahi dip, and sweet potato chips. Great choice of you can't decide on which appetizer to order. All of these dishes were tasty and perfect with our drinks! Deviled eggs-crispy onion, chives salmon roe, and togarashi. Perfect dish if you're a deviled eggs lover. Drinks- oh pear tree and an old fashioned. Beautiful presentation and you can't really go wrong with any of the drinks on the menu. Great vibes, friendly servers and bartenders.. I'm a fan!

When you arrive here, head to the host stand that is located outside on the outskirts of where the turf grass meets the pavement. Ample open air seating outside, though the day that we went it was warm, and we opted to eat inside by the bar. We made reservations online beforehand just in case. When we were seated inside, there's a few seats at the bar, and also bench/2-top seating on the opposite wall. We were a party of 3, though we were seated next to each other, the gap was rather large, so we physically pushed our tables together. Low cocktail round tables (thus the spacing of the dishes/drinks was a bit awkward later on in the evening). The bartender came by to take our drinks but also asked us if we had reservations, because the area that we were seated in was reserved for another party at a later time. We thought this was strange, because the host up front was the one who confirmed our reservation and sat us in that very spot. Shortly after, the bartender then came back to say that it was ok for us to stay there and then proceeded to take our order. After that occurrence, the service didn't necessarily get exponentially better, but it also wasn't absolutely horrible. **NOTED UPDATE: We were at this establishment in June 2025, these pictures were not taken from 3 years ago. I have nothing to gain by 'lying'** As for the food and drinks, they were much better than we had expected which saved the whole experience of it all. To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.
