The best thing about getting a burger here is that all the basic burger toppings other than cheese or bacon are free. In addition to the regular stuff like lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mayo etc., you can get toppings like grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalepenos, A1 all for free (and as many as you want, you could get all of it if you wanted!) The burgers themselves regularly are double patty and pretty darn delicious. It definitely curbed my burger craving and didn't leave me absolutely stuffed. The regular fries are good too. We got a large order and it fed the 5 of us (4 of them being 21 year old males, which was impressive.) I love that they have malt vinegar next to the condiments, you don't see that offered many other places. I would definitely come here again, it's 6 bucks for a burger which beats out Dickie Jo's for pricing. The reason I'm giving 4 stars though is because I wish they offered fry sauce. Have been wanting to try this place out for awhile and finally did....I wasn't disappointed. I got the small cheeseburger and it was VERY filling. First and LAST time we will ever eat at one. My husband went there two nights ago for the first time to get us some burgers. There were 4 young guys working their, and not a one had any manners. Instead, since the place was empty, they thought it would be funny to be rude to my husband about the ordering process. Then when the food was ready (to go bags), the guy behind the counter thought is was funny to place one bag at a time in front of my husband, announcing each time that it is a burger and fries. All done in a rude, cheeky manner. Then the food. The food was uneatable. It was soaked in grease to the point that the bun was falling apart, and grease was pouring out of the burger. I've had a couple of bad experiences at the one on 7th, mainly to do with orders being wrong and rude customer service, but I have to amend my review and say that there service has improved and was probably being brought down by a few bad apple's. With the exception of a couple most everyone there is friendly, engaging and ready to help. If they mess up an order they immediately make it right with a side of empathy. We gave them another try tonight. I think the small burger gets lost in the bun. Hard to taste the beef. Plus, burgers here are well done. The fries are plentiful, but they are not crispy. As other reviewers have noted, the topping choices cover everything you'd want. We ordered jalapenos and received fresh raw slices of jalapeno, not pickled ones. We think that a smaller bun would show off the burger better for those of us who don't want to eat doubles. And we know everyone likes sliders. We prefer the burgers from the food cart near Ninkasi to anything we've had at 5 guys. We like the flavor of Dickie Joe's and the generous amount of meat they serve, but beware - if you order 'a little pink' there your thumb will go right through the bottom of the bun. read more

My first time to Five Guys I have always wanted to come to this place for a long time and finally got to with my boyfriend lol. First of all it was wonderful all the way around. The burgers are amazing I got double patty HB and it was so good. I got mayo onions and pickles on it. Was just good. The fries are great and it's so cool they have peanuts there you can have too ha ha. The place was clean the atmosphere is really nice and just calm. The service was great they are so friendly and do such an amazing job at making these wonderful burgers and fries. The bathroom was clean too really great. Wow-- so incredibly rude and unprofessional!!!! :-( We like Five Guys as we can always expect good food and good service-- or so we thought. We are not Review fanatics, in fact I have never even done a single review myself. Tonite we went in for a quick burger on New Years Eve. They closed and 7 pm, which we walked in the door a few minutes before 7. I apologized and asked if we could still get service, which we were told Yes. We ordered bacon cheeseburgers and we informed that they didnt have any bacon. Strange, with such a small menu offered to run out of a key ingredient, but fine. We ordered burgers and Cajun fries, our normal fare. We got our food in the normal amount of time. Burgers were fine, but the fries were so heavily spiced that we could barely eat them-- my mouth is still burning almost 2 hrs after we ate them. And they were not very fresh, either. Oh, well, not worth complaining. We had just gotten our food unwrapped when the guy behind the counter yelled out to the entire restaurant "OK, we are wrapping it up, so finish up!" We were rather shocked but figured he was goofing around and surely we would be allowed to eat our meal since we were allowed to order.... The girl cleaning the dining area started sweeping vigorously , sending up a cloud of dust and peanut shells all around our table, and dragging metal chairs all over the tile floor so loudly that we couldn't even talk to each other. I almost asked her to stop but let it go. We hadn't even started into our fries when the guy behind the counter yelled loudly again that we needed to "Clear the Lobby, we are closed and you need to leave!!! DO YOU HEAR ME???" It wasn't even 15 minutes past closing and we were maybe halfway done with our meal! We hadn't had our food more than 5 minutes. We left our food on the table, and walked towards the door, and told them that we were pretty shocked at being kicked out of a restaurant that had barely closed-- we eat out all of the time and never has that EVER happened to us. We were the last to get our food and tried to eat as fast as we could. All three employees were combative and disrespectful, but the worst by far was Alex. He was rude and condescending--- we cant imagine having an employee like that. If we were not going to be able to eat our food, they should have told us at the time of ordering. It would have been far more professional to at least go around nicely to each patron and tell them unfortunately they needed to close the lobby soon-- not yell at the whole restaurant. Then when we tried to wrap up our food to leave they got combative, so we left it. Not the Five Guys experience we had in mind-- we wont be back there, and may not even go back to any locations after this incident. read more

Here's my strategy for eating burger and fries without feeling uncomfortably full: no buns, share the fries (unless they're spicy or sweet potatoes, then I'm willing to risk the consequences). It works for me since I can enjoy the flavors without feeling like I need to be rolled out of the burger joint. I like that a fast food burger joint can serve a bunch of lettuce around the meat and not wince at me. I like that they put the liquid condiments on little containers for me so that I can put as much mustard or ketchup I like for my lettuce burger without dripping it all over the place. I also decided on the little hamburger, since one meat patty is really all I need. The whopping amount of fries from a regular order is perfect for sharing. The bulk peanuts is a new phenomenon for me; though I don't get why it would be in a burger place, it does make Five Guys unique in that manner. The simple menu selection gives me an impression that they want to focus on doing their burgers right. And it's actually quite decent. They are one of the very few fast food joints that I'd definitely return to. read more

My teen insisted we try 5-Guys, we ate there in Spring 2013. I wasn't impressed, fries tasted good but far too greasy. The burger was so-so, nothing special, kinda bland, and too greasy. The portions are big, I couldn't finish my burger or fries, and that wasn't only due to the overly generous use of oil. I felt bloated and yuck after our lunch. The counter staff was friendly but not helpful answering our questions, he didn't know how to describe the difference between the "Little" burger and the "Burger", the menu didn't specify, and his accent was so strong we couldn't really understand what he was saying, and so we ended up not ordering what we had actually wanted(we later discovered the regular "burger" is 2 patties, the "Little burger" is 1). Regardless, it wasn't an awful experience nor terrible food. I just wasn't happy enough with the food to eat there again or recommend it. Far too many better burgers in the Eugene area to repeat one that was "Meh". But my teenager loves 5-Guys. So to each his own, I guess. read more

Yeah. So my son has been asking if we could go to five guys for about a month now. I finally broke down tonight, thought I'd give myself a break from cooking. So we order and we decide to split a shake. Figure, might as well go all out right? So dude hands me this shake that was pretty much liquid!! They are busy and I take the food and we leave. It almost felt warm! Not a huge issue, but dude saw what he handed me and didn't seem to care. Why would he? Hell, it's only bout $5.00 for that tap water shake. We tossed it. And of course then I'm pissed I didn't say something to him. Didn't want to ruin my kids "five guys experience". But, it wasn't cool (actually room temp) at all. That will be my last visit there. This place is obviously trying to supplant In n Out, but falls woefully short- The Burgers are about the same size but cost about 40% more, the food was cold and there were not enough toppings to make it taste good. The fries are better than average but horribly overpriced and kind of greasy. I would not waste your time, you can bet better bigger burgers are Red Robin and bottomless frys. read more

Only fast food burgers that give them a run for there money is in &out & we don't have those here. Really! If this is the best burger in town, then we're in trouble. Doughy bun, similar to a discount bread store offering. Raw onions were cut in chunks, so they fall out of the burger. Why not a nice slice of raw onion? Double patty of beef that is tasteless. No beef flavor at all. And the cheese? Was is fake, was it Velveeta, sure not a nice cheddar. This was our first time at Five Guys. It was nice that you get to pick your own toppings for your burger. It reminded me of In and Out where there are only a few things to pick from on the menu. The hamburger was really good. The fries were good too but word of advice, just get the small. If you order a small fry you get a cup of fries and then extras at the bottom of the paper bag. My husband ordered a regular size fry and it literally filled half a paper bag. We ended up throwing away a ton of fries. I would recommend ordering a regular size fries if you are sharing with about 2-3 other people. All in all I would definitely go back. read more

I come here about once a month. I have no complaints whatsoever about the food or the service...most of the time. I came in tonight & placed an order, and right in the middle of my ordering the woman at the grill interrupted me to tell the person who was taking my order that the fries were going to take awhile. The person taking my order reiterated that to me, so I knew...& I was fine with it. I was seated no longer than 1 minute when the counter person called my number...for my son's milkshake! I waited at least another at least another 10 mins for my order, which was fine...but, by then the shake was melted & runny. I started to leave, but decided I was going to ask for a fresh shake, which they happily provided. I can remember ordering a shake before & they did the same thing...gave it to me right away. I guess the fry thing made this time more noticeable. Also, if the shake were for me, I would be sitting there drinking it, but it wasn't. Five Guys...you should change your policy to give the shakes when the order is ready for to go orders. For me, I'll just ask them to make the shake when the burgers are done. I wanted to like this place after having it recommended to me by a friend. Unfortunately, the burger (regular hamburger with mayo, mustard, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes and jalapeños) was terrible. It was generously sized but way overcooked and nearly inedible. The jalapeño was thinly sliced but raw. I was expecting pickled jalapeño slices. The fries and burger cost over $9 and for that price, I can get much higher quality and tastier food here in Eugene. Additionally, the food gave me diarrhea almost immediately, I had to rush home to deal with that. Ugh, never going back. read more
