It's been a while since we got a burger from here. So I figure I would add a review. Restaurant was nice and quiet when we got in there. Took our order right away from friendly staff.But we got the disheartening new that their shake machine was down and that was one of the main reasons we went to grab a burger from there. So that's what got them the four out of five stars. They ended up giving us a lot more than a large fry.In our bag, as you'll see in the photo. Burgers were amazing as always.Definitely one of our top 3 burger spots in Gainesville. Okay I like five guys, really do so I'm basing this review on taste only, not value. The $30 price tag for two small burgers (single patty), one small drink and one small fry; too much. No, I need to recalibrate my price point, especially recent post Covid years, but still something needs to be stellar to be that expensive, especially for lunch. My winner is still Steak 'n Shake for taste and value. That said, let me get onto some positives about five guys. First off the up to start up with the free peanut. It's a nice touch and laud to have a little appetizer or dessert depending on your taste. The other is the endless fries. Even though we got a small they usually load up the bag with second portion for free. So that increases the value a little bit considering we only had to order one fry for two people. Now for the burgers. Overall still a great burger, but I'm still get a little sticker shock when I come here. No worse than the other burger joints in t Hopdotty or Bugerfi. So if you don't mind a 15-20 for lunch, Five Guys is nothing if not consistent. For the price though, I'm gonna go with Steak 'n Shake from now on. read more

It's been probably 10 years since I've been to a Five Guys. Back in college, I couldn't believe a burger and fries cost so much. Decided to try it again for lunch and yup they are still expensive but man, THAT BURGER WAS GOOD! It may not be $20+ good but definitely enjoyable. I got the cheeseburger and the bun was soft, the burger was juicy, and all the topping tasted FRESH! I liked the crispy outside and soft inside fries. It won't be another 10 years before I come back but I'll have to make sure I work a little overtime so I can afford these burgers. The staff was nice and the order didn't take long at all. We just had the best experience at this Five Guys! The entire crew worked like a well oiled machine. The food was excellent, hot, just as ordered. TJ, Javon, and Sesler were the 3 that helped us and filled our order. Kudos to you 3 gentlemen. Diamonds you all are! Then there was Ashley! So friendly! I had a dentist appointment in the middle of the day, and afterwards since no real work had actually been performed, I was able to eat immediately afterwards. Fortunately, Five Guys was right around the corner so that is where I went. Their menu hasn't changed, of course, but their prices have gone up since the pandemic hit. However, this is not really that bad, since the food that you get for the price is still at a reasonable level. I got myself a nice double with jalapenos, along with some fries. You really don't need to order a large fry at Five Guys, because they have a tendency to fill the fry packaging and then dump the rest of the scoop into the bag as well, so the helping size for a regular fry is always good. For the fast food chains, I consider the burgers you get at Five Guys to be towards the top of the heap in terms of quality and taste, though you do have to pay a bit more than the regular rate to get to that level. read more

I know inflation is a thing, and the prices are set by corporate, but I'm not sure who can afford a burger lunch for 2 for $30+ Folks are still friendly, but not sure of the value. Simply put 5 guys delivers. Not only do they actually have their own delivery service but you can always count on them to deliver a delicious burger. Their menu is simple enough that my 1 and a half year old could understand how to order there. There is nothing flashy or fancy about it and I live them all the more for it. 5 guys promises 2 things; 1. Delicious burgers and 2. Delicious fries. In all seriousness, 5 Guys is just a really good place to get- fresh burgers and fries. They might have other things there, but honestly who cares. It's all about the burgers and they are delicious! A few too many for me. I myself am a Peach Fanta guy. I love that stuff. The bad and ugly are wrapped together on this one: The only thing I can see as a negative to 5 Guys is how much you'll have to pay the cardiologist for stents because you went there too much! If you're looking for a good burger, you can't go wrong with this Five Guys location. The staff are friendly, and very helpful as you try to make choices from the menu. Our fave is the "little" cheeseburger, sometimes adding bacon - basically this "little" burger is bigger than many "big" ones - so unless you are very very hungry, I suggest you start there. A "little" burger and a "small" fries, plus the beverage of your choice should do you just fine. Of course, FG's claim to fame is the extensive list of toppings - you could basically tell them to hold the burger, hold the bun, and still make a meal of the toppings should you feel so inclined. I'm a traditionalist, so I stick to mayo, lettuce and tomato - but I see people around me taking what in Quebec would be called the "all dressed" approach. I must add that they are particularly good at doing burgers-sans-bun . . . When you ask for the bun to be held they check with you to see if it's preference or celiac, and though I'm not sure why they need to know this, we always answer truthfully the latter. You bus your own table here, which is made easy by the fact that everybody's meal is sent out in a brown paper bag - you unpack this yourself at the table. Now, a promise - I keep saying I'm going to try something else on the menu. I see sandwiches and hot dogs and a veggie burger - surely one of these days my hamburger craving will recede and I'll give one of these other options a try. For $14 for a simple burger, fries and drink, I expect a lot more than what I got. Two beef patties that had the life grilled out so much, they were almost mummified. My favorite burger place, ever. I always get a little cheeseburger all the way and add grilled jalapeños. The cheeseburger overflows with goodies, but I take my time and appreciate every bite. The fries always are fresh and a small order is enough for two people. Speaking of fries, since they serve so much, here's a recipe to use them as leftovers. Keep them in the fridge in a zip lock bag until ready. Grill diced onions and pepper in butter, toss in a handful of diced fries, continue grilling until hot. Add salt and pepper, plus a little Tony Chachere Cajun seasoning. While still in the pan form a serving a put a couple slices of cheese on top until it starts to melt. Then move it to your plate. Finish with a couple of eggs, find over light. Between the burgr and this finishing touch, you'll be fat, but happy. read more

I would say that this is the same as any other Five Guys which I always enjoy even though they are a little on the pricey side, I will give this one five stars because: 1) They opened a block from where I work, which could be the death of me. Bam! That was the sound of my arteries slamming shut! 2) Five Guys, Fresh Market, Uppercrust Productions, Northwest Seafoods and Dorn's combine to make this a great shopping center! Also home to Flying Biscuit Cafe, Renaissance Printing and Paddiwhack Gallery, etc. They just opened today and it is quite crowded, so you may want to give it a little time. read more

Jump that up $3-4.00 if you order the regular size of everything. The shakes are on the smallish side AND over $5.00 now. They're good shakes, but they ain't THAT damned good! My mom was telling me about her day and that she had Five Guys for lunch. She was going on and on about how good it was so I decided to have Five Guys for dinner and see for myself. I got a hamburger, banana milkshake, fries and a cup of peanuts. Everything was very good. Thank goodness I ate my food right then and there because if I would have driven the Five Guys hamburger home it would have been a sad soppy mess. Told me it would be 6 minutes that turned into a 20 minute wait. The burger was cold and undercooked. Fries were too oily. The "regular" is a double. be careful! It's huge, and pricey. They also have a "mini" which is a regular patty. I tried the In-N-Out in cali and wasn't that impressed. However, when I tried this 5 Guys location, I left with a very good impression. The unlimited choice of toppings is their trademark and it definitely made the difference in fast food burgers. Initially the simple menu (similar to In-N-Out) will have you wondering what makes this place so special. A hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon hamburger, and bacon cheeseburger are your choices. However, jalapenos, grilled onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, green peppers, relish are some of the topping choices you have. Plus they will put up where they got their fresh potato for the fries from on a dry erase board. Who knows if they ACUTALLY got fresh potatoes but their cajun seasoning on it is crazy addictive. Also to note, that this 5 guys location is in Gainesville, and I did not get this at another 5 guys in Orlando.....maybe its the college employees that don't care. It seemed like they put the fries carton in the bag, then just super scooped the fries in the bag. It was overflow of fries but enough to share around for the cheap friends that didn't buy fries. So at this location, I get the regular fries......and it usually ends up something more of an x-large in the bag. read more

I'm from California and so I compare every burger to In-n-Out's burgers (which I previously thought were the best I had ever had). Anyway after eating here a few times I'm convinced think Five Guys' burgers are the best in the world! Their meat and toppings are delicious. Gotta' give it up for Five Guys! Probably the finest burger chain in the East Coast (so long as Danny Meyer's Shake Shack has very limited locations and In-n-Out Burger remains exclusively West Coast). The burgers are of the "Smash-n-Scrape" variety on a white, seeded, sesame bun that is usually squished, and additionally steamed, in a foil package (making the lettuce wilted and the tomatoes warm so if you order it for take-out...ask for them on the side and skip the subsequent, crappy, one-star review complaining that your veggies were wilted when you got back to the office). These burger are well above average and other, lesser, fast food establishments certainly cannot compare. To state that the burgers at Hardees or Burger King are "just as good" is....misguided. It's not all paradise though; their fries, consistently soggy, are horrendously overrated. I always skip them (though the wife really enjoys them). However as far as the burger, proper, Five Guys is currently my favorite burger option in town. read more

Went to the 16th street location today, the music is way too loud, they have good food but unbelievably over priced. Cannot believe they will prosper, many competitors offer far more for lower prices. Piesanos, Ruby Tuesdays, Jason's Deli and Red Robin are better values for my dollar. We went in around 4 PM and were the only customers, three more couples came in while we were there. Comparing to the "big 3" chain burgers: There is no real comparison, Five Guys blows them out of the water. Comparing to In-N-Out: In-N-Out isn't quite as good, but it's cheaper. So Five Guys wins if you can afford it. Comparing to local/mom and pop burger places: Win against most, lose against some. It depends on the place. Comparing to places that don't serve boxes of self-serve peanuts: Why does Five Guys do this? It's such a catch-22. I really want the peanuts, but it's such a pain in the ass to eat them. Is it okay to throw the shells on the floor? Should I throw away each shell one by one? I guess they are improving because now they at least have the paper trays to put them in, but I still mill around awkwardly eating peanuts while waiting for my food. Comparing to places that serve food on trays instead of soggy paper bags: I mean, this is a loss on all fronts. It's not like this place is in a shopping mall food court, and they don't even have a drive thru, so why is a bag my only option? I can see having a bag for a to go order, but it's ridiculous that bagged food can still somehow ruin my clothes. I have only been to Five Guys in town once because they are everywhere around here and I try to reserve them for a quick and safe place when I'm out of town. My neighbor mentioned five guys. I had never eaten there. So I went to try it. The burger was OK, I'm not sure it was worth the price. The fries are really good. And I don't know why they call that a shake; has no ice cream in it.
