The servers were friendly and attentive. Probably 3-4 different people checked in multiple times throughout the meal. Where I struggle is with the actual burger itself. As a non-resident New Yorker, for me $22.50 is a lot to spend on a burger and fries. It needs to rock my world at that price point. And it just didn't. I got the B&B Burger. The onion ring tasted like it had been refried a second time to make my burger. The bread was crumbly like it was on the verge of going stale. The actual beef patty itself was decent - good flavor. Usually I can overlook an okay burger if the fries are top notch, but these fries were under-seasoned and also 'just okay'. I also got a side of Chicken Tenders. These were good - no complaints here. I really wanted to like this spot, but not sure this would be a return visit for me.

Video after video of the sandwich being dunked in the equally-famous "au jus" gravy that had my mouth watering. But I live in Westport, Connecticut, and though I go into Manhattan a lot (I used to live in the East Village), a rarely have a reason or need to go to Brooklyn, and I know few people there, so my wish to sample a Brennan & Carr roast beef has gone unrealized. Until this past Sunday. I recently befriended a fellow pop culture enthusiast and author who lives in Brooklyn, and he invited me to his book release party for his family and friends at his home on Sunday afternoon. When I Google-mapped my driving route, I wondered if Brennan & Carr might be close enough that I could go there after the afternoon party. To my surprise and joy, they were 5 minutes away! So I finally got to try a B&C RB sammie. Of course, I asked for it "all the way," with cheese, onions, and fully dipped in the au jus. That first bite was like a little taste of (roast beef) heaven!!! That first surge of "hot beef" flavor is unforgettable! I was amazed that the hefty bun it came on was able to simultaneously soak up all that au jus without falling apart at all! It maintained its integrity all the way to the final bite. Which, by the way, I could BARELY finish, it was so filling! So I asked the young woman at the register to place an order for a double cheeseburger with bacon and everything on it to simplify it, along with an order of fries and their C&C cola. This was like so many smashed burgers that are all the rage these days. I have not been generally impressed by smashed burgers, so this review is admittedly biased. The slap sauce, which seems to be mustard and mayo with finely minced and blended relish as best I can tell, did not make the case either. The slap sauce was good, but it did not cause me to write home about it. They definitely give you bacon to justify the upcharge, but the cheese was lost in the slap sauce. The fries had a nice fluffy interior, but were not that crispy outside. The fries were good, but ketchup is needed. The C&C cola was quite good. This is a clean location with good service and no real negatives. People of all walks were walking in. It's popular. For $18 and change cash, it's a decent value, especially if you have children.
