Came here the other day for the first time with my nephew. He's been here a lot and wanted to go so I figured why not. Have been wanting to try this place anyways. So I ended up ordering the bacon burger with everything on it, a mini burger with everything on it, medium fries and a drink. After ordering, I did notice they did have self serve peanuts. I love peanuts. So before my food even came out, I started going to town on the peanuts. What a great way to start a meal. When my food came out, I took the first bite out of my bacon burger and dayum was it good. The meat was super juicy to the point where it wanted to fall apart, the bread was super soft, but more importantly, the bacon was super crispy. I hate it when you get a bacon burger, comes out and the bacon is soft and soggy. That was not the case here. The bacon was legit. With every bite, I had a super crunch to it from the bacon. This was an excellent burger. I would definitely come back and order this again. The mini hamburger was very good as well but I really didn't think much of it as it seemed like any other burger to me. At the same time, remember I just ate a large bacon burger right before I ate this so that might explain things a little. Either way, like the bacon burger, the meat was super juicy. The fries, well, they're fries. They're not super crunchy like some other place we all know and weren't soft like others. Overall a decent fry. Came here after being frustrated with Sonic and the poor guys just had someone come in steal their tip jar and then the cash registers went off line. They guys were super nice, asked if we could order off of their app but started our hamburger patties cooking so we didn't have to wait. They gave us two free drink cups for the inconvenience and we super thankful for understanding but honestly it was them who were very accommodating with the current circumstance. I went to this Five guys about a week ago and ordered a little bacon cheeseburger but instead was given a cheeseburger without bacon. I just decided to eat it as-it and not call to complain because I understand mistakes happen. I decided to go back tonight for dinner and I ordered my little bacon cheeseburger. I brought the food home and began to eat when I realized there was no bacon. I called Five Guys to tell them what happened but they said they could only help me if I drove back with my receipt which I wasn't inclined to do because it was inconvenient and I just wanted to stay with my family and eat dinner. I'm disappointed with this location and its inability to get my order right. Their fries are definitely in my top 3, so good. Service is always spot on and they always make my order correctly. You can't really go wrong with a burger, or hot dog, you can fully customize. If you have a small appetite, you can always order a "little" burger. Even though they're considered small, they're still very filling. Weirdly enough I'm not a "burger person", but their burgers are delicious. Very moist and well done. The ingredients they use seem really fresh as well. The times I've ordered jalapenos or green peppers, they look and tasted very fresh. As far as their fries go, they're amazing!! Definitely one of the very worst eateries in Fullerton. Ordered a hamburger with everything and fries. The only thing on that stale, soggy ass bun was a patty and a piece of old wilted lettuce, at least I think it was lettuce. It tasted like something that had been dug out of a swamp. The fries were even worse. They looked and tasted like they were boiled in used motor oil, dark brown, soggy and crappy tasting. Either they never change their cooking oil or they are using dirty motor oil to cook with. Whatever it is, don't take a chance. When I can't finish a little hamburger and an order of fries, there's a major problem. I just dumped half a hamburger and all but one half of a fry, and just wrote it off as a lesson. Burgers tasted home, good and fresh. What I really enjoyed here was the free unlimited shelled peanuts that were available. Although I felt it didn't match with the burgers, I enjoyed them just the same. Some of the friends I was having lunch with felt, they were a little bit pricey. However they had lots of different toppings at no additional charge, this could be the reason for the slightly higher price, along with the free unlimited peanuts. Had the veggie burger and was surprised how good it tasted and how filling it was. The price is great for such a good veggie burger. The fixings include grilled onions, mushrooms,bell peppers and lettuce. You can also get cheese of course. If your calorie watching leave out the cheese and the veggie sandwich is under 500 calories. The food here is great but EVERY TIME I come here, every single time, the drink machines don't work right. There are two and somehow they're either both depleted of most flavors or just plain don't work at all. It's really hard to enjoy the food when you can't get anything to drink and you don't find out until after you've forked out $2.50 for a 20 oz. cup. These people need to figure out how to maintain their drink machines. I'm not coming at some off-the wall hours or anything unreasonable, it's only 30 minutes before the lunch rush. If the drink situation wasn't such a ridiculous travesty they would easily be getting a 5-star review, especially considering the fact that their burgers make In-N-Out's burgers look like dried out trash and you can get awesome toppings like mushrooms and A1 steak sauce instead of the insidious and disgusting concoction In-N-Out pedals as "Spread"--that junk doesn't even belong on a salad. That being said the prices are just awful. As much as I dislike In-N-Out, even I would probably rather pay under $2 for one of their crappy, dried-out burgers than spend upwards of $6 for the most meager offering here. Ohh Five guys. You are like a termite invasion slowly working yourself westward. Five guys was kinda cool when you could only find them on the East coast. This wasn't my first venture with them (had them one late night in DC), but honestly I couldn't remember what the burger tasted like. So it was pretty big news (back in 2011) when Five Guys was moving in just down the street from where I was going to school. They have the right concepts going: 1) Free peanuts that you can freely discard onto the floor. These also happen to be swept up with amazing speed. Almost too quick that I feel guilty putting them on the floor. [This was back when they first opened. Not sure if the quality of service has changed since] 2) Additional toppings at no cost. Take your choice of: Mayo, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, Grilled Mushrooms, Ketchup, Mustard, Relish, Onions, Jalapeno Peppers, Green Peppers, A.1. Steak Sauce, BBQ Sauce, and Hot Sauce. 1, 2 or all of them--it is your burger to customize. But when I had the burger, the one word that came to mind was forgettable. I went to 5 guys again last night. This time tried the Bacon Cheese Burger with the works. Pretty tasty burger, although a bit messy when they pile up all of the fixings on there. The Fry's are jumbo. Even munched a scoop of peanuts while we waited for burgers. Good for a burger fix when you need one. I'm extremely torn on how to rate this place. I wish I could rate this as this would be A-ok had I ordered better but as it stands I've had better. 2.5 My bacon cheeseburger which I had topped with tomatoes, pickles and ketchup was sub-par, drenched in too much ketchup, 2 unripe tomatoes and 5 of the most horrible excuses for a pickle I have ever put in my month; I was quickly tearing apart my burger to strip it as close to cheese, meat and bread as possible. My BF stuck to his new burger place rule, do not order toppings just have burger, cheese and bacon the first time so you can really judge the place. This is a smart rule which I plan to remember from now on. His double bacon cheeseburger was pretty close to fantastic. A lot better seasoned than mine and it held together much longer than mine seeing as it wasn't drowning in condiments. He really enjoyed his burger, spouting blasphemous phrases like, "yeah it's better than in n out"(which I assure you as cute as he is and as much as I love him he couldn't be more wrong). In closing I just wanted to say this place is greasy, this might have been ok for 18 year old Katie and possible 20 something Katie, but the almost 30 year old Katie that is writing to you now is suffering for her lunch choice. When I first enter the restaurants they had boxes of peanuts. I guess its self service. Free nuts! Go Nuts! When I first enter this place there was only one other person inside eating and no one in line ordering. Being my first time, I was trying to figure out the menu. The cashier wasn't really helpful, she just let us stare at the menu for a while. I came in this restaurant knowing nothing about it except for they had good burgers. Well apparently they had a burger and a little burger, and choices of unlimited toppings and condiments that you can put in your burger. I got the regular cheese burger, thinking the little one was like a kids size. So my friend and I each ordered a burger and then a large cajun fries to share. Holy Moly, damn that is a huge beast of a burger, with thick double patty too. After eating 1/4 of my burger. I was like I can't eat this mediocre burger anymore. The large fries were like super size too. I dont know why they called it cajun fries, taste like they just put some Lawry's seasoning salt. We had a lot of food left over probably should of shared a burger and gotten small fries. That would save us from throwing the food away, and the money. I typically don't eat fast food, but I kept hearing how much better Five Guys was than In N Out (which I don't like very much), so during a busy day of errands I gave them a try. I have to say, the service was outstanding. Having not ever been there before, the folks at the counter really gave me the run down of Five Guys ordering logistics. My big issue is sort of a two fold, its the calories. I completely appreciate that they list the calories on the menu; however my burger and fries was over 1000 calories. Insane. They could EASILY make both of those items for under 1000 calories, but choose not to do so. Regardless, I ate my meal and felt disgusting afterwards. Hi, if you're going to offer curbside pickup you need to staff your restaurant enough so they can answer the phone. I spent almost 10 minutes trying and failing to get someone to answer the phone and ended up having to walk in to get my order (luckily I brought my mask with me). This is not on the staff, by the way -- they were busy and there was only one cashier. Management, you can't offer a service and then not provide the staff and infrastructure to support it. read more

So last week I decided to give Five Guys another try. While consistency is important, I don't think it ever does a restaurant justice to review them based on one experience. Although the price and selection still aren't the best, I have to say that I was impressed that on my second time around a lot of the things that initially bothered me (see my previous review) had been fixed. For one, my husband and I arrived a little before the restaurant opened, but a smiling girl came and told us to come on in early. There were plenty of workers to get the orders out fast, everything was clean, and they let me have my puppy on the outside patio. The music outside was REALLY loud again- until a visiting manager asked them to turn it down without being prompted by anybody. My burger was wrapped differently from my last visit- now kept perfectly intact and much easier to eat. The fries were not over seasoned. I still have the same complaint over the jalapenos being basically raw, but I'll just stop ordering them. There was a man at the restaurant who seemed to be either corporate or a general manager who was on the patio with another manager discussing the restaurant and how the employees could improve. My husband thought it was tacky that they were doing this where customers could hear, but I thought it showed that they're really putting a concerted effort into improvement and give them kudos. read more

I've heard some great things about this place so once they opened one here I had to try it. First of all it was convenient because I was able to place my order thru my phone and it was ready when I arrived!! You can custom create what you want, and expect ur editing for you rest to satisfy your hunger. The cheese is REAL cheese, not that other fake stuff, the meat is juicy, and the produce crisp & fresh. They serve Coke products not Pepsi, if that matters to you. Also, no wi-fi, but you get free peanuts!!!! Their patio is covered and plenty of tables. Definitely worth a try if you're craving a burger!! A lot of folks like to compare Five Guys with In-and-Out but I prefer to rate them on the location, service, quality perceived or realized, and general ambience. This store is located close to CSUF and that makes it convienient for students as it increases the fast food choice factor. I would think that the location works fine with the general public also (corner, edge of a strip mall, major streets). The counter staff and the bus service is top notch (opening week has to be). Everyone is friendly and helpful. When you order, you are given a number. You may stand inside or outside to wait for your order but I found no singe comfortable place to wait. As you stand inside, you are very close to patrons that are trying to enjoy their burgers. The restaurant's inside is crowded with tables and chairs to maximize customer seating; there is a similiar situation outside. I imagine the logistics will right themselves in time. But on the plus side, while you wait Five Guys has complementary peanuts. Not a bad touch. The regular burger is a double and it comes with all condiments, including sauteed mushrooms. My complaint here is that while I enjoy the condiment selection, the bun does not appear to be baked, in such a fashion, to hold them on the bun. About half way through I began with a fork. The bun was getting soggy and less appealing as time moved forward. The fries were very good and were overflowing. One order, this opening week, was enough for two people, easily. I'll come back later in the weeks to come to see if that french fry situation has changed. AsI said earlier, the location, service, and food quality are fine. I have a problem with the lack of a waiting area and the quality of the platform for the burger. Maybe it comes from the fact that each burger is wrapped in foil. At any rate, Five Guys is good but not great at this time. As a new entry into this "everyone has a burger" market, I expected something more...not more of the same. I was super excited when we saw that they had opened a new Five Guys location in Fullerton as we do not have one close to where I live in Anaheim (have since opened Cypress which is a good location). We decided to give this place a try as me and my wife, are both big fans of the place. Upon walking in everything appeared to be fine, however once the orders were placed the ineptness of the staff here really came out. We ordered our usual of two Little Bacon Burgers as well as a regular order of Cajun Fries to share. The wait seemed a bit longer than normal but not ridiculously long. We picked up the food and began to eat. The burger I received at this location did not taste as if it was cooked correctly, it was far greasier than normal and had far more pink throughout the patty than I am accustomed to from here. The Cajun Fries were good as usual and that was the saving grace for me. The staff here although friendly seemed completely out of place and lost. Numerous people ordered and then just stood around waiting for their food to come out. Several orders were bagged and sitting on the side near the fry station and no orders were being called out. Finally a guy emerges from the back and begins calling out numbers. Low and behold the food items in the bag were incorrect and had to be sent back. They also were not checking the numbers of the people picking up their food and a couple guys came in and picked up an order without placing one. This left a very angry customer as he did not receive his order and had to wait another 10 plus minutes for them to remake it. The guy making the fries and handing out the order appeared to have some sort of vision issue as he had to practically hold the receipt to his face to see the numbers to call out. I feel bad but perhaps he would be better suited at preparing the food and not having to squint to see the numbers on the receipts or punch items into the register. After everyone finally received their food they had a leftover bag of food that they continually walked to everyone asking if it was theirs. This became ridiculous after they were adamant that it belonged to one couple sitting outside who already had their food (after returning it twice for correction). They continually told the worker that was not their food and he was clearly getting agitated with them. This order was still sitting by the fry station on the counter when we finally finished and left for the day. I really hope this food was not given to someone after it had been tossed around and handled by so many people already. Overall the food was decent but the service here left much to be desired. They may need to retrain the entire staff. I will definitely come back to Five Guys but more than likely not to this location. read more

So my east coaster friends keep recommending to me five guys as competition to in-n-out. Having eaten here several times now on their insistence my reaction is an resounding meh. There's nothing exactly wrong with the burgers and the infinite toppings thing is nice. But the burgers taste average (heck even boardwalk across the street is tastier) Their fries are really tasty for about 5 minutes and then they melt into a soggy salty mess. Also they're really expensive for essentially fast food burgers. I think if the east coast wants to import food here they should give us their pizza and keep their burgers. read more

I've been a fan of Five Guys since I tried their burgers a couple of years ago so I'm so glad this one popped up in my hood. While their burgers are not the same as In N Out, they are equally great and more decadent. Order their standard cheeseburger and it will come with double patties and loaded with toppings including mushrooms and grilled onions . . and all at no extra charge. The patties are grilled fresh to order and all the ingredients look and taste fresh. I also love their fries which comes in cajun and regular (which I prefer). A place that prides itself on informing us where the potatoes are grown, deep fries same imported spuds from Idaho, and serves them in a sealed paperbag so that the steam turns whatever crispness into mushy starch? Minus points. Prides itself on freshness however serves Ice Tea out of a fountain? Minus points. Sticking Sweet and Low out near said nasty tea fountain and calls it sugar? Minus points. As the counter guy said, if you want sweetener, just use the sweet tea fountain tap. No, thanks! Soggy buns (as others have pointed out). Minus points. How do they pull off that great feat? They must steam soft while in that foil wrap. A non-red meat option (grilled cheese, really? You couldn't add a turkey burger or BOCA patty option?) for those that don't eat red meat? Minus points. Peanuts? Why? Maybe so that when you eat only half of the soggy bun burger and mushy starch served here that leaves you hungry, you add peanuts so that it disguises the hunger pains upon leaving. Gotcha... If this were a Mom and Pop place instead of corporate funded mega-burger joint, I am guessing it wouldn't survive. In-N-Out has is gonna be sweating. That burger was delicious! The meat was juicy and much larger & thicker than In-N'-Out's wimpy patties. all the veggies were crisp (try it with their fresh Jalepenos) & the Cajun fries kicked my ass! I love the customizable toppings & at $5.19 for the regular double patty cheeseburger.. very reasonably priced. Regular fries are $2.69 but you only need one order for two people... they give you a TON! Did I mention the free peanuts while you wait? I ordered online & my food was there ready for pick-up on time & the place was slammed. The outside patio was nice & clean & they played cool old 70's-80's rock & new wave over the PA. Five Guys opened up in Fullerton. The burgers available are hamburgers, cheeseburgers, or those same ones with bacon added. There are also hot dogs and hot dogs with bacon and/or cheese. The cool thing about this place is the burgers are customizable with additions such as mayo, relish, onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, A1Steak Sauce, BBQ sauce, or hot sauce. The burger I had was really juicy and the quality of meat was surprisingly nice. I've been to other Five Guys and comparatively, the ingredients were really fresh when I went today and the service was good. That may be because they just opened. The french fries were good, but a little bit on the salty side. The regular burger has two patties in it and the little burger has one patty. The peanuts are free. read more

Alright, it's 6 PM in the evening and I've got a craving for some fast food to get me going. First thought is In N' Out, but my friends suggest an alternative to the status quo of quality burgers: Five Guys. Closest one was this one next to Cal State Fullerton, of course. Walk in, you've got all the placards and signs that give out blurbs of the supposed quality of their products, and it kind of makes you wonder if it's a tad bit too self-indulging. I ordered a selection that would be an equivalent of what I usually take out at In N' Out, the only real comparison in SoCal: Cashier rings up a cheeseburger with lettuce, grilled onions, mustard, and jalapenos, along with "Oh hey, Cajun fries, let's try that" and a regular drink. One little surprise was the price, a little over 10 dollars! If I were paying over 10 dollars for a small quick dinner, I was hoping it would be at least incredible, after excluding any comparison to that one place *cough*. First thought, the shredded lettuce is kind of faulty to a degree, half of it falling out over the course of the meal. Second strike is that the "spicy" jalapenos are not spicy... at all. I don't know what kind of jalapenos they are buying, but I am expecting my mouth to burn with a flare of heat but they had all the strength of a smoldering ember. Last comment on the burger is the meat quality. Either they overcook their meat or the quality of it is very dry and slightly bland in flavor. Their cajun fries, however, almost make up for the burger in a way. They are crisp, seasoned very well, and the amount you get for 3 dollars is more than generous. But overall, the fries are very much worth more than you would have expected. The burger only would get 2 stars, but the fries push the rating up to a reasonable 3 stars. Leaving the place, I can't help but think that I should have eaten half of the burger, and all of the fries instead of the other way around. read more

Good burgers & lots of fries :) You can't compare Five Guys to In N Out... Thats like comparing Buca di Beppo to Maggiano's (same food, different styles & tastes). By the way, the "regular" comes with two patties and the the "little" comes with one (just an FYI) read more

When in the world did they open a Five Guys in Fullerton? Have I been missing out this whole entire time? Either way, hello Five Guys and welcome to OC! I ordered the mini cheeseburger as I've learned in my last DC trip that the normal cheeseburger is gigantic and really just way too much for me. I love the choices and toppings that can be added to any of the burgers. My small fries order was also 2x the size of the cup the serve it in, all thrown in the brown paper bag. Yummie crispy fries fried in peanut oil. I feel bad for the follow peanut-allergic folks who can't savor and relish in this delightfulness. They also have peanuts in bulk...as if we're at a bar. Yum. The price for a cheeseburger and small fries was just under $8. A little too much for my taste buds who are still loyal to In-N-Out's animal style and secret sauce, even though I wish they added grilled mushrooms. read more

I know it is fast food, but I was hoping for something better than what I got. Cheeseburger? Not even as good as Carls Jr. or In-N-Out. And who wants to eat a burger that has a bun that has been squished down so much, it isn't even bun-like any more? Because that is what you get when the geniuses here wrap it in tin foil. Hey, dumb-dumbs! When you squish the foil together so that it stays on the burger, it squishes everything IN the foil as well. So stop doing that. Idiots. That is why no one else uses foil - use paper or put it in a box of some sort. Fries - also blah. And customer service? Lame. We walked in and walked up the register and the guy there just stared at us. I said "hi" and the guy...still just stared at us. That is some terrific customer service training in action. read more

I recently moved back to Fullerton and was happy to see a few new fast food joints and restaurants pop up around the university. My friend told me a Five Guys opened nearby so considering I never had it, I definitely had to try it. While I might be in the overall minority, I didn't really see what the all the hype surrounding Five Guys was. The free peanuts was cool but the burger and fries itself was just okay to me. The fries were way too salty for my taste and the burger didn't really have any flavor. Maybe I should have added more bacon or something since bacon makes everything better. Honestly, I just feel like my friends and I have made better burgers at our barbeque's. Maybe I'll come back to give it a second chance, but probably not anytime soon with In-n-Out five minutes away. read more

I heard about all they hype, I thought I would give it a try. Went in at 1:00 pm , crowd was light. We ordered for two cheeseburgers, fries and drink. She said that will be $21.40, I could believe it!!! REALLY for burgers and fries. The burger was good, the fries suck! I will stick with In N Out, just as good for away better price. read more

After seeing Five Guys Burgers and Fries popping all over the place, I decided to meet up with one of my friends for a lunch date here. All I have heard about Five Guys is that they're the best burgers around and one of the best burger joints in Fullerton. I beg to differ. The décor was simple though at this particular store it felt a bit too much due to the small space. The bags of fries and boxes of peanuts crowded the inside though I understood it's purpose was to separate the dining area with the line. The outside patio was nice though and it was nice of them to put up the red tent due to the rainy weather we have been having. After ordering the Bacon Cheeseburger, Cajun fries, and a regular drink (totaling to a little over $10) I received a foil wrapped ball and a cup of fries. Upon unwrapping the foil I saw a burger that was already falling apart. The crown of the bun was slipping off the burger, while the meat patty itself was crumbling. Having been working in a fast food joint for the past 2 years, it was quite a disappointment when I can say that our burgers looks a lot better than what was in front of me. Nonetheless I pushed forward and began to chow down on my food. The taste of the burger was alright. I liked how the bacon was crispy but not overcooked but other than that the overall burger had no real taste to it. It was disappointing really. Fortunately my mood lit up a bit with the Cajun fries. They were tasty but definitely not the best Cajun fries I have ever had. They were slightly soggy and it felt like they have been sitting out for a while. Overall, Five Guys Burgers and Fries was okay. Would I come back here for lunch again? Probably, but it wouldn't be my first choice for a burger joint. read more
