Bacon cheese hot dog (about $10) with a handful of their available toppings. Small "little" cajun fries in the bag $4.

Stopped in to try their new Patty Melt burger on the menu ($9.99). Got mine with "All the way" toppings and added a side of small fries. "All the way" toppings includes mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomato, ketchup, mustard, grilled onions, and grilled mushrooms. Also, got a couple scoops of their free peanuts (located inside, across the order counter, next to entrance) to snack on for later. I enjoyed the patty melt and think I prefer this to their regular hamburger/cheeseburger. There's something about the toasted bread slices and melty cheese that makes the patty melt a better "burger" IMO. Quality has been consistent through the years here.

Today is May 28th, and it's National Hamburger Day! To celebrate, I ordered a Cheeseburger and Regular Fries at Five Guys in Alameda. The Five Guys Cheeseburger is no lightweight. It's actually two patties of meat, so it's like a 1/2-lb double cheeseburger. Then they offer unlimited free toppings, so you can dress it up the way you like it. I topped mine with 9 toppings. OMG, those patties were cooked just right. The meat was juicy and savory. But I thought the bun wasn't quite strong enough to handle two meat patties and all those condiments and toppings. As I got thru half the cheeseburger, the bun seemed to start coming apart. Oh well, eat it faster! The regular-size fries were great and worth the price. They're fresh cut and twice fried. They serve it in a paper cup, and then it seems they added more to my bag. Five Guys is easily one of my favorite places to get a burger! Five Guys in Alameda is located at the Southshore Shopping Center. Free Parking and near the beach.

I would have to use my fingers and toes to count how many times I've been to a Five Guys burger joint in different locations and states. Surprisingly, this is my first review. Every location I have visited has been bright, clean, and welcoming, with friendly customer service. I always order the little burger all the way without mushrooms and add extra onions. Their fresh fries are crispy and seasoned to my liking, and I appreciate the option to request light salt. Once, I even tried the salted caramel bacon milkshake, which was surprisingly delicious. Additionally, the bathrooms are always clean, and I appreciate their soda machine. While it may be pricier than other burger joints, the freshness of the fries and non-frozen burgers eases my mind. I will definitely return, and I recommend giving Five Guys a try.

CAJUN FRIES all the way. Ordered online so I didn't have to wait, because there will be like a 15 mins wait if you order in the store. I'm impatient. Got two little Cajun fries, one regular cheese burger (two patties) and one bacon cheese burger (two patties), so if you're not a big eater, get the little version of the burger. I always get the little Cajun fries because they sure do fill up the little cup and give you like a LOT in the bag exceeding the cup.

I haven't had Five Guys in awhile and it was just aright. The bacon cheeseburger was good but would've been better with a bit of melted cheese and bacon not so crumbly. I liked the oreo milkshake and like that they have a lot of flavors. The prices are a bit steep for what it is though. Service was nice and not too slow.

WHEN: Saturday @7:30pm Because of COVID-19, and although the restaurant was open for ordering and outdoor dining, I placed my order online for a curbside pickup. The setup is a bit odd but doable--you park in front where it feels illegal and maybe only 3 cars can be there at a time for curbside pickup (for other establishments too). My order was ready in 10 minutes and here's what I had: CHEEESEBUGER - $8.99 Although this was not my first time having Five Guys, this was my first time ordering. What I did not know was that the base burger doesn't come with anything except cheese and 2 beef patties. You have to manually select the different toppings (condiments, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.). It's okay it was still a pretty solid hefty burger. I just had to add everything else at home. Oh and this hefty burger definitely enough for 2 servings. CAJUN FRIES (Large) - $6.09 Theses seasoned fries were really good. Lots of flavor and cooked well. The large size is very shareable and there's so much of it. I recommend giving this a try. I'd order again, only next time I'll do it correctly.

Fowl + Fare operates from a small storefront right next to the Shanvi Indian Grocery store on Santa Clara Ave (near Broadway). This place is either takeout or eat outside on picnic tables. I took my food to-go. I had the Citric Hot Chicken Sandwich w/ Seasoned Fries. I liked the Citric Hot Chicken Sandwich. It was spicy, but not numbing hot. The slaw sort of smoothed out the spicy heat. It's made from thigh meat, so it's moist and easy to eat. I didn't like the seasoned fries. They cut the potatoes into thin fries that don't travel well as takeout. Probably okay if you ate them right there, fresh from the kitchen. If I go back, I'm just getting a sandwich.....no fries.

This time it fell a bit short. The carpaccio was a fun addition to the menu, but the flavor profiles were off. The vinaigrette was a bit sour for my taste, the chips were too salty and the pickles were odd to be on top of the carpaccio. The Cesar salad is a favorite of mine, but a bit salty this time! I was genuinely surprised. Not sure if it was the dressing or if it was the black flaky salt. The burrata was fabulous. The duck was nothing to write home about. It was moist in some areas and then other parts extremely dry. The NA drinks were a fun selection. I recommend the blueberry cucumber one for sweet and the rosemary lemonade for tart. We will be back of course, but this round fell a bit short. I think I will stick to the steak frites next time which is always done perfectly.

Since moving to the neighborhood earlier this year, I have walked past TrueBurger quite a few times on my way to/from the 19th Street BART Station, and I was excited to give it a try. I was initially thinking I would get a burger, but my friend had to postpone getting together until the mid-afternoon, so I ate lunch at home and opted for a milkshake when we met a couple hours later. I had seen a special coconut shake on the menu on the TrueBurger website; I'm a big fan of most things coconut, and especially ice cream. I was eager to taste the shake...and my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I realized it was just a vanilla shake with shredded coconut. Why is TrueBurger trying to pass this off as a coconut shake? It's far less novel, but it's perfectly acceptable to only offer vanilla and chocolate shakes. The mix-ins actually put them one step ahead of much of the competition, but misleading customers is never okay. To add insult to injury, I have tried reaching out to TrueBurger via email, and management is incredibly unresponsive. They could have easily fixed this by offering me a refund or asking me to come back in for a shake on the house. Do better, TrueBurger.

Tl;dr - A true beer garden ala Texas/Midwest, with the food, beer, and relaxed summer vibes you all…read moredream of. There's something for the whole family aside from some truly tasty beers. I've been coming here for awhile, ever since one fine afternoon I was in town on business and was feeling a need for craft beer. I was once the world's predominant authority on craft beer in my own mind, but years of chugging ales have decimated my tolerance for it. Anywho, the first thing you'll notice about this spot is it's out there, pretty far off from downtown Alameda tucked away in an old military pier alongside some other more enterprising establishments. Lots of parking so there's that. Inside, they are definitely doing that thang, massive brewery stacks dominate the background but the space is massive so it supports an almost endless amount of tables, benches, and spots to hide out. Arcade machines, outdoor activities (even a kids sandbox) really add the "Adventureland" elements that make it more than just a standard brew joint. If you've had their beer, it's definitely on the expensive side, but they keep a healthy variety that I would say is all reliably refined and delicious. Its no 2000 era Bells or modern day Founders, but I particularly like their love hazy and the Mexican style lagers. My friends who like sours say they are also quite good. Although this place is really not directly affiliated with the business it's definitely a reason I go so I can't leave it out -- they have food trucks outside that handle most of the food there and the one they have there always has one of the best burgers I've ever had in the bay, hands down. It's a blackened blueberry and blue cheese burger and even though I don't like blue cheese, this unholy alliance is faaaaaaan-friggin-tastic. Must try. Service is casual, they do flights which is a great way to try things. Not sure about any happy hours, would love to see them get a mug/growler thing going here for discounts, they might have something already I'm just not aware of but nothing is obvious when I've gone. It's a great spot to kick it with some friends on a nice day or late afternoon, having a few beers and relaxing. California doesn't really do the beer garden thing like we do in the Midwest, you'll find spots like this all over Michigan so it's nice to see something of the same type here finally. I believe dogs are allowed too ala Texas vibes, but not 100% on that so I'd check ahead of time. Personally, I cannot stand seeing dogs at restaurants and bars so even if they do allow it, those aren't your kids, can we start reporting places that allow dogs without signage? If I brought a raccoon in on a leash would you be fine with that? It's a sanitation issue. Anyways, I digress, if you like beer, you like fun, and you like damn fine burgers, this is the best spot on the other side of the pond. 'nuff said.
